Kimchee fried rice here is my all time favorite. I have yet to love this at another restaurant. We…read moreeven ordered it for our wedding, and it was a huge hit. My daughter loves their honey walnut shrimp and fries. The breading to the honey walnut shrimp is always just right and it's not overly dressed with the honey or walnuts, either. This is also my husband's favorite app. We're sorta regulars here, so the service is always great. Servers greet with a smile and are quick to place orders for both food and drinks. When we sit at the bar, it's the same, as well. The bartenders are always friendly and take the time to get to know your name. It can get busy during the weekends, but if you're there before 6, it's usually not that bad.

It seemed to be a slow day for them but two other tables came in shortly after us. The girl who sat and served us was very nice & checked on us often. We got our drinks in a timely manner but the food took about 45 minutes to get to us after ordering. The table who ordered before us got their plates one by one at separate times so I knew kitchen staff was low that day. When our food came out it was presented nicely, but the burger patties seemed unseasoned. I believe they're previously frozen which ok since they don't specify it's made in house but it just lacked seasoning unfortunately. It's not too loud In there, lots of TV's to watch sports & I saw the girl happily change it for an other table who wanted to watch something in particular. They were also out of a couple things which the server made us aware of, later I overheard more things were out after another couple tried to order. The service was great but the food was ok.

I sincerely thought it wouldn't be enough food to fill me up. I was wrong. My husband and I are usually big eaters and we were both full. He ordered a bucket of beers - 5 for $25 which was a nice deal. The Nonna's Special Drink - "Lost In Rome" was both pretty and delicious! The service was excellent! It's a family owned business and family operated. They are very friendly, down to earth, and it's easy to kind of feel like family, even as a customer because of how easily they chat and talk to you as if you've known them a long time. Upon first walking in to the main entrance, it felt a little strange since this used to be a Foodland. But when we were sitting at the bar talking story, we kind of forgot that we were sitting in one small eatery that is a part of a larger food court type environment. It was a Friday night, which apparently is salsa night. There was an open area kind of in the middle of all the eateries where there was a couple teaching salsa to people who are interested in learning. From what it looked like it seemed that these were all individual people that showed up separately but partnered up to learn the dance. Overall, I would definitely recommend you check this place out. We liked it so much that we're going back again tomorrow night.

Friendly and personable, we were immediately remembered after our first visit. The soup is ono, the meatballs are awesome, and my fav is the Caprese salad. Drink at Nonna's and enjoy the events.

I got the poke bowl, hubby got fish n chips. Food came out quick. The salad dressing was fresh and zippy, even quite umami. Quite delish - wait, not really... it's fricken awesome! The fish n chips came with one large filet of fish and chips. Not sure what kind of fish but it's dense and meaty. I took a bite and 'oh wow" escaped my full mouth. So, when a hair was found in my daughters cheesecake it was a bit shocking! The waiter recognized the grotesque error in production and immediately ask is she wolike another slice. She agreed and was presented with the hair free 8.50 version. It is common practice to not only provide the option of replacing the product for the customer but to remove the charge for the hair laced food from the bill. This action not only expresses the restaurants remorse but signifies their desire to keep you as a returning customer. Unfortunately this did not occur nor was any Kama' Aina discount applied (resident discount). Curious to know if the assumption that we, African Americans, are not aware of the rights a d wrongs in the service industry. Nonetheless, as a travel provider for tourists here in Hawaii, I will not longer recommend or refer tourists to Nico's pier 38 from this day forward. So sad. I expected more from this Honolulu establishment.
