I would not recommend this place to anyone! During our remodel we had enough stress to last a lifetime, and using Frank's didn't help matters. We spent over 3k here and the crasftsmanship was terrible. We bought 6 sets of double doors and one fir door for our bathroom. We also had them hang 3 existing doors in jambs. Out of the three doors which I brought there for them to hang in new jambs, none of them had mortises which lined up for the strike plates! They were not even close. They were off by over 1/4". When I called they said to just bring them back in! But they were already installed and nailed in to the framing. I fixed every mortise with a chisel which I don't mind doing, but I paid them to do that. Maybe a partial refund?? read more

My husband and I ordered all of our interior doors from Frank's years ago and they delivered about 20 doors to the wrong address. They actually pried open someone else's garage doors and put them there thinking it was our garage. They were annoyed when I called and they realized their mistake and had to come back to get the doors, explain to our neighbor and then deliver them to us. Fast forward to the present. Since Frank's has a monopoly on doors in this city so we came back to get one simple door that needed replacing. Frank that we dealt with was not only curt, but dismissive and unbelievably rude. Money is tight for us, and it was beyond disappointing to get a piece of crap door with cheap hardware hinges and such low quality. Picking up the door was another dismissive and rude interaction which caused us to go inside and complain. Poor customer service! Placed an order for interior doors, we did not get what we ordered. We finished them 6 months later because our contractor had a head injury, so when he went to install the doors, they were too small. They were not the size on the order sheet and we showed them it. They claimed they do not keep records of purchases past 6 months and they didn't know what notes said on how to build them. That should be what was ordered on the order form. Excellent work and amazing customer service!!! I contacted Frank Lumber/Door because I thought a dead tree on their property was threatening to fall and damage our fence. The very next day they investigated and let me know the dead tree was on OUR property after all. The following day they came out with a crew of five or six and cleaned up the ivy that was all over that part of our shared fence, removed a sizeable portion of a very rotten part of the fence (which technically was our responsibility since the flat side was facing us), and carefully removed every trace of plants along the now exposed fence line. A few days later, a three-man crew came back and put a matching new fence up in the gap with the flat side facing us! They did an amazing job, were very meticulous, and I could tell that their workers all enjoyed working together. They never dithered about whose responsibility the fence was, they just promptly got out and fixed it. We weren't even customers of theirs! Would you like to pay about a third of the price if your new door to have it matched up to your old door? I was happy to, because nothing in my house is straight. However, I would not have liked to have to return the next day because the new ("matched") door could not be hung because it was more than a half inch off vertically. I also would not have liked to be treated like a idiot when I got there and explained the situation. There was a note in pencil at the top of the door and it turns out they had "forgotten" to do the top cut. Ok, mistakes happen and customer service isn't everyone's strong suit. I got the door home and it still did not hang correctly. My husband, who has stage 4 cancer (this part admittedly is not The Door Stores fault, ha ha) had to spend hours of a precious weekend trimming it to fit. I have no idea why I spent extra here to have my door matched when the workmanship was sloppy and the people were rude. Won't be back. read more

As a general contractor, my customer had an odd-sized door, 70" only, and due to the water damage that caused the other one to fail, I suggested that fiberglass would be a better option for replacement. I called up and got Dominic Jensen as their sales rep. He agreed fiberglass would be a great fit and sent over the options the customer sought. A week later, the door was built and installed, and it fit perfectly. There was a simple mistake with the wrong hinges being installed, but after reaching out, Dominic has me taken care of. If a zero star review was on offer that's what I would give Franks Lumber The Door Store. From start to finish the customer service is astonishingly poor. I have had the unfortunate luck of using Frank's twice now and both times have been unbelievably awful. To start, they haven't once met a deadline. I have used the door match and painting service twice, both times they got my "reservation day" wrong, which means that after removing all the interior doors from my house and driving to Frank's I had to then drive back home and REHANG my doors, all because they dont use computers for scheduling or billing. Further, during both "door match" processes they took longer to match than I was told AND the painting process took a full week longer than I was told (3 weeks to paint doors?!). At each and every encounter their customer service could have cared less. As if its my fault for expecting products to be delivered in the time frame SET BY THE STORE SELLING THE PRODUCT. Here's the kicker, because they dont use any computers for sales, service or scheduling everything is done by hand. Because of this I was called back by a salesmen who asked for more money because he both didn't accurately account for tax. Frankly, I'm a consumer that would excuse all of this if the vendor was apologetic and made attempts to remedy the situation but they down right treat you like garbage. On the phone and in person customers are treated as an inconvenience. I have some much disdain for this store it drove me to right my first and only yelp review. STAY AWAY. read more

20 years ago we replaced five hollow core doors with doors from Frank Lumber. We gave them the old doors and they matched them. The new doors were easy to install. We recently did the same thing with the last three doors. VERY serious quality decline. Out of the three, one fit, the hinges were a little tight. the other two are a nightmare. The hinges fit ok, but the door knob strikes were off. On was 3/8" to high and the other one is 1/4" to low. In both cases I have to move the strike plate. I called the store to mention the quality decline. Basically he said the door frame settled after I removed the doors. Yeah, I don't think so. We used to recommend the Door Store. I have been going to Frank Lumber the Door Store for the last 10 years of and their doors have always been high-quality, with a quick turnaround time. Within the last year, quality has seem to have gone down and Customer Service I is not always there. 50% of the time, they cannot Seem to find my order and even sometimes my doors aren't even ready for pick up when they claim it would be ready on the date that they told me. Considering that they use paper to save all of their data on, things seem to get lost quite frequently. I also feel like there is a lack of recognition for continual customers, this place can be a joke at times and their employees tend to treat it as just a job. And I am done dealing with their BS and will be looking for another door company to provide further assistance. read more

Avoid this place if at all possible. Strap in if you want to hear the tale: We wanted a door, its called the door store... what could go wrong? Literally everything. At every step. We got some help on the floor and soon picked out a door we loved at a discount. We paid. We left. We then get a call that what they sold us was not actually what we had asked for and they needed to build what we had asked for. Lead time goes up by weeks. Also they needed to charge us about 400$ more than what had already been agreed to and paid for. (this was an honest mistake, but feels very bait and switchy). They had already lost repeat customer possibilities at this point... Fast forward, they deliver the new door they built to our specs. But its wrong. Its the same door we bought off the floor. They just built us a new one ***thats also wrong***. Easy mistake to make if you are ****still using a paper invoice system**** ...wait what? They use a paper invoice system? Yea. How they are still in business I absolutely cannot understand. Sales people on the floor admitted it causes problems constantly. Understatement. So they come pick up the second wrong door they sold us. And again start building what we asked for in the first place. At this point we call and ask to talk to a manager, specifically ask NOT to get a call back from our sales rep, as they have caused many of the issues so far... and guess who calls back, the sales rep. If you communication as a company is that bad AND you are on a paper invoice system, things are going to go poorly for you... So we finally get a hold of a manger who eventually gives in to covering the cost of our door hardware in exchange for the continual string of mistakes made by the store. So we come in to 'pick up' our free hardware once the door is finished (by us) and ready to install. We are told at this point that most of the hardware showcased on the floor is 6 weeks out on mail order. Dear. God. Why did the Manager not tell us that when he offered us free hardware? 100% lack of any customer centered forethought at all. Worst customer service ever. They ended up 'loaning' us a basic knob and deadbolt set so our home could be secure for the month and a half while we waited. But I still had to to and extra install because they didn't let us know they order most of their product instead of keeping stock of whats on the floor. Also the hardware we bought required 'some work' to mount, said the sales rep. I happen to be a hobbyist wood worker and taking a chisel to our new 1400$ door was in my skillset, but 99% of their non commercial customers would have been remotely able to do this and they gave absolutely no indication of how technical fitting the hardware would be. Before I called them, I had tried more than a dozen locksmiths who wouldn't even consider dealing with a multi-point lock with stories about how hard it was to get parts and how complicated they are to work on. I bought a screen door for a DIY project. The door is great. Took paint well and was easy to install. When I put the screen in (which is a separate piece) I noticed that it was very loose inside its frame. So, I put it in my car and took it back hoping to exchange it for a screen that was taught. I spoke with Frank. Without going to look for a replacement, he shook his head and said, "nope, that's how they all are." I questioned that. He said, "... all of them. We get them from China and there isn't a lot we can do." Then he told me I could take it and get it re-screened. Another way of saying, I know my stuff is crap, but I don't really care. Be warned. Look at the details and if someone shows up at your house with a delivery, go over all of it before signing off. It's likely come from China without any sort of intermediary inspection. read more

My wife and I have been very careful this past year because of covid. We desperately needed a new door. DO NOT GO HERE! No one takes covid seriously around here. Half the sales guy weren't wearing their masks correctly or even at all. I wasn't surprised to hear they had to shut down for a week cause the employees all got covid. Doors are a tricky subject to me - I personally think you should just go to Home Depot and buy a door off the floor. However, hubby (and the people he works with/for) doesn't agree. So if you are in need of nice door or have to try to fix an existing door, this is definitely the place to go. I've been here several times and every time it is packed! They must be doing something right. There prices are in line with other "door" stores. The majority of their employees are awesome and helpful however one guy who helped me was beyond nasty and contradicted everything his co-worker had told me (and made me feel like an idiot - but like I said he is the exception to the rule). 3K for a new front door buys you an ongoing nightmare. The door (manufactured by CODEL) arrived without a second hole for a deadbolt although I had purchased a deadbolt along with the door (unbelievable!) Also, one side light window was blown and the door had white primer showing through the dark brown paint in multiple places! Frank Lumber & Hardware turfed all responsibility for these problems to Codel. It took a number of phone calls to get my repairs scheduled.The tech fixed the sidelight and drilled the deadbolt hole...but then there was an issue with the deadbolt! The Frank Lumber & Hardware manager said they would order me a new deadbolt...3 months after my new door being installed...still no working deadbolt...a Frank Lumber representative said that maybe they can get to it next month... I finally gave up and hired a locksmith! read more
