Spring rolls, fries and fried chicken. Huge wings!!!

It's a real hole in the wall that's a gem! Which I love!!!! Staff is friendly and always checks in you even it's busy and the food, so far, is good. I got the spring rolls, fried chicken and fries. It came out to about $45 ish dollars but it can easily feed 2 people and we would be full, or 3 people if it's just pupus. I love karaoke, and their sound system is really good (maybe a little loud) but the quality is there so that's what's important to me. Mics could use a little tuning but song selection is current. I went on a slow night so idk how they would do rotation. They said the patrons just take turns. Karaoke is 8/10 for me (compared to the other karaoke systems that they have out there). Food, service and ambiance is 10/10. Highly recommended.

Underdogs is actually a lot bigger than it appears from the outside, which is sort of nondescript - so much that you could easily miss it from the street. Lots of dining seating on the inside and plenty of room at the bar. Lots of flat screens on the walls, too, so I'm pretty sure this spot gets crowded during football season. Like many other bars around town, they have open mic karaoke. This spot is country-music friendly, so make sure your Garth Brooks is on point. Lots of local pupus in their menu. Kind of hungry so we ordered the following: - Dynamite chicken - 7/10: I would say it's like chicken karaage with lots of Sriracha mayo drizzled on top along with bonito flakes. Large and shareable pieces for maybe 2-3. Very filling and tasty. - Fried rice with smoked meats - 6/10: large portion shareable between 2-3 people. Good dish and they give you a lot of smoked pork meat. Unfortunately, the pieces were quite tough. Rice was on point and flavorful, however. This is a great spot to chill with nice people in a comfortable, unpretentious environment. Go off the beaten path for once and check this spot out as a great time was had by all.

Comfortable interior and HUGe TVs this is a great place to watch sports. Service was very friendly but could have some improvement. Hamachi carpaccio was pretty good and fried pork belly. Cons: They didnt have any beers on draft which I thought was strange for a sports bar, I asked for a menu but they didn't have any drink menu available, so the poor servers had to constantly repeat what beers they had. It was a busy night but the food took a very Long time to arrive some things almost an hour. Servers need a little more training. Granted they were pretty;) BUT We had to ask for water, water refills, plates, utensils, serving spoons, reminded them to check with kitchen if food was coming. Overall I would go there again if things get better but well probably go to another place next time.

Only difference now is they are a sit down establishment serving margaritas and the like. I try carne asada at almost every Mexican eatery I stop at and this place rises to the top. Authentic taste; as if you were somewhere in Mexico. Any menu item is well flavored. That's all you need to know. Oh, their portions are huge so be mindful when ordering. If I had to pick one thing bordering negative it is the location as they are on Kalihi Street well into the Kalihi Valley. But, you will get used to it after your first visit; afterall, it's worth the journey into the "valley" Couple things you should know and that is chicken enchiladas are not made daily. I think it's Tuesday and Thursday? Not sure but it is limited. If you don't already know, their Kapahulu location closed a few years ago. They do intend on opening another location in Pauoa Valley I'm told and another location in Pearl Kai... I hope I'm not spreading rumors.... Regardless.... get there or be square!

If you're looking for authentic Lao food, this place definitely delivers. We ordered the Soop Noor Mai (bamboo shoot salad), Lao-style Som Tum, Beef Red Curry with jasmine rice, and Seen Haeng (beef jerky). The standout dish for me was the Soop Noor Mai. It was unlike anything I've had before, with an earthy, herbaceous flavor and plenty of texture from the shredded bamboo shoots, toasted rice powder, fresh herbs, and greens. Every bite had something different going on, making it both interesting and deeply satisfying. The Lao-style papaya salad was fresh, vibrant, and packed with bold flavors. The beef red curry was rich, creamy, and fragrant with tender beef that paired perfectly with the jasmine rice. The only dish that missed the mark for me was the Seen Haeng. While the flavor was good, the beef was cooked a little too long and ended up drier than I prefer. I personally like Lao beef jerky with a bit more tenderness and chew. Everything else was excellent, and the relaxing garden setting made the experience even better. If you're craving authentic Lao cuisine in Honolulu, Olay's is well worth a visit. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu.

Our favorites tonight were the sampler platter (specifically the calamari and the spring rolls) and the mango sticky rice! The mango sticky rice and calamari are definitely up there for best we had! Personally the pad ki mao (drunken noodles) had something like maybe the chinese broccoli that over powered the flavor. I felt the same with the lemon of the pad thai. Overall it was a good experience but I would like to try other things like their sticky rice and curry.
