    Wonton Noodle Soup
    Jessica D.

Staff is always friendly, I always get a craving from my childhood telling me to get the Wonton Soup, Shumai, and Halo Halo! So good!

Halo Halo was one of the best. They were not stingy on the ube ice cream, or the jelly . Everything was the right proportions! We are going back here if we want halo halo!!

After that horrible experience at another spot in this plaza, I decided to get me some Thai tea from here while my friend got herself a taho. The server was welcoming. The place had a some tables. My drink was refreshing. Could do without the tapioca, but I still liked my drink. My friend loves herself some taho and was happy with every sip and scoop.

Got the halo halo from here (to go) and hit the spot! So delicious with ube ice cream though I wasn't crazy about the pearls in it. Still was a great dessert option I was craving.

We came here for the steamed bun...the receipt said it's the asada siopao. their banners outside peeked hubby's attention. We just got 1 to taste b/c we were at Jollibee :) and the size was pretty good. It came with a packet of sauce, not sure what the name was but it was like a thick smokey hoisan or soy sauce. The meat was pretty good and flavorful. They told them as singles of a pack of 6.

Combo entree with salt and pepper pork

Not the best, not the worst. Price point is good but the food quality is just okay. I got the combo silog (breakfast) with tocino and longanisa. The longanisa was a no for me. Not juicy, not sweet, and it just tasted like kielbasa to me. The tocino was pretty good though, fatty enough and fairly tender, with a good sweetness. It comes with some garlic rice, which was pretty good, and a hella overcooked egg -_- They offered some vinegar on the side, which paired well with the tocino. For about $11, this wasn't the worst breakfast but I'd just stick with tocino next time. My BD got the combo plate with salt and pepper pork, and the default fried chicken it comes with. You can opt for mild or spicy so that's cool, and they have several entree to pair with (sweet and sour pork, popcorn chicken, broccoli beef, etc). This comes with a scoop of pancit and steamed rice and 1 little sesame ball. The S&P pork was just too battered for me, and the fried chicken was a bit over fried as well. The chicken thigh was juicy with super crunchy skin, went great with the vinegar dip, but the drumstick was hella dry. Add on a soda for about 50 cents. We got a side order of popcorn chicken and my daughter loved it. TBH we would come back, just for that. They do have a spicy option so I'd like to try it but I didn't love that this comes with zero dipping sauces.. some sweet chili sauce would be nice. This is a no frills spot to grab some food. Portions are good, and it's affordable. Slight wait, but nothing crazy, so you can get your day going within a reasonable amount of time. This is right across from Jollibee inside the Seafood City.

Pancit Canton Small Platter (serves 3-4)
    Kev H.

We decided to try their Bundle Feast 3 due to their 2024 Labor Day promotion/deal ($5 off). The feast comes with 24 pieces of Siomai and 1 Small Pancit Canton Platter. This is advertised to serves 4-6 people, and I would have to say that estimate is pretty accurate. The Siomai was tasty but more on a smaller side, and it had a prominent white-pepper flavor which I really liked. The pancit reminded me of Indonesian-style fried noodles even down to the toppings - cabbage, eggs, and sliced fishballs. It was tasty but I wasn't sure of I liked it just because it was a similar taste to what I grew up with in Indonesia. But I would say the noodles were a tad overcooked and thus were a bit too soft for my preference. Staff were super nice and friendly when I picked up my order at the store. And ordering online through their app was pretty painless.

Choking Restaurant offers great value breakfast meals! The food is tasty, portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable. A nice spot to start your morning with a satisfying meal.

We've been here several times because food is good and for the price is even better,we love the siopao and beef wonton, the soup is generous and is consistent in taste whenever we come and buy it.Service is fast and ambiance is good, they have their own clean restroom.

The service is not friendly. They also refuse to fix their bathrooms so you have to jump through hoops to find the bathroom somewhere in the grocery. The workers are stingy on the napkins, sauce, and utensils. It's the summer but they also don't have ice. and to add on top, the young cashier is constantly scratching her scalp in front of the customer. It was disgusting.

Everything we ordered came out fresh and well-prepared, and you can really tell there's care put into the food. If you're a fan of the type of food you get at 88 Bao Bao, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try. In my opinion, it's a step above, with a much wider variety of dishes and plenty of choices beyond the usual favorites. Their beef rolls are especially worth ordering, they're much more substantial, packed with flavor, and very satisfying. Another thing that really stood out to me is the space. The restaurant is relatively clean, open, and spacious, which makes the overall experience much more comfortable than some of the smaller, crowded spots in the area. If you're ever near 99 Ranch in Concord, put this place on your list. Great food, generous portions, good service, and a comfortable atmosphere make it well worth checking out. I'll definitely be back to try more of their dishes!

It's one of those places that can be easy to overlook, especially with the shopping plaza across the street drawing more foot traffic, but I think it deserves a little more attention. The location probably doesn't do it any favors when it comes to people casually walking by and deciding to grab a bite. If it were right in the plaza across the street, I could see more people stumbling upon it. As it is, you might have to make a point of stopping here instead of just following the crowds. If you're nearby and trying to figure out where to satisfy a noodle or dumpling craving, keep this place in mind! A solid local option and worth a stop, even if its location makes it a little less noticeable than the neighboring spots.

The creaminess from the runny egg really enhances the flavors of the beef. The pear was refreshing and added a hint of freshness Seafood pancake (5/5): This was also one of the best I've ever had. There was plenty of seafood and the outter batter was crunchy. Cold noodle (5/5): Was very refreshing on a hot day, but the mustard was very spicy. Zhangliang Malatang offers a soupy experience, where you get the options to build your own soup. The soups themselves are already flavored and made, but what you do get to edit is what actually goes in it. It's a decently sized place, while lots of small tables could certainly be pieced together if need be for larger tables over at the booth side of the restaurant. It's basically all self-service here, from what you want in your meal, to the condiments (which there are plenty) that may go with it. They do offer things other than just soup based cooking style, as they have a stir fried chow mein of sort too if you decide to go that route, though do beware that apparently they only have the one sauce for that cooking style, and it's pretty spicy, so if you go that route just know that there will be no flexibility for that at all flavor wise. How about the ingredients here? I've been to other similar places like this before, for example, Tang Bar, which also does this pick your own ingredients thing and they soup it or stir fry it for you. I'd say between the two though, the quality of ingredients at Zhangliang is probably a bit better than those other places, though selection options are about the same, but Zhangliang still have a few options that I usually don't see at the other spots. I also feel the ingredients here just feel fresher overall, albeit still frozen for some, but even then fresher. Again, you can make your own base here, so you don't have to get the noodles if you don't want to because it will just come as a soup regardless. If you just want soup and not noodle soup, that's fine. Though, a bit of warning, everything is counted by weight (minus the soup), so just don't get too happy putting stuff in because it all looks so good because speaking from personal experience, it will go over your expected cost very quickly depending on what you got. Watch out for that noodles weight! Service here is usually pretty good. Even though it's self service mostly, you still have to go up to the front to pay, and then let them know what flavor of soup base or cooking style you want. Never had an issue, they were willing to answer questions and such. The condiments bar while you are waiting for the arrival of your food to get prepared and finished is usually where you should go. I generally just pack up on the garlic for the most part because there can never be too much garlic in your soup. That's right, I said never! Just kidding. But the point is that there's plenty of condiments and you can get as much as you like. I also personally like to make a sesame peanut sauce since all the ingredients are there for me to do so for when I pull food out of my soup I can also dip them into that sauce, similar to what you do at hotpots. Once you get your food, you will be able to test out the ingredients first hand since they're not ready to be eaten. I feel almost everything I get each time I go in, I've been happy with them being in my soup, so no complaints there as it's always been tasty. Final verdict, Zhangliang Malatang is a great place to go to if you're in a soupy mood. The Malatang part is also for those who are spicy adventurous and interested in making their tongue feel the burn. I've had the spicy stuff here before and it is indeed very spicy, but I would not recommend for most if you can't handle it. Noodles are always great, but they are deceptive because that's usually where much of the food weight will be coming from in your bowl if you go too heavy. Ingredients over noodles for the best bang for buck. I would recommend this spot for those who are in the mood for hotpot, but don't want that tenuous and slower hotpot experience.
