Service was good, they put the basketball game my son wanted to watch on the TV. They were decorated for St. Patrick's day. Their frozen margaritas are a tad sweet, but good alcohol content. I got the shrimp ceviche off their Peruivan menu, lemony and good crunch with the red onions. It came with sliced plantain chips. The table got the steak super nachos, filled with ingredients and flavor, the jalapeños gave the extra kick of spice. Also ordered the paella and shrimp al ajillo. Good portions and flavor. I was really very disappointed about my experience at Cinco de Mayo last evening. I used to frequent the restaurant and never had a problem. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. We would spend hours there and were never rushed out. After a few years of not going there, I was so excited to bring my boyfriend last night. The food is still delicious, as are their drinks and still reasonably priced. The entrees are large and come with rice and beans on the side. They are very generous with their portion sizes. It was the staff I was not pleased with at all-a young man who was our waiter and a young waitress. They didn't like that we asked for the last table as opposed to the spot they wanted to put us by the front door. The waitress needed clarification from the waiter each time we ordered. With our drinks when I asked for a virgin strawberry daiquiri, I had to explain what that was 3x because she didn't understand. The same thing happened when I ordered my entree. Despite it not being crowded, the staff continuously kept rushing us out. I would totally understand if people were waiting to come in, but that was not the case. I finally got upset and told the waitress that we wanted to take our time and not be rushed. We got the check and ended up enjoying the rest of our date night at another local spot. Always a good choice! The food is authentic and delicious. Sometimes there can be a language barrier with staff, but if I learned another language, then it probably wouldn't be a problem and that's really my problem not theirs. I have family that doesn't live far from there and it is always our go to and they never disappoint. They will lower the music if you ask. I came here on a Friday night expecting a large crowd but I'm guessing between the holidays and the ongoing Pandemic, it's affected business. The crowd was light but the drinks were flowing. I really liked the service we received by all of the staff. They were friendly and very attentive when we needed something. I must say though, the food was good but it was missing something. I recall coming here every so often for the last ten years as it's one of the better Mexican restaurants in the hood. Tonight's dinner was a little off for me but thankfully, everyone else at the table enjoyed theirs. I had the Cinco de Mayo combo which has one chimichanga, one taco and one enchilada. The beef in my enchilada was a little tough. The chimichanga was supposed to be fried more so that was disappointing. Taco was spot on. My friends ordered the steak with rice and beans and the creamy shrimp entree. Both were quite good I'm told. But believe me, the drinks were better! I'm not too familiar with this place, but after sitting down for a while, some customers came in and greeted the people behind the bar like friends. The Chicken Enchiladas with green sauce had good variety, and they came with rice, beans, and a little bit of guacamole. For drinks, we ordered the Coconut Piña Colada and Virgin Strawberry Piña Colada. The Coconut Piña Colada was not too sweet, while the Virgin Strawberry Piña Colada was good. **************** DINER BEWARE*************** Went here a couple of Saturdays ago with my lady to get some drinks. We sat at the bar and were attended to by the bartender. First we each ordered a drink. The bartender got my lady's drink order wrong but we brushed it off and she drank it. She ordered a dish which was decent at best. We ordered another drink each and she ordered the same drink again and this time the bartender got it right. So a total of 4 drinks and an entree were ordered. I ask for the bill and when the bill arrives I look at the amount and was surprised at how much it was coming out to (it was around $104 for the amount ordered). I didn't read the itemized bill I just chalked it up to inflation. I give my credit card to pay and the bartender happily swipes it and brings me the receipt to sign. Something wasn't sitting right with me though. I double check the bill and this time checked the itemized bill and come to the realization that I was being charged for and additional two drinks that I did not order. I mention it to the bartender and he looks at the bill all puzzled. He takes the receipt and goes to the computer to fix the issue. He ends up voiding the transaction and correcting the bill by removing the two drinks which brought the bill down to around $74. When he brought back the corrected bill his excuse was that he went ahead and took the liberty of charging us for two more drinks that he thought we were going to order. Ok buddy sure. While this was all going on there was a lady who I assume is the manager or owner staring at what was going on from afar almost as if knowing what was going on. Even if there was no ill intention and it was just an accident the excuse given just did not help their cause. This experience and the quality of food and drinks served are enough for me to not try this place again. Specially on Bell Blvd when there are so many more dining and drinkng options. So if dining here just double check your receipt to what you ordered as the casual unsuspecting diner could easily become a victim. My girlfriends took me out for my birthday to Cinco De Mayo. We were not interested in entrees so we decided to order a bunch of apps, shots, and drinks. We started off with empanadas, small nachos, and a chicken quesadilla. For our drinks we ordered vodka on the rocks, margarita, and a mango martini. Everything was delicious. We had such a good time catching up that we decided to order additional empanadas, shrimp chimichangas, and another round of shots and drinks. The chipotle mayo sauce that comes with the empanadas is out out of this world. The quesadilla was delicious. The nachos were pretty good. Although we were served a small portion we were able to easily split it between the three of us. I wouldn't order the shrimp chimichanga again because I did not care for the filling. There was way too much sauce and not enough cheese. I could barely taste the shrimp being that it was diced up so small. The filling looked like it was pureed and then scooped into the chimichanga. A big turn off for me. The drinks were awesome. Shout outs to the bartender with the heavy pouring. The girls surprised me and ordered me a tres leches cake. Prior to the cake coming out the staff came over to sing me Happy Birthday. A huge sombrero was placed on my head and I was told to open up my mouth so they could our tequila in my mouth. I will still give this place 4 star for some of the best homemade to order guacamole that I have ever had. I ordered medium spice and it was perfect we brought home what we did not finish and devoured it later. Their salsa was watery and bland. Chimichanga was overflowing with shredded chicken with very little cheese. It was seasoned very well. The black beans were good and the rice was fluffy, tender and seasoned very well. They do not give free refills of sodaa here so we were a bit shocked at the $9 charge for 3 diet cokes. We came here because I had a craving for mexican food. I also suspect that they use prepackaged guacamole because it has rarely tasted fresh. As soon as I started frequenting Cinco de Mayo weekly since moving into an apartment complex 2 blocks away, I have to say it's one of my favorite low-key spot on the strip for quick food & drinks. Nothing fancy, it's just ultra casual with authentic food. Roberto is the best bartender, too!!! Heavy tequila pours on their tasty margaritas here, they don't use pre-made mix. The guacamole, pulpo, quesadillas, empanadas, choriqueso etc. The guac is solid, hard to really mess that up. The pulpo was over-charred and overcooked, quesadillas are mediocre and straight to the point with no frills, empanadas were good not great and the chorizo in the choriqueso tasted fresh out of a plastic wrapped.
