We eat here all the time (surprised I haven't written a review). Although I am sure sometimes there is a wait, we tend to eat a little earlier and never have to wait. Their complementary chips and salsa are good. Always ask for the jalapeño ranch because it is great. I've never had anything bad here. My go to is the Elvis Presley - it is kind of a sampler plate. But I've eaten the chimichanga, taco salad, fajitas and others. And the price is always right. I think I'm currently the Duke here, which just shows how much I come here. read more

I stood at the hostess stand of Chuy's while 3 workers ignored me while standing 5 feet from me and saw me come in. Walked to the bar area and back, one of the 3 immediately helps this couple that came in after me. I stood more waiting as the other 2 talked to each other. All the workers dissipated never greeting me. Manager walking out a to-go order asks if I've been helped, I briefly tell her what happened as I'm walking out the door. She apologized and I thanked her and still left. Don't fight or argue or beg to be welcomed, take your money and leave. read more

I received a pro-active call from Vanessa, the manager at Chuys in Lubbock. She was super friendly and very apologetic about the experience...very professional. She even sent me out an additional gift card as an opportunity for Chuys to earn our business and loyalty back. You learn alot about a company by the way they react to a bad review and poor customer experience rather than when things always go right. Chuys handled this as constructive criticism and a teachable moment for their staff. It speaks highly of their organization. read more

First time at this Chuy's. Came because I'd had an outstanding meal at a Chuy's in San Antonio when traveling through there. I see other reviews speak of "great food", Sadly, i was very disappointed here in Lubbock. We went for a late lunch and I ordered chili rellenos. Actually the rellenos were excellent, but the side of charo beans was so heavily salted, they were inedible. Likewise the mexican rice was also inedible and strangely seasoned. My latina wife tasted and agreed. I am a frejolero and love my pintos. I also love mexican rice well cooked. I suspect that since we came mid afternoon, that the rice and beans were leftovers from lunch that had been sitting on a warmer until they were dehydrated down to a horrid concoction of salt and spices. The cook should never have plated these and obviously couldn't have taste tested prior to serving. On the better side, i decided to tell my server that the beans and rice were inedible, but that i never send food back as i know cooks like to retaliate. He did offer to bring a different type of beans (refried) and a less nasty variation of rice. Not great but better than the first attempt. Again, my rellenos were great and the service was good. Hence I'm giving them a 3 rating. For goodness sake, taste test the food you are plating if it's been sitting in a warmer all afternoon. I'll not be eager to return. read more

Back again and always delivers!!! I had something that was not in the menu but our waiter, Buck, said it's what he loves. Starts with sopa, refried beans and chicken, bang bang shrimp and then topped with an egg. Doesn't sound good but OMG it was amazing! They need this in the menu!!! It feels like a little bit of Austin in Lubbock. Food: The chuychanga in queso is amazing. Ive ordered it twice in the past two weeks. The outside is crispy and the inside is cheezy and gooey. If you aren't a cheese lover, I'd pass on queso and get it in another sauce (maybe jalapeno ranch). BUT if you're a cheese lover, then this thing is cheese on cheese on cheese! The chicken inside is flavorful and tender. The elvis chicken is also a winner. Its fried chicken breaded with lays potato chips. Each plate is served with rice and beans. I recommend getting jalapeno ranch to dip your chips! Service: The service is good, fast, and friendly. Atmosphere: Hip! The best tex mex spot in Lubbock. ask for creamy jalapeño with your chips. My favorite enchiladas are the deluxe chicken. I do like the chicka boom boom enchiladas as well but they're too spicy for me!! I just love how they put green chilies on everything!! & THE BEST TRES LECHES you will ever have. I got a whole one for my birthday. it's wonderful. the portions are awesome and it's actually not pricey at all! the fajitas for one are huge and can definitely be shared. they also offer curbside service which is great too! read more

Chuy's is a once small Texas chain that has since gone national. It used to be a special place to go to grab solid tex-mex in the Austin area and since has become a taste you can attain in a large portion of the country. However, don't look at this as a bad thing. Consider Chuy's comfort food. It's quality tex-mex that remains consistent every time. That can be a chore to find in a chain. Through our visits to Lubbock we quickly learned Chuy's is one of the better places to eat in town and one of the better chains you'll find in the region. Even though it's a chain service remains good whether dining in the bar or restaurant area. Meanwhile, on a Friday or Saturday night, be prepared to wait. It's no secret this is one of the better places to eat in town. And, if you're a fan of Rosa's get ready to be blown away (yes, they have homemade tortillas here, too). The only downfall we have found here is the chips are poor quality, meaning when you order guacamole (which is good) they'll break every time you dive in for a scoop. Beyond that, the food here is at least two notches better, if not more. If you're a soup lover try the tortilla soup. In fact, the bowl is enough for a meal and this clear, tasty broth will keep you coming back for more. Even the salads come with fresh, crisp lettuce rather than the poor iceberg you get at many chains. They have salad dressing that's made in house daily, too, which is much better than the store bought stuff competitors use. So what should you order? That's a tough question. You'll find all the normal tex-mex items and much of the same as you'd see in a normal Mexican restaurant. The burritos are definitely a lot of food. If you have an appetite don't be shy about ordering one. Meanwhile, oftentimes I'll order tortilla soup and tacos al carbon (the two tacos are a meal on their own). The fajitas are fair too, but many of my friends opt for one of the many enchiladas (there's several options). We've also enjoyed the chicken flautas and chuychanga. Keep in mind, they have a full bar here, too. And, if you want to watch sports there could be a spot in the bar where a few flat screens hang. After driving 3 hours specially to indulge in our Chuys craving we were highly disappointed. Our service was absolutely horrible. At the beginning the waitress asked us every 5 seconds if we were ready to place our order. We had to ask multiple times for refills. Multiple times for chip refill. Multiple times for silverware. Our orders were wrong. Meat was burned. Then we had to sit there and wait about 10 mins for our silverware. Food was either so spicy we choked on it or had zero flavor at all. Other then the chips and refried beans. And to top it all off within 30 minutes of leaving 4 out of 6 of us got sick. read more

I've had my share of Mexican food but never tried Tex-Mex. Visiting from from Salt Lake I thought I'd stop by a fan favorite and try the food. I got the beef tacos. The service was great and the food came out very quick. The crispy tacos were very good aside from the seasoned beef. I did not care for that. The salsa is a little spicy but the creamy salsa is really good. I wish I would have gotten something more with steak rather than the beef. It was OK but not amazing read more

Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night and it was packed! But we were seated quickly and our waiter brought out chips and salsa for us. I got the Tuesday special which was the spinach chicken enchiladas. Our food came out pretty quickly. The enchiladas were so good!! It was definitely more than enough food for me so I took one enchilada home for later. Their happy hour margs are also great! Chuy's is one of my favorite tex-mex restaurants in lubbock. Most of all of their staff are around college ages but they are very respectful and friendly. Every time I've ordered here the food has tasted amazing and cooked to perfection. The waiter had checked on me multiple times making sure my needs were met and that I always had water. PREACHING TO THE CHOIR OR THE UNCONVERTED? I went to Chuy's with a large party of my co-workers; many of whom had been to Chuy's in the past and were stoked to go back. Frankly, I'd never heard of Chuy's and had no idea what kind of food was on their menu. I was not exactly thrilled when I learned they are a Mexican restaurant because I don't eat Mexican food ever. Why? Simply stated it's because it's excessively high in fat, sodium and calories. However, this is not a review, which seeks to slam a restaurant just because it serves food that can wreak havoc with your physique. Suffice it to say that my colleagues were in "7th Heaven" with the Chuy's menu and every single one of them loved their meals. I didn't want to be a Pollyanna so I tried really hard to find something on the menu that I felt was healthy. Sadly, not one single entree fit the bill. So I asked the server if they could carve some meat from a chicken breast and serve it plain and they were happy to oblige. A little salt and pepper and I was satisfied. On a more positive note the service was outstanding. We had a young man whose name I wish I could reference but as I write this review his identity eludes me. Nevertheless, our server was prompt, professional, hard working, personable and an asset to the restaurant as it sure isn't easy waiting on a table of 20+ people. Still, he kept the free tortilla chips constantly filled and replenished people's beverages frequently. Today, I was the silent majority. In closing I'd say that Chuy's is a great choice if you are someone who is totally cool with consuming carcinogenic processed meats and high-fat dairy products. I am giving Chuy's three stars because I can't be objective since I didn't truly sample (by choice) any of their meals and my peeps really love your venue. read more

Last time we ate here, there was an issue with the service and a slow kitchen. Same thing this time. We come to Chuy's for the margaritas and the great chips and salsa. Those are definitely 4star. Sat down at 12:15. Was waited on at 12:30. It's 12:55 and still haven't received our food. The table next to us sat down 5 minutes after us and have already finished their meal. Tonight we ordered Togo food from this Chuys location. They ignored a request for all of the toppings for my tacos to be on the side and had to remake the order. They then forgot the side of rice and beans with the order and my husband had to drive back up to pick it up. That's a 40minute round trip of gas we had to use. No manager came to speak with him and no one offered to reimburse us for the meal and the inconvenience. When I called up there to speak with someone about the order I was put on hold....indefinitely. I guess because no one wanted to deal with customers. This specific location lacks professionalism and it's probably due to poor management and college kids for employees who could careless about their job. But what really pissed me off was the side of rice I ordered. I included a picture to show the sprinkle of rice they decided to give us for our trouble. I just came here for some good Mexican food. I ordered a crispy taco and when I got it. I just looked at it and then at the waitress and I'm not the complaining type but Jesus Christ there was no meat on the damn thing! Like 2 pinches of meat and then a ton of lettuce and tomatoes. I would not recommend this place to any of my friends. But on Mondays during happy hour they have the car hood and they open it up and it's filled chips, dip,and meat. My boyfriend's least favorite type of food is Mexican, but today at Chuys changed his mind a bit. We went in on a Friday night & it was very busy, but fortunately only a 25 minute wait. Once we were sat they set down their amazing salsa Fresca & chips. We already knew what we wanted so we ordered combo fajitas for two & I had a miller lite. My boyfriend is a big just meat & cheese person so it was the perfect meal to share. The meat was seasoned perfectly & I loved they gave a big bowl of condiments on the side. We each had our own bowl of rice & although it was busy it wasn't so loud that we couldn't hear each other. Our server was great! I wish I remembered his name. Chuy's is great! They are an easy choice when you want great customer service, comforting tex-mex, and some of the best Margaritas in town! I've been here multiple times and it's never disappointed! They are so accommodating with large groups! You can't make a reservation, but I've never had to wait for more than 20 minutes. Their patio is also one of the most pleasant! During the summer it's always hot and windy but their patio has just enough shield to make it bearable most of the time! Went in for lunch yesterday with my mother. We had Marcy as our server. She was great! From suggestions to asking all the right questions.
