It's always so nice when you know you're about to eat fantastic bbq and it's not in some newly renovated shiny instagramable joint. Yearby's is the greasy spoon hole-in-the-wall you been dreaming of. We arrived Sunday Aug 31 2025 at 11:30 am thinking we'd be late but they moved up the open time at noon. We were maybe 8th in line. Wanted to deduct points for being out of turkey and hot links before they even opened but the food was just too dang good! The brisket is top tier. Have had better, but not by much. Great bark. Perfect tenderness. Adequate smoke. What more do you need? The smoked chicken though, wow wow wow... if you leave without getting some you really did yourself a disservice. The smoked meatloaf was a pleasant treat. It wasn't dry, the glaze was superb, and they gave you a lot of it! The potato salad and mac and cheese weren't spectacular but definitely did the job and anchored down the meal. Everything on platter was 60 bucks. I've spent more for worse. I have lived in Texas for 14yrs and not one BBQ joint has impressed me with one bite like YEARBYS! The MICKEY FICKEY COLLARD GREENS had me hooked!!!! This was our first stop from the airport because we had to have some delicious Texas bbq as our first meal! It is so nice that it's fully HALAL! We enjoyed the brisket, the brisket corn, brisket sandwich, baked beans, smoked Mac and cheese, and potato salad. Did we order one of everything? Yes we did and no regrets! Everything was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend this spot if you're in the Dallas area. My only gripe is how far it was, a whole hour from the airport!! Despite living in the area for a decade, we had never heard of this place until recently, so we tried it out. It is a big hit among the Islamic community members in the area. The service was friendly but very slow to get our food, despite the place not being full. Limited drinks and selection of food so far. The potato salad was fantastic, the street corn had too much vinegar for our taste. The brisket ? I don't know if they had an accident with the salt but it was literally so salty , we could barely eat it and only finished half of it. Went here for the first time last night and it was so delicious! Husband and I shared the sliced brisket, and the brisket Mac and cheese and it was plenty of food to fill us up. My mother in law had the brisket also with some potato salad which was also good, my father in law had the chicken. There were no complaints at the table, just a lot of chewing and lip smacking. The prices weren't bad. A dinner out for the two of us for 50 dollars?! Not bad at all. We will be back definitely! Next time we will have to try the banana pudding and the water ice. Disappointing for having a perfect rating...way too expensive. We eat a lot of barbecue and I've never seen meat prices so high. $34 per pound on sliced brisket is crazy (and she had to scrap 20% of that because it was all fat). $15 for 2 slices of meatloaf that had minimal flavor other than a lot of black pepper. $5 per side for the small container is ridiculous. Did not like the homemade pickles; not a lot of dill flavor, just tasted like cucumber soaked in white vinegar. The Mac and cheese was fantastic! Sliced Brisket: 10/10; $16 per half pound Out of all the brisket I've had, Yearby's brisket is the best. The seasonings and meat quality is what really set the stage for me, the meat truly melts in your mouth, and it was absolutely delicious. Half Chicken: 8/10; $13 each The chicken was seasoned very well, usually smoked chicken tends to be bland but that wasn't the case here. It was a little dry but adding their house-made BBQ sauce helps add moisture and extra tangy flavor. Smoked Meatloaf: 10/10; $13 The meatloaf was the wildcard for me, I knew it would either be a hit or miss but it was definitely a homerun. Incredibly flavorful and moist, I just wished I could've gotten a bigger portion. I would come back just for the meatloaf. Smokin Mac and Cheese: 8/10; $5 for 8oz The mac and cheese was tasty, I didn't really taste an additional smokiness, but it was creamy and wasn't heavy at all. Brisket Mac and Cheese: 10/10; $15 This was the winner. This is the side you want. The tender brisket, plus the BBQ sauce, and the creamy mac and cheese. You will forget all your problems and will be on cloud 9. My only complaint is that the serving size was too small, I would pay extra for a larger size. Potato Salad: 8/10; $5 for 8oz The potato salad had great flavor and the acidity was a good side to pair with the fatty and rich meat. It's the perfect pairing for any BBQ. Yearby's Street Corn: 9/10; $5 for 8oz I feel like this was a good twist on the type of elote you get when visiting your local Mexican grocery store. The corn was savory and had a lot of flavors, I also loved the generous amount of cotija cheese used. Watermelon Waterice: 10/10; $5 I've never had Waterice before, I assumed it was going to be a snow cone with the same texture of ice as Bahama Bucks, but I was wrong. It was like ice cream but without the dairy, I later looked up the process and it's made just like how ice cream would be made just dairy free. It was creamy and not too sweet. It was a good treat for a hot summer day and a nice substitute for ice cream. BBQ Sauce: 10/10; Complimentary I love BBQ sauce, I eat it with pizza, fries, and more. The house-made BBQ was sweet and tangy, it paired well with all the food we ordered. The service was excellent, I ordered a lot of the menu as you can see. One of the reasons I made the drive out here (about 40 minutes for me) was because this is one of the only Zabiha Halal Texan BBQ restaurants. OK food. Way too expensive and they expect you to clean your table. I don't mind cleaning the table, but after paying $100 for lunch - wow! The food was good enough, but not $100 good. The brisket slice was half fat, so only 4 small bits worth. The rib tasted good, but mostly bone and $50 itself. The workers looked at me like I was nuts thinking it was expensive. Then they have a sign that says "This isn't your mom's. Clean up." They EXPECT that people coming in think $100 is reasonable to then clean up themselves. Again, wow! I've had expensive meals before that I actually thought were worth it. This - not. And a couple of hours later I was way hungry. So $100 for a small meal. Geez. Wow I don't even know where to start. We moved to Dallas a year ago and have been on a mission to find authentic halal TX bbq so you can imagine our excitement when we found out about Yearby's. Let me tell you... THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!! It took us about an hour to get there from our house but it was 100000% worth the drive and we are already planning on taking everyone in our family there because it was THAT good! Owned by the sweetest, most hard working couple and the food just exceeded our expectations. We tried waterice for the first time there and it was so refreshing! Loved the bbq here! This is the best option for a Halal BBQ restaurant in the DFW area. And even if "Halal" doesn't matter to you, it's still outstanding bbq. I suspect Yearby's will be a top 50 bbq joint (Texas Monthly) in the future. We tried sliced brisket, brisket Mac n cheese, brisket nachos, flanken beef ribs, and smoked meatloaf. Everything was excellent. I loved the smoked meatloaf. And once you're done, enjoy the Waterice (aka Italian ice) for dessert.
