We've been coming here for years and have enjoyed the service, food, and drinks. However, we had a very unexpected experience this evening and would highly discourage you from coming here. Our friend was celebrating a birthday and we were invited to enjoy some appetizers and drinks on the patio. We had a great evening and decided to stop by the restaurant bar to chat and have a drink before leaving for the evening. This is when a great event turned into an unforgettable experience in the most horrible way!! We were a group of 8 and decided to take a seat at the restaurant bar after a birthday celebration on the patio. When we sat at the bar, we were not greeted, asked what we would like to drink, or acknowledged - simply ignored!! We had such a great time celebrating on the patio and wanted to finish the evening on a high note, but the bartender clearly had another agenda. He had a look on his face of disgust, like it was time to get off the clock and we were somehow disrupting his departure from a "not so good" day. We didn't understand the dynamic, but didn't want HIS personality to bring us down as well, so we chatted and took some group pics and when he finally approached us, his customers, we asked for a drink. He served our drinks and then brought over our tabs as if we had asked to close out and were done for the night. We were quite confused by this as we had certainly not asked to close out. I asked the bartender why he had given us a tab. He was rude, decisive, and in a very condescending voice, proceeded to tell me - a 49 yr old women that I and my friends had been "over served" and that we had had enough in his opinion. I informed him that we had just come from the patio and that he could ask our patio server about our "number" of drinks, reassuring him that we had only a few while outside and we were no where near needing to be cut-off or closed out. We were rationale, coherent, and in control of all of our senses and actions. I proceeded to ask him, what his "criteria" was for determining when a customer was being "over served" and his response was, that he "could just tell, and that our behavior demonstrated a need to stop serving drinks." I was absolutely insulted by this response and asked to speak with the Manager. When the Manager came over, I explained our situation and I would have expected him to have responded in an investigative manner, with something like "yes, Mam, I understand, let me talk to the server from the patio and make a decision." Instead, he minimized my grievance, accepted the assumption by the bartender and proceeded to insult us further by siding with him. I then asked the bartender again, while in the presence of the Manager, to provide me with the "criteria" for determining when someone is "over served" and his response was that there was no "criteria" but rather that "I and my friends were having too much fun and acting very "upitty." What does this even mean?? So now, not only had my friends husband spent a ton of money on a birthday celebration on the patio, but his guests were insulted, denied a drink, and made to feel as if they had to justify a drink purchase. I strongly urge you to think twice before spending your money here! This was so unprofessional, that even the wait staff and other servers, felt the need to reassure us that what had happened was completely mishandled and out of line, and that we were absolutely right in speaking up and challenging them on their "assumptions" and inaccurate perception of the truth. Take your money and your time to the Republic Grill instead, where the food, drinks, and SERVICE is all about the "Customer" and their satisfaction! read more
