    Chopped brisket plate

Amazing little hole in the wall BBQ joint. Service was excellent and the food was legit. We took a chance passing through in route to the Stockyards and it was delicious.

I think the hamburger bun was thicker than the portion of meat.

We pick up dinner almost weekly. Today the sliced beef sandwich literally had one slice of beef /single layer of meat. It always has a flavor, but how disappointing for the price. See picture.

Can't miss them on US 377 in Tioga.

You've got plenty of good choices for barbeque in Texas, but we look forward to the opportunity to enjoy Clark's Outpost Bar-B-Q in Tioga, Tx. We bought meat to go, since we wanted to enjoy their sliced brisket, pulled pork and sausage over a few days on our road trip. I don't know if buying meat for $7.50 to $8.00 per half pound was much more cost effective than ordering a plate or sandwich, but it worked well for us to use it in picnic outings over a few days. We had the choice of having it packed warm, if eating it soon or packed cold for later. Pickles were included as well as well as a cup of sauce. The meat didn't need any sauce, but it's alright to have a little on the side. We enjoyed all three delicious selections, but glad we didn't try to make a sandwich with the sausage, since the casing was a little on the chewy side. Anyway, big thumbs up for Clark's Outpost in Tioga and we hope to be back soon!

    Two meat platter.

After a great lunch the day before, the family returned on a Saturday night for dinner. I decided to try the two meat plate only to find there were only four small pieces of each meat type. Kind of disappointing to see this little amount for $18. Great service, atmosphere and flavor, but value could be better.

If your up for the drive this place is worth it! Friendly staff! Fast service! The brisket was great, lean but moist! Loved the flavor of the bbq sauce! Beans full of flavor. Coleslaw cool and tasty. This is an example of old town bbq! I definitely recommend this place.

We hadn't been back to Clark's since their big fire. This new place next to where their old restaurant was is smaller but the bbq is still excellent. Since we were on our way to the Lake didn't want to eat inside (also for Covid reasons) so ordered 3-1/2lb meats to go. We could get them cold or hot. We got sliced brisket hot, sausage & pulled pork cold. They were wrapped up in foil and she included a small container with pickles & 2 of bbq sauce when I asked. All the meats were delicous and hit the spot. They had jalapino/cheese sausage but she said it was pretty hot the regular was wonderful. Can't wait to stop there next time we are up by Tiago again.

Yearby's is the greasy spoon hole-in-the-wall you been dreaming of. We arrived Sunday Aug 31 2025 at 11:30 am thinking we'd be late but they moved up the open time at noon. We were maybe 8th in line. Wanted to deduct points for being out of turkey and hot links before they even opened but the food was just too dang good! The brisket is top tier. Have had better, but not by much. Great bark. Perfect tenderness. Adequate smoke. What more do you need? The smoked chicken though, wow wow wow... if you leave without getting some you really did yourself a disservice. The smoked meatloaf was a pleasant treat. It wasn't dry, the glaze was superb, and they gave you a lot of it! The potato salad and mac and cheese weren't spectacular but definitely did the job and anchored down the meal. Everything on platter was 60 bucks. I've spent more for worse. Get to Pilot Point and give em a try!

"An hour's drive for BBQ this good feels like cheating the laws of physics."…read more TL;DR: Yearby's BBQ and Waterice is a brisket-and-elote blessing straight outta the smokehouse heavens, run by Sabrina and CJ who know their way around both a pit and a frozen treat. Friendly folks, flavor-packed plates, and a mango waterice that deserves its own holiday. Twelve out of ten, will burn more gas for this again. An hour on the road is nothing when the horizon promises smoke and good folks. I rolled into Yearby's at 1:30 with an appetite big enough to make a rack of ribs nervous. Turns out, I was late to the party. The earlier crowd had already cleaned house on a few menu items, but brisket and turkey were still calling my name. I grabbed both, plus brisket elote, potato salad, and slaw. Let me tell you, that chopped brisket was tender enough to make a grown man question life choices and the turkey had a peppery kick that played nice with every bite. The elote? A messy, glorious mountain of corn, cotija, sauce, and brisket piled high. It was the kind of side dish that could run for mayor and win in a landslide. Potato salad and slaw backed it up like seasoned pros, no weak links on this plate. The dining room was full but there were still a few open spots waiting for hungry travelers. I snagged one and boxed up half the feast so my wife, the reigning Side Dish Queen of Texas, could hold court over the flavors later. She approved, which in my household is the BBQ equivalent of earning a Michelin star. Banana pudding wasn't on the menu, but the mango waterice saved the day. Cool, tangy, and perfect for a man who just wrestled brisket and elote into submission. I might've looked like a kid on summer break eating that thing, and I didn't care one bit. Sabrina and CJ know how to feed a crowd and treat folks like family. Yearby's is the kind of place that makes you start planning your next visit before you even leave the parking lot. Stamp collected. Only 37 more to go on this Texas Monthly Top 50 trek. If happiness had a flavor, it'd taste like Yearby's chopped brisket with a mango waterice chaser.

Ordered Turkey, Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage and Mac and Cheese on the 2 meat combo plate. First off, that was $27 which I thought was rather high but with the hype I thought it might be worth it. The turkey was tender and juicy and rather flavorful, except for the end piece of turkey breast (I assume) with the skin side which was extremely tough. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was okay, but it didn't really retain either the jalapeño, cheddar, or the smoky taste which I thought was disappointing. The Mac and Cheese had bacon bits on it which were nice and crispy but the Mac and Cheese wasn't very rich or complex flavor wise, which I found slightly underwhelming. The sauce was super runny and while it had flavor, I never think having to put sauce on stuff to give it flavor is the answer. All that being said, for $27 I wasn't going to leave anything on the plate. The service I thought was rather hands off and I'm surprised nobody came and checked on us although that may be just how things are. The ambiance was cool with old license plates and pictures along with some cool western themed things up on the walls to make it seem warm and homey. All in all, I was left with the feeling that there should've been more and I was kinda disappointed after all the hype I've seen and all the gravitas that the name Pecan Lodge carries with it. I'd say probably a 6.5-7/10 so that lands me at 3 stars because it really didn't feel 4 star worthy.

One touch, and they gave in completely. No resistance. Just tender, juicy surrender. I leaned in, and suddenly it was just me and those ribs, no distractions, no dignity left. The kind of experience where you stop caring who's watching. Then the mac and cheese. Soft. Creamy. Rich in a way that feels almost too indulgent. It coats everything slowly, deliberately... like it knows exactly how to linger. Each bite deeper than the last. I didn't rush it. You don't rush something like that. The green beans surprised me. They had bite. Confidence. A little snap that kept things interesting--like a playful contrast to everything else melting around me. Not innocent. Not at all. And then... the tangy pork sauce. Sweet, smoky, just enough sharpness to make you react. I dipped once. Then again. Then I stopped pretending I had any self-control. It clung to everything in the best way--bold, unapologetic, unforgettable. By the time I thought I was completely undone... they handed me free banana pudding. Cool. Smooth. Soft in all the right ways. A gentle finish after everything that came before. I slowed down. Let it linger. Didn't want it to end. I left full... flushed... slightly overwhelmed. Hutchins isn't just BBQ. It's an experience you feel in your whole body.

Coleslaw was creamy and not too sweet and we also really liked their macaroni salad. 2 things. Green beans weren't seasoned. Super bland. And I'm not a fan of how they prepackage their sides and you grab it out of the warmer or cooler. Their sides are some of the best in DFW. Let people see the product. They are currently only open a few days a week for a few hours on those select days. Bummer. I'm not going to get into whether or not this place is good, I've already addressed it in prior reviews and updates; in one word it's 'stellar'. The proprietor; Derek has done a tremendous job moving from very small outlet to a very cool large restaurant facility. I took five people there on Saturday and it was a great experience. Derek personally brought the food out. We chatted for a bit, I congratulated him on his growing his business. He said in one day, he does more revenue than he did in a weeks time at his prior "to go" only location. Good for him, he's a true American success story that clearly busted his butt to build his business. If only we had more of those. He's got a great formula. I can't criticize anything he's done; even the bathrooms are spotless and top notch. Whoever built out the plumbing in his place is truly an artist, you have to look at the details, it's not a budget operation. Kudos to this guy for killing it and putting a great crew together. If you haven't tried it you're doing yourself a disservice. If I'm disappointed about one thing, it's the fact he doesn't have those tallow based salted chocolate chip cookies anymore; at least that I could tell. I forgot to ask him about it. He may have had trouble getting consistent quality from his baker, but they were just absolutely awesome and a hell of a deal in my opinion. Pro Tip: I mentioned that I had a pellet grill and I wasn't able to get enough smoke flavor into the meat. It turns out he started on the same one I have. I've got a Yoder YS 640 competition model. He gave me some solid pointers. I can't wait to try them. It will never be as good as his, but hopefully I can improve.
