Haven't been too in a minute since the other one shut down. Ample seating and the food was just like how we remembered it. Not too noisy in there and the food out came relatively quickly. Have been coming to Chris and Pitts since I was a child. Glad this one in Downey is still open. Ordered the beef rib and chicken lunch with beans and side salad. Love the beef ribs. Usually get them well done with sauce on the side. And the salad with their French dressing is my favorite. If you never have been here give them a try. I've been going to Chris & Pitt's since the late 60's!!! I usually went to the Anaheim or Bellflower locations because they were closer to where I lived at the time. I haven't been in the area since early 90's. I drove an hour and a half to come here today. Everything was as I remember from my childhood. I ordered the prime rib, was cooked as ordered and delicious! I had a side salad with blue cheese and tasted as good as ever. I ordered the onion rings instead of the sides because I wanted to know if they were as good as the old, they were!! Still had the same old school bbq rustic ambiance. The staff was fast and friendly. Thank you for the memorable experience. The only thing was they were out of ice cream so I couldn't order the chocolate shake. I was happy to know that because they still scoop real ice cream not some mix of chemicals from a carton. That will bring me back again soon with the old metal blender cup I presume. read more

My husband and I were visiting the Downey area and wanted barbecue. We had been to Chris & Pitt's once before and decided to try it again. It does not disappoint! There are so many choices on the menu, but the good old fashioned bbq plates with their own sauce is some of the best bbq around! The prices are incredibly reasonable too. Been going to Chris & Pitts since the Bethlehem Steel Company was in operation. First at the South Gate location, then the Pico Rivera location. Now here. Thankfully the recipe has not changed. I come here for the spare ribs. They smell so good and taste so good. My only issue is that the meat under the top layer of bbq is super dry and hard. I ask for extra bbq sauce to moisten the meat to make it easier to chew. Other than that, I really love the taste. read more

Chris & Pitts has always been a staple with great food and great prices. I have been eating at the Whittier location for years but now I go to the Downey location to get that good bbq taste. Service is always good can't complain everything always arrives on time and they are always ready if you need a refill. A good family calm sit down restaurant which there isn't many around like that anymore. read more

Onion rings are fresh and hot - the only thing I will ask next time is for the onion rings to be fried a little longer. Rice, Chicken and barley soup was flavorful. We enjoyed a lot the bbq ribs and chicken with the extra bbq sauce. Service: our waiter was polite and helpful however when we left Jose (I am almost certain that was his name) took over and he is awesome. We definitely going back soon. read more

This place has been one of my favorites for many years. I was disappointed in the food quality and prices for the food at that. My go to has always been the baby back ribs. They were dry and a bit rough. The baked potato was real small. The bread was a bit rubbery and seemed old. The service was good which is for the 3 stars. I took my child here after not going for about 20 years as this was a place i frequented with my parents. The inky thing that was ok was the French fries my child ordered. Never again.
