Moving to Texas, I knew that I would find great tex- Mex. I came here on a recommendation, let's just say I was not disappointed! It was a little overwhelming when you walk in and you don't know what to expect. However, after taking it all in and geting the friendly service you quickly get acclimated to the busyness that is Chuys. I have been back several times and I would absolutely recommend the flautas! Very delicious! If you like to end the meal with a nice finish, I recommend the sopapillas. They come out piping hot, soft and they aren't too sweet or heavy, but do add that perfect end to a great meal, great service and a wonderful atmosphere. read more

I like Chuy's. A lot. I LOVE their chips and salsa. They make the freshest salsa I've ever had. I crave it often. I also love their fish tacos. They are quite tasty. I am not a fan of their beans--either version--nor their rice. That is not to say it's bad. I just don't care for it. The Tres Leches cake is delicious. I've only had theirs and one I made once, so I can't say if it's the best or worst in the world. It was better than mine to be sure. The service when I have been is generally good. I would not recommend this place for groups because it's a pretty tight squeeze. I like all the "stuff" and decor, but it can feel claustrophobic at peak times. Ordered 2 guacamole appetizers with chips at 6pm to take to a dinner party. Was told the order would be ready in just a few minutes. We called at curbside, waited, waited, and waited. We finally got the order at 6:50, and of course we were 30 minutes late to our dinner. I love, love, love Chuy's food! My husband isn't a big fan of Mexican food, but he will eat at Chuy's. HOWEVER, we have walked out on two different occasions because of the outrageously LOUD music. I don't consider myself an "old fogie". I would like to be able to carry on a conversation with my husband without having to constantly ask him to repeat what he has said. We will go back, but we always consider if we are in the mood to tolerate the music. read more

My wife & I are traveling through - in the mood for mexican food and stopped - and glad we did. I ate simple - the combination taco and enchilada, while my wife had a chile relleno with the tortilla soup. Everything was delicious - even the salsa with the chips (my wife loves it)! The service was great - our waitress was very attentive and friendly without being pushy at all. One of my pet peeves is having to wait around a long time for the check after we're finished eating - not here - she brought it right when I wanted it. This place is usually our favorite when in Lubbock for business. Not sure what's happened since our last visit, but we left our table and told the manager we were not paying for the partial meal we got. We've never had to do this, but we were so frustrated with our server and the low food quality. We were seated and brought a partially filled basket of chips and water with no ice. We had to ask twice for ice and I had to get refills on chips from the bar as our server dissapeared. My husband and I ordered the same meal and only one was brought to the table. Guacamole was bland and tortilla soup was watered down. We waited over 20 mins for the other meal that never came, even while telling the manager our issue. What made it worse was our young female server was completely disinterested in whether or not our order made it out or not. The family at the table next to us was having problems as well and sent food back, so probably not uncommon at this location. We'll stay with our local Chuy's near our home. Never had any problems there and the food is amazing! read more

In Lubbock to move my daughter from college and ordered $114 worth of food. As a part of the order, we ordered extra salsa, an order of guacamole and an order of queso to be delivered to our hotel. They provided only a half bag of chips, despite ordering extra everything. They provided no silverware and no napkins. We called them once we discovered this and we explained the situation. The person that answered the phone said they would get a manager. We could hear their conversation in the background and basically they could have cared less. The manager would not get on the phone and instead put a server on the phone. We again explained the situation and the gentleman said they didn't provide silverware as a part of their order. We explained that we didn't care about the silverware as much as the fact that we ordered 3 different items that should have come with chips and only received a half bag. His response was, "what do you want me to do about it, I'm just a server". Luckily the hotel had plastic ware, but Chuy's basically told us they could care less about the situation. So yeah, very clear they don't give 2 cents about their customers. Will most definitely never give this company another dime of money. Very disappointed. read more

And the avocado salad added on just half size of the normal size i used to rder. What happen recently with the chef?
