I got bids, and was the most impressed with Danny L at Signature Windows. We had a tight deadline because the home was going on the market and access to the window, especially in the rain, was really challenging. Meeting the deadline, and the safety of the installers, were non-negotiable. Danny came out the very next day to measure the Window From Hell and, not only did he give me the best price, but his company was the only one that had all the scaffolding equipment readily available at no extra charge. The window arrived sooner than expected, and installation was quickly scheduled to meet the deadline. Then we hit a snag: some epic rain made the cedar roof too slippery for safe conditions. Brent and his crew of expert (and very brave) installers rigged up a safe way to haul this brand-new Mother of ALL Windows up to the second floor and install it using very long ladders, secure scaffolding, and harnesses. I think we had 4 or 5 installers for this job. It took all day to get the old Window From Hell out and the new Mother of All Windows installed. But what a job! Perfect caulk lines, perfect cleaning of the glass, perfect clean-up of the job site, indoors and out. Job done ON TIME, SAFELY, and at an excellent price. If Signature can handle my Window From Hell, I am very confident they can install ordinary double-hung windows that exceed your expectations for quality, price, timeliness, and workmanship. I highly recommend Signature Windows.

The manager, German, came by the week before to scout the location and ensure they had the right equipment to replace a specific window four stories high. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend these guys, especially German, Josue and Emilio.

I ordered a single sliding glass door, and it took approximately 178 days--nearly six months--to have it correctly installed. The original installation included the wrong door, and the installers also damaged the fixed panel. What made the experience even more frustrating was the repeated failure to honor scheduled appointments. Multiple times, the company scheduled and confirmed service visits, only to never show up or communicate that they weren't coming. Each time, I had to move furniture, remove window coverings, clear access to the door, and rearrange my schedule, only to do it all over again for the next appointment. This level of service is simply unacceptable. If you're looking for Milgard products, I would recommend Sound View Windows or Lundgren Enterprises instead. Based on my experience, they offer much better customer service, often at the same or even a lower price.

The Rheem estimate from the big box store was ridiculous; the teaser price went up by 50% once they actually itemized the install. Emerald City's came in comparable to our usual plumber, but with the added benefit of getting another Rheem instead of a different brand and adding an automatic shut-off in case of leaks. Emerald City partners with McClendon Home Services for the water heater installs. Jesse and Aaron were on time and professional. Jesse checked our meter at the street and explained why we didn't need an expansion tank and, in fact, why having one could unnecessarily increase our water bill. We now have a 10-year parts-and-labor warranty and peace of mind. We also got an estimate for windows, but unfortunately Emerald City doesn't currently provide exterior painting services. We still might loop back with them in the future for first-floor windows where we could paint the trim ourselves. Overall, we're happy with the communication, customer service, and value.

The installers, Tipton and Nelson, were great to work with. They kept us well informed on their arrival times and their progress during the installation. They did an excellent job. The Milgard windows look great and the installers attention to detail was welcomed. They cleaned up after their work and left our house looking great with new windows. I highly recommend Emerald City Energy.

You're there asking b/c you don't know how to fix it yourself and they have the knowledge to help you. You say something like: "I have 3 doors that need to be replaced and I need help getting started." Then you get a blank stare back at you. ... ... ... maybe he's waiting for something else? More words from me? Finally he says "I can't help you with that limited amount of information." And then he's done. That's it. Suddenly you realize you're too stupid to be engaging with such an expert in this field. Maybe I was arrogant to even think this place (called Seattle's Doorhouse" was the correct spot to start my door journey. "That guy", the "door expert", wanted me to know it, too. He rattled off the info that I would need to bring in with me to avoid 1) Wasting his time, 2) Broadcasting how "door stupid" I am, and 3) Be able to write them a fat check. I would need door measurements and wall thickness numbers. (Awesome, I can get those!) The tone ion his voice was, however, the verbal equivalent to an eye roll when he quickly listed a dozen numbers toward me: 60by35by120$13575x130x55$250. I think he was throwing me a bone to get me out the door with some numbers at high speed. It worked. I couldn't get out of there quick enough. And it's because of 3 things: 1) I don't know doors like "that guy" knows doors 2) I'm an idiot in general 3) I'm an expert at wasting the time of other experts.

We suspected this would be an expensive project, so for years, we just put it off. Finally, last year we decided to get it done. In addition to the closet doors, we also replaced 5 interior doors for "free" (I say "free" because there were other costs associated with the interior doors). Yes, this was an expensive project--there's no sugarcoating that. BUT, it was worth it. Someone comes out for initial measurements. Then, you go to the showroom to pick your doors, and get a breakdown in pricing. The cost of the doors adds up quickly (e.g. knobs, installation cost, etc.). But, they're not trying to pressure you into anything. Once you place the order, it takes several weeks for the doors to come. In the meantime, someone comes back out to do more precise measurements. The install took a full day and a couple of hours the next day. After watching them work through some challenges with the install (e.g., crooked walls), I began to understand why it costs so much. I mean, I don't think we would've gotten close to the same results going with a big box hardware store. It's been about a year, and our doors still look great. We just wish we would've tackled this project sooner!

Second, they are balanced, and open and close smoothly. And third, and perhaps most importantly, the bifold doors aren't falling off the tracks anymore. Replacing the hardware was also a huge improvement, with levers that are easier to use. Eric and his team did such a great job with installation, and I really appreciated all of the suggestions. Several of the door frames weren't standard, and rather than ordering custom doors, Eric suggested reframing the opening, which saved us a lot of money. Another closet wasn't the standard depth, and Eric designed a closet with built-in shelves that work perfectly for the space and for storage. I couldn't be happier with the work, and I highly recommend Seattle Doors & Closets.

The door arrived with the painted frame and Jack took it to the vendor to have it stained for us. In the mean time, we searched for a paint that matched the door. When Jack brought the door back to us, the stain was too light. Not Jack's fault, but the staining vendor's. Jack went to bat for us and arranged to have the door restained. He even picked the door up at our house, again, and took it to the strainer. The stain was finally the right shade, and Jack brought the door back to us. He was always very gracious about having to make several trips. Ian did the door installation, and he did an amazing job, considering out house is 47 years old, and nothing in our house is plumb or level. The new door looks beautiful, and we couldn't be happier! I specifically asked if there were any additional costs, materials, delivery, anything, and he said no, everything was included except staining & sales tax. I got another quote, which was slightly less than his price, but given that he was recommended by Frank, I choose to work with him. When the door arrived he quoted me 4-6 weeks to install the door, I kindly thanked his time and said I would rather work with someone else as I would like get my door sooner than later. He said he can do it sooner and sent the door for staining. After the install, he handed me an invoice for $3,600 plus tax. When I questioned it, his story kept changing: * First he said it was for extra materials and delivery, the same things he told me were included. * Then he stated that the trim was so expensive and that he had to go get it. * Then he claimed staining alone was $1,800. I called the staining company directly. The actual cost was $900. At that point he continued being evasive and aggressive. He eventually offered a $400 discount off his inflated invoice. Needing the project done, hoping that I never have to deal with him, I paid $3,200 and moved on. We agreed on $2,500. I paid $3,200. The difference was built on lies. Avoid.

Unfortunately, everything went downhill after the installation began. The door arrived with a broken pane, gouges, peeling primer, and large globs of adhesive in all four corners of each of the 35 divided-light panes, which would make painting the door extremely difficult. The installation itself was equally disappointing. Throughout the day, I raised concerns about a number of issues, including a bouncy threshold (part of it appeared to be plastic), poorly finished interior trim, damage to my cedar porch floor, a crookedly installed handset, and exterior trim that was uneven in width despite originally being a consistent 4 inches. The installer placed a 6'9" 5x1 cedar trim piece on top of the side trim without securing it, and it fell from a height directly on my head, leaving me with pain, dizziness, and a large bump for 2 weeks. By 6:00 p.m., I asked the installer to stop. The exterior trim was still unfinished, there were gaps of at least 1/4 inch in the interior trim, the door sweep was loose, and blown-in insulation was falling from the gap in top trim, and a large piece of plaster came off from trying to place the door in place. The interior trim had been attached to my lath-and-plaster walls with what appeared to be brad nails, which did not seem adequate to securely hold the trim. I could easily move the trim after it was installed. The next day, Rob, the installation manager, came to inspect the work and took photos. I explained everything in this review above to him. That was two weeks ago. Since then, I have been unable to get any meaningful update despite multiple attempts to contact the company. I emailed and texted the owner without a response, emailed the operations address, and still couldn't get either a response or Rob's direct contact information. I was also told I would receive a call today, but no one reached out. At this point, I'm still waiting to hear what the plan is to correct these issues. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. For a project of this cost, I expected much better workmanship, communication, and follow-through. UPDATE 7/14/2026: I finally received an email from "Operations" requesting my availability for an onsite inspection of the door with the local vendor. Unfortunately, I am still unable to communicate directly with Rob, the operations manager, or the owner of the company. Instead, all communication continues to go through the administrative staff. Initially, the emails were signed with the administrator's name, but they are now simply signed "Operations." I also received emails on a Sunday evening outside of normal business hours. Rather than communicating with me directly, management continues to rely on administrative staff as the intermediary. I find this frustrating because it makes resolving the issue more difficult and leaves me without direct communication from the people responsible for handling my concerns. At this point, I remain disappointed with how this situation has been handled. I hope the onsite inspection finally leads to a resolution.
