I was referred to Jack's Construction by Frank Lumber. Jack quoted me $1,600 plus staining to replace my door. I specifically asked if there were any additional costs, materials, delivery, anything, and he said no, everything was included except staining & sales tax. I got another quote, which was slightly less than his price, but given that he was recommended by Frank, I choose to work with him. When the door arrived he quoted me 4-6 weeks to install the door, I kindly thanked his time and said I would rather work with someone else as I would like get my door sooner than later. He said he can do it sooner and sent the door for staining. After the install, he handed me an invoice for $3,600 plus tax. When I questioned it, his story kept changing: * First he said it was for extra materials and delivery, the same things he told me were included. * Then he stated that the trim was so expensive and that he had to go get it. * Then he claimed staining alone was $1,800. I called the staining company directly. The actual cost was $900. At that point he continued being evasive and aggressive. He eventually offered a $400 discount off his inflated invoice. Needing the project done, hoping that I never have to deal with him, I paid $3,200 and moved on. We agreed on $2,500. I paid $3,200. The difference was built on lies. Avoid. read more

We replaced our 47 year old front door recently with a beautiful new clear fir door and relight. We threw Jack a few curve balls such as ordering the door with the frame painted as we were originally going to paint the door as well, but several people told us we should stain it instead as it would look much nicer. The door arrived with the painted frame and Jack took it to the vendor to have it stained for us. In the mean time, we searched for a paint that matched the door. When Jack brought the door back to us, the stain was too light. Not Jack's fault, but the staining vendor's. Jack went to bat for us and arranged to have the door restained. He even picked the door up at our house, again, and took it to the strainer. The stain was finally the right shade, and Jack brought the door back to us. He was always very gracious about having to make several trips. Ian did the door installation, and he did an amazing job, considering out house is 47 years old, and nothing in our house is plumb or level. The new door looks beautiful, and we couldn't be happier! We wanted to order doors through Frank Lumber and Jack's Construction was one of the installers they recommended. Scheduling and communicating with Jack has been a breeze, even with our complex order of prehung, antique, and new slabs. Ian came out to do the install and had 8 doors up in a matter of hours. Some of these were the original Douglas fir doors with mortise locks, which can be tricky to hang just right. That was no problem for Ian, and he took great care not to damage the original trim in place. We had our foundation adjusted between Jack's measurements and the installation that caused the plumb to change on some doors, but Ian was able to reconfigure stuff so you would never know. He even went the extra mile to help us reseat stuck doors we weren't replacing. Great team and we plan to use them again for installing closet bifolds! read more

Jack and Ian were a pleasure to have in our home and went the extra mile for us. The doors and trim are being painted today and my painter thought there was something scraping a pocket door. Jack came right over (within 2 hours) and quickly resolved the issue. It turned out to be a collection of dust / lint inside the pocket that was disrupted when the door was sprayed. We recently used Jack's for installation of a new exterior door purchased from Frank's Lumber. Jack was very easy to communicate with, responded promptly, and was flexible with scheduling, for both the consult/measurements and the installation. On the day of installation, Ian showed up right on time and did a great job with installation. Installation was quick and everything was cleaned up immediately following the install. Ian walked me through everything that was done prior to departing to make sure I was satisfied with the new door and ensured me that they would come back should I notice anything later. There was a slight hiccup afterwards where I thought the keys to the new handle were missing. This turned out to be my own error, but Jack was quick to jump in to offer a solution until I realized that I did in fact have the keys. We hired Jack's Construction to put in two exterior doors. The entire process was very smooth. Everyone who came to our house wore masks at all times. When Jack came to look at the old doors he told us what style doors we would need to order (slab vs prehung). We scheduled a tentative installation date that got pushed back once because the doors took longer to arrive than I had anticipated. Communication was good throughout the process. The door installations went very smoothly, and Jack and Ian tidied up beautifully afterwards and gave some tips for maintenance. Jack was recommended to me by Frank's Lumber for installing my new custom front door. I had to wait a while for an opening in the calendar but the installer Jack sent did an amazing job. He was professional, friendly and we'll equipped. It ended up being more complicated than we expected because the door being replaced was original to my 1920s house and the plaster walls had adhered to the frame, meaning it couldn't be popped out normally without cracking the walls. The installer carefully and patiently chizzled it out and removed it perfectly without a scratch. My new door is installed beautifully, works great and looks awesome. When he came over to measure the doors, he made some great recommendations for the type of doors to buy. When the doors were delayed coming in, he nonetheless made sure to schedule the install quickly.
