Tasty Korean and Japanese meat, seafood & also Poke bowls. Priced for a medium ranged buyer packed with a lot of flavour and generous proportions.

    Menu

Arrived about 15 minutes before their posted closing time. The server was kind enough to fire up the grill after telling me he had already shut it down. Had the Korean beef bowl on his recommendation. Delish despite the beef being a bit chewy. Otherwise the veggies were fresh, rice and sunny side egg cooked perfectly.

Great location. Parkade right next door & also 2hr meter parking on the street. Restaurant is clean & comfortable. Food is fantastic. I had the jumping shrimp & was full after. Basically it's a sushi roll that is not cut into small pieces, wrapped in paper so you can hold it. Mix your Wasabi & soya sauce and pour on with every bite!! The also have rice bowls which looked amazing!! If you're going for lunch get there just before noon as it was busy. The line was to the door. But seemed to move fairly quickly.

Chosabi burrito - tuna, salmon, crabmeat, cucumber, tempura flakes, spicy aioli, avocado, sushi rice and soy sauce $14

Cho Venevongsa, owner of the Wasabi group of high-end sushi restaurants has opened up this casual Asian eatery that serves up sushi burritos, Vietnamese style banh mi sandwiches and rice bowls. There's a bunch of Asian style foods and some fusion stuff going on and it's all pretty good. This place opened in the new year and is located in the Exchange District on King Street with neighbours such as Bronuts and King + Bannatyne. Funny how this parkade is now housing three of the trendiest eateries in this area. The sushi burrito is a cute concept. I mean they maybe the first to create that and you kind of wonder why no one has made a really giant maki roll. Why go dainty and order 2-4 maki rolls for lunch when you can eat a burrito sized one for $12-$14. I had the chosabi burrito ($14) tuna, salmon, crabmeat, tempura flakes, spicy aioli, avocado, sushi rice and soy sauce. $14 felt kinda steep but no one said sushi is cheap and it was worth it for the ingredients and portion size. This burrito can easily be shared - I ate half and was pretty full. I didn't add any of the soy sauce or wasabi given to me as the burrito had enough flavour in of itself. It's a mega maki and pretty good! Also tried the banh mi which is a Vietnamese style sandwich though they had other fusion flavours, I went with the original ($8.50) - Vietnamese cold cuts, pate, pickled vegetables, cilantro, cucumber, mayo. You can ask to make it spicy so it's more close to the authentic banh mi. The sandwich was a good portion and the taste was almost there if you want to compare it to the real deal. The banh mi typically has the balance of sweet, savoury, spicy, sour but this one was pretty mild on all fronts - maybe it needed more oomph from some more spicy, a stronger pate or the pickled vegetables. But overall decent. They also have some to-go boxes like sashimi and some salads in the fridge. The space has an industrial look to it but with lots of brightness from the mural and the pretty spring flowers on the communal table. Service is extremely friendly and food service was very prompt at lunch. I think their overall service despite it's casual nature is way better than the sit down restaurants which can be very hit and miss. Only thing that would make this place even better would be having the ability to order a half burrito (or a smaller version) and then add some sashimi or something on the side. Open 10:30 am to 8 pm Mon to Sat.

Prior to coming here, I've been following them on Instagram and was really intrigued about their unique menu, and not your typical Asian food. First time going here yesterday. Place has a classy-feeling to it and atmosphere was comfortable. Me and my friend ordered: - The Original Banh Mi (Vietnamese Cold Cuts Sandwich): Sandwich was $8 and I found it expensive for a banh mi. The whole sandwich tasted bland and bread was kinda dry. The meat were lacking in flavour. I usually check what's inside my Banh Mi when I eat and Chosabi's banh mi only had very little mayonnaise and pate. The sandwich could also use more pickled vegetables. I would say it didn't taste like a banh mi to me at all. I could get bigger and better banh mi than this for less than $4 at Vietnamese places in Sargent or Ellice. - Vietnamese Style Iced Coffee It's not really a Vietnamese iced coffee as they used espresso beans and not Vietnamese coffee. I didn't expect much because I knew it's just a "Vietnamese style" coffee (I asked on their Instagram if they use Vietnamese coffee and they replied to me saying they're just using espresso beans). Didn't finish the whole drink as I found it bitter (could have use a little bit more condensed milk). I usually like the bitterness of authentic Vietnamese iced coffee but for this one, it just didn't work for me. - Pacman Rice Bowl (Filipino Sausage longganisa & cured pork tocino, fried egg, mixed veggies on top of white rice) I found this dish good. The longganisa (Filipino sausage) tasted really authentic like the ones you can buy from Filipino/Asian stores and it was just cook perfectly. The cured pork (tocino) though was just okay, nothing special. The rice wasn't your ordinary Asian rice but it's good and kinda sticky. But for $12, I would say it's expensive because the serving was small. - Thai Iced Tea I loveeeeeeeee their thai ice tea! I was kinda scared to order it at first because the thai iced tea I usually drink is mixed with milk/cream, but this one it's just brewed thai tea with lemon juice. It's so refreshing and it's not that sweet, has a little bit of tangy taste because of the lemon juice and it goes perfectly with the flavour of thai tea. Would definitely get this again! Can imagine drinking this during summer! - Matcha Latte It was good but nothing special. But you can really taste the bitterness of the green tea. Their sushi burrito sounds interesting but I'm not a big sushi fan and I think I wouldn't be able to finish the whole thing if I order it.  I would recommend this to those who would like to explore and try out new things and doesn't really care for the price as some of their menu can be a little bit expensive.

Poke bowl and Ramen were both really good. Pretty quick service. Good quality/not skimping the sauce.

    Jumping shrimp!

Yummy place for sushi burritos. Had the jumping shrimp. Taste was similar to shrimp tempura california hybrid roll with an extra bit of sweetness from mango. Overall taste was great. Otherwise has cool decor, Asian drinks and snacks. Portion sizes and prices were as expected.

I don't remember what these were, sorry! Lol but this is how their presentation is.

The thought of sushi being a burrito sounds interesting because why not eat your sushi in really big servings, right? Burritos are so easy to eat because it is contained in a wrap and all you have to do is just take a bite, lol, so it's really cool. What I don't like about it is that it is so basic and I find that I'm paying not for the quality but for the idea of a sushi in a burrito. Period. The sushi part of it is not as satisfying as a real burrito cause you get more rice than the "good stuff". I would go back because it's such a cool food invention but not when I'm craving for s

I loved their King St. Chicken burrito! Miso soup was also good! They have iced thai tea which could have been better if they put milk in it. Will definitely try the Jumping shrimp the next time I drop by.

We ordered the three main dishes that they currently offered. All three dishes were good, but my favourite was the signature hellomen due to the unique shrimp based broth. However, we did find it needed a bit of salt to enhance the flavours, otherwise, it would have been perfect. My second favourite was the HK style char siu stirred noodles, which had great flavour and the char siu tasted good. Would have loved for it to have more green onions though. I also really enjoyed the HK style milk tea. It tasted just as how I remembered it when I was in HK before.

My friend ended up getting their Banza Beef Noodle Soup and Langya Potato, while I got the Tofu and Rice Noodle and Iced Coffee. Absolutely love the Tofu and Rice Noodle (with spice), noodles were soft and slippery to eat, there was meat on it I think but it wasn't listed on the description and I couldn't tell if it was beef or pork. Warning, it was extremely spicy for me and I have moderate spice tolerance, but the soft tofu alleviated the spice and I was able to finish my dish. The hint of nuttiness from the walnut was a great addition to the dish and made it more interesting to eat since it had that crunch while all the other ingredients had softer and chewier texture. Would definitely recommend this place especially if you just need a quick meal!

As other reviews suggest, it's definitely a hole-in-the-wall establishment, and it's reflected by the relatively low prices for this place. My party of 8 tried a wide range of dim sum (some people I was with were having dim sum for the first time), including shrimp dumpling, pork dumpling, beef omasum, sticky rice, curry squid, eggplant, pork noodle rolls, shrimp noodle rolls, and golden dumpling buns. We also had two noodle plates: Singapore Noodle and Beef and Rice Noodle. The noodle rolls were really good, as well as all the dumplings and buns. Everything else was just okay, but for the price I can't really complain. Their curry squids are miniscule in size though, as well as their sticky rice...something to keep in mind if you're considering those two items. Service was excellent. Rushed, but excellent. The employees will attend to only if you wave them down, so don't expect them to just come over. Asian standards here. Nonetheless, Noodle Express does a decent job for dim sum at an excellent price. It won't get the 4-star approval for me as it's a case of "you get what you paid for", but it works for the clientele here.
