Great diner food in Savannah. Apparently it was featured in a movie so it will always be busy. There is also a bus stop right in front which makes it appear even busier. Seats inside are done through the hostess but outside is first come. We sat outside with no wait. I got the biscuits and gravy, my husband got the BLT and we split the French onion soup. Good Morning from Savannah, as we are in town for a Car Show that lasted all weekend. Browsing around for some good grub, we ended up at this place to start off the weekend. Usually, when a place is this good we tend to repeat, so we did!! As we arrived the wait time was only 15 minutes for a group of 4. As we got called we got promptly seated and proceeded to put in our drink order (By the way, their coffee is delicious). Shortly after we get the drinks, we all decided on what to order. First day I decided on the Crab Cake Benedict, I mean, we are in Savannah, gots to get my seafood craving satisfied! Presentation was on point, and quite delicious. I got some fried potatoes and wheat toast as sides for it. My plate was wiped clean. Second day I got the freshly made Corned Beef Hash, which was really good as well. We ate here on a Saturday morning around 11 am. There was a line, but they turn tables quickly and we were seated within about 20 minutes. Our waitress, Holly, was so friendly, quick, and efficient. We had our food within 10 mins of ordering and everything was perfect. They were out of crab cakes, but my omelet was fantastic and hubby's sandwich was delicious as well. My friends and I was undecided on where to eat and an desired to eat at a restaurant we have never dine in before. A friend suggested Clary's Cafe. The cafe has a small parking lot adjacent to it which was filled. We quickly found on street parking. When we entered we was greated and quickly seated despite the cafe being crowded. The staff was friendly, service was good and the menu prices was decent. Our meals arrived in a timely manner. Out of the five different meals ordered only two was found not to be to tasty. The chicken finger batter was grainey and not flavorful. The Philly cheese sandwich was not highly flavorful also. Both seem to lack good flavor/season persay. Thought the two items was not favorful the potions was good. The dinning experience was good and I would visit again. read more

We were there late morning on a Sunday for what amounted to brunch. We were seated inside after a brief wait. The place was doing a good business but the line was not bad at all. The food was delicious, with two of us going for omelettes and one (me) for the French toast and a side of sausage patties. The French toast was more than enough, thick and sprinkled with powdered sugar, and the omelettes were also a hit. Two of us had orange juice that tasted fresh. Best hash I ever had in my life. This place is a hole in the wall but it out does every restaurant or breakfast place in Savannah. LOVE LOVE the service. Everyone here is always o happy. Parking is very limited in the street and at the cafe. Use a deck. Ambiance: Casual cafe, Big portions, cozy dining experience. Seating is pretty tight. We got there early, but as we were leaving it was getting busy. What I Ate: Crab cake eggs Benedict. The crab cakes were thick and well seasoned. The sauce was creamy and went so well with the crab and muffin. One egg was perfection, the other was just a little too runny for me. I also got their famous sticky bun. THE CARAMEL STICKY BUN! OMG! My wife and I were enjoying another lovely weekend in Savannah and wanted to try a local breakfast place and the reviews here were excellent. When we got here, we were initially put off by the wait (we were hungry and it was getting hot lol) but we decided to stick it out. We were very happy that we did. The place is quaint and homey, a very natural feel here. The food was phenomenal. The portions were more than enough and the taste was out of this world. Mike, our waiter was beyond friendly and really went out of his way to make sure we had everything. I would give 5 stars but the only issue at the beginning was the host in how he responded to customers, it was a bit sarcastic. But it could be his humor not translating well to those around him. A must stop in Savannah as this diner was featured in Midnight of the Garden of good and evil with John Cusack and Kevin Spacey. We had breakfast here 2 days running. We were served both days by "Alice." You can't make this stuff up. By 8 am when they opened, there were 15-20 people in line. Locals and tourists alike. The menu was typical breakfast fare with some specialties like the waffles (not sampled) and the corned beef hash which was delicious. All portions were more than generous and the prices made it a good value. The grits met our standards as Yankee transplants with only partially developed palates for the stuff. Service from Alice and others was amazing. The only missing "star" was due to the overall cleanliness which won't effect their business as people will come any way for the mythical experience of this place. read more

We went to Clary's while visiting Savannah on a Sunday morning which was ALSO Fathers Day!! It was packed, a line out the door! We thought for sure we were never going to get in, we were told a 25 minute wait, but we didn't even wait 15 minutes! When I tell you Clary's Cafe Staff is a well oiled machine! By far the most friendliest, respectful, fastest, and BEST service we have had in Savannah. Clary's is a MUST if you are in the area! Paula is one of the kindest waitresses and did not miss a single thing we asked for. I had the Georgian sandwich and I must say their biscuits are too die for!!! Sunday morning at Clary's is busy with little parking/street parking, so take Rideshare and get there early. The overall breakfast was mediocre. I had the corn beef hash which was cooked like a rectangular salmon croquet (see photo) and lacked seasoning. The eggs were bland as well. The best item I had was the toast... which was bread and butter. My guest had the steak and eggs. The steak didn't have any seasoning and was a poor cut of steak. Wouldn't recommend. Even after attempting to doctor it with sauce and salt/pepper, it still was no good. The orange juice wasn't made with real oranges and tasted like cardboard, so avoid. The decor was old school and fitting the original theme. Could definitely use an update and some cleaning. The fixture above us was completely covered in dust. When we asked the staff about it he stated it hadn't been touched in 20 years. Yikes. The staff was very nice and our waitress wasn't personable, but still professional and reasonably attentive. I can absolutely understand why Savannah locals love Clary's Cafe. After wandering around the Historic Streets of Savannah with my friends, we decided we needed a no frills, just simple homestyle diner, for some good ole' breakfast. We turned the corner and BAM! The Savannah streets answered our wishes and led us to Clary's. From the outside it looked exactly like we hoped, simple but homey. The interior is nothing less. Packed with small tables and an actual functioning jukebox. Total nostalgia! It brought us back to some humble memories of the goodtimes. The menu was straightforward; filled with diner classics along with some traditional Savannah dishes. Everything sounded delicious but the Famous House Specials portion of the menu sounded exceptional. So here's what we ordered: ** The Hoppel Poppel was the definition of comfort. Perfectly scrambled eggs with salami, house potatoes and veggies! Served with a toasted bagel and cream cheese. It was the dish every southern granny made with love. ** The Crab Cakes Benedict was fantastic. Huge amounts of real crab meat. They didn't skip any corners just because they're a diner. They gave us the real thing! Major points for that. The eggs were poached hard, which I wasn't personally a fan, however it was my friend's dish and she loved it. So that's all that matters! ** Steak and Eggs were top notch too! A true 8 ounces of sirloin. Cooked exactly to my friend's preference; a lovely medium rare. The steak juices melted really well with the yolks of the perfectly fried sunny-side up eggs, that it created this amazing gravy for the home fries. For the perfect ending to our meal, we decided to share Clary's Famous Sticky Bun. Now that was amazing! The sticky bun pulled apart so effortlessly. Each bite had the perfect amount of warm caramel pecans combined with the light dough. SO DELICIOUS!!! Clary's took me back in time and served some real comfort food. It's a simple place but it's humble roots make it truly special. Definitely a must visit while in Savannah. Random fact: Clary's Building used to be a pharmacy in the late 1800's! Parts of the interior decor like the green vases are original to the pharmacy. How cool is that?! read more

The only problem with Clary's is the line. I had to wait 10 minutes just to put my name in for a table. On a Monday! But once we put our names in, the 20 minute wait wasn't too bad, and it was worth it for the biscuit. Their hollandaise is also incredible. Clary's Cafe is a must visit breakfast spot in Savannah, GA. This is one of those places that I have to go every time that I come to Savannah. This Savannah classic has been in business since the early 1900's. It was popularized even more recently in the book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" by John Berendt (which, side note, is worth a read). Clary's is a classic diner style hole in the wall, and I mean that in the most deferential way. It is the type of restaurant that should make everyone in your party happy. They serve breakfast all day, and have all of your typical diner offerings done very well. Come in and get a taste of Savannah. You will be surrounded by locals and tourists alike. My favorite thing at Clary's is their Original Burger with bacon. It is a no frills, greasy, flat top burger. It doesn't have anything fancy, just the typical lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Why mess with a classic? Right? I've also had their breakfast which is again classic and simple. I would recommend getting one of their Malted Milkshakes to take and walk with around the city. The service here is always fantastic. This is the type of place where, if you sit your coffee cup down, it is guaranteed to be filled within seconds. The people that work here have worked at Clary's for years, and you can tell that they love what they do. The prices are hard to beat and the portions are well worth the price.
