So happy when I found out Chuy's was coming to Ohio. Being from Texas there is no Mexican food that compares to my favorite Tex-Mex! I have been 3 times now and I live in Dayton. For those that reported the food was flavorless clearly ordered the wrong thing. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Enchiladas are awesome and full of flavor! The atmosphere is very great. Yes, if you are there on a weekend night when it's packed it is noisy but I've been there for lunch and it's pretty quiet. Staff has always been friendly, maybe that's because I'm friendly to them! It is different than anything in the area and worth the drive to get it. I would suggest that if you try it and feel it's just so-so you should go back and ask for suggestions on what to eat. Our trip to Chuy's was the result of my girlfriend and I not really knowing where we wanted to go for dinner on my birthday. We were just cruising around trying to figure it out and decided Chuy's would be the place to go. We were looking for something kid friendly since our three year old was with us as well. First, let me say that I have since read quite a few of the reviews for Chuy's and I have to say that I didn't see ANY of the bad stuff that people are talking about in their reviews. We got there between 7 and 7:30pm and got seated immediately. Our waiter was there immediately with the free chips which were warm, thin and crispy and the best I have ever had. We ordered our drinks, chocolate milk for our son and iced tea for both of us, and they came to the table pretty quickly. The iced tea was a little weak for my taste, but I have had much worse at other places. We perused the menu and I couldn't quite figure out whether I wanted the steak burrito of the Chuychanga. Our waiter (unfortunately I can't remember his name right now) came back in a reasonable amount of time and after my girlfriend ordered the Chuychanga for herself and the mini tacos for our son, I asked the waiter what he would suggest. He was very polite and knew the menu well so he scored some points with me. I finally settled on the Chuychanga as well. Our food arrived pretty quickly (I wasn't timing them but I know when fast becomes slow and long becomes too long) and it was good and hot when it got there. Everything was great. The refried beans were delicious and the 'changa was fantastic. The only real complaint from the whole experience is the volume level. The place is LOUD. I don't know whether it's a result of the tables being close together or what. It didn't seem like the piped in music was all that loud, so I don't know what the deal was. It wasn't unbearable, though. Just a little louder than we like it. The price seemed pretty reasonable to me as well. I've seen the reviews that say Chuy's is over priced, but the three of us ate and had our drinks for under 35 bucks. That's pretty doggone reasonable. Went to try Chuy's today. The atmosphere was great with lots of eclectic decorations. Chips never ran out and the salsa was delicious. Ask to try the jalapeño dip, it's free and tastes like a spiced ranch dip. Had it with chips and also put it on my fajita soft tacos. Lots of items on the menu left to try. We went to Chuy's in a Saturday afternoon around 11:30. No too many people waiting for tables yet we weren't greeted by a hostess and I had to approach them to be put on the waiting list. The hostesses at the hostess station were not well organized and you could tell they weren't too experienced. This was a bad first impression. Chips and salsa were good. Creamy jalapeño dip was fantastic. Our server told me that my dish wouldn't be as good ad my wife's but I couldn't verify if he was right or wrong cause the server at the next table dropped her food tray and the food and dish pieces flew all over us and our food. We ate at this restaurant a couple of years ago and it was good. Went there 4/13/2016 and the food was lousy. The waitress(I know I am old) was really on the ball. The best thing I can say about the food was the macho chips they serve are light and warm. We were a party of four and all agreed that there is no need to go back. Every good run comes to an end sometime, and so it is with Chuy's in Florence KY. When this place opened up, it couldn't miss; the food was premier, the staff friendly and attentive, managers would come around to your table to say hello and the prices were just right. It became a regular food stop for me and mine. Fast forward to 2014. Tonight marks the 2nd bad experience in a row, and by far, the worst of the two. Once we got to our table, I should have taken the hint when the server came up, behaving like a wolverine on methamphetamines. "Hey bro, how's it goin' bro, want some chips man? Hey want some chips man?" Completely unsettling. A few minutes later, chips arrive with what may have once been salsa, but looked now like a pool of dog vomit in a small puddle of water. The taste wasn't far off either. After he here took our drink order.....5 minutes.....10 minutes....15 minutes....20 minutes....all ticked by..no drinks, not a visit, not a word. In that time, I watched this guy bring the wrong food not once, but twice, to a young lady at an adjacent table who clearly spelled out that she wanted ONLY BEANS AND PICO on her entree. What was truly sad is that this server acted surprised on the 2nd occasion as well!! Another 2 servers, a guy in a baseball hat and a girl in a green shirt, were playing "tickle" games up in front of the bar, apparently oblivious to the fact that the entire restaurant could see them playing lovey-dovey up there; hmmm, guess that take precedence over helping a busy dining room! To top it off, our yet-to-be server disappeared into the kitchen for more than half of that time, only to emerge later with.....YOU GUESSED IT.....NOT our drinks, but a bottle of ketchup for another table----guess Chuy's isn't paying him enough to multi-task. At this point, when he disappeared again, I went up front to ask the kind young ladies if I could please be reseated in a section where the server didn't suck complete a--. Yes, that was exactly my quote. She asked where I was sitting and when I showed her, she immediately said that she would have a manager come right over. This was, mind you, the ONLY bright spot of the experience, and she handled it well. Time passes...... I turned to my spouse and said, "Time to stick a fork in this experience, let's go somewhere else." On my way out, the young lady at the front of house told me, "I've been trying to find a manager," but she couldn't find one. And that was the end for me. I could have overlooked the rest of this debacle, but that last statement....."I'm trying to find a manager" punctuated each and everything that went wrong there. While the front of the house is collapsing on itself, where is the voice of reason? Where is the one who is supposed to care for customer needs and escalations? Where is the person who is supposed to bring some order back to this chaos? All I know, not where he/she was supposed to be; in that warzone of a dining room doubling as the Touchy Feely club. To be sure, the food has been very good, if not always great, in the last several months; hence the 2nd star. But, if I can't get to stage 1 in the dining experience, Chuy's has nothing left to offer. Perhaps if their leadership team stops playing Punxsutawney Phil, and starts running the front-of-house like a respectable establishment, it may turn around. I was excited to try Chuys especially for their gluten free menu. Unfortunately they can't execute to it. The menu has 2 entrees which although limited seemed acceptable. The problem was 2 fold. It took at least 40 minutes for our food to arrive. Turns out they put the wrong sauce on the gluten free meal & had to remake it. When it finally arrived there was rice on the plate which was specifically called out as NOT being included in the gluten free options. When we pointed this out the waiter said he'd send the manager over. Manager never arrived.....at least the server removed the charge for food I couldn't eat. #lefthungry read more

I've been to this Chuy's on a few occasions, and each time it's been great. I pretty much always go during the 4-7PM weekday happy hour so I can get free queso off the nacho car (yes, the trunk of an actual car). Their queso is just OK to me, so it's not worth the price ordering it off the menu. Their salsa is fantastic though. It has a decent bit of heat to it, and tons of fresh lime. You must also order a side of the creamy jalapeno to dip chips in. It's like a ranch dressing with a little bit of jalapeno added, not too spicy at all. For entrees, I really like the fajitas and any of the combination platters that involves chili rellenos. This past visit, they were doing a special menu for their chili festival, and I tried their tacos el pastor. The menu said they were "mini tacos", but there was nothing mini about them. You get 4 of their freshly made soft taco sized flour tortillas with a marinated and roasted pork. Then they're topped with onions and cilantro. The pork was spicy and very flavorful, and since it came with chili rice and beans, it was more than enough food for two meals, all for $8.99. The service is good here, but can be a bit slow since they're busy almost all the time. Last visit, our server messed up my wife's order. He admitted that it was his mistake, apologized several times, and rushed her a new one that was perfect. We were very happy with his service. We'll both be back for sure! read more

I love this place! As far as chains go, this is probably my favorite. I am a huge fan of mexican and tex mex food, and they do it right. Service has been pleasant and quick and the decor is fun, definitely not what you would expect in Florence, KY! You can see them making tortillas fresh as you walk to your seat, always a good sign. I have had the chile rellenos, boom boom enchiladas and fajita chicken taco and all were delicious. There are two really fantastic things about this place, there is a nacho car in the bar area, yes a car hood filled with nachos and salsa available for self serve all the time. During happy hour the nacho car goes into overdrive and there is fresh queso available. So good. They also have the creamy jalepeno, a delicious combination of cream, ranch seasoning and jalepenos. It's not overly pricy but it is overly delicious and great to dip chips in or pour over anything on your plate. The best part is that it's free! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu and would be doing yourself a disservice by not going here if you are a fan of tex-mex. The fresh tortillas, salsas and sauces really set this place apart. Also, if you bring a framed photo of your dog to the bar they will give you a free appetizer, awesome! read more

The food was delicious (including the free chips and salsa) and the outdoor patio was a nice place to have dinner. After much thought I decide to try Chuy's in Florence. Bare in mind I lived in south Texas for 16 years...On arrival I walked into the bar and found a seat that didn't have crumbs on the bar in front of it. No bartender was immediately available. After a short wait she arrived and took my drink order, I ordered a frozen margarita with salt which she made quickly and it was as expected, tasty. She than asked if I would be ordering food to which I said yes. After handing me the menu she disappeared. Eventually she showed back up and asked if I wanted chips and salsa? duh yes it IS a Tex-Mex restaurant. She brought the chips with 2 types of salsa...the regular tomato type and a creamy jalapeno type which was muy bueno!! Anyway I ordered the beef fajitas. They came out in the requisite time sizzling as expected. Garnishments were in huge portions. The meat was no seasoned very well. Don't get me wrong, they weren't bad just not much flavor as were the onions & peppers. I guess I was just expecting too much this far north. I'll stick with the local fare form now on. read more

I rarely write a bad review, less than a handful in my lifetime. I travel every week for business, so dining out is not a novelty for me. I sat at the more than half empty (not busy) bar, and waited at least ten minutes for one of three employees that were checking their cell phones and gossiping. One finally came over, no proper welcome or greeting, no smile, just a rude "What do you want to drink?" I ordered a drink, and afterwards she threw a menu on the bar, after another long delay she asked, again rudely; "What do you want to eat?" I really thought about walking out at this point, and should have, but I didn't. Utensils and napkins were also thrown on the bar. The food, came out, it was subpar, no one came by again for a very long time, until another asked "Are you having dessert?" Which I replied no, thank you, just water (I was never served water) and the check. While I waited, a couple walked in and sat at the bar near where I was. They were also completely ignored, and eventually another employee came over and treated them rudely. They did what I should have done, they got up and walked out. After they left the bartender had the nerve to act surprised, laughed, and shrugged her shoulders. It is very clear no one at this establishment has ever had any formal training in hospitality, but even without formal training, they all must have had a similar terrible upbringing, because they all lack respect, decency and common manners. I tended bar for many years, I am a very generous tipper. I could not bring myself to leave a tip for this terrible experience. I will NEVER visit this establishment again. read more

Love the salsa, Guac and they have the best tortilla soup I have ever had the pleasure of eating. It is fresh with avocado, big chunks of chicken and a bit of cilantro all thrown into the best broth! Highly recommend and I would drive to Florence as the customer service was top notch and beats out the kenwood location. Hands down. read more

Ok. I like it. I have visited twice and find the food good, the price good, and the atmosphere good. Both visits included some version of an ameri-mex burrito that hit the spot when you crave such fare. We dare not go near the restaurant during happy hour (although they provide a complimentary chip/dips set up furring happ hour) or prime time on the weekends as service can be more hit and miss during those times.
