They I installed a sliding Milgard patio door with internal blinds. They even opened a warranty claim when a rock broke the glass while mowing the lawn. We worked with Sound View to install a new Thermatru front door and Milgard Ultra French doors. Dan was great, helped us understand some of the *many* options in this space, and worked with us to dial-in the right products to meet our needs. The doors were delivered and installed two-weeks ahead of schedule - rare in these COVID times, and we're delighted with the products and service. Sound View's install craftsmen led by Patrick was absolutely on point, kept the worksite clean and tidy, cleaning up as they worked. We'd anticipated some challenges in opening up the 1980's house - Patrick kept us informed of decision points and options as they worked through the install. It was super-smooth - they were in and out in just two days - simply awesome. Their service, professionalism, fit and finish more than met and exceeded our expectations. We replaced 5 original, single pane windows in our 100 year old home with vinyl. Sounds View was responsible professional, cost effective, and thorough. It took a long time to receive parts but that's the new normal in our COVID world! The installation was particularly great-- Marcus and Randall did a great job. Marcus in particular was a very professional and thorough project manager, documenting everything and setting expectations. Thanks to Marcus, we identified a balancer that was likely broken during shipping, and its replacement is already on the way. I am confident that my final appt to replace this broken balancer and install the screens (backordered, thanks COVID) will go smoothly. I will use them again in the future and will request Marcus and Randall as my installers! read more

I hope there is a 0 star option. During our remodel process, we talked to many salesperson over the last few months, but we just had the worst experience with this store. The salesperson we talked to is really impatient and non-professional. We are not native speaker, the sales person says EVERY SINGLE WORD SLOWLY with bad attitude. Especially when the explanation is needed, he shows impatience and hold arms crossed. I hope his intention is not racist but it really make us feel uncomfortable. He keeps saying the customer SHOULD know exactly what they want before going to their store. But as a sales, your job is to help customer figure out what they want to and offer good customer experience. If customer already knew what they want, they can just order online. We've been to many windows/doors/building product stores, none of them has such requirement. So please keep in mind, make sure you know what product you want exactly before walk in to it, otherwise you will get EDUCATED. read more

BUYER BEWARE Ordered a set of replacement windows for an entire house, for which I submitted a call-out of all sizes in writing. They typed it up in there system then had me review & sign off on the order, on which I didn't catch THEIR size mistake on two of the windows until they got delivered. They acknowledged their input mistake, but since I signed off on it were only willing to give me about $50 off the $800 window re-order. So they made an additional hefty profit off of their own ineptitude & lack of professionalism, and I paid a steep price for not doing what was their job. Gotta wonder if it was intentional. read more

I just got off the phone with a product specialist who yelled at me and was quite rude instead of either offering to help me with my order or kindly letting me know that Sound View wasn't interested in my project. I get that people have bad days, but nobody likes being treated rudely or exiting a call on the receiving end of somebody else's bad day. read more

Not sure where to get windows in this City anymore. We had two casement windows replaced late last year by Sound View and already the locks have broken. When they did the installation, the framing around the windows came out a bit uneven. Sure I have a mild perfectionist streak, but it's just obvious to anyone who would look closely, including someone who might be buying if we sell. Fast forward to now, we just put in a double hung window. It has quite a few quirks to get the top half of the window down. The installer, who was dead tired gave me a 2 min tutorial and was quickly out of here. The paperwork he left had no visual directions. Now it's stuck, and we can't close the window at all. Sure there's likely some user error involved. But it's a WINDOW. It should not be this complicated. On the phone, they're always checking to see if everything is under warranty. "You all didn't teach us effectively how to use the window!" THAT should be under warranty... The white paint on the window itself has in two days already become dinged. What a waste of $$. read more

I've tried to get a quote for a skylight 3 times... When you call on the phone they say, "Please email us the exact dimensions, and we'll get back to you with an estimate." No follow ups, no emails. I've called them to follow up. And what do they say, "OK, we'll email you an estimate!" They must be SO BUSY that they can't get back to customers that want to give them business. read more

He was clearly knowledgeable about my older wood windows and very honest that did not need to be replaced. He offered me some guidance on how to maintain them and even was able to provide some contact information for other that could help with the work. Sound View was the second most affordable quote. We chose them over the cheapest company because of the quality install method they use. Jeff was incredibly helpful and honest. Couldn't be more pleased with this company. Jeff came to our house and did initial measurements for two windows and a new sliding door. He worked up an estimate, which we agreed to. Our house is mid-century brick and there was nothing easy or straightforward about the project. Even the two windows that looked identical were different sizes. My wife and I were concerned about our brick exterior and any damage that might be done to it. Soundview came and removed our old windows and installed the new ones. It was not easy, but the end result was perfect. Same is true for the slider, which replaced a swinging door and sidelight. The project was complicated by a number of factors, but the installers worked through all of them, communicating with us along the way. In the end, the projects are both perfect in every way and were completed on budget. The folks at Soundview were friendly and personable. Their communication from the first day until weeks after the project was completed was above par. I highly recommend this company. read more

I worked with Sound View Window & Door in 2017 with a complex order - I had a window that needed replacing (seals had failed) and a large floor-to-ceiling mirror that was broken by a contractor working in my house. They measured and replaced both *and* handled billing my contractor for the broken mirror separately from my own billing. The workmanship was excellent and communication / scheduling was top notch. One reason it was a complex order is that the floor to ceiling mirror (8 ft by 4 ft) had supplier issues and they sent back a couple cuts due to workmanship problems. They could have shown up with a bad mirror but chose to do it right. I was really impressed with the whole experience but didn't leave a Yelp review then. I worked with Carolyn Brooks and Dan McLaughlin and it was smooth sailing. Fast forward to 2021. There was a defect in some of the sealant they had used which caused some discoloring on the mirror installation. Sound View stands behind their work with a 10 year warranty. I called them up, and Dan McLaughlin coordinated and scheduled all the work to remedy the defect. They sent a tech out and provided a fix that didn't require ripping out the installed mirror and fixed the installation issue. I'm super happy with the way it looks! I'm super happy with the work and would recommend Sound View to anyone. Couldn't be happier - good companies like this are hard to find. read more

We had a slider door in our kitchen and the seal broke and it filled with condensation and looked terrible. We contacted Sound View and they quickly responded. After sending some photos they talked me through the need for a full replacement and gave me a quote. They were very helpful and quickly scheduled an in person review and then an instal. The team did a great job carefully removing the old door, and the new door looks fantastic. We were very happy with the quality of the door, the instal and the fair pricing. After extensive research on sliding door installation companies I settled with Sound View Window & Door. It appeared they had not so good so, so reviews about 50/50 but had somewhat good reviews on door installments. The companies I had come out wouldn't do the job or I didn't have a peace of mind about the estimate/walk thru. The communication was a little bumpy in the beginning but we worked it out and I understood they were busy and must be somewhat good. Long story short...Dan came by the house to work out all the details and we got the ball rolling. They were so busy I had to wait for about two months for the installment BUT it was worth the wait. They showed up on the day they said and showed up at a perfect time and finished in a day just before night set in. Patrick was the installer with some help later on. Patrick was very professional, knowledgeable of the job and super detailed and kept me informed about everything. The total job added value to my home and it looks Fabulous read more

One of the more frustrating experiences of my life. I am not sure if installing windows is just a really hard job or if Sound View needs new installers. The caulking is still not right and looks like someone applied it using their elbows. I will second husband's review, which does not show up on their reviews page: Great company to do work with if you like mediocre results at full price. If you have others install your windows or you can do it yourself, maybe they are OK. If you need to rely on them for installation- get ready for a horrendously frustrating experience where you can watch them make the same mistakes on multiple attempts and eventually just give up. There really is no other explanation I can come to other than their installers just don't care. After no less than 7-8 attempts and multiple different installers stopping by (unannounced usually which is super convenient) to take their crack at the EXACT SAME WORK...it's still not right. 3-4 months past when the works was supposed to be done. I could go on and on and explain everything that went wrong. I'm too exhausted and wished I had just hired a contractor to do the work correctly and professionally. I don't know, maybe they should just change their name to Sound View Doors? Nevermind, they screwed that little side job up for us a couple times too. read more

Windows are great and seemed inexpensive especially since I installed them myself. The custom sized windows were built ahead of schedule and they were understanding when I couldn't pick up my windows for a few months. No complaints at all and I would definitely shop here again. Especially handy is that there is a u-haul location directly across the street, so if you happen to buy giant windows (my windows were 7ft long), you can rent a trunk very easily. read more

Update July 2014: Due to the miscommunication, Sound View Window & Door fully reimbursed us for the painter expense and we are now 100% satisfied with their team. We have many rental properties and will be looking to Sound View for future business. Thanks Dan for working through the issues and making us whole again! Hired Sound View Window & Door to do a rip and replace of the existing windows in my 2 story condo. The guys who did the install were great. They were on time and did an awesome job removing the existing windows which were very challenging due to height restrictions. However, the sales people were not so good. When it came time to paint the existing door panels, they had never communicated the work to the install guys despite discussing the work in the shop. I ended up having to hire another painter just to get the trim to match the building per condo association rules which cost additional. When I took this back to the sales person, he pointed to an obscure sentence buried in the contract. A good company would have acknowledged the error and reimbursed me for the paint and labor. Bottom line: buy your windows elsewhere, but hire their installers if you can. read more

We recently had all of our windows replaced by Sound View. It was a great experience, and the service was exceptional. We had several companies come and give us bids (about 6), and the experience was by far the best with Todd from Sound View, who came to our house and proved the most affable, experienced, professional, and yet casual out of all the other representatives from other competitors. It's a great experience when the people you deal with give you all the facts and even the ones that prove to be things you can not do to save money, or that you didn't think to ask but they want to take the time to educate you about. Our installation was fast, and the installer Dan was also a great guy to have in the house doing the work. He was obviously experienced and very good at his job. It went really well, and we are happy with our decision to support them. The price was competitive and well worth every cent. read more

Pros: Responsive and available office and scheduling folks, all around well informed and helpful team Cons: They're good, so they stay busy On April 9th, I submitted a quote request for a sliding door install from the Sound View Window & Door website and heard back that same day. They worked with me to find an installation date and time that worked around my schedule (amongst many other projects that pushed the date out a bit). They were quick to help when I had to bump my installation even further out because of other unrelated things going on at my house. On June 20th, the Sound View installer came out and installed the new door. I had plenty of questions for the office and the installer and everyone answered my questions patiently and completely. They ran a couple different estimates when I wasn't sure exactly which options I wanted. I don't think that the quote process or installation could have gone better. I talked about the door and options that I wanted with the sales and administrative folks through email and by phone; they seemed equally available for whatever I felt like using at the time. The installer was kind enough to answer a lot of questions that I had about the door he was installing, its maintenance, and other products that I was interested in later. The sliding door they installed was a Milgard Ultra fiberglass door, but he had experience with a lot of other products that I was curious about. I talked to a several other companies, and I'm satisfied with my choice. I'll use Sound View Window & Door again when I get around to replacing windows. read more

We are impressed with the workmanship and quality windows and French doors that Soundview provided. We had to cancel installation at the last minute due to the Covid crisis and they were very understanding and sensitive to our hesitation to have people on our property. When the new installation day came they were very professional and followed strict mask and glove protocols. Those are the last windows we need to have replaced and I'm almost sad not to have these guys around more often. Willing to do small jobs. Perfect solution. I went to see them with measurements. Jeff W. understood exactly how to blend modern windows into old architecture, found the Milgard products I needed, set up an order. Dan came out for critical measurements and explained how to prep the house for install. Patrick C. did the install. Sound View Window and Door recently replaced 6 windows in our house as a part of an energy-savings upgrade project. They were excellent, contacting us by phone and email before the project began to let us know what we needed to do before they arrived and when to expect them (even a "we're on our way" courtesy call the first morning!). They were efficient and respectful and very knowledgeable. They kept the worksite very clean and always informed us of what they were doing. When they uncovered a small amount of old dry rot under the bathroom window they went above and beyond to help us fix the problem. The project supervisor stopped by during installation to make sure everything was going well. We've received compliments already! I dropped by Sound View on a Friday afternoon to talk with their staff about a project in our home (replacing a sliding glass door). Dan, the staff I spoke with, started a file on my project, took a few notes and when another customer came in, asked if he could email me an estimate. This is a pretty simple project so I expected he'd be able to turn around the email in a day or two. When Tuesday arrived and no email from Dan, I dropped him a note. Back came a reply letting me know that I needed to give him more details before he could give me an estimate. (Perhaps he should have spent just a wee bit more time with me when I came in to get all of the information he needed rather than just jump from me to another customer when they walked through the door. Or even email me with his request rather than wait for me to contact him.) I shot back a reply, included a picture of the existing door and some measurements and told him that if he was too busy with other work to just let me know and I'd pursue other dealers. Three days later and no response. What I've learned over the years is that you're most likely to see a company's best behavior when they are trying to get your business. If they do a lousy job responding to your initial questions, if their follow up is shaky, they're probably going to do a lousy job with your project. From the other Yelp reviews, it looks like Sound View has some staff who would do well to get some basic customer service training. It isn't rocket science: just treat customers the way you'd like to be treated and you'll do fine. read more

I had Sound View come out a few times to do work for us. The first time was great. They had a guy there whose name I can't remember but he was fantastic and everything was flawless. He replaced about 8 single pane windows with new ones. We hired them again to replace our doors. The guy that came out previously had left the company and they sent a guy, Dan. This experience has been one disaster after another. One door had a visible gap so you could feel the wind blowing through the seam. The other one they didn't cut right so there was a 3 in hole between the top of the door and the wall. Did they think just because it was the top of the door and you couldn't see it that it didn't matter? They came back and fixed both and ended up having to replace one of the doors but now the front door hardware is loose and the door handle pops in and out. I need to get it repaired but not going to trust them to come back out and do it. I will not use them again. **update: Upon seeing this review on Yelp, Sound View offered to fix the hardware issues. I had another contractor fix it and they reimbursed me. The doors are now working well. read more

They seemed nice, came out to look at our space. The salesperson spent a lot of time asking questions and really trying to get it right. When they sent the estimate I was surprised at how high it was. It had been a while since we'd gotten windows, but these were twice the price of the last ones we'd gotten. So I responded to their email, saying I was surprised at how high the cost of the materials was and asking if that was the best they could do. I never heard back. We followed up with another email about a week later, asking if they had a response - I never heard back. I'm pretty sure we dodged a bullet with these guys. If they would have just responded with "Yes, materials are really expensive right now, we can't go any lower" we would have gone ahead and hired them for the work. But a complete lack of response? It scares me to think what might have happened if we'd hired them and something went wrong! We ended up going with another local firm and have been quite pleased with them. read more

I needed one window replaced. I tried two local companies and neither followed through. I am so glad because I then found Sound View Window & Door. The salesman, Steve Tibbetts, was prompt in setting up an appointment and actually keeping it. He followed me through the process of installation and follow up. The installers are employees of the company, not contractors. That makes a huge difference. I got what I wanted and needed at a reasonable price. The company and its employees made the order and installation process painless. They treated me wonderfully, as if I had ordered all new windows instead of just one replacement. Obviously, Sound View Window & Door only wants Yelp readers to read the good reviews about their company and not the bad, based on their reply. Further, they seem to resort to name calling and mudslinging just to discredit a client who has spent a lot of money at their company (and has put up with a lot of grief). This clearly shows their true nature and I would caution anyone out there who is thinking of using Sound View Window & Door. I stand by my original comments. With so many very good window and door companies in and around Seattle, why settle for substandard service? Why put up with stuff like this when all you want to do is inform? read more

I had Sound View replace my bathroom window 2 1/2 years ago. They did a GREAT job. It's a hard window since it's in the shower, and they did great installation with a competative price for the window. I now need 2 windows repaced in the basement. They've changed their policy and have a $1400 service charge minimum, not including the cost of product. Their rationale is that this is the cost for 2 people all day, and that at any less, they lose money. My project doesn't require 2 people all day. And my first job was completed as their schedule allowed, between other jobs, with one installer in under 3 hours. So I'm very disappointed to not be able to use them again. I've been loyal and recommended them far and wide. I now won't be able to do that. Policies like this push consumers to big box stores, which is so frustrating to someone invested in supporting local business. read more
