The food is excellent and so is the service!! My fave is the Mac bowl and the Apple Gorgonzola slaw.

As a Cali native, everyone always tells me I have to go to Texas and try the BBQ, but I honestly didn't understand the hype until I came here. The brisket is incredibly tender and melts in your mouth, and don't forget to add their homemade BBQ sauce for that extra punch of flavor. Never had green apple slaw before, but it was absolutely delicious and the Mac and cheese was to die for. The seating area in the back is huge and a great spot for a big group.

This is a new restaurant. They started out as a food truck enterprise. I love the location. There are 3 dining areas, the main dining, the large dining area which hosts live music . Then there is the outdoor dining area. This area is bustling with shopping and dining experiences. Everything we had was tasty. The Cole slaw was unique and delicious. The Mac n cheese was good enough. I had the smoked turkey and the carnitas taco (technically a tostada), our food was a little slow (still shaking down the food service line) and therefore my taco was a bit too soggy to pick up successfully in one part. Everyone loved the sausages, The brisket had a good smoke ring. The best value from my perspective was the brisket nachos, they were huge! Management needs to refine the dining room a bit. I had to go to the counter to get napkins, there were none outside on the table; like inside. The order spot is also the pickup spot which is not good. Several menu items have been struck down permanently. To my personal disappointment the smoked chicken was also struck off the menu; still scratching my head on that one. They did have a solo musician performing in the big dinning hall. We love live music I'm going to reserve judgement for another 6 months.Vaqueros has some very good competition nearby. They do have a few unique menu items on the menu, I just hope they stay so as to differentiate themselves from the others. Go, try it and give us your review.

TLDR: Amazing hospitality and great BBQ with twists I can't emphasize enough how amazing the hospitality is at Vaqueros. My party and I came by half an hour before opening and Trey let us in early and hung out with us until opening time. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in every interaction. The brisket, sausage, turkey were all smoked as well as you'd find in the best places. Everything is made with quality ingredients, especially evident in the beautifully marbled prime brisket. Vaqueros is significantly less salty than other BBQ joints - really letting the meat shine. They also do great tacos and burnt ends. These both stray from your standard joint - the pork belly burnt ends are closer to chicharrones than the typical sauced / glazed pork belly bites. If I was in the area I'd definitely be coming back. Vaqueros is a wonderful representation of the community with some great food. Extra: Vaqueros has an amazing indoor smoke room rather than an outdoor setup. It's a laboratory of custom windows, smokers, fire pits, etc. all for the purpose of making barbecue indoors. It really is an engineering marvel - a glimpse into the future of barbecue.

Staff is awesome. Super clean inside. Huge - there's the dining room attached to the cashier and where they dole out the meat but another side room too. Everything was prepared excellently - and when I got there an hour or two before close, they had run out of a bunch of stuff. Always a good sign :) Will be back! Also the area it's in is great for an evening stroll after eating!

Not a bad BBQ spot in Allen but there were some misses when my fiance and I came to try it out... When we visited on a Friday evening at around 6:30pm, there were only a few people in line and plenty of empty tables to go around. When you get to the front of the line, you order meats at the first section of the counter and then you order sides, tacos, and any other dishes at the check out counter further down. For BBQ, we got their prime brisket, hot link sausage, and pork ribs with mac & cheese and fries. The brisket was nice and tender and it was probably my favorite out of all three meats. Both sides were just okay in my opinion and not a stand out. Other than their core BBQ offerings, we also tried their al pastor pork belly burnt ends and the BBQ birria taco, and this is where things fell flat for me. The pork belly burnt ends tasted more like crispy pork belly, and the meat + skin was super tough and almost inedible in some parts. The birria taco was okay but I wish it had more flavor.

All the food was amazing. Ribs fell off the bone and tacos had great flavor. Rarely do you find a place that combines Hispanic and barbecue together like this. It's a great combination. All the staff were super helpful and kind and patient and I enjoyed talking to them. We will definitely be back for sure and make this a regular stop anytime we're in the area.

Service was great and the atmosphere and location are awesome. Even some of the sides and the prime brisket was incredible but after an $82 bill for 3 people, the food wasn't as up to par as I'd hoped. Maybe it was because it was 230pm and after the lunch rush on a Saturday and during a Mothers day craft show at Wattera Edge, but for what we paid, I wasn't impressed. The burnt ends pork was barely edible. It was so tough it felt like id Crack a tooth. The sauces covered up the actual pork flavor and didn't compliment it. It was drowned in sauce. We also got the regular pork and it was so gross and fatty that it bled through the butcher paper. I don't think there was actual meat in the portion they gave us. We tried the elote and it was OK. The beans, Mac and cheese and potato salad were honestly better quality and flavor than the meats. I will say we ended up getting the first slices off rhe prime brisket and it was phenomenal. Also the staff is super nice but for what we paid, I was expecting alot higher quality bbq. Maybe well try again on a less busy weekend. Ps, if you've never been to Watters Edge on a weekend, parking is an abysmal nightmare. Just park at of changes or off of Watters Edge a bit and walk. Trust me. This is a cool location in a trendy and cool shopping area, so it gets busy fast!

You're kidding me right,? After waiting 3 months for this new BBQ purveyor to work the kinks out,we walk in and the owner says, "We're out of brisket and ribs". More on that later, for now I've got to interject that the pit master Christian, saved the day and a 1 Star review. I had planned all week to take my grandson to Vaqueros for Q. He has inherited his grandfather's love of Q and we choose Vaqueros tonight. One of my earliest memories growing up in Dallas was my dad taking me into the original Sonny Bryan's and Sonny apologizing for being out of brisket. Guess what?He turned around and made us a turkey sandwich on the house. Sonny knew business. Today, those simple times are gone. Everything is going corporate, profit motive, high rent, fancy smokers. That's all good unless you can't deliver your product. Thanks for the pit room tour Christian. I give your efforts five stars and will return to sample your Brisket.

Came to try their tacos and I will say I liked one out of the three I got. My fav was the brisket taco. My husband got a barbecue platter and liked both the brisket and turkey. The mac and cheese is ok not the best. Restaurant was clean inside and they have alot of open seating.

Happy to have local bbq and it's super creative. Here's what works- great location at the corner of Watters Creek retailing on the parking lot. Great outdoor seating and access from the bike path. Plenty indoor seating as well with super cute cowboy decor. Wood plank tables and even big screens playing white washed westerns. Like many bbq joints you order at a meat counter and walk through a line and pay at the end of the line. (If you want an alcoholic beverage you have to order at a separate window) . You get a buzzer, seat yourself and wait to be called to another window to pick up any remaining items. In terms of alcohol there is a limited selection of bottled beer, and a margaritas from a countertop slushee style granita machine. The food is good. We had several different selections. But it was too much. We all overate from huge portions and felt unwell due to rich food overeating. What would I change besides the food portion size? The bbq sauce was a tad too sweet. My food temp was cool. Overall this is a great addition to Allen and Watters Creek.

Not what I was expecting from such a talked about BBQ spot. Unfortunately, I didn't really enjoy what we ordered this time around. It's disappointing because we had a much better experience during our last visit, back when they were still operating out of the food truck. We were disappointed by the and ribs. We had hoped we there in time for the pastrami brisket but it was sold out already around 4pm. I like the fact that there wasn't a long line but that may mean something else. It's a good space. I wished it was a better

The tables and floors are dirty with flakes of food. Just down right dirty. Ugh. Not sure when they ever wipe them down, if ever. Of all the tables on several visits I couldn't find a clean table to sit and eat. It's a taqueria? But, still offer table seating. I'm so confused. Not the usual spotless Mexican kitchen. The floors are dirty. Ugh. Crumbs all over the floor and it's sticky. I think most folks use Uber Eats. That's why they don't have a standard inside. Usually, kids, and I mean kids 16 and younger are running the counter and kitchen. The bottles are never wiped down. Caked on food on ketchup, green sauce, and red sauce bottles. Thus far I've not gotten sick. They don't speak English, but then I don't speak Spanish. So it's a wash! I'll probably go back. And pray every time I don't get sick. Thus far I've dodged the bullet! I'd like to support a small business. However, the prices are stupid crazy! Salsa and chips are $5.50. Refills are $1 each time for salsa. Pay up front too. Then they serve you. Don't expect refills either you have to pay first. ( I still leave a tip, but probably shouldn't). Food is always decent! Just know when eating in, it's not up to expectations as a consumer. Make your own judgments. Sticking to Uber eats may be your best bet! That way you don't see what really goes on inside this establishment. June-September 2024

The place is clean, the prices are on point, and the food is FABULOUS. The only drawback, and it's a very minor one, is that they don't sell drinks, you have to purchase your beverages separately. Found it on Yelp (thanks y'all) and with the high ratings, I knew I was in for a treat. The "restaurant" is really just a window in the back corner inside the convenience store, with a small table and a few stools for anyone "eating in". Nothing quite matches the experience of sitting on a wobbly stool watching people buy cigarettes and lotto tickets while eating bomb tacos, honestly. I got myself 4 tacos, and I could've eaten more as they were SO good. I had 2 steak tacos, one chicken with jalapeño, and one that was chorizo and beef. The steak ones were my favorite. Prices are average, and service was friendly and quick. Dont expect luxury accomodations, but expect amazing tacos. Next time you stop to get gas, perhaps do it here, so you have an excuse to grab some of this food.
