My friend and I have a standing pedicure appointment. All we have is date and time, not necessarily a place. Tonight we tried out City Nails. Small place, but great service. Pros: very friendly owners and staff, and they will work hard to fit everyone into the schedule while still providing attention to detail without skipping steps Cons: not a clean facility, half the tools are clearly sanitized, other half don't look like they're fresh, unused tools (some should have been single use) and just looking around, you can tell it's an older building that just needs a face lift and deep clean. Also, though it's nice that they try to fit everyone in, they stretch themselves out way too thin, I was lucky I was getting a pedicure and at least had a massage chair and foot soak. They also charged extra to shape the acrylic nails. The acrylic nails were a little thicker then most other shops I've been too, already looked a little grown out because she didn't put the acrylics all the way down the nail, and could have been shaped better (especially for an extra fee), and there was some gel polish residue around my nails which is easy to spot since gel polish is really hard to get off. The pedicure was great though. Unrelated to how the business is run, the regulars were super rude, literally pulled their chair up arm to arm next to my chair (to the point that if she moved, my chair moved with hers which was really irritating), started chatting with the nail technician like she was in the manicure chair, completely ignored my presence even though the technician was clearly annoyed by it, and even insulted my nail color as she was painting my nails. There were a few rude regulars in who acted like that and it was just really irritating, but again, nothing to do with how the owners run the business, just something about the experience that I really didn't like. I won't be back, I've been to other places near by that I felt were a little cleaner and gave me a more quality manicure. But the owners are super sweet and they definitely deserve recognition for how hard they work and how kind they all are. I went last Thursday for a full set, my nails are already lifting horribly and every nail is a different shape. I had to go home and file them and pick off all the acrylic that was stuck on my skin. Not to mention it was $50 for a full set .... Super disappointed & I won't be back. read more

I just got back from City Nails and I'm very disappointed! My daughter had a pedicure with gel polish and her toes looked good as well as her feet but she does not have calluses. I do. I did a Baby Feet peel about a month ago so mine were not to bad. So I figured a good pedi would surely take care of the little that was left. The joke was on me! The person that did the scrub never even smiled once. My feet are like sand paper. Someone please tell me how you could possibly make it worse! Now I'm going to have to try to fix them myself. I am SO disappointed. The polish was ok. There were a couple of imperfections and instead of starting over on 2 toes she just added more polish. They were very busy and I felt rushed even with an appointment. read more

Very friendly, gentle and fast. I made an appointment for a fill and pedicure for me and my niece and the store was busy, but we didn't have to wait long. While we were there, several "regulars" dropped in, and it is obvious they have built a good reputation. We really liked the end results! I had a horrible experience here. I asked for a French manicure but what I ended up getting was a disaster. My long nails that I had been growing for over a month were hacked off unevenly, the clear gel was bubbly and rough, and the white "tip" looked like a four year old spilled whiteout on my nail. When I tried to ask them to fix it the male who was doing my nails laughed at my face! To top it off they actually tried to make me pay! I ended up walking out before he could even finish. I went in for a pink and white fill. My nails ended up having uneven white tips, uneven lengths, and a pink back edge that didn't blend with my previous pink. They were also very thick. After a few days outgrowth, the back and side edges started to lift slightly from my natural nail. The top coat was sticky to the touch, not smooth, and had a yellow tint, like the polish was old. No moisturizer was applied after my manicure so my hands felt dry, which also means no hand/arm massage that I'm used to. I also had a pedicure. The foot/leg massage was very short, and more like just applying moisturizer. Minimal buffing on my feet left then feeling rough. The nail care was minimal. The nail polish was fine. They had me sit in the massage chair and air set my nails. No blow dryer or spray dryer applied. They told me it would be at least 2 hours before I should wear shoes. The massage/pedicure chairs are old equipment. The massage mechanism really didn't work well, or for the duration I set it to. A few weeks out, one of my big toenails chipped and broke the top of the nail off with it. The owners were friendly after they warmed up a bit, but the other lady and man working there were cold and unfriendly. Spokane has a lot of nail salons. I will keep looking. read more

I wanted to get a mani/pedi before I leave for Europe, read some reviews, didn't want to spend a lot, decided to try City Nails. Although it wasn't a bad experience, I will try elsewhere next time. I have bad eczema on my foot so the pedicure is what I am most concerned with. The massage was minimal at best; basically he just rubbed the lotion on my legs without any pressure or massage. Secondly, due to my eczema I need very thorough exfoliation with scrub and stone on my heel; again, this was minimal. The bottom of my foot looks just as cracked and awful as it did when I arrived. Finally, I chose a gold sparkle gel polish for an accent nail and it had such tiny sparkles it went on my nail clear and now I am buying gold polish to cover it with. I know this is not the fault of the technician, but frustrating none the less. That all being said, the ladies working there were very nice and friendly. read more
