They are there every Saturday and are the first vendor on the left as you walk in the main entrance. I had a great experience. Top notch customer service. The owner is very personable and friendly. They have a small menu of only 7 food items compared to their main location in Chinatown with a larger variety menu. This menu seems to be their popular items and according to the owner, the pork belly is their best seller. Even with just these items, I still had a hard time deciding what I wanted because it all looked so good. They not only have the menu posted but a picture of each menu item. I like when businesses do that, you know what you're getting. I opted for the Double Fried Chicken. It comes with 2 pieces of boneless chicken thighs (about 3 oz each), 2 scoops of white rice, cole slaw (about 1/2 cup) & a mild sauce. The chicken was wonderful! It was lightly breaded, not over cooked but fried just right to give the chicken a good crispiness. The thigh meat was still moist and not dry from over frying. Seasoning was just right, not overly seasoned, yet still tasty. Good 'ole fried chicken as fried chicken should be. The only problem I had with the chicken was there wasn't enough. Wish there were 3 pieces. The cole slaw was surprisingly good and I'm not a big fan of cole slaw. This one I liked. It was well seasoned, not tangy, and a lite creaminess with good crunch. The sauce that came with the chicken was also good. It tasted like ketchup with a kick. Keep in mind this is not fast food and usually everything is cooked to order with food trucks. The owner did advise me the wait would be 10 - 15 minutes. I was ok with that because then I knew I was definitely getting it hot and fresh. Overall, the food was great matched with first-rate customer service. It's a place worth a return visit. Support local!

I got the poke bowl, hubby got fish n chips. Food came out quick. The salad dressing was fresh and zippy, even quite umami. Quite delish - wait, not really... it's fricken awesome! The fish n chips came with one large filet of fish and chips. Not sure what kind of fish but it's dense and meaty. I took a bite and 'oh wow" escaped my full mouth. So, when a hair was found in my daughters cheesecake it was a bit shocking! The waiter recognized the grotesque error in production and immediately ask is she wolike another slice. She agreed and was presented with the hair free 8.50 version. It is common practice to not only provide the option of replacing the product for the customer but to remove the charge for the hair laced food from the bill. This action not only expresses the restaurants remorse but signifies their desire to keep you as a returning customer. Unfortunately this did not occur nor was any Kama' Aina discount applied (resident discount). Curious to know if the assumption that we, African Americans, are not aware of the rights a d wrongs in the service industry. Nonetheless, as a travel provider for tourists here in Hawaii, I will not longer recommend or refer tourists to Nico's pier 38 from this day forward. So sad. I expected more from this Honolulu establishment.

It was a pretty good first time visit despite the very small seating in the restaurant. And now the food... I had to pick between the BBQ sliders and the Chicken biscuits and gravy. And, for the price, they definitely gave me a good amount of chicken in correlation to the biscuit. The bites I got from the chicken and the southern gravy were really delicious. Eating the chicken with the biscuit and the gravy, a lot more pleasant there. I didn't really need the Louisiana style hot sauce. Chicken, spot on and crispy...the biscuit, light, delicate and soft... There's not really much I can find a complaint on, and the presentation looked so inviting to eat. I can definitely tell they put so much heart and soul into their food, and it comes out presented well. Next time, maybe I can try the BBQ sliders if I ever come across this place again. Thanks, Southern Love, you really made my day.

This is the furthest from fast food, and you cannot come here with the expectation of fast food. I enjoyed the best fried chicken in my life here. Freshly battered and fried. Accompanied by a beautiful potato salad, collard greens, and a tasty piece of cornbread. I would order an entire pan of that cornbread if I could. And you should definitely get a side of that potato salad. My boyfriend enjoyed their mixed plate which had rib ribs and a few other items, but I was too concentrated on my food to care about what he was eating. We came around 6 PM on a Saturday night and were served our food just after 7 PM. We were incredibly lucky because while we were sitting at the counter, we saw numerous parties try to come in to dine in, and there was no space available. Takeout is always an option, but you still need to wait for your takeout so be patient, walk around to the Sake shop down the street and come back in an hour to pick up your piping hot food. Parking is extremely limited so pray to the parking gods that you score a stall in front of the restaurant or try your luck on the street and take a short walk down.
