I've hired R&L for several homes since 2018, and recently worked with them on a remodel with a major door & window project. They not only replaced every window and door in the home, but they also framed and installed a new window, The nearly doubled the size of a garden window, reframed a window opening to install french doors, reframed an old slider opening to install a combination of a smaller window and an outswing door with a side light. I'm sure I'm forgetting some of the work they did on that project, because it was a large undertaking. It turned out beautifully and really changes the entire function of the living spaces. Poor quality and no accountability Update from one to two stars: After I posted this review, R&L reached out and offered to comeback at "no extra cost." The gentleman who came over to fix the window admitted that the top was not sealed, which was the reason why the water got in. Original Review Had R&L replace a window in our kitchen in 2020. Less than a year later, we had our exterior walls power washed, and to our surprise, a water leaked into our kitchen through the window replaced by R&L. NONE of the other windows in our house leaked water, so we contacted R&L to ask them to come back and take a look at the window. They refused to help. They blamed the issue on water being sprayed on the window, which did not occur. At the end of the day. The only room in our house where water got in after the exterior was power washed was our kitchen, and the water got in because the window was not properly sealed. I would have expected R&L to offer to seal the window for free, but instead they refused to take accountability for the issue. read more

I ordered my windows separately from Home Depot and then had R&L install. I reached out to about a dozen other window companies and this company seemed to be the most feasible and reasonably priced (getting new windows installed is expensive regardless). The owners are all good people (Randy, another guy named Randy and Mark). Mark is EXTREMELY attentive to detail and I really appreciated the time that he took to guide the crew on the days that he was at my home. I am one of those customers who asks a thousand questions, however, no matter how many questions I inundated Tasha with, she was always able to get back to me with a detailed answer in an timely manner. Although, I believe texting is preferred for this company, as I was never able to speak with anyone over the phone on any occasion. In hindsight I am glad that we communicated via text so I could look back and reference later if needed. Tasha helped me submit a claim for a few of the windows that arrived defective - making that process seamless. Although there were a few interior cosmetic issues after installation, which cost me $1k to fix with a painting company, I assume no window installation company is perfect. 4 stars is primarily due to the company promising me a final walk through and then not doing a final walk through. I took the liberty to tape off each room with plastic during their time here, as I didn't want dust everywhere. This was to save them time, and it did. They should've had more than enough extra time to do a final walk through with me, however they failed to follow through with that promise. Despite a few hiccups, in the future I would recommend this company for window installation. read more

I highly recommend R&L windows. They do more than windows. They also do doors. They were referred to us by our real estate agent. They are a small family owned business. Randy does the measurements and he is a very friendly guy. There was some issue with a crew they had hired because they were busy and they had to reschedule several times, and get a truck that could fit on our road, but they cleared it up and came out. They did a wonderful job replacing a sliding glass door and creating an interior door. The guys were skilled, friendly, and they cleaned up after the job well. We got 6 bids and R&L was by far the lowest, but they did amazing work. For a job that others wanted $5000-$7000 for (and two insane places wanted $8000-$9000+ for) R&L managed to do all 3 doors for only $4200. I strongly advise anyone reading this to give this company a try. For any future windows or doors we need done we will be calling R&L. I am planning to put my house on the market in early 2021. The previous owner had replaced some of the original windows in this house, but not all of them. In order to increase "curb appeal" and make the house more efficient I decided to have R&L Windows replace the remaining original windows. The quality of the windows they use is great. We went with the Milgard windows. They feature automatic locking and the sliding glass door can be opened with a key (note: an actual, proper, key not an easy to pick filing cabinet key like some other vendors). Some of the windows also required privacy glass and Milgard offered a number of different privacy patterns (we went with "frost"). Now for the real meat of the review: R&L Windows themselves. My wife and I could not be happier with the whole experience. The process took several months, which was frustrating, but that's because of Covid-19 and not anything R&L was doing. The folks at R&L windows know their stuff and are easy to work with. The owner, Randy, came to my home in order to meet with me and to get exact measurements for the window order. Given the new world we live in I was happy to see that not only did he wear "booties" on his shoes to keep from tracking dirt into the house he also wore a mask the whole time he was inside. When the installation day finally arrived the installers were awesome. First off, two of them have been with the company for 10+ years and they really know their trade. They also had a guy with them who, while new to the company, had been doing window installation for years. They were fun to chat with and very polite. Additionally, they went and replaced the windows in my home office first so I was able to get back to work quickly. The install job they did was very professional and they also took great care to clean up after themselves. While I don't see myself needing any more windows in the near future, R&L would be my preferred vendor if I did. We highly recommend them and you will be happy with the result. read more

Here is the story... I called at least 5 different window companies for bids to replace a broken window we have that won't open. I got multiple bids ranging from $500-$800 for this window to be replaced. Tasha from R&L contacted me right away after my first inquiry and we did a video chat where she showed me how to obtain the window information (that is on the inside of the window). She did a little investigating and found-out that these windows are under a lifetime warranty (which I had no idea). She sent me who to contact (a totally different company) and I got the window repaired for FREE! She could have tried to sell me a window and didn't need to do this research and let me know about this warranty! I will use them in the future for my windows that aren't on warranty! Quality of windows is not an issue. Installation and worksmanship was poor. Six windows were installed in six separate units of a sixplex. Two windows were cracked and had to be reinstalled. Installers damaged one garbage disposal by allowing debris to fall into a sink under a kitchen window. Water infiltrated through another window that was failed to be caulked. Caulking was ultimately poorly installed and sloppy. Installers were careless in covering floors, shoes, wearing masks. Some windows failed to lock and could not be removed for cleaning and had to be reinstalled. read more

We have been extremely pleased with R&L Windows. We worked with them over the summer and fall to replace several older windows in our home and to put in entirely new windows in a few places in our home where we'd previously had boring old walls. We plan to bring them back next year so that we can finish replacing all the older windows in the home. The window quality is fabulous and the workmanship was more than I'd hoped for as well. I could see that Randy's crew really knew what they were doing. What I was most impressed with was that, when the window supplier provided the wrong windows (not R&L's fault), R&L did everything they could to ensure that the correct windows were provided and that we didn't have to live with the error. The correct windows arrived and look amazing! It's a vast improvement on what we had before. The only area I would suggest they focus on is in responsiveness. We sometimes found that replies or communication could be a bit slow from the office, but it's a minor issue when the quality and workmanship were so high and the cost was what we considered to be reasonable. read more

R&L replaced about 10 windows on our house last summer. The original visit to measure our windows was quick and professional without any pushy sales. The price was very good. And we've been happy with the new windows. However, the installation process was not pleasant. The crew seemed to be rushed and overworked, and as a result the work was rushed and sloppy. They overestimated how much could be done on each day, and ultimately had to come back on a Saturday because they were already scheduled every other workday. In fact, the crew mentioned they'd been working every weekend, so it seems they were chronically over-scheduled. The installation left a lot of mess and some minor damage. One window broke during removal and there were plenty of glass shards left behind outside. A few new dents were placed in the interior floors due to failure to put down any mat or plastic sheeting. The window trim and exterior siding were sloppy - left with noticeable missing paint, bends, and rough edges. Some details were missed and required follow-up, such as missing caulk. One other issue was with the communication prior to install. The quote and contract were somewhat lacking in detail, and one window was oriented to open in the direction opposite to what we preferred. Overall, R&L installed good new windows for a great price. But I'd recommend paying a bit more for an installer with a higher quality of craftsmanship and attention to detail. read more

I came down off cloud 9 and out of the view attic long enough to write this review. Having a hole cut in the side of your $600,000 home is nerve wracking. It.s something I've been thinking about doing for years. Finally I hired R and L Windows and am sure glad I did! These guys are the best. They were the only company I could find that would install my Craigslist purchased window. Including cutting the hole the job took only 3 hours. And now I have a view where there was a wall. Don't replace an existing window, add a new one. Think of the possibilities! It seems like a big deal to the layperson, but that's what these guys do. Also R and L Windows had the best price (pay with cash to get the cash discount). I am envisioning windows everywhere, my 1940's house doesn't have nearly enough light. I'm not one to write reviews unless the service is something so stellar that it warrants taking the time to write one that might be useful to others. This is definitely one of those cases and I want to applaud the work done by R&L Windows. There was a terrible windstorm that hit the Puget Sound about a week ago that caused much of the north Seattle area to lose power. There were also downed trees and one of those trees just happened to be in the green belt behind my rental home. It came down the side of the house and completely destroyed the window on the main floor. It was a Sunday when I found out about the damage and I was completely devastated knowing that I had tenants moving into the home in 2 weeks. It was also on the main floor which caused me to have a lot of anxiety about the security of the home. I was on Angie's List for about an hour contacting contractors for expedited window replacement and most places would tell me that the window would not arrive for another 4-6 weeks, a timeline that I found unacceptable given my particular circumstances. After nearly giving up for the night, I received an e-mail from Tasha asking about the dimensions of the window (reminder, it's Sunday). I sent over pictures and she quickly (within an hour) responded with what needed to be replaced and an estimate of the work. She was very cognizant of the time frame I was trying to meet as well as the security issue and was also willing to board of the window if we had to wait for the window to arrive. She went out to the property next day, measured the window, confirmed it was a stock size that could be installed the next day (not 2 weeks, not 4 weeks etc from other quotes I received). I contacted Randy for installation of french doors in place of a sliding glass door. Randy came by and showed me all of the possibilities and was very helpful and answered all of my questions. When the workers came in to install the door, they did a great job of removing the slider. The installation of the new door was okay, I was a little unhappy that there is a gap at the top of one of the french doors. Randy indicated that they would have to remove the whole door and re-install. My thoughts were that they installers were at the end of their day and wanted to be done instead of addressing my concern. So far, it seems to just be an aesthetic issue.
