Make sure to ask for it with your chips. My husband and I shared Elvis memorial combo. Let me tell you, it was about $11 and it fed both of us. I think there are like 3 enchiladas, a taco, rice and beans, and some other portion with this meal. We tend to over order and Mexican places, but between the chips and this dish, we were satisfied. We had some friend that had never tried sopapillas. Which should be against the law. Am I right? (I am right). Well, they were good, but not the best I have ever had. But my friends like this dessert because it wasn't too sweet. If you don't have a huge sweet tooth, but enjoy a little simple pastry something something, this is for you. Really hard to go wrong with Chuy's. Basically everything is good. Service is usually excellent. Good drinks, great food. TIP for spicy folk: Boom-Boom enchiladas, but ask for a side of Hatch sauce and just dump it on the enchiladas. Perfect blend of savory and spice. I've been eating at Chuy's since I arrived in Austin, way back in '94! In fact, I eat at Chuy's at least once per week with this location best location in my opinion. Not sure if it's the staff or the consistency of the food, but the noise level makes it just right to enjoy a dinner out with a friend or a group. No shouting needed compared to other locations. I'm a big fan of their Carne Gusada burrito that I always top with queso. This is a special menu item that only appears on Sundays for other locations, but this one has it everyday, kuddos to that alone! Like this place for what it is. A popular tex mex place. I think the service was really good, and the food was good. But as with many popular places it wasn't great. I think if they had a little more time and a few less people to serve at once it'd have been better. The servers seemed frazzled which I understand, but it made me feel like I couldn't take my time and enjoy my food and some good conversation. I have heard that their happy hour is great so I'll have to check that out though. Also if you bring a framed photo of your dog or baby you get a free appetizer and they'll hang it up by the front entrance! EDIT- I have returned twice and my faith has been restored. We had an AWESOME server named John, great guy. We wrote a positive comment card and let his manager know he was awesome and about a week later received a hand written thank you card from him. I absolutely love this place. The chips, salsa, and Jalapeno Ranch sauce that come complimentary are amazing. The chips are warm, super thin and crispy. The salsa is the perfect amount of heat. The Jalapeno Ranch is literally a sauce dreams are made of. It's so creamy and the freshness of the jalapeno and cilantro make this impossible to stop eating. Like, I had to stop myself from just pouring it in my mouth. I ordered the green chile enchiladas and they were absolutely delicious. The green chile sauce was creamy and decadent, creating a perfect compliment to the chicken underneath. The meat was cooked perfectly and the mushrooms added a nice earthiness to the dish. The refried bean were good (tip: add the jalapeno ranch sauce on these and your life will be made), and the green chile rice was well done. The service here is also very impressive. Our waiter, who kind of looked like Sid from Toy Story was very friendly, and always made sure we had the chips and dip we needed. The food was also delivered in a very timely manner. Lastly, the decor of this place is so fun. Its very eclectic and fun, without being too gaudy. Also, the tee-shirts they have for sale are super puny and clever. Went to Chuys last night. The service from the get go sucked. The waiter Had mentioned he had been there all day(no excuse). We had to keep calling Him over for things we needed,rather than him coming to check on us. I order One chicken deluxe enchilada(which are so good) 15 minutes go(or longer) and I call the waiter over and ask him about it. He finally goes to check and when he comes out with my enchilada is CHEESE only. There is more to this horrible service, but LONG story short. The manager Zeke comes to our table grabs a chair and sits, he goes on to ask us about problems we were having. Zeke went above and beyond to make this visit right. HAPPY HOUR REVIEW: I met two of my girlfriends here to have some margaritas and toast the fact that I put my notice in at work! We grabbed a table and ordered a queso and grabbed some of the ground beef off of the bar to add into it. Of course we also got some creamy jalapeno dip. I ordered a frozen orange margarita and it was boozey, delicious and just what I needed. The service at this location is the best! Our server refilled our chips quickly, engaged in conversation, made us laugh and was patient while we enjoyed cocktails and our queso for a while before ordering. When we did order he brought it out quickly, was quick with boxes and cashing us out even though he was super busy. The queso, creamy jalapeno, chips and margaritas were all good per usual at any of the locations. It also doesn't hurt to have a happy hour special on margaritas!! What really stood out to me at this location was my shrimp tacos were even more delicious than usual. It seemed like the seasoning on them was better and it never hurts to add the avocado to them. Complimentary Tornow ills chips were served hot and with a tomato base salsa as well as a jalapeño ranch dip... yummy. Guacamole was freshly made and delicious. Not something that happens at every Tex-Mex restaurant. Don't expect Traditional Mexican or you'll be disappointed, If Traditional Mexican, Interior style food is what you need then go to Fonda San Migel on Hancock drive. Seating was quick at 5:30PM. New to Austin from San Diego, Chuy's was recommended by co-workers and it did not disappoint. It was busy, but no wait. Atmosphere was inviting, fun and relaxing. Once our server, Stephanie, found out it was our first time she brought out a sample of each of the sauces to try with the complementary chips and pico. She also brought out the creamy jalapeno sauce (name escapes me now) and let us know it's always complementary, but you have to ask. It was really good. The food was also really good, the portions huge... had to take a round two home. Stephanie was awesome, making sure we had everything we needed, dropping off refills without even asking, brought to go packaging without even asking. Unfortunately, I can't remember as it was nearly 2 months ago now, but I can tell you that is hit the spot. At first I was worried b/c this place was a chain. But overall my experience here was very good. Our waiter was very nice and southern. He made sure we were okay and didn't need anything. The salsa or well pico de gallo was fresh and had a kick which made it addicting. For appetizer we got the queso dip which was really good. I had gotten a margherita which was okay but I am picky about my drinks. As for my entree I got the chicken boom boom which was really good. She glanced over the orders, told me it wasn't ready @2:15pm, and let me know i could wait in my car at the to go spots, I said okay, I just need to add on guacamole. She said okay, went to the back, came back and told me it wasn't on my order, i said no, I need to add it on, she goes back to the back and magically comes out with my order and starts ringing it up. I check to make sure everything is inside as she glares at me and told her the guacamole was half full. She pulls the receipt from the register and leaves and comes back with another half full 8 oz container. Mind you an 8 oz container is 7.41, my $56 dollar order went to $74 she charged me full price for 2 containers half full. I love Chuy's food-when it's hot. And I've always had good experiences dining at various locations. But the curbside pickup at this location needs work. This is the third time we've ordered curbside here and had issues. Usually it's just that the food is not out at the assigned pickup time - not a huge deal. But today I placed and order for 11:45. I was a couple minutes early so I sent the text as instructed in my email receipt and on the sign in the to go parking space. 17 minutes, two more texts, and two unanswered calls to the restaurant later, I went inside. There were seven or eight people in the restaurant looking for their curbside orders. The hostess was polite and apologized and said that sometimes the texts don't go through. If that's the case, please fix or change your system and don't instruct people to text the restaurant in emails and on all your to go parking signs. Excellent food and even better customer service. My coworkers and I went here for lunch today (Cinco de Mayo). We were seated promptly and orders taken in the normal amount of time. After about 15 minutes of waiting we asked our waitress, Abriana, if our food was going to arrive soon. She very politely informed us that the to-go orders were through the roof and the kitchen staff was backed up. They had to stop seating people when tables were open just to catch up. That was all that was said between us and Abriana. 5 minutes later a lady, I am assuming was a manger, again politely explained the situation and then told us our lunch today would be taken care of! This is what you call excellent customer service. I would like to say a big thank you to Abriana and the manager who today showed a perfect example of what good customer service is like.
