Really beautiful restaurant, nice atmosphere and the food was great! Felt prices were very reasonable. We were on a date but also seems very family friendly. The bar looked gorgeous and patio was very inviting. We both said before we left that we felt it would be our new favorite local restaurant! read more

Citizens Grill - Citizen chicken, citizen burger... jalapeño Mac and cheese - American Near Me - Conroe, Texas

We eat here regularly and normally the food is good. Today it was quite different. The mashed potatoes tasted like leftovers from yesterday. The sweet potato fries we cold and very soggy, uneatable. The chicken wings were almost raw. The only item that was decent was the chicken fried steak. I called and complained and I'm asking for my money back. I not paying $42.00 for nasty food. We dined here shortly after they opened - 3 weeks. The whole place was hoppin! We got there a little after 6:00 p.m. on a Friday night. The place has a huge lounge/bar set up. So glad there is no smoking here - yuck! The wait time was 15 minute, not bad at all on Friday night! We started out with 8 piece chicken wings appetizer. Husband commented the pieces were not as big as The Republic Grille. You had a choice between ranch or bleu cheese dressing to go with it - I would have preferred something less creamy. The wings were already pre-portioned and frozen (we suspect) - not sure they were worth $10. We ordered the citizens grilled chicken with peppered green beans and Caesar salad and the Husband ordered a large chicken fried steak with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes with jalapeño gravy. The grilled chicken was cooked great! Cooked through and still moist - yum! The peppered green beans not so much - too much salt! I had to ask for another side dish and went with the mac and cheese - average - nothing to write home about. The CFS was "okay." For the same price of $16, the CFS (large size) did not stand quite up to snuff as The Republic Grille. IMO their CFS taste much better Citizens Grille. Overall, it was not a bad place to dine at, if you are in the area. read more

Great visit. So good we invited a group of friends to meet us here the following weekend. Food was very good, service was prompt and friendly and had an amazing outdoor pet friendly patio. We brought our kids to the friend meet up and they had enough for them to enjoy (including some connect four type game). Just a good social set up on the patio. Wasn't too loud you had to really strain to speak but enough noise to make it lively. Moving to the area and we intend to visit more often. Scallop risotto was amazing! read more

Do not go here with a large party where you need a reservation. They charge &10 per person on reservation )in our case 14 people so $140 to the credit card). They do not issue a refund for this service but deduct the cost of the meal and give you a gift card for the difference. We do not live in the area so is useless. Never heard of such a practice especially considering they were in no way busy. Not a good business practice and would not recommend read more

I went to the movies with my Freind 4 her birthday and after we went here it was so fun and had lots of grade food the place was amazing

The food is always tasty. Service is usually very good. Ambiance is homey. It's a comfort food place. We go there regularly.

James is my absolute favorite behind the bar!!! His charisma and hard work shows every time I come in and I'm in at least 4 times a week. Jamie, Bailey and Kyle are also amazing! This is my go to spot but mostly for these amazing people. read more

We're inconsistent regulars at Citizens, and we almost always sit over in lounge section so this review reflects that experience. Tonight's visit was on a Monday just before Thanksgiving so they had an unexpected evening rush from shoppers and out of towners doing the last minute dinner thing on what'd usually be the least busy night of the week. You can learn a lot by visiting a restaurant on a typically slow night that becomes unexpectedly busy. A year ago I wouldn't have been able to give this same review... The guys behind the bar (I think Joe and some guy with dark hair...Avon? Aviary?) were dealing with the bar and a fairly packed set of tables/booths along with the main restaurant section's bar and drink service...they kept up and it didn't seem that any of us in the last minute crowd had to deal with delays or "forgotten" drink orders (hate it when bartenders do that). Along with them the kitchen kept up with all our food orders without lengthy delays, and, a key point...with their usually excellent quality (usually when a place gets unexpectedly busy food will arrive cold, over cooked or "all at the same time"). This was clearly a review of a single night's experience, but it should be understood that it was consistent with a "normal night" at Citizens: Affable bar staff with an excellent understanding of both everyday and unique craft cocktails... Consistent kitchen with reliably staged meals, and nearly always cooked to order rather than over or under done. FAST food and drink service. read more

Plan ahead and arrive early, it sounded like they took reservations for large parties if you called ahead. We went in tonight (Friday night) arrived at about 6:15. We were quoted a 45 minute wait time, which made sense with how packed it looked at the large bar and the waiting area. We were sat before 6:50. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and I could tell she had a lot of tables but she was a pro. The food came out impressively fast and was just as described on the menu. The citizens chicken with jalapeño cream corn was absolutely amazing. The Caesar side salad was perfect and came before the main course. The wine and beer list was extensive. It wasn't too loud there at all. It was very crowded but I completely understand why and would recommend this place highly. The service was the icing on top, they are very customer focused. read more

My first time was when they opened. It was my go to for a good meal and good service. As time went on the food, service, and price have gone in a complete 180. I took my wide there this afternoon for a late lunch early diner. From when we walked in to when we left, the staff was rude, made faces at customers when they were not watching. Our server was rude and not accommodating. Never came to check on us, most of the time she hid in the kitchen. I ordered a Margherita and was charged 9 dollars for a 12 Oz glass, and couldn't taste any tequila. I ordered my favorite meal, the citizens chicken. I couldn't eat a good portion of it, there was something that was not chewable in it. I will not be giving them another chance. Very sad, it was a great place that has continually gone down hill read more

First visit and what a wonderful experience. Cocktails made to perfection. Robert, our server, made excellent recommendations and did an outstanding job making sure everything was to our satisfaction. Highlights - wedge salad, beef tips, sweet potatoes. We will be back! read more

Best shrimp tacos ever!! So good they definitely didn't last long enough for a picture. My boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak with bacon jalapeño mac and loved it! This was our first time here and both the food and service were excellent. We will definitely be back. read more

Love the patio. Love the bar. Love the food except was disappointed in the Ruben sandwich.

We really do love eating here, food and atmosphere are topnotch. Bone in porkchops are killer.

Wonderful food, great service!! Well worth the visit! The quality is amazing for the cost!!

Great food! The outdoor patio is so pleasant. Nice breeze. Sunday brunch is our favorite.

Citizens grill has been one of my "Go-To" places when I have friends or family in town. I have yet to be disappointed with their food. My favorite drink is definitely their old fashioned, but if you are the whiskey/bourbon type then have no fear! They offer an array of tasty beverages including beer, wine, and many many different cocktails! If you like scallops then the Smoked scallop and mushroom risotto is a MUST TRY!!! read more

Good food and drinks I am a "foodie" and this is definitely somewhere I take friends for a "good quick lunch" Never disappointed read more

We went to Citizens Grill for my birthday lunch after seeing the great reviews, here, on Yelp. I'm so glad we did. Our server, Brianna took excellent care of us with fast and friendly service. The food was exceptional. Especially, considering the modest price point. I ordered the blackened jumbo shrimp with asparagus (that were huge!) and a side salad. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. Both meals were absolutely perfect. We will be returning very soon and would recommend to you and all our friends in the Magnolia/Woodlands area. read more

I had to go twice (back to back days) to get the beef tips with loaded baked potato, wedge salad , and cheesecake. Danielle, Andrew, and Blake are super fantastic! I would definitely recommend going to see them as well as try the super tender beef tips! You'll certainly be back! read more

The food was great and our server Lois was awesome! It has a really cool atmosphere also!

Great food and a broad selection on their menu. The food was delicious and the service excellent!

Nice variety of food. Hardy portions. All lacking flavor. Had to add salt to everything, but still needs more flavor.

Food is a little pricey for what you are Actually getting but the service is attentive and the host was a real gent went out of his way to open the door and greet us and make good small talk like we were family. read more

Our family loves this spot. It is close to home and all the food is fabulous. You cannot go wrong! I love that you could dress up for a date night but also go super casual and bring the kids. It's the perfect balance of a great night out and perfect for the kids. We enjoy the cocktail selection as well. The cosmo is my favorite and I haven't been a cosmo person since college. All very well done. read more

Heard nice things about this place. Lunchtime I was greeted with a bold "how are you" and the dreaded "What can I help you with?" (Um, table for one.) I learned there is outside seating, but it's also more quiet in the posh lounge. I was seated midway in front of the doorway, convenient to the clean restroom. There are three different menus, but no lunch menu. Mistaken as an applicant, I finally made eye contact with the bartender. She said the vegetarian fettuccine was very good and it came exactly as I ordered, delivered by a charming and accommodating server who redeemed everyone and added stars. I was asked if I needed anything, but I wished I knew there was no spoon in the silverware in the napkin. The pasta was cooked perfectly and there was more than enough sauce on it. I was happy that it was not too salty. The garlic bread tasted perfect and presented nicely, and if it came with italian bread instead of square white it would have topped it. Yes, the spoon and bread will put them a notch above, not the quality place setting. I think here you pay for atmosphere; I imagine for dinner it is quite romantic. There were a few other items here I am interested in trying, but would have to be in the mood to pay m. I hope you enjoy! read more

Went to citizens group on a Saturday afternoon. I saw the decent reviews and thought it would be a good place to try since I was in the area. I ordered the artichoke dip for an appetizer. Although it was good, it was different from what you normally see for artichoke dip. It was loaded with melted cheese, so if don't order it if you aren't wanting a super-heavy dose of cheese. I ordered the jumbo shrimp and crab redfish. It was a good choice as it was prepared well and tasted great. My wife was craving a Reuben sandwich, and so she jumped at the opportunity to order that. It was decent, but not special. For sides we had the green beans, grilled asparagus, and jalapeño creamed corn. The beans were ok, but the asparagus was excellent. Although the jalapeño cream corn sounded unique and appetizing, it was a little bland and boring. I should have picked something else. For dessert we split a bread pudding - great choice. I should have ordered a second bread pudding to take home for later. read more

Decided to try this place on a Friday afternoon. Seated quickly, waitress in training supposed to wait our table. She brought our drinks & menus, then didn't return. We ordered lobster pasta and Atlantic cod. The cod was amazing! Flaky, light crust and homemade tarter sauce was delicious. Our two sides- jalapeño corn & rice pilaf. The rice was flavorful, but there was no spice to the corn. The lobster pasta was just a pasta dish, with a fishy taste. All of the food was lukewarm when we got it. By the time we left, we had 4 people wait on us. The restaurant was not busy, in our opinion. We had to walk up to the bar and ask for the check and a to-go box. We will try Citizens again- lots of gluten free options and other menu items to try. Hopefully we will have better service and hot food next time. read more

My husband and I went here due to the great reviews. First, the good stuff. Hostess was pleasant and seated right away. Service was attentive throughout. Although the servers did not have masks on. I ordered the scallops special with risotto and my husband got a steak. The food came out way too fast to be freshly prepared. Scallops were cooked well, but had a tough piece on the side on a few of them. risotto was slightly overcooked and gummy. My husbands steak had fake grill marks and tasted like it had been frozen. I had a cocktail and my husband had a beer. Total bill was $66 not including tip. Overall mixed review and for the price, we will probably not be going back. I would recommend Republic Grill instead. read more

Great Restaurant! Great food and service! I frequent restaurant because that is the case and also because their patio is pet friendly and sometimes we like to bring our dog with us. Tonight was an exception! Same great food and service until I complained about the charges on my beverage being not what I'm usually charged during happy hour! Long story short. My waiter said it was because I changed the flavor of the vodka! same vodka different flavor. I ordered many times in the past and no change in charge. He offered the manager who acted like he was doing me a favor by charging me the CORRECT price! then when the waiter brought the new check to the table he was very rude! There are many restaurants that have good food and are pet friendly! I don't have to come here for dinner!!! It is very upsetting to be treated this way because we really like this place! read more

Service was extremely slow. Waitress wore her mask around her neck or not at all. Took 8 orders and six were wrong. Food was good but not worth the long wait and bad service and not Covid responsible! Too many other good places with good food and service! read more

Edit: We went back the next night and service was top notch! SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE!!! We sat at our table & waited and waited for someone to greet our table. The server finally came and took our drink orders and was literally walking away from our table as I tried to order an appetizer (a huge pet peeve of mine). When our appetizer arrived, we had no small plates, silverware, or napkins. We waited to ask for some, but there were no servers around. Finally, my husband got up to get the silverware on his own. Our server never came to take our order. We had to find her and ask her to come to our table so we could place it. When we ran out of drinks, we had to get up from our table to ask for refills (this was the 3rd time we needed to get out of our seat), when we needed a box we had to get up to ask for one (number four), and when we needed our check we had to get up again (number 5). No one checked on us the entire time we had our food to ask if everything was okay or to give us drink refills. It was the worst service we've had in a long time!!!! Awful! On the upside, the food was FABULOUS! Not a single complaint about it. It was served at the perfect temperature and was delicious. read more

Fish was delicious and the jalapeño cream corn was way to creamy. The fish was fresh and flaky! I would recommend the fish and chips!
