Had a bad experience at this Chuy's tonight. My boyfriend and I went to get dinner, our waiter was 30s-40s, white, and he was wearing a hat. He didn't introduce his name or wear a name tag (from what I could tell) First off, he started off with the basic "what can I get for yall", didn't ask us how we were doing or engage in any other kind of basic costumer service questions. We ordered drinks and food, and that was pretty much the last time he talked to us. He didn't refill salsa, ranch, our sodas, our water, or anything. (He did refill the chips once). When it was time for our food, he handed it to us and walked away without a word. We didn't hear or see from him again for about 10-15 minutes. There were several things we would have liked to tell him like "could we get refills?" or "could we get a to go box?" Our waiter gave us the silent treatment for about half of our time ay chuys. When the time came, my boyfriend managed to wave him down and ask for the check and a To-go box. Our waiter didn't even stop or confirm what we had just said to him. He just stared at us and walked away while my boyfriend asked for the check. Similar to the food, he just handed us the check wnd to go box without a word. Everyone has a bad day now & then, and yesterday must have been Chuy's. We were served pico instead of salsa, not fun to munch on, then our food came. My chicken enchiladas had no flavor without adding the tomatillo sauce. My husband's Chuychanga was so full of cilantro he couldn't taste much else. My wife and I go to Chuy's in Lubbock weekly. We love their beef fajitas which are usually pretty good. The last couple of weeks however, the beef fajitas have been off. The meat hasn't had the flavor it's previously had and it's been cut wrong making it extremely difficult to bite and chew. The topper this week was refried bean, they tasted like old dish water. I don't know if something was spilled in them or the pot wasn't cleaned well, but they smelled and tasted terrible. I hope they get this corrected soon. read more

Had a small issue with the food for the first time and it was easily and appropriately fixed. My complaint was we had to track down another waitress. We simply asked her to find our waitress because ours would look and run off. She didn't complain she simply asked what the problem was and we told her and she took matters into her own hand and took care of us. If Marcy is your waitress, you better ask for another one. She is a complete joke. Especially to be an older woman in her mid to late 40s. Of course she got all nice once we asked for a ticket. Kept giving my husband refills but never asked me. Went here with a good friend of mine who spoke highly of this location and the chain. It left ALOT to be desired. The food was mediocre and the waiter was trying but either he was nervous or just not confident in his skills. Personally I would not go there again. I made a online order.2 orders of Taco al Carbon. One order for my wife who must have a gluten-free meal with corn tortillas. The other one with flour tortillas. One of the orders were supposed to have double rice. The online message said for me to be there at 8:13 p.m., I arrived at 8:18. P.m.., I went inside to get my order. They told me they were putting it together. That took 10 minutes which told me they hadn't even started on it. When I got my order home, they did not give me double rice from one order and they put flour tortillas on my wife's order and corn tortillas on mine. It does not stop there. The beef on the tacos were medium rare. I had to recook them our meals at home and we had to switch the tacos. My wife took gluten relief to lessen or stop the gluten allergy from making her ill. This definitely was not worth the $32.00 we paid. read more

Discovered Chuy's in 2014 when we lived in Lubbock while husband attended Texas Tech University. The food is always always fresh, seasoned perfectly, and we rarely wait for our meal to arrive. The chips and salsa is so good it's easy to fill up on the crunchy goodness. We are visiting the campus and had to drop by for dinner and the food is just as scrumptious as it was years ago. I picked this not knowing it was a Texas chain. I loved it. Second best food I had on my visit to Lubbock. Particularly I enjoyed the tortillas. They reminded me more of homemade than any other I have had in a big restaurant. The refried beans were also good. We were greeted by two masked hostesses that were very polite. We were quickly seated. My girlfriend got the happy hour house margarita and absolutely loved it. Pure lime juice and no syrups. She also loved her chuychanga covered in spicy boom boom sauce. I wanted meat so Tyler, our fabulous waiter, suggested his sizzling meat combo fajitas. He wasn't wrong! Tyler's meat was wonderfully tender and flavorful. Wrapped in a handmade flour tortilla, the grilled onions and peppers and just a touch of cream complimented his meat perfectly. No real issues except when given two knives, we hoped to exchange them for one fork and a knife and she gave back two forks. Funny. Good recommendations nevertheless. Food Beans (although super spicy and flavorful) did taste like they came out of can. But they were delicious! Rice was also good. Loved the chips (they were light and crunchy). We ordered two steak burritos and I made sure to get mine with beans. Worth it. The other burrito without tasted super spicy and just not as good.... but to be honest, who would not do that? Every burrito should have beans. Boom boom enchiladas were a score with the mom, they tasted like cilantro to me (which I like) but the chicken was deliciously shredded. That was awesome! The price definitely delivered. Very cheap food: sold me on that! Overall, decent enough. Too bad this chain couldn't deliver more for being a TexMex favorite and such. I called and nicely informed them that we had gotten sick here, and the manager on duty took an attitude with me, informing me that "food poisoning takes 8 hours to set in". Nah man check your facts. My favorite is their Deluxe Chicken enchiladas, the tomatillo sauce is perfectly zippy and refreshing! Their Fresca salsa is amazing, but is sadly outdone by their Creamy Jalapeño Ranch! I eat at Chuy's when I'm feeling up, feeling down, sad or happy, I have never had anything to complain about on their end! I'm an old school Tex-Mex person. I like my nachos served on a hot plate with refried beans and cheese - and a couple of jalapeños on the side. Chuy's was super close, but they needed more cheese and chips half the size they used. I believe they're using half of a hard taco shells which is not a bad idea because the chips they use with the salsa, while excellent, would not be thick enough for this type of nacho. One thing that I find unforgivable - and the reason for 3 stars rather than 4 - is that I couldn't get onions without green chillies only quesadillas. That says to me (at best) that they can't be bothered to cut up an onion and saute it because they don't serve onions without stupid green chilies. At worst, that means that they are getting their vegetables delivered in a bag from a central location - something I expect from Chili's or TGIFridays, not someplace like Chuy's. I expect better. Way better. I didn't change my stars because of the noise, the screaming baby, the waitress not asking for my entree order. The noise and baby aren't Chuy's fault and the waitress thing, while just one of a few weird things she did, was more strange than bad. She was otherwise fine. I'll go back for sure, but honestly, I'd really rather Lubbock had a Papasitos. Or that Chuy's would lift Papasito's Mantequilla sauce. That would be awesome too. read more
