Exterior Crew was one of four bids we got to replace our siding. They were the most expensive, but also the most detailed, which I appreciated. Overall, we are very satisfied with the work. Below are some pros and a couple opportunities from our experience: Pros: 1. Experience / Knowledgeable - we had a general idea of how we wanted the house to look and Andrey was great to work with in making it a reality. I told him the type of siding and the cedar soffit style we liked and the end product looked exactly as we imagined from the get go. 2. Great communication, easy to get a hold of Andrey and Vasily (the project manager assigned to us). We mainly communicated via email and they were always prompt in replying same day/next day. 3. Quality of materials used - the hardibacker siding was perfect for our house. It's a little more expensive than other materials, but being in a rainy area, it was worth it. 4. Professionalism of the crew - Eugene, Peter and the team that did the actual siding work were awesome! At the end of each work day, (if we were home), they would let us know they were done for the day and ask us if we had any questions or concerns. They cleaned up everyday so tools/materials weren't just lying around. They communicated well (English isn't their first language), but there was never any issues with understanding. Eugene seemed to be in charge and was a breeze to work with. 5. Final product - The end product was great and what we expected. Opportunities: 1. We had one minor issue throughout the project. After the siding job was complete, we had a roofing company come out to replace the roof. According to the roofers, the fascia that was replaced by EC was the wrong size and according to EC, it was the roofer's problem. Ultimately, we were the ones that had to pay both EC and the roofing company more money to fix the issue. The fascia had to be fixed by EC and the roofers charged us for more labor hours. We were out about another $2k total between the two companies. It's not necessarily EC's fault, but I wished the communication there was better (vs both companies pointing fingers at each other). Ideally, we hoped they would have fixed the fascia size at no additional cost since the project was so big to begin with and it was the only issue that had come up. 2. Paint job - Our entire house was painted by one person! He was very nice and prompt. But, because it was just one man, it took multiple days (prepping, taping, covering windows, etc.) We noticed that there were lots of spots where the white paint got on the cedar soffit, and some of the trim work that was grey blend into the white. All in all, he did a good job as a one man team, but there should have been a bigger team to split the work otherwise, staring at white paint all day for hours can be draining on the eyes. We just wished the attention to detail would have been a little better. We're very pleased with the work EC did for us, just wished it was about 10-15% less in price. The paint has held up (it's been almost one year), but we'll likely need to repaint in a year or two. We recommend EC to anyone who wants to re-side their house. Ask for Eugene and Peter to be on your crew! Professional office support (Andrey and Vasily) and amazing on-site team as well.

Home siding job

I had Exterior Crew perform a full siding replacement on my parent's house toward the end of last summer (2019) in preparation for its sale. Exterior Crew came in with a realistic bid and got the job. They started the job when promised and a friendly and professional crew showed up. During the work the crew was available for questions and were very courteous. The company management was always available by phone, text or email. During the initial phases of the work I received a 'right to lien property' notice from a materials supplier, which is a standard practice. I called the supplier and asked about Exterior Crew's payment history. They said they were good payers and that I really had nothing to be concerned about. Having had problems with liens due to poor character contractors, this was good news to me. After the job had started I noticed an exterior door that had dry rot at the bottom of the door frame. This had not been noticed previously and I asked what it would take to include the door replacement in the job. A fair add on price was negotiated and the company manager provided me a sample of available doors. One was selected and the door was put in with no hassle. Exterior Crew also does painting but I have a house painter friend and I was able to have him come in after and do his thing. At least one of the other bidders for this work did not like that I had my own painter and I feel their bid included a penalty for not having them do the additional work. Exterior Crew was fine with this situation and just did their work with no issues. The job was completed in a timely manner and they did a reasonable cleanup after. I couldn't ask for anything more on the siding job While the siding job on the house was underway, I had a long term commercial tenant in a building I manage request the exterior be painted ASAP. The owner's are responsible for the building exterior per the lease. By this time it was getting into September and I really needed the paint job to get done fairly quickly to beat the cool wet weather. Exterior Crew was able to get painters on the site within a reasonably short period of time. Due to the tight time frame I was unable to secure multiple bids, and I am not confident in knowing specifically how much this job should cost. As beating the weather was the most important issue I just went ahead and had Exterior Crew do the work. While I cannot attest to the competitive cost of the paint job, the most important thing to me was getting the painting done quickly and if it turned out that I paid a bit of a premium for this, then so be it. They solved the problem for me and the tenant was happy. That's all I really needed. At time of this writing I have discovered a dry rot problem at my house. I've performed some small dry rot repairs on my own, but this one is more involved than I want to tackle. I've asked Exterior Crew to come and give me an estimate because I have confidence in their work and appreciate how they operate their business.

It's now been 10 months since completion and we've experienced zero issues whatsoever, which is testament to the quality of the work. From the start, Kirill was responsive and responsible. His bid was competitive, and he was extremely detail-oriented. Since we wanted to order our own windows from Dunn Lumber, we had multiple conversations to ensure the measurements were exactly right. His thoroughness paid off -- all the windows arrived exactly as planned, avoiding delays or returns. During the installation process itself, Kirill and his crew (Ivan and Ivan) were always on time, courteous, efficient, and professional. They may be the ONLY contractors we've ever worked with who finished within the timeline that they laid out. Overall, we really enjoyed working with Kirill and would 100% recommend him to anyone looking to replace windows or doors. It would be nice if they also offered finishing services, like drywall touch-up and painting, but the quality of the work that they do specialize in is absolutely impeccable. Don't think twice about hiring Cascade!

Ivan and his team arrived on time and completed the install, replacing the exterior window and the interior door trim to match what was installed (but with better quality). Ivan was even able to address our misaligned original window trim. Now our drafty house feels sealed and quiet, with a noticable decrease in the time the heater is running. Kirill was responsive to any questions and worked with us to resolve a misunderstanding of weekend scheduled work. Ivan, Roman, and Teras were all attentive to our interior and made a point to clean up afterwards.

This was by far the lowest quote we got but it was that and the professionalism that made us choose them. The crew was great - fast, efficient and very, very skilled with Hardie board siding. We had several other projects done at the same time and each contractor commented on how well the Hardie was being installed. They kept us informed and communicated well when there were questions or decisions to be made. The entire project was done in six working days, clean up with thorough and we are 100% satisfied with the results. I highly recommend Energy Exteriors NW and when we need to have our windows replaced, we will definitely be contacting them for the work.

My husband and I hired Energy Exteriors NW for a Milgard sliding door installation, and months…read morelater we're still dealing with the fallout, both from the door itself and from how the company has handled it. The install, twice: The first crew (7/30) installed the door with the frame out of square and the handle missing a part entirely, so it couldn't latch, rattled constantly, and had an inconsistent gap against the frame. They also cut out the old door and frame without putting down any protective sheeting, so concrete board dust (a fiber-cement material containing silica, an OSHA-regulated health hazard) covered the interior of our home, especially our kitchen. When the Project Manager inspected the door the next day, he confirmed the frame was installed incorrectly and promised to reinstall it properly. The second crew came back to redo the frame and reinstall the door (8/03), and while removing and replacing the trim and frame, they damaged our exterior siding. Erin offered to send her own crew to fix it, but after what happened during that reinstall (below), we didn't want any more of her installers in our home, so we're handling that repair ourselves. The incident: During a follow-up visit (8/04) to address ongoing problems, I pointed out that the door still wasn't right. One of the installers snapped at me in our kitchen: he shook the door hard, smirked, and yelled "YOU DON'T LIKE THIS?!" at me repeatedly, then suggested he could just remove the security lock if the rattle bothered us. My husband told both installers to leave. Ownership's response: We called immediately. Owner Erin didn't call back until later that day and showed no real concern. She followed up with a lengthy, polished email questioning our account of the incident, since our home security camera only captured the outside of the house, as if that meant what happened inside couldn't be trusted. It's a telling response from someone whose installer had just screamed at a customer. Where things stand now: Milgard has since come out to inspect the door as a warranty matter, and confirmed that the rattle and stiff latch are common on a large, custom 7.5-foot slider like ours (something we were never told when we ordered it), and that there's nothing more to be done about either one. The scratch on the interior glass, which appeared during the first install, will finally be repaired next week, months after the original install. One more thing worth knowing: their contract includes a non-disparagement clause instructing customers not to post negative comments online. That kind of clause is illegal and unenforceable under the federal Consumer Review Fairness Act of 2016. Its presence alone tells you how this company intends to handle complaints. (Not a lawyer, but this is well-established consumer protection law.) If you look through Erin's responses to other critical reviews here, you'll see a pattern: she replies to nearly every negative review personally, and instead of taking accountability, she consistently questions or minimizes the customer's experience. That's exactly what she did with us. We wanted a door that worked like a brand-new door should, an intact house, and honest communication. What we got was a door we still have to fight with every time we use it, a house we're repairing ourselves, and a company that was never straight with us. Do your research before hiring this company, and think twice before signing a contract with a non-disparagement clause in it. You can save yourself a lot of time, headaches, and potential damage by hiring a company with careful and professional installation crews, and managers who aren't (seemingly) motivated by a compulsion to always be right, even when they are demonstrably in the wrong and making mistakes left and right.
