My husband and I hired Energy Exteriors NW for a Milgard sliding door installation, and months later we're still dealing with the fallout, both from the door itself and from how the company has handled it. The install, twice: The first crew (7/30) installed the door with the frame out of square and the handle missing a part entirely, so it couldn't latch, rattled constantly, and had an inconsistent gap against the frame. They also cut out the old door and frame without putting down any protective sheeting, so concrete board dust (a fiber-cement material containing silica, an OSHA-regulated health hazard) covered the interior of our home, especially our kitchen. When the Project Manager inspected the door the next day, he confirmed the frame was installed incorrectly and promised to reinstall it properly. The second crew came back to redo the frame and reinstall the door (8/03), and while removing and replacing the trim and frame, they damaged our exterior siding. Erin offered to send her own crew to fix it, but after what happened during that reinstall (below), we didn't want any more of her installers in our home, so we're handling that repair ourselves. The incident: During a follow-up visit (8/04) to address ongoing problems, I pointed out that the door still wasn't right. One of the installers snapped at me in our kitchen: he shook the door hard, smirked, and yelled "YOU DON'T LIKE THIS?!" at me repeatedly, then suggested he could just remove the security lock if the rattle bothered us. My husband told both installers to leave. Ownership's response: We called immediately. Owner Erin didn't call back until later that day and showed no real concern. She followed up with a lengthy, polished email questioning our account of the incident, since our home security camera only captured the outside of the house, as if that meant what happened inside couldn't be trusted. It's a telling response from someone whose installer had just screamed at a customer. Where things stand now: Milgard has since come out to inspect the door as a warranty matter, and confirmed that the rattle and stiff latch are common on a large, custom 7.5-foot slider like ours (something we were never told when we ordered it), and that there's nothing more to be done about either one. The scratch on the interior glass, which appeared during the first install, will finally be repaired next week, months after the original install. One more thing worth knowing: their contract includes a non-disparagement clause instructing customers not to post negative comments online. That kind of clause is illegal and unenforceable under the federal Consumer Review Fairness Act of 2016. Its presence alone tells you how this company intends to handle complaints. (Not a lawyer, but this is well-established consumer protection law.) If you look through Erin's responses to other critical reviews here, you'll see a pattern: she replies to nearly every negative review personally, and instead of taking accountability, she consistently questions or minimizes the customer's experience. That's exactly what she did with us. We wanted a door that worked like a brand-new door should, an intact house, and honest communication. What we got was a door we still have to fight with every time we use it, a house we're repairing ourselves, and a company that was never straight with us. Do your research before hiring this company, and think twice before signing a contract with a non-disparagement clause in it. You can save yourself a lot of time, headaches, and potential damage by hiring a company with careful and professional installation crews, and managers who aren't (seemingly) motivated by a compulsion to always be right, even when they are demonstrably in the wrong and making mistakes left and right. read more

Do not use Energy Exteriors NW for window installs! We had a horrible experience with them. We were out of town when they installed our windows and they installed windows, one with a hole in it and another with a large defect in the middle. The defective window is our large front window and it was very noticeable when looking at our house. We have video of proof of them finding the hole and examining it shortly after install, the contractor told his boss about the hole in the window and they said nothing to us about it. They tried to get us to sign off on the project without telling us about the hole, but luckily we noticed it and brought it to their attention at which point they informed us they already knew about the hole. Horrible business practice. They took no responsibility for installing a window with a hole and another with a large defect, but made us go through the window manufactures warranty just days after they installed the faulty windows. We then had to wait a month for the manufacture to come throw up a new pain on the two windows in 10 minutes and leave. They did not restore the argon gas in the windows which improves energy efficiency and raises the temperature to prevent condensation and moisture build up. Within two days, the two replaced windows were completely covered in condensation, none of the other windows had condensation and they are claiming this is normal. When their sales person came to the house we showed him all the upstairs windows and asked him to add to the quote and scope of work the replacement of all ten of the upstairs window sills, he said no problem, will be easy. When they came to do the project they replaced 10 of the 12 downstairs window sills instead of the upstairs window sills and told us because we were not there for the critical measurement this mistake was our fault. They originally said for a large additional fee, much more expensive than we were originally told they would come back in 2 months and replace the upstairs window sills and later said they would not finish the work even though they were paid for the entire job. We chose to go with them only because they could get the install done the soonest, big mistake on our part. If we could do it again we would go with Window World, their presentation was much more thorough and informative. We spent over $34k for 25 windows to be replaced and window sills to be redone and have an incomplete project, which they are refusing to finish or take ownership for the mistakes. They told the finance company the job was complete while we were still out of town even knowing there was a hole in one of the windows. To end it all they are threatening to sue us if we leave them bad reviews. What a nightmare, save yourself the hassle and disaster and DO NO go with Energy Exteriors NW! read more

My great experience with Energy Exteriors NW started this year at the Seattle Home Show when my wife and I met Eric Gramonte. We had met several window people at the show, but Eric set himself apart by being truly knowledgeable about his products and his demeanor put my wife and I at ease. We set up 3 companies, including Energy Exteriors NW, to come to our home and give us bids to replace all of the windows (13), our French Door, and sliding door. Again, Eric set himself apart by giving us an all inclusive, straight forward, no baloney, and highly competitive quote right off the bat. One other company was over $10k higher! The second was several thousand higher even with the exact same windows, but lowered their price (and content of their offering) to get more competitive with Energy Exteriors NW. They actually, eventually beat their price, but we went with Eric. We ordered all Milgard Trinsic V300 for the windows and slider and the Ultra C650 for the French Door. Our order actually came in early so our installation was moved up 2 weeks. Raymond, Zack, and the rest of the installation crew were total professionals. Installing windows and doors is a messy business, but they managed to keep our home about as dust free as you could hope and the area around our home was equally tidy. They had the use of our guest bathroom and you could hardly tell they were there. They were quick and efficient craftsman that did an amazing job of making our home and our windows look like a million bucks. The installation took 3 days. We couldn't be happier! The two new windows cut into the room look amazing! The entire process was so pleasant and everyone was great to work with, from the initial site visit and quote to the team working on the house. Everyone was great. They completed the job on time and didn't leave a trace when they were gone. The windows actually arrived early from the manufacturer and they were willing to come and install earlier but the family schedule didn't work so we did it as originally planned. I could only find two contractors serving the Snohomish County and Camano area that do carpentry and windows. Good Guy Windows did an excellent job of removing four windows and the walls between them and filling that space with a three part Milgard window (picture in middle and a vertical slider one each side). The project included wall demolition, installing an 11' header, installing the window unit, and trimming. Trimming included new exterior casing and caulking, and removal, modification and re-use of interior paneling, liners and casing. They ripped the liners because the new window is thicker than the old ones. It took four men about seven hours including a break and a trip to Cascade Lumber when it was determined a header was needed. Job well done. Yes, good guys. Project done in March of 2018. read more

Earlier this year, my husband and I had all our single pane windows replaced with double vinyl in our recently purchased home. We received quotes from a few different companies, including Good Guys who came recommended by a family friend who'd used them some months earlier. Good Guys came in with the lowest bid and friendliest service, and we're happy they did the job because a great job they did. Most of the work was coordinated and took place with us living two states away, but Rob was always readily available and kept on top of things to make sure the project went according to schedule. It was annoying that we did not receive confirmation of the work being completed other than getting our final invoice emailed to us, especially since there were a few things the installers left unattended, but Rob was prompt to tend to our checklist and extended his apologies. I contacted this company online to change nine windows for a 1960's house in the Bothell/Kenmore area. I got a response very quickly and made an appointment with Dan to measure the windows and get an estimate. I was very pleased with the way business was conducted, and proceeded to set a date for the job. A couple of weeks later, Dan brought me a sample window and the trim for the windows to have it ready for the installation day. I told him I wanted a wider trim, and he accepted my request immediately. The day of the installation, the crew arrived on time and worked all day carefully, starting by the front of the house. The first day they installed five windows and left the house clean and ready for the next day. The second day they did the largest window and the back windows.
