So much brighter in the space.

I have loved working with Seattle's Doorhouse on a couple of projects. When we first purchased our house, we changed out the front and side doors and Dave was lovely to work with. They were able to easily take our old door and do their magic so that the new door hung perfectly. Recently we decided to update an apartment that we have. It was time for a new exterior door and a few interior doors. Dave and I spent quite a bit of time on the phone, I live on Bainbridge, so there were emails and photos so that they could retrofit the new doors to the old frames, with the correct cut-outs for the hinges and the catch. I really appreciated the attention to detail, so that the door that my husband ferried home, worked. Dave and I had discussed the interior doors and there were a few snafu's in getting delivery of the correct door to the Doorhouse, so Dave and I discussed options to support my timeframe. He came up with a great suggestion and I was able to have my project completed in the timeframe I wanted. I highly recommend this team. Everyone I spoke to was professional, friendly, and Dave is a kick. We will be back when we change out all the interior doors in our house. Awesome Team!

A great place for your DIY project needs! I was visiting my son and due to COVID restrictions we did a number of home projects during my visit. One of them was to replace the back door to his house in which the glass seal had failed and it was fogged up. We found out about Seattle Doorhouse and called them up about the door replacement, after a short discussion on cost, installation and door types we decided to use them. The first step was removing the old door and transporting it down to Seattle Doorhouse. They told us to park in the front so we could off load the door. We were greeted by an employee who took our door in for measurements while we selected our new door. They have a large selection of doors and side lights that would meet most residential and commercial applications. It was a fairly easy process for us to pick out a new door, since my son wanted a door similar to the old one in which they matched up for us. We bought an unpainted wooden door with a full length double pane window. They confirmed the direction we wanted the door to open and measured the old door for location of the hinges. We paid for the door and they said it would be ready in couple of days (which was critical as I was on a tight time schedule!). They helped us getting the old door back into the vehicle and we picked up the new door as scheduled. We were delighted in finding the new door's hinges were a perfect fit, but had an issue with the door frame, that was no fault of Seattle Doorhouse's, but we literally needed to be beat the door frame back in place! All in all we had an excellent experience and would highly recommend Seattle Doorhouse as they are professional, friendly and a good value for the money!

Great prices, selection, and help. We got our entrance doors here at a fraction of the cost that our contractor was going to charge.

The 36-count indictment made public Wednesday said Seattle Barrel and Cooperage used a hidden drain to pump caustic wastewater directly into the King County sewer system. Seattle Barrel refurbishes used industrial and commercial barrels and drums. Part of that process involves washing the barrels in a corrosive solution. In a written statement provided by its attorney, Harold Malkin, Seattle Barrel blamed a former employee who was fired nine months ago. The company said it did not encourage or permit that worker's actions and that it will contest any criminal liability for them. The former employee has not been charged. The indictment names Seattle Barrel owner Louie Sanft, whose grandfather founded the company in 1916. It also names its plant manager, John Sanft, who is Louie Sanft's cousin. They are due to appear in court Jan. 9. The charges they face include conspiracy, which carries up to five years in prison; lying to Environmental Protection Agency investigators, which carries up to five years; and violating the Clean Water Act, which carries up to three years per count. "At a time when we are searching for strategies to protect Puget Sound and improve water quality for fish and wildlife, we need companies to do their share -- not scheme for ways to pollute in private," Seattle U.S. Attorney Brian T. Moran said in a news release. Federal prosecutors said dumping caustic, high-pH solutions into the sewer system can corrode it and the treatment plant and that the waste can wind up in Puget Sound, home to protected salmon, orcas and other species. Since at least 2009, the company's permit from King County has prohibited such discharges. In 2012, an employee from the King County Industrial Waste Program reported seeing John Sanft dump oily waste. Over the next several months, the program conducted secret monitoring and discovered that Seattle Barrel was repeatedly dumping high-pH wastewater into the sewer. The county fined the company $55,000, an amount that was reduced to about $17,000 when the company agreed to install an expensive wastewater treatment system. Louie Sanft claimed that the system made Seattle Barrel a "zero discharge" company. That treatment system was not designed or used to handle waste from the 300-gallon (1,136-liter) tank where barrels are washed, however. The tank was supposed to be cleaned by evaporating the water from it, wiping out the remaining residue, sealing the residue in drums and then shipping it to another company for disposal. Prosecutors said the company lied about doing that. Instead, the indictment said, Louie Sanft directed employees to pump the wastewater down an a hidden drain that led to the sewer. An inspection in 2017 revealed irregularities in the company's handling of wastewater, and covert monitoring showed that the company continued to dump it down the sewer in 2018 and 2019, the indictment said. Meanwhile, Seattle Barrel filed reports with the county certifying that it had not dumped any wastewater. The indictment says Louie Sanft directed the conduct, advising employees to look out for regulators, and that John Sanft sometimes helped. Louie Sanft's attorney, Angelo Calfo, denied that. He said his client knew King County monitored the sewer line, so it would make no sense for him to direct an employee to dump the tank water there. Further, Calfo said, Louie Sanft paid the employee overtime to properly handle the wastewater because it was a daylong process to evaporate all the water. The only person who stood to benefit from using the sewer was the employee who got fired, the attorney said.

We had issues with the bay window that started a few months after it was installed. Signature was very responsive, and replaced the window free of charge. Unfortunately, the issue ended up being with the construction of the window itself, so the 2nd window also had issue. Replacement #3 was also free of charge, but we didn't figure out the cause of the issue until after window #3 was compromised as well. Signature replaced the window again, #4, but this time with a different brand of window, upgraded from the original - again, at no cost to us. So while our journey isn't typically "great", it's refreshing to work with a company that stands behind their work and products they sell. They were responsive every step of the way. I generally judge a company by how they react to problems, not just by the fact there were problems. And Signature earned my 5 stars. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

I got bids, and was the most impressed with Danny L at Signature Windows. We had a tight deadline because the home was going on the market and access to the window, especially in the rain, was really challenging. Meeting the deadline, and the safety of the installers, were non-negotiable. Danny came out the very next day to measure the Window From Hell and, not only did he give me the best price, but his company was the only one that had all the scaffolding equipment readily available at no extra charge. The window arrived sooner than expected, and installation was quickly scheduled to meet the deadline. Then we hit a snag: some epic rain made the cedar roof too slippery for safe conditions. Brent and his crew of expert (and very brave) installers rigged up a safe way to haul this brand-new Mother of ALL Windows up to the second floor and install it using very long ladders, secure scaffolding, and harnesses. I think we had 4 or 5 installers for this job. It took all day to get the old Window From Hell out and the new Mother of All Windows installed. But what a job! Perfect caulk lines, perfect cleaning of the glass, perfect clean-up of the job site, indoors and out. Job done ON TIME, SAFELY, and at an excellent price. If Signature can handle my Window From Hell, I am very confident they can install ordinary double-hung windows that exceed your expectations for quality, price, timeliness, and workmanship. I highly recommend Signature Windows.
