I ordered an SDL French exterior door with two sidelights for nearly $8,000 (installation was an…read moreadditional $2,500). Matt, the salesperson, was great throughout the sales process. Unfortunately, everything went downhill after the installation began. The door arrived with a broken pane, gouges, peeling primer, and large globs of adhesive in all four corners of each of the 35 divided-light panes, which would make painting the door extremely difficult. The installation itself was equally disappointing. Throughout the day, I raised concerns about a number of issues, including a bouncy threshold (part of it appeared to be plastic), poorly finished interior trim, damage to my cedar porch floor, a crookedly installed handset, and exterior trim that was uneven in width despite originally being a consistent 4 inches. The installer placed a 6'9" 5x1 cedar trim piece on top of the side trim without securing it, and it fell from a height directly on my head, leaving me with pain, dizziness, and a large bump for 2 weeks. By 6:00 p.m., I asked the installer to stop. The exterior trim was still unfinished, there were gaps of at least 1/4 inch in the interior trim, the door sweep was loose, and blown-in insulation was falling from the gap in top trim, and a large piece of plaster came off from trying to place the door in place. The interior trim had been attached to my lath-and-plaster walls with what appeared to be brad nails, which did not seem adequate to securely hold the trim. I could easily move the trim after it was installed. The next day, Rob, the installation manager, came to inspect the work and took photos. I explained everything in this review above to him. That was two weeks ago. Since then, I have been unable to get any meaningful update despite multiple attempts to contact the company. I emailed and texted the owner without a response, emailed the operations address, and still couldn't get either a response or Rob's direct contact information. I was also told I would receive a call today, but no one reached out. At this point, I'm still waiting to hear what the plan is to correct these issues. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. For a project of this cost, I expected much better workmanship, communication, and follow-through. UPDATE 7/14/2026: I finally received an email from "Operations" requesting my availability for an onsite inspection of the door with the local vendor. Unfortunately, I am still unable to communicate directly with Rob, the operations manager, or the owner of the company. Instead, all communication continues to go through the administrative staff. Initially, the emails were signed with the administrator's name, but they are now simply signed "Operations." I also received emails on a Sunday evening outside of normal business hours. Rather than communicating with me directly, management continues to rely on administrative staff as the intermediary. I find this frustrating because it makes resolving the issue more difficult and leaves me without direct communication from the people responsible for handling my concerns. At this point, I remain disappointed with how this situation has been handled. I hope the onsite inspection finally leads to a resolution.

It feels like they replaced the glass with whatever they had on hand. Before they installed it, my husband tried to stop by the shop to look at the repair but it wasn't open. I didn't even realize the glass didn't match the original until after install. We spend over $3200 for them to replace the glass with whatever they had and not the glass that matched the original.

Thru all aspects of the job Mark took care of everything, and left us with gorgeous new skylights. Very professional and timely. Then years later, AFTER the "parts and labor" warranty had run out, the skylights started leaking again! Oh no! All that for nothing, right? Nope, one call to SS and Mark said "I'll take care of it!", he came over that very saturday(!) and got up on the roof and fixed it! He even said that if he didn't feel it was a perfect fix that he'd come out again with full scaffolding and re-set all the windows to make sure of no leaks! Initially, we weren't sure if we wanted to replace panes of glass or entire windows. During Petr's walk through, he explained which windows would work to have individual panes replaced versus which were not salvageable. He also carefully explained how installation would work given newer windows aren't as deep so spacers would be inserted to make up the difference. His quote then showed the cost of replacing individual panes where possible versus the entire window so we could run the numbers and decide. I appreciated this transparency, he could have just told me I needed to replace entire windows and made more on the job. I was also told that there would be no follow up after the quote unless I had questions or wanted to proceed. I appreciated that it wasn't going to be some sort of hard sell as so many companies tend to do. We opted to replace all our windows and made a visit to their showroom to pick styles. Installation took 4 days and the crew arrived when promised every day and worked with care and attention including being careful with and kind to our small dog running around. Given the pandemic, they always wore their masks. At the end of the project they cleaned up completely after themselves. The crew lead noticed the retractable screen on our sliding door wasn't retracting smoothly so he said Milgard would be contacted to get customer service/repair/replacement started. Milgard called within 3 days. Everyone I came in contact with at Window Fellas is clearly passionate, knowledgeable, and meticulous. As a result we're very pleased with the entire process and final product. If only other home improvement projects went this well! Some reviewers have complained about a lack of response when trying to get a quote. I actually had originally contacted Window Fellas a couple of years ago and was told to submit a request via their website. I never heard back and didn't do anything further until I contacted them this go around. While I know it's frustrating to not get a response, it's worth following up! Once the connection is made, you will have their full attention, care, and expertise. I am sure they regret any missed contacts, but I have seen first hand that they are committed to providing the best service and product. You won't regret it.
