Chuys has become my favorite Mexican food restaurant of all time. This is a surprise to me. I was leery of them at first, as they tend towards an artsy tex mex feel, which generally is a red flag for me that means: WHITE BOY FOOD. Therefore, my wife and I usually find hole in the wall Mexican restaurants that don't speak good English and we feel at home with the real deal. I guess I should mention we lived for 7 years near the Mexico border, so we've been exposed to some good basic simple real Mexican dishes. Chuys strength is evident in several ways: #1 - they make fresh homemade tortillas all day long. They are good, simply delicious! #2 - the sauces. Oh my word, this is the key that unlocked Chuys to me. Open the small flap on the right side of the menu. Look them all over. Then just tell the waiter that you want to try one of each. They will GLADLY bring you a free sampler of each sauce that you can then dip your chips and the fresh tortillas in to sample the flavors. My personal favorites are the Green Hatch Chili, it is spicy and the green hatch chili's come through strong. Very rich in flavor. My daughter loves the jalapeno ranch. Their creamy tomatillo is excellent. Actually, I like them all to be honest, and each one is very unique. I really recommend you get to know their sauces with every visit. It is important as you then get to choose which sauce goes on your enchilada or chili relleno. #3 - Their #4 platter is the bomb. One enchilada (cheese, beef, or bean) and one Chili Relleno with beef or cheese. They make the second best Chili Relleno I have ever had, and that is saying a lot. The winner is a restaurant in Midland with a very unusual but fine recipe. I usually get a cheese enchilada and cheese chili relleno. I shake up the sauces each time, trying out the con carne, or the "boom boom" sauce, or the hatch green chili, and so forth. #4 - Their flan. It doesn't matter if you like flan or not, get over yourself and order their flan. It is the richest best flan I have about ever had. You deserve it, just do it. #5 - Their Texas Martini is THE BOMB. For $9, you get a stiff large handmade margarita (not powder) in a large martini mixer. Then they serve a martini glass on the side, salted, with the requisite olive. The drink is strong enough and large enough to refill that martini glass over and over. One drink, shazaam! If it is a good night and I'm feeling adventurous, I will get a second one. Then my wife brings out the wheelchair to roll me to the car. Well, ok, a little hyperbole there, but you get the idea. You won't need but two drinks, I assure you. $18 and done! #6 - I always find the service to be friendly, happy, and helpful. The only time, perhaps once, that they weren't fully on top of their game, was when they were slammed with a long waiting line and things were hectic. I've been many times, and other than one exception, the service is always great. #7 - This place is clean. Every Chuy's I've been into is clean clean clean. #8 - They have THE BEST shirts for sale. One I had to have is a black shirt with nacho chips arranged in the shape of Darth Vader's helmet. Underneath it states: "I am nacho father!" I just find that too much fun. They just released a new one with a Mexican bandido drawing a pistol out for a fight. But his pistol is a star wars weapon. Underneath is states: "Juan Solo" Just makes me smile every time. the one thing I don't care for consistently is their standard fresh salsa they serve automatically with chips. It is just mostly unflavored tomatoes with a ton of fresh onion. Some people like that, but I find it needs less onion, some jalapenos, and a ton of cilantro. I strongly recommend you get your butt to Chuy's, sample every sauce they have including the "boom boom" sauce with your chips and fresh hot tortillas, and drink a Texas Martini. Finish it off with a sample of flan. Celebrate life people! read more

Service was HORRID!!! Our food took forever. Our server never came around, the place was dirty, I had to ask them to clean up our table/floor so we could eat comfortably. Food was adequate at best. I have been to multiple Chuy's in different cities. 7th Street location needs a HUGE coaching session on customer service. Customers keep business afloat. Excellent customer service keeps customers coming back. If employees do not understand the business equation then its best to look for a job without having to deal with people. Hostess and waitress were unwelcoming and I didn't appreciate the dirty faces. Be kind and courteous. Because you could be delighting someone' Hopefully, this improves over time. read more

Great, upbeat vibe. My husband love this place. He's a green chile fan and they had an entire menu cover devoted to green chile dishes. He ate every bite of his heavenly combo plate. I ordered the tacos al carbon (fajita beef) and I didn't think they were anything to write home about, but the meat was tender and flavorful, and the tortillas were fresh. I asked for extra tortillas on the side and they were warm and yummy. The kids enjoyed a variety of options. The enchilada on the kids menu was too spicy for my kiddo who likes spicy stuff. The chicken strips, usually frozen and awful at a Mexican restaurant, were delicious and fresh. The kids loved the free rainbow sherbet push-up pop at the end of their meal. Mom and dad loved the nostalgia of the treat; we hadn't seen push-up pops since we were kids. Chuys, you had them at free dessert. We topped our meal off with tres leches. Ah-maz-ing. Sweet, moist, and generously portioned. I was able to eat about 1/4 of the slab of cake. Hubby and kids all enjoyed some and there was still cake left. (I know, we left some cake behind, the inhumanity!!) Justin our server was friendly and his customer service was more than we expected. He did amazing and deserves recognition. I first heard about Chuy's in Austin, TX - but didn't have a chance to swing by and experience it first hand so I was really happy when I saw one was opening up in Fort Worth. Chuy's has great food and a great atmosphere. Make sure you order their Jalapeno-Ranch dip to go along with your complementary chips and salsa while you look over the menu. I understand not everything might be superb so make sure to communicate with your waiter/waitress if you're on the fence about ordering something. So far they've only steered me toward things that have been very tasty. I am also a huge fan of their Margaritas as they only make them with real lime juice. read more

The food isn't that great and wait is way too long. Our party of 11 was quoted 45 minutes and was told what we were going to sit, then they sat a party if 10 that came in 15 minutes after us at least 15 minutes before us. Greeting personnel was very frustrated and unapologetic, I'll take my family and our $200 somewhere else next time. Very poor experience overall. read more

9-1-2030 (Tuesday) @ 4:00 PM - The food was ok.... First and last time I go! Service was Arrived, received my drinks with chips and salsa right away. Chips were delicious! Ordered the house special, steak burrito. While waiting for my food I couldn't help but notice my waiter was playing "grab ass" with another waiter wearing a UFC mask on. As this was going on, I began to notice there were 9 waiters and waitress standing around talking, and to top it off Ive finished my beer, waiting for the waiter to come over. I then looked around and only counted 5 tables with people in them. Note, possibly more tables I couldn't see. Received my food, in a timely manner .... and it was ok. Was not impressed. Jalisco is much better, more meat with less filters. The name "Big as" doesn't stand next to the burrito they provide me, should be called "lil as". We almost ate here three times in one week.. I had to stop myself because my husband is so loving that he just likes to make me happy.. There's something about this Chuy's that feels so different than the one in Plano. The servers are so kind and take excellent care of you and work so hard. The prices are pretty amazing for what you get and once you figure out all the sauces it's actually fun to experiment with your order. Our server this time brought out the creamy jalapeño sauce with the salsa.. so yummy.. the boom boom sauce is basically intensely hot Queso.. this time I tried their enchiladas and chili relleno. So glad I stepped out of my comfort zone from the chuychanga. Amazingly light crunchy batter or the rellano and filling cheese and onion enchilada. I decided to go back and give Chuy's a chance again. I went and like before, the food id excellent. However, My total was $14.25. I gave the waitress a $20.00 bill. She only gave me $5.00 change back. I tired to track her down to ask her about the $0.85 cents she kept, but she went to the back so I left. I didn't tip either because she already elected to keep my $0.85 as a tip for herself. Im not sure why but with the poor serivce, wait time from servers, and check out time from servers, this particular restuarant can't keep good help. MAybe it's management's fault? This was our first Chuys experience and I must say I wasn't impressed.The waiter was nice however he brought out food and didn't bring us silverware until we requested them a couple of times. The food was ok but what bothered me the most was the annoying flies! There were ton of flies that made enjoying our good almost impossible! I asked the waiter why there were so many flies and his only response was he didn't know! I honestly will not be going back to Chuys anytime soon. Just wanted some to go food. Ordered our favorite appetizer sampler and took it home in good faith to enjoy some Chuy's on the couch. Turns out they have started a weight-loss program with half portions and nothing on their nachos except cheese. We even looked up their menu to make sure they hadn't changed the recipe. If we decide to return, we will definitely make sure to inspect our order prior to departure. Super disappointed. read more

I cam in for dinner with family about a week ago and Hugo took care of us (we've had him before, very nice guy and very attentive!) We came it a little later in the night and the kitchen was closing by the time our meal ended. We had placed a togo order with Hugo, but he seemed busy and the order wasn't placed in time, which we totally understood! But Hugo still went out of his way to talk to the kitchen and get our togo burrito started, that was really cool of him!! The kitchen manager Andy came out to talk to us and offered to take care of dessert for us, he was also very nice! We really appreciated them going out of their way. Chuy's is one of my all time favorites when it comes to Tex-Mex. Their margaritas are very good not watered down like most places. I like to get the chica chica boom boom, Elvis green chili fried chicken, chuychanga and let's not forget the tres leches cake for desert. The service here has always been great and let me tell you I go pretty often. Another great thing about Chuys are the prices, it's relatively cheap especially when you see the amount of food on your plate. At the Fort Worth location, the girls running the front tend to place male customers with female waitresses, and female customers with male waiters. I guess that's fine since they must think opposite genders tip the wait staff differently. It's kind of getting annoying though because we are a gay couple and when we come with other gay men we are always being stuck with waitresses. Be nice to have a cute waiter just once in a blue moon. Also, the waitresses seem to be fairly inexperienced. Often forgetting several things or making mistakes. I feel like everytime I am there we are the 'training customers' for the waitresses. Would be nice to have a waiter once in awhile just to see if they are as green as the girls. Food is good but the inexperienced waitresses are definately bringing my vote down from a 3 star review to a 2 star review. Time for us to try some place different. Pro's - As far as Mexican Food goes, it doesn't get much better than this in Fort Worth. Their food is overall amazing and it comes out faster than any other place I have ever been to. My Favorite Dishes: 1) Chuy's Special (Always amazing chicken enchiladas made with blue corn tortillas) 2) Fajitas (Their beef is pretty amazing) 3) Hatch Green Chili Chicken Enchiladas (Only available once a week but very very good and worth going in on whatever day (I think this location is Fridays) its on. Con's - I would give this place 5 stars only if they would get their parking situation fixed. I have personally never had to valet my car (which is offered for free) but the parking at this point is around the corner and behind an apartment complex. Not the best. If you want to work off the meal or just let things settle and go for a walk if you walk across the street there is a decent sized pond with 100 ducks in it all the time. Boring over-priced food. Tried chuys probably 10 times and each I wonder why I have returned again. I personally enjoy Taco Bell over chuys any day of the week.
