Macho Taco Cantina is at the new Allen Food Hub off Alma Dr. There are two sides to the Cantina one for Take Out if you want to eat while watching a movie or Sports Game on the huge TV in the courtyard. The other is a regular sit down restaurant with full bar. The menu has a little bit of everything you would expect with some notable exceptions. The Brisket in the tacos and burritos is excellent. 3 out of 4 of us had the brisket in a burrito or quesadilla and we all were fans.

We had stopped into the hub and decided to try this place. The Smothered Enchiladas were not bad. I ordered a taco which was good size but would have been better if served with a specialty salsa as it lacked flavor. The Brisket Con Queso was good although the brisket was kinda fatty and stuck to bottom no matter how many times I mixed it could probably be better if chopped thinner. Not a bad place just need some improvement too make it a better experience.

The tables and floors are dirty with flakes of food. Just down right dirty. Ugh. Not sure when they ever wipe them down, if ever. Of all the tables on several visits I couldn't find a clean table to sit and eat. It's a taqueria? But, still offer table seating. I'm so confused. Not the usual spotless Mexican kitchen. The floors are dirty. Ugh. Crumbs all over the floor and it's sticky. I think most folks use Uber Eats. That's why they don't have a standard inside. Usually, kids, and I mean kids 16 and younger are running the counter and kitchen. The bottles are never wiped down. Caked on food on ketchup, green sauce, and red sauce bottles. Thus far I've not gotten sick. They don't speak English, but then I don't speak Spanish. So it's a wash! I'll probably go back. And pray every time I don't get sick. Thus far I've dodged the bullet! I'd like to support a small business. However, the prices are stupid crazy! Salsa and chips are $5.50. Refills are $1 each time for salsa. Pay up front too. Then they serve you. Don't expect refills either you have to pay first. ( I still leave a tip, but probably shouldn't). Food is always decent! Just know when eating in, it's not up to expectations as a consumer. Make your own judgments. Sticking to Uber eats may be your best bet! That way you don't see what really goes on inside this establishment. June-September 2024

Del Sur is delicious, with everything made to order. The tortillas are excellent, their homemade salsa are spicy in the best of ways, and every taco I've tried, and I've tried MANY, are all top notch! Don't worry about ambiance, it's a taqueria. The place is clean, the prices are on point, and the food is FABULOUS. The only drawback, and it's a very minor one, is that they don't sell drinks, you have to purchase your beverages separately. It's a minor inconvenience, but you're in a gas station/convenience store, so there's like a gaggle of different drink options for you. There no need for me to list off specific tacos, they're literally all great!

Found it on Yelp (thanks y'all) and with the high ratings, I knew I was in for a treat. The "restaurant" is really just a window in the back corner inside the convenience store, with a small table and a few stools for anyone "eating in". Nothing quite matches the experience of sitting on a wobbly stool watching people buy cigarettes and lotto tickets while eating bomb tacos, honestly. I got myself 4 tacos, and I could've eaten more as they were SO good. I had 2 steak tacos, one chicken with jalapeño, and one that was chorizo and beef. The steak ones were my favorite. Prices are average, and service was friendly and quick. Dont expect luxury accomodations, but expect amazing tacos. Next time you stop to get gas, perhaps do it here, so you have an excuse to grab some of this food.
