I expected a deep fried burrito however, this was a fried tortilla filled with Chicken, cheese, cilantro and chilies which came with rice and refried beans. Triple-check any to-go orders you make. I've had to take things back 4 of the last 4 orders I've made because they always forget things. From the queso in the Elvis Combo to the "complementary" creamy jalapeño dip and salsa, you have to be hypervigilant or they'll "forget" your sauces and sides. 2 damn extra dollars for a spoonful of queso in the Flautas and they *still* try to sneak by without including it. They are eager to please and always go above and beyond and exceed expectations. First off - Chuy's is the only place I know of that makes a killer Hatch Chili Chicken Enchilada. Sometimes I deconstruct the enchiladas to see what's on the inside and I'm never disappointed. It's always filled with thick pieces of quality shredded chicken and in good portions. And I can't get enough of that Hatch Chili Enchilada Sauce - I always ask for extra, and thanks to Katie and Cornelius, I always get it that way. Their execution is consistent and flawless. Who will not like anything fried. They also gave us their house tortilla chips which was pretty good like Pappasitos with salsa and asked if we wanted jalapeno ranch dip, that dip was the best ever! I come to this location at least once a week. It's a long standing go to place among our group of friends for dinner. I also work and live near here so I come here even more so for those reasons. I love the Wednesday special, Hatch Green Chili Chicken Enchilada. It's so good, but sometimes it's very spicy, it's a risk you have to be willing to take. I love chips and queso so it's hard for me to come here and not get that though. The chips are the good thin and warm kind. Some times you will get a cold batch but I just tell the server for another. They are also known for their creamy jalapeno dip as well. I'm not particularly a fan of the salsa though, it's very chunky, not my thing. If it's not Wednesday, then I get the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. They have a great Happy Hour, that I'm sure most people take advantage of, they have a chip bar out of the trunk of a car. It's pretty awesome, I rarely go to Happy Hour here though. There is indoor and outdoor seating, they typically try to cater to the weather for the outdoor seating, so it's not so terrible during the summer. It does get crowded during lunch and a lot at dinner as well. There can be a bit of a wait. The parking lot is semi annoying as well. I find that all Chuy's have terrible parking lots here in Austin, the spots are super narrow for Texas sized trucks or regular size cars. This location has terrible parking and going north on Lamar can be a nightmare when exiting said parking lot. But that's really the only negative. The food is good - like most other locations. This location doesn't usually screw up my special order Chuychanga like the Duval location does. The patio is right next to Lamar, but they've done a great job disguising that. The best thing about this location is the Happy Hour. Weekdays from 4-7pm there are drink specials & free queso, chips & ground beef if you're a carnivore. The other locations have this also, but the bar here doesn't seem to get as crowded as some of the other locations where you're lucky to find a seat. I usually visit Chuy's off times as I hate to wait a long time. So being prime dinner time on a Saturday, I was expecting a wait. Not only was there no wait but actually only seven or eight tables occupied. In my opinion it's the current limited menu. I understand when restaurants reopened limited menus were needed to judge how customers would return. However Chuy's menu is still the same as when they reopened. Looks like they would be reintroducing items by now. It is so limited it gives you no reason to want return and I won't be until they bring back the regular menu. And if they are waiting on business to pick up so they can, they need to expand the menu to draw back regulars, instead of the limited one.
