Oh friends! What an unexpected surprise. I stumbled into this restaurant late on a Friday night. First of all, I have passed by this restaurant a thousand times and never gave it any attention. As I found a parking spot right in front of it, my friend said, "hey, have you been here before? No... let's try it!" Well... why the heck not!? OMG! Came here for winter restaurant week and really enjoyed the ambiance! This place was PACKED but the service was still really quick & efficient. The drinks were delicious. I got the namesake cocktail and it was sooooo pretty with the aperol & orange juice. The portions for the appetizers were HUGE. The soup was so creamy and hearty, I loved it even though I normally do not like soup. The beet and ricotta pasta was decent, wish there were better veggie options but I'll come back when it's not restaurant week! The dessert was soooo yummy too. My second time here and it was just as enjoyable as the first time. I got the 3 course tasting menu and loved it. The only thing I wouldn't recommend would be the tuna crust, it was extremely minced tuna and I prefer a more thinly sliced or diced tuna for crisp. My first pasta was a not what I expected but my server quickly replaced it with something much more to my liking when she noticed my lack of enthusiasm. The saltimbocca was a stand out and extremely tasty and well prepared. There was also a lambrusco wine we were recommended that we loved. After my last experience, I was invited back to experience the dinner as it should have been and it was wonderful. I appreciate Cinghiale for reaching out and wanting to rectify the situation. I still recommend it as the best Italian in Baltimore. Below is my review: Top notch Italian restaurant in the heart of Baltimore. My go-to when I'm in the mood for a nice night out in the city and where I take my friends. The menu is full of variety not only in pasta but plated dishes; from squid ink pasta, risotto, tagliatelle, and bolognese to duck, seared tuna, and grilled fish. All of their mains are great and the pasta is never over cooked and the flavors meld well. They now have zero-proof cocktails on their menu, which is great. It's a nice alternative for those that don't drink. The appetizers are a great start to the meal and we love getting the prosciutto. The tuna crude is also a light but nice dish. Each dish we have is artfully prepared and satisfying. The final end to the meal; the dessert. The tiramisu has always been a solid pick. I love the creamy but decadent flourless chocolate, personally. You can't go wrong with the Italian classics or their twists on what you know and love. The service at Cinghiale is cordial and welcoming. They're happy to answer any questions and make you feel like a valued customer. I had been to Cinghiale before for dinner and remembered liking it but went again recently for a rehearsal dinner (with a 4 course menu) and it truly was amazing. The restaurant itself is nice, the staff are really great, and the food is amazing. Every course was well prepared and presented. Came here for my birthday dinner! I was having one of those uncontrollable urges for Italian food and decided to try somewhere different. I did a quick search for "Best Award Winning Italian" and Cinghiale came up for Baltimore's Best Italian Restaurant in 2020 and Diner's Choice Award in 2020 as well which still made it to the top of the list for 2023. My boyfriend and I both did the Prexxo Fisso Menu for $71.00 per person. This included a choice of antipasti, a choice of small primi, a choice of secondi AND a choice of dolci. In addition, you can also add the three wine pairings for $30.00 per person--of course we did this. I selected the following: Antipasti: Blue Fin Tuna Crudo (Tuna Crudo, avocado, fresh crisp oranges, juicy capers, fresh chives and spicy chili oil). Paired with the 2019 Verdicchio Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore. This pairing was the perfect amount to be considered an antipasti. It was crisp, fresh and delicious--the wine was one of my favorites of the night. Small Primi: Squid Ink Spaghetti alla Chitarra (Spaghetti with a small portion of lobster, calamari, shrimp, garlic, and basil in a spicy lobster tomato sauce). This was my least favorite dish of the night. When compared to the Italian restaurant across the street, Tagliata, this dish lacked flavor, spice and the seafood was a bit chewy--being a Pescatarian for 8+ years I would guess that the seafood had been frozen at least once. The texture didn't represent fresh seafood. Paired with the 2022 Vermentino di Sardegna. Secondi: Grilled Mediterranean Bronzino (Bronzino fish with eggplant caponata in a spicy local tomato sauce). THIS DISH WAS SO GOOD. I could eat this every day. Perfect sized dish and the food mixed so well together. Paired with a Chardonnay since my choice had the same wine listed as its pairing above and I wanted to try something different--very kind of the waiter to substitute. Dolci: Almond cake. The restaurant is open Monday through Friday 5:30 pm until 10:00 pm and Saturday from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. They also have happy hour at the bar Monday through Friday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The vibe here is upscale and very nice-- however is was really cold inside. The food is super pricey but was good. We got the whipped ricotta and tomato and (not ripe peach) dish and it was tasty but not enough ricotta. The burrata and stone fruits was delicious except too spicy? It was weird since it was fruit. My Bronzino was perfectly cooked and so was the eggplant and the spicy tomato sauce (yummy tomato soup vibes which isn't a bad thing) was cold so if that was hot it would have been perfect. My mom had sweetbreads which she liked but it was not for me glad I tried it before I left the neighborhood as I probably wouldn't go back. read more

I will start with the service of this establishment. 10/10! We were running a little late for our reservation because of an event taking place at the harbor causing traffic. The hostess gave us a call just to confirm that we were still coming. We arrived and were seated right away. Our actual server was top tier. Unfortunately I don't recall his name to give him kudos but honestly everyone we encountered provided us with high level service. We started with drinks. Espresso martini's, of course! They aren't typically made the way we enjoy them (which is creamy, I know I know) but they took no issue with us asking for a little alteration to the drinks (adding Bailey's). For my meal I ordered the full serving of Spaghetti Alla Chitara (no protein). I it was well plated and tasty. I did have to add salt, pepper, and cheese but I think that's up to the discretion of the audience. I enjoy tasting well seasoned sauces. I will also say the menu is a bit complex in my opinion. With this two drawbacks I couldn't quite give a 5 star review but there was no way for me to give 4.8 so I had to go with 4 stars. read more

A killer reputation, a dated decor though it still has a warm vibe and a view toward water. Very attentive nice service without being fawning. We had fun but feel we had our one-and-done meal. It's an expensive evening with very small portions and so many with butter and diary, which made it tough for one of us with lactose restrictions. Some standouts included the tuna appetizer and branzino. The bread wasn't warm and tasted a tad stale. We would recommend it to those who want a special evening and can pay upper prices for Italian food. Or sit at the bar and have a drink and a few appetizers. read more

What a beautiful restaurant! My hotel was a few blocks away so I decided to make a reservation and take a nice walk alongside the inner harbor. Once I'm seated, I have the place to myself. The wine list is substantial and I chose a nice glass of red wine to get the night started. The red wine comes to me, is it chilled?? It's good but something's off. I had a plan that I should have stuck to but my waiter talked me out of it. Next time I return, I'm ordering my way. Cinghiale serves 1/2 portions of pasta. It's always nice to have a taste of homemade pasta and order a nice fish dish. The waiter said the 1/2 order was too small so I ordered the grilled radicchio with pears as well as the Squid ink pasta topped with seafood. The grilled Radicchio was prepared perfectly. Slightly grilled with the right amount of cheese, very enjoyable starter. The pasta comes to me and it is bowl that's large and in charge. Homemade squid ink pasta in its own broth inter tangled with various fish. Why is it Baltimore just owns pasta with seafood? Every time I come, I'm served a fabulous dish of their local seafood. I ordered another glass of wine, still chilly?? The waiter is telling me about the desserts, the Tiramisu is the restaurant's specialty. The chef doesn't use lady fingers but a sponge cake. The risotto and branzino were very good. The service and ambience left much to be desired. The staff seemed indifferent and the decor (aside from the bar side of the restaurant) is outdated -- very dark, stained booth seats, etc. Despite all of that, if the food had been stronger throughout, none of the other stuff would have mattered. The appetizers were memorable, but honestly not up to par given the reputation of the establishment. Overall, a fairly disappointing experience. read more

I cannot remember his name but he took such great care of us. The service here is EXCELLENT. Now... the food. YUUUUM! I love Italian and after going to Italy for a week I think I know things. Had the best time here at a private family birthday event. Food was delicious and the service was impeccable. Valet parking was complimentary which was also a huge plus. We had a set menu however I had the steak as an entree which was amazing and cooked to perfection. I also had parsley soup and hazelnut cheesecake! Our service was second to none. We had a team who ensured that every need was met. From food to drinks to temperature, I experienced amazing customer service. I definitely want to return to try the full menu. The restaurant was absolutely beautiful, we made a reservation for an anniversary celebration and everyone who tended to our table knew. The service was phenomenal - could not asked for a kinder staff. We were greeted with a glass of champagne for our celebration and it only went up from there. I had an excellent birthday dinner at Cinghaile last week! My husband and I both did the 4 course menu for $71, which seemed like a good deal for the amount of food we were served. My first course, the burrata, was fresh and flavorful. He has the calamari and enjoyed it too. For the pasta course, I had the meat lasagna. Although it wasn't bad, it was my least favorite course - the bottom was a bit too crispy and the sauce was more tangy than I would have expected. My husband got the squid ink pasta and loved it, so I would probably try that one next time. My branzino main course was my favorite - the fish was really well flavored and perfectly cooked, and the sides of fennel and carrot puree were really good with it. My husband got the duck and really enjoyed it, too. I had the blueberry dessert and my husband got the one with other berries and ricotta - delicious as well. The place is very elegant and the service was great. We got a bottle of Chianti to split - there is an extensive wine list at all price points. I think our bottle was around $40 and was very good. Overall this was a really special meal and while it's a bit fancy for a typical meal for us, it was great for a special occasion and we will likely return. read more

Cinghiale is one of my favorite restaurants in Baltimore and I have gone there since their early beginnings, so I'm not sure how I haven't yet reviewed it. Everything can be ordered a la carte, but there is also a prixe fixe option that is appealing. In my opinion, the service has gotten less consistent and/or attentive over the years, but the food is worth it, and they have a classy yet lively ambiance. We were seated in the Osteria dining room for my fiancés birthday dinner. The owner/director, Tony Foreman, stopped by our table to give some menu recommendations after which it took another 10 minutes for our server to come by to take our drink orders. Our food order was taken after another 25 minutes at which time we began to be quite hungry. Our server was not well versed with the menu and instructed us the pasta dishes (risotto and pork ravioli) were not small plates but also not large. We ordered a salad, two pasta dishes, and the sea bass, expecting an ample amount of food. Salad came out quickly which was a small shared portion. Took another 40 minutes for the pasta to come and portions were quite small. The sea bass took another half hour to come after we had finished our pasta dishes. The food was excellent, yet way too small portioned and slow to be served. Our waitress was quite nonexistent after ordering our dishes. We got sorbet for dessert which was quick to arrive. Overall the experience took ~3 hours which was around an hour longer than we would have liked to spend on it his dinner. Overall paid $300 for these dishes plus a bottle of wine. Atmosphere was upscale but quite loud. The restaurant was packed for a Tuesday night. Waitress did not acknowledge it was my fiancés birthday and although other patrons received a birthday cake and song, we did not. Although the food was excellent, the service and atmosphere were quite poor. I am hesitant to return to this establishment given the high cost which did not correlate with the experience we had. read more

Cinghiale and the Charleston across the street are both by French-trained chef Cindy Wolf. While Charleston is the most formal of dining atmospheres, Cinghiale has two areas so you can choose from either a more casual or formal setting. I had the caprese salad, carbonara, and lamb. The menu listed online is slightly different than the one actually offered. The Peach Bellini was light, bubbly, and refreshing! As for the food...I'm a cheese lover in all forms, so I enjoyed the mozzarella ball and tangy salad dressing. The carbonara was HEAVY and RICH. I was stuffed by the end of that course. I barely had enough room for the last dish! But then came dessert. I would say the tiramisu was my least favorite thing of the night. It has a bit too much coffee powder on top, and is probably best eaten after mixed to avoid inhaling a cloud of dust. read more

Nice Italian Restaurant in Baltimore Ordered: (Prezzo fisso menu) (App) Grilled Rhode Island Calamari - 5/5 - Very unique presentation of calamari, I have not often seen it without breading in restaurants. It was very well cooked and had a lot of flavor thanks to the garlic and chillies. The crispy carrots were so unique and light. (Main) Spaghetti Nero - 4/5 - Excellent, strong squid ink flavor. The shrimp were slightly over cooked, but everything else was great and had excellent lobster flavor. (Main) Grilled Magret of Duck - 5/5 - The duck had such a crispy crust, and was very well cooked. The red wine sauce was very good and the crispy guanciale were so packed with flavor. This was my favorite dish. (Dessert) Peach Crostata - 2/5 - The crostata was a complete letdown. It was soggy and had a very unusual flavor, which was not great. The vanilla Chantilly and anglaise were good, but could not really salvage the dish. (Dessert) Sorbet - 4/5 - Nothing special, but tasted great. Love the atmosphere of this place. Our waitress was so nice. She kept checking in and had a lot of insight into the menu. We went with the 4 course menu for $76, which was good value. All of the food was pretty good with the exception of the dessert I got. The crostata was a flop that hurt the experience. Came here for a work dinner on a thursday night. It was pretty packed for a thursday night. Around the area is pretty tight on parking but the restaurant provided complimentary valet parking! The service was great! The staff was very friendly. Although we had a large party, the staff was very attentive to us and refilling drinks and bread. The ambiance was very elegant but also felt homey (i think it was from the large walls and decor). Dress code seems business casual. We were in the back room and was very comfortable and did not have noise travel to our conversations. Food was good! Duck was very tender and rich. The cook was medium to medium rare. The portions were slightly smaller than i usually like. The pasta was good, i got the spaghetti. I also got the beet salad which was a light starter. The dessert i got was the sorbetto which was fantastic! The combination of flavors were nice and had a nice tart from the passion fruit. Really enjoyed the experience! read more

This rating is based on food only. I got a prezzo fisso menu and shared some bites with a friend. i forgot which soup i had for the first plate but it had chickpeas. It was good, but wasn't the best - get the white soup instead (forgot what it's called). The tortellini do bologna i had was kinda disappointing because the pasta was not al dente - it needed more for the pasta to soften. For main dish, the halibut was much better than the scallops. The scallops were salty, the truffle's presence wasn't really there taste wise, and the potatoes helped with nullifying the saltiness. The gelato was good, the three scoops i got were def rich in flavor. I'd come back to try different dishes and for the gelatos. read more

The options looked amazing and I had a hard time choosing. I ended up getting the squid ink spaghetti that was supposed to be in spicy tomato sauce and many different seafood. When it came out it had barely any sauce and not the spice I was expecting. I also had very minimal seafood incorporated, I was looking forwArd to the lobster within and only found one piece, that my friend got when they tried some of mine:/ One of my friends ordered the scallions which I thought to be the best dish we ordered. Just stopped in briefly for a drink before going to a jazz concert at Keystone Corner. The interior is lovely, has an old world vibe to it I liked a lot. I sat at the massive bar and consulted the menu the bartender presented to me right away. They had a lot of beers on their drink menu and one satisfied my snobbery so I ordered it. As I said, this was a quick stop in before another venue and thus I wasn't there long, but it was a nice place to grab a drink and I'm very interested in having a meal here soon. read more

I somehow missed visiting here when I lived in Baltimore, but I ended up finding this place serendipitously on a visit while walking through Harbor East. The restaurant had an excellent three-course tasting menu at a reasonable rate. The first dish was a fava bean, mint and lemon bruschetta which was among the best appetizers I've had in my life. I also ordered a fish dish and a ravioli dish, both of which were excellent. To close the night, a warm, refreshing cappuccino, the perfect capstone. Came here for the first time! To begin with, amazing service. That's probably one of the biggest things- everyone is very attentive and offered a ton of knowledge especially in terms of picking a wine bottle for dinner. The chef gave us a delicious sample of mozzarella and pesto with our complementary warm focaccia bread which was a great way to start the dinner. We did two half portions of pasta and the Boar tenderloin as a main course. We skipped antipasti which ended up being plenty of food with dessert. We got the squid ink pasta with seafood, which was good, a little dry but overall tasty. We enjoyed the tagliatelle with lamb much more and would definitely order that again. The lamb was delicious and probably the best thing we ordered. Unfortunately we found the boar tenderloin a little dry as well. We did the Afogatto as dessert and the restaurant kindly gave us Tiramisu on the house. We loved the Affogato and thought it was the perfect way to cap the meal. The Negroni Bianca was our favorite cocktail and we ordered it three times between the two of us. Will definitely be back now that we know what we'll like! read more

Came here for a restaurant week and overall the service and atmosphere was really good, but the food was not as good as we hoped it would be after hearing and reading so many great reviews. The Cinghiale cocktail was good looking but the drink was too sweet for my liking. I wish the basil was stronger--it just tasted like an alcoholic version of Hi-C. The appetizers were one of the better parts of the meal. I got the Mortadella de Bologna which packed a lot of flavor while staying quite light, the crostini crumbs offered nice textural contrast to the dish. The entrées were quite disappointing. The Cinghiale Stuffato was dry, tough, and lacked flavor. The Anolini filled with roasted chicken we received was so dry and bland that we exchanged it with the Grilled Bronzino, which was much, much better. It was flavorful and light, while maintaining a crispy skin. The boiled vegetables and roasted potato were a good touch on the side. The Espresso Brioche Torta was very dry but the sweet sauce that it came with was decent. Overall our dining experience was disappointing especially after having high expectations for the restaurant. I hope to come back another day to try things off the menu their normal menu in hopes that restaurant week menu was just a fluke. read more
