Came here for a restaurant week and overall the service and atmosphere was really good, but the food was not as good as we hoped it would be after hearing and reading so many great reviews. The Cinghiale cocktail was good looking but the drink was too sweet for my liking. I wish the basil was stronger--it just tasted like an alcoholic version of Hi-C. The appetizers were one of the better parts of the meal. I got the Mortadella de Bologna which packed a lot of flavor while staying quite light, the crostini crumbs offered nice textural contrast to the dish. The entrées were quite disappointing. The Cinghiale Stuffato was dry, tough, and lacked flavor. The Anolini filled with roasted chicken we received was so dry and bland that we exchanged it with the Grilled Bronzino, which was much, much better. It was flavorful and light, while maintaining a crispy skin. The boiled vegetables and roasted potato were a good touch on the side. The Espresso Brioche Torta was very dry but the sweet sauce that it came with was decent. Overall our dining experience was disappointing especially after having high expectations for the restaurant. I hope to come back another day to try things off the menu their normal menu in hopes that restaurant week menu was just a fluke. read more

My aunt and I hit Cinghiale for restaurant week on a cold Saturday night. Luckily for us, there was complimentary parking. We pulled up and handed off our keys and headed right inside. We were met as soon as we walked in by a very friendly host who took our coats and seated us promptly. The interior was dimly lit and buzzing with folks having a great time. As soon as we sat down, our server came over and offered us water options. We looked over the restaurant week menu and decided we liked their $66 four course meal option a bit better. My aunt started with the potato soup, which was delicious. I wasn't a fan of the dried mushrooms, but the soup was perfectly seasoned. My shaved Brussels were just ok but my aunt loved them so there is that. I highly recommend the wine pairing with each course. I'm not that great at choosing wine and loved that it took the guess work out of choosing a drink. My second course, the squid ink pasta was amazing. I summoned my inner home training and did not drink the broth but the complimentary bread was dipped repeatedly. Did our 3rd course, we ordered the lamb shank. The portion was so big, I couldn't finish it. It was quite delicious from what I tasted. It was literally so tender, it was falling off the bone. I was slightly disappointed that they were out of the cheesecake but was pleasantly surprised at the donuts I received in place of them. I cant forget to mention the tiramisu that was AMAZING. (Do you know how many trays of homemade lasagna I could make for $30??!!) The food is very good and the menu offers enough variety to satiate pasta lovers and picky eaters alike. We had an amazing Valentine's weekend dinner here! The prezzo fisso menu ($66 for 4 course +$30 optional wine pairing) was an amazing value and each course was very well prepared. The ambiance in this restaurant is beautiful and definitely achieves the upscale Italian wine lounge vibe. Perfect for date night! For our food, we both ordered the calamari to start. For the primi we ordered the squid ink spaghetti and risotto. Both were absolutely delicious and the highlights of our meal! For secondi, we ordered the duck and rockfish. The wine pairing for the duck was the best of the night--we loved it so much we went home and ordered a case! Finally, for dessert we ordered the hazelnut cheesecake and it was a perfect finish. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and wines, and it was really cool to get a little mini lesson with each of the wines! He did a fantastic job giving recommendations as well. I came here on a Saturday night. The pluses: this restaurant is lovely to look at and the service is solid. Unfortunately, the food itself is lacking. Are you hungry? Too bad. I was starving going in and I was still hungry when I left three courses later. The portions are paltry, even with the full sized pasta dishes. I'm impressed by the audacity of this place, selling protein free noodles for nearly $30 a plate. We had the spaghetti and gnocchi and, honestly, I would have been better served going to the Olive Garden. The main dishes are no better. The prosciutto wrapped chicken and the veal were ordered. Same story: small portions, nondescript flavor profile. I was disappointed but take nothing from the staff who were attentive. If you must come here: have a snack ready. read more

A fun night with great people and a great place. Wine lovers rejoice. This place has been at the top of my list to visit when in Baltimore. They have the largest wine selection I have seen in the area. The place feels upper class with prices that'll have you buying a little bit of everything. Came here as a party of 8 for my friend's bachelorette dinner. I was pretty excited to try this place because I've only heard good things and perused the menu beforehand. It was a pretty slow evening and we got there at 8:30 PM Once everyone arrived, they seated us and took our drink order. We ordered a bottle of champagne and everyone also ordered their own alcoholic beverage of choice. Once our drinks arrived, we were wondering where our waiter was. The group decided to give him time and we continued to chat. It took the waiter about 25 minutes before he came over to take our order. Mind you, we were seated on the left side of the door when you walk in. There were only 4 tables seated in this area, one of the tables was including our party. He took everyones' order and then brought put the bread. Another 35 minutes passed by and still no food. Everyone was so hungry at this point and we asked for some more bread. The waiter comes back with completely blackened burnt bread. He doesn't say anything and clears our table. He takes the bottle of champagne, which we later find out you can write on and leave in the restaurant to commemorate your night. I will get to that shortly. At this point, everyone is displeased with our service. So the sister of the bride goes to find the manager and speaks with them. They don't seem very receptive because the woman brings over two full baskets of bread. It's not about us wanting more bread, but about the service and how that burnt bread even was okay'd to go to a table. Shortly after, more people that we didn't even know existed started to appear at our table. They slowly brought out our dishes. I got the squid ink spaghetti. The dish was lacking a lot of flavor and was almost room temperature. Others in my group also mentioned that their dishes didn't taste like much. For the price of this place, it was very underwhelming. As we finished and paid, I'm not sure if they felt bad but they gave us a complimentary bottle of wine. Honestly, we would've been better off buying a bottle at Trader Joe's. I love sweet wines and I have to say the prosecco was disgusting. I'm not quite sure if the service was subpar because gratuity was automatically included or if they were having an off night. So happy that my mom wanted to check this place out during a walk in Fells Point harbor one beautiful early spring Saturday! The inside is very old school classic.. seems very distinguished, which was different than a lot of the spots in the area. We were greeted very warmly by the hostess who took our temps and had us give our information for contact tracing. I appreciated the touch of responsibility. We were able to sit at the bar (no one else was at the bar), so we had it and the server all to ourselves.. and Nate was a gem! I ordered the Cosmo d'Oro which was nicely balanced with tart and sweet.. my mom ordered the lobster bisque which was some of the best that I've ever had! Such a beautiful smokiness that just elevated it from the norm. Dipping the complimentary bread in it was just delightful. Now... on to the star of our drinks and apps only venture... BRUSCHETTA. My goodness that was like a party for my taste buds. My sister and I were in heaven!! How could bruschetta be so darn good!? Maybe it was the homemade ricotta, artichokes, olives, chilies, mozzarella, and basil... Yes, this was not your normal take on your tomato based bruschetta.. and it beyond worked. I've visited several times; I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to write a review. The pasta dishes are always amazing - they taste unbelievably fresh. I loved the gnocchi with mushrooms and fonduta. The gnocchi was as soft as clouds. The tajarin with veal rugu is just as good, if not better. I regretted not getting a full portion as soon as I had the first bite. I've also tried the chicken saltimbocca, which is apparently one of their most popular dishes. The chicken was a tad dry, but I loved the Swiss chard and the creamy polenta. Everything worked well together. But I don't enjoy prosciutto as much when it's cooked, so I wouldn't order it again. The prices are very affordable considering the high quality of the food. If I'm feeling particularly ravenous I get the three course menu for $66. It's the best deal you will find in the area. If I want something light, yet filling, I'll get a half portion of pasta and glass of wine. I always leave satisfied. Lastly, the staff here is always so accommodating and welcoming. Just had a very disappointing Mother's Day dinner here. I had cool lobster soup with a chewy chunk of lobster in it to start. I had to use my knife to cut up the lobster, it hadn't been cut up into bite sized pieces properly. My dinner was purple potato gnocchi, which was good enough, a bit overpowered by green olives and light on artichokes and once again lukewarm but decent, though not up to what I would consider Cinghiale standards. My husband's short rib came with a comically thin swipe of pommes puree. It was about 2mm thick over 2x4in of the plate. They gave him a cheese plate when he asked if this was normal but said that yes that was the way it was supposed to be. The service was really below par. They put our bottle of champagne on the table. When we looked at the bucket next to the table the server put it in the bucket full of leftover water that was there (not ice). We had to ask several times for a high chair. Then we realized it was because they had to wait for the diners behind us to leave because they did not have enough. They didn't refill waters. They left us for so long after taking our dinner plates to order desert that we had to take desert to go. They didn't offer an alternative for the ice cream the child was supposed to get so he got nothing. My Italian cookies desert was not really not great. I could buy something better in an Italian grocery. This is my first visit since Cindy Wolf has separated from the restaurant and I don't like the big change I see. read more

I bought my boyfriend a gift certificate for Valentine's Day and neither of us had ever been to this restaurant. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and had safety measures in place. Cinghiale has been on my list of places for a Baltimore celebration / nice dinner for a long time! I was very excited to come to with my partner, but was sadly disappointed with my experience. I'll start with the good. While we chose outdoor seating (#covidsafe), the restaurant inside is beautiful and the location is impeccable. It was a beautiful view of the harbor which I think is a great fit for any occasion where you want to feel special or enjoy the weather. I was mostly disappointed by the service. Every time we had a question or made a request, I felt like our server went out of the way to make us feel unwelcome or like an inconvenience. I was a little tired and had ordered a decaf coffee. Our server mentioned multiple times that they would have to go out of the way to brew the decaf coffee (once when I ordered it, another time when he brought my partner his beverage, and again when he finally brought me my coffee). I appreciate that they were able to fulfill my request for decaf coffee, but was bristled with how many times the service staff seemed to go out of their way to let us know how much of an effort and inconvenience it was for them. To add insult to injury, the cup they served me the coffee in was also dirty. As another example, as the night progressed it became cold and we asked if they could turn on the heater that was next to our table, but turned off. The server again made it clear that he could turn the heater on but as soon as someone else came along to the table next to us then he would have to point the heater away from our table. I understand that we need to share heaters at restaurants (I'm sure they are expensive to operate), but the tone and general attitude was rude and unnecessary. Re: food - I thought it was fine. There were limited vegetarian options (which I knew going in), so be sure to check to make sure the ones available are to your liking. They don't seem to do any substitutions (I asked if we could substitute the dip for the fritto misto for something vegetarian and the server looked at me like I had asked for their first-born child. We ended up with the arugula salad instead which was great). For entrees, we got the risotto and gnocchi which were both very, very mushroom-y and heavy (as risotto should be!). It was great news for me, a mushroom lover, but less exciting for my partner. We also got the apple crostata which was also good. All in all, I would have loved to make this my spot for nice dinners, but am not interested in paying the prices here to be made to feel unwelcome or like an inconvenience. read more

Wife and I had dinner the night before at Charleston ! We enjoyed it so much we had to try the Italian restaurant from the same group and it didn't disappoint. Cinghiale came highly recommended by various people, and for good reason. We both got the $71/ per person prezzo fisso and everything was amazing, literally well worth the price point. Our server was very attentive even though there seemed to be a large party in the other room that often required all hands on deck. We never waited for anything, as soon as our water glasses needed filling there she was to top us off. Our meals came out hot and delicious and our server was great with answering any questions that we had and made some great recommendations for us. A couple of things didn't quite hit the mark but that is definitely just from personal preference. I will absolutely dine in again when I return to the Baltimore area. read more

Was really excited to try Cinghiale during Baltimore Winter Restaurant Week 2020, but left feeling underwhelmed and hungry. We chose Cinghiale not only because of its high reviews and reputation, but also because all of the options sounded amazing. You know it's a good sign when you study the menu beforehand and can't easily pick in your first once-over. First course: Beet Salad with Aged Balsamic Pretty good. The balsamic was sharp and tangy, plenty of beets. Large portion size. Second course: Squid Ink Spaghetti Only ok, pretty unimpressed with this dish as a whole. On the drier side, which I like, but the spaghetti itself didn't have that handmade richness to it. I chose this dish specifically because it was topped with octopus, calamari, mussels, etc. So few, and of what was, tiny. Dessert: Apple Crostada Cold apple pie that was crust-heavy. I got to try my boyfriend's food (minestrone soup, veal and panna cotta) and his options were far better. The veal and polenta combo was delicious. The panna cotta was something to ring home about. Despite the lackluster experience, the service was great. The kitchen was backed up and we were offered some antipasti on the house for the wait. read more

This is one of my new favorite restaurants in Baltimore! To begin, I love that this restaurant offers complimentary valet to their guests. Very convenient considering the location. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating but the restaurant interior is so beautiful, I would recommend sitting inside. Once seated at our table, someone came over immediately with water and complimentary bread. Our waitress, Emilia, was very nice and attentive throughout our dinner. We spent 3 hours here purely out of enjoyment! For drinks we had the Cosmopolita d'Oro which is a lovely drink. It's well balanced and perfect for someone who enjoys a slightly tart yet refreshing cocktail. Since it was our first time dining here we did the Prezzo Fisso menu which includes an antipasti, primi, secondi, and dolci. Everything that we tried was absolutely delicious. I would order every dish again! On top of that the menu is very well-priced with the Prezzo Fisso being only $71 per person. I would highly recommend trying this restaurant for any occasion. Can't help wondering if the local chain that has some success is focussing on bean counting now? Too bad. Even the recommended wine failed to impress. I really expected more at this price point. I ventured over to Cinghiale, lacking a reservation at my first choice nearby. I was one of 4 sitting at the spacious bar. I ordered the anchovy salad, fois gras, and lamb tagliatelle. The salad was sandy and gritty, at first I thought maybe something had dropped in it, but it seemed as though the lettuce was just unwashed. Unpleasant, didn't finish. The fois gras was tiny, but acceptable. Unfortunately, I had to wade through salt to find any flavor in the lamb tagliatelle. The service was mediocre, had to ask to clear plates, hunt someone down for more wine, etc. Forgettable and slightly unpleasant experience, and will not be going back. read more

Excellent meal at this Foreman Wolf restaurant in Harbor East in Baltimore. Dining alone so chose wines by the glass rather than a bottle from their very large book of Italian wines. I started with a glass of Vermentino. I then went with a glass of Sangiovese, the single worst glass of wine I have ever tried. Quickly had it replaced by a very good glass of Chianti. To try different parts of the menu, I went with the 4 course Prezzo Fisso. Select one item.from every part of menu. Started with with grilled calamari, then seafood with squid ink pasta, description was better than it tasted... I didn't do that this time because it was half price Wine on Tuesday. Instead, I shared an amazing fruity and delicious Super Tuscan that I would never have tried at a restaurant-- unless it was half price. I was also concerned if I could eat 4 course -- well the food is so good, it would have been simple. Started with an escarole and endive, with blood oranges and grapefruit, dressed in a light vinaigrette that was out of this world delicious. The grilled duck breast, served medium rare, was a mouthwatering delight. For dessert, the selection of homemade fruit sorbets sent me into food heaven. Wait staff was helpful, attentive and made it a memorable evening. Lengthy wine list focused on Italy of course. I came here after I couldn't eat at Cindy Lou's because the fried chicken was burnt and dry, and Cinghiale was also a complete flop. I guess I just wasn't meant to have a good meal last night which is sad with the plethora of restaurant options in Harbor East. Once again the ambiance was great but the food fell hella short. I had the tagliatelle clam pasta which had absolutely no flavor. I was determined to eat - so I reluctantly asked for salt and heavily salted that plate of blandness in front of me and ate it. My husband had the lasagna and the top was burnt- is that normal? Did the chef think it was cute to serve burnt lasagna? I have never seen burnt lasagna in my life! We ate quick- we paid and we left. We talked to another Couple next to us and they also said their food was "meh" at best. 1 star for the nice decor- 1 star for the trendy cute waitress although she was not around and inattentive and 0 stars for the food. read more

I was so excited to come here for restaurant week! We got the 3 course meal with the wine pairings and it was pretty tasty. My favorite was the starter which was a fancy mozzarella cheese stick type dish that was topped with olives and anchovies! I'm not a big fan of anchovies but this paired excellent with this dish! I had the Branzino for my main course which was good but can you say caper overload (as you can see from the pic)!!! I scrapped them off and it still had the nice salty flavor which was good. My friend got the wild boar and said it was very flavorful and tender. Unfortunately dessert was a bust and I didn't like the Lemon tort. The other dessert at the table was a chocolate dessert and it wasn't very desirable either. They do not specialize in desserts here so don't get your hopes up there but everything else was good! Service/Cleanliness: Upon walking in, we were greeted by a very kind host. She took our temperature and had us fill out a form saying we haven't been COVID+, felt sick, not exposed. They also take your information in case there is an outbreak in their restaurant, which I greatly appreciated. Our server Chris was amazing! He really helped us thru the menu, and offered some great suggestions. I love when a server adds something to your dining experience. The entire vibe of the space was amazing, very clean, but had some character as they had signed bottles of past guests all around the room - loved that. Food: They start you off with some amazing house bread that is topped with strawberries!!!! And served with some of the best olive oil I have ever had. We even got treated with an amuse-bouche - freshly fried squash blossom from one of their local wineries! We all ordered the four course option, and two of us got the wine pairings that went along with it. I started with the Arugula Salad - served with strawberries, parm, lemon preserve and lemon vinaigrette, it provided the freshest bite! You'll also see a photo of Foie Gras posted, my friend said the flavor was amazing, especially with all the accompanying sauces. Another friend got the Salmon Crudo, and gave it an 8/10, as far as smoked salmon with capers as a flavor profile goes. The second course was your choice of a mini pasta dish. Three of us got the Tajarin served with Lump MD Blue Crab and scallops and OMG it was sooooo good I forgot to take a picture haha served with a lemon butter sauce, it was such a fresh and light for a pasta. Main reason I would return again. The pasta pictured is the Squid Ink Spaghetti that was served with a spicy tomato sauce, shrimp, squid and lobster. The friend that ordered this LOVED it, and said she would would definitely order again. In my opinion the noodles were a little too thick, but I am more of an angel hair style pasta fan. Moving on the the main course I got lamb, because when there is lamb it is my go to. The flavor was insane! It was served with a fava bean purée that really balanced out the flavor with the lamb pancetta. My three other friends all got the NY strip, cooked to perfection, and just hands down delicious. Our final course was dessert! Pictured is Affogato - espresso poured over gelato with chocolate sauce, nuts and creme. Perfection! But I knew I would love it haha great after dinner snack. Pro-tip: Order the Prezzo Fisso option! That's the four course meal. It's a steal, and you get to try a little of everything! Also ask for Chris! The pastas here are incredible! They come in half and full portions and are very reasonably priced. The half portion is definitely enough for one person, especially if you're splitting an appetizer beforehand. We went here on a Monday night since it was one of the few nicer restaurants that was open. Our appetizers (salmon ceviche and grilled calamari) were delicious, as were the two pasta dishes we tried. When it came time for the main dish, we really could have moved on directly to dessert, but we were excited for the fish that we ordered. Sadly, compared to everything else, the main was a disappointment. We could have purchased this same fish at the store and prepared a much more flavorful and creative meal in under 10 minutes using whatever was in the fridge. When you go to a nice restaurant, you expect the dishes to be flavorful and creative. This dish was neither. It should also be mentioned that the service was mediocre at best. The entire staff seemed to be new at this whole restaurant thing, and several times we found ourselves sitting for lengthy periods with no water in our glasses, empty cocktail glasses, or missing the silverware necessary to eat our food. Our server was also not particularly warm, and seemed disinterested in his work. At this price point, I'd have to recommend looking elsewhere until Cinghiale gets a bit more experience with preparing and serving food. read more
