You have to go to a lower level to get into the restaurant so I'm not sure it's good for the mobility impaired. It gets very busy around peak times so I'd recommend going off peak. We knew Clementine is popular and with no reservations to be had, we needed to get there early if we wanted to be seated right away. As we cruised past looking for a parking spot, there were only two people lingering near the door. By the time we circled pack around, the line was reaching down the street. The sight filled us with determination, and we took up a post at the rear. Happily, we were able to be seated right away at the bar even with our odd group size of 5. The decor inside is eclectic but considered, and despite the rush of diners, food came out fairly quickly once we had all finally made up our minds on what to order. The food itself was absolutely stellar, especially for the price. The fried chicken was perhaps the best I'd ever had, and I can't get over the spicy cucumbers. I'm usually skeptical of foams, but the peanut lime foam on this dish was one of the few I thought genuinely improved the experience. The chai latte was the best we've tasted in a long time, and my alcoholic drink was tasty as well. Everything at Clementine just feels polished and perfected down to the last brunchy bit. If you take a stroll down Princess Street in Winnipeg don't blink or you may just miss Clementine Cafe and they're not something you want to miss. There's an eclectic vibe in a small space and it was crowded the whole time we were there. The reason is the amazing food. We had brunch there on a Sunday morning. They don't take reservations, but it's worth the wait. Their matcha lattes are beautiful and tasty. If you're feeling adventurous you can even order your cappuccino with maple whiskey. There were so tasty options on the menu. I went with the Braised Bacon Benedict (Cider Hollandaise, Dill, Poached Eggs, Black Pepper Biscuit). I've never had dill on my eggs Benedict and it kicked it up a notch. I was craving it for days after. The braised bacon was also delicious. It was so filling. I also had the Yogurt Panna Cotta, with Kiwi, Freeze Dried Raspberry, Hemp Hearts, and Green Granita. It was so good. Everything on the menu is exceptional with standouts being the Buttermilk Fried Chicken (a must-try!), the Trout, the Benedict and the pannacotta. They serve fresh squeezed orange juice which I love. This adorable little place has great ambiance, fast service and wonderful fresh food. We came right at opening and got a table immediately. We already knew what we wanted to ordered quickly and the food came out very fast! I had the waffle and a side of potatoes. It has been near the top of my want-to-visit list in Winnipeg for the longest time, and with finally working close to the Exchange District, I was able to have takeout from here. The chicken was so crunchy, flavorful, juicy/tender and cooked to perfection. It was served on a fresh, house made, Texas style toast with a dill spread. The side of delectable sweet pickled onions was a perfect balance to the savory goodness of this dish. The coffee was hot and deliciously strong (the way I love it). The space itself is in a lower level of a very charming, historical brick building. very European with exposed brick, the kitchen area is separated by a glass partition in full view and delight of the guests. I had a chance to visit Clementine when in Winnipeg. This is a place that came up in almost every google search as a great place to try and so I knew I had to before I left. This place was right around the corner where I was living and is a small restaurant located in a basement. Its so cute I wish I ate there, but instead we ended up getting take-out. I ended up getting the pork belly benedict which was delicious. Thick pieces of pork belly with a runny egg on a biscuit - this was delicious! My boyfriend ended up getting the turkish eggs which came with eggs, hummus, sourdough bread & these sauce things that each egg was dipped in. This is a popular dish and was tasty. Overall good flavor, my only qualm is for the price point the portions are realllly tiny. Definitely can increase quantity or atleast include some potatoes or something on the side. We each ordered an entree (Porridge, Fried chicken toast, Mushroom Toast, Benedict) and 4 sides to share (Fried potatoes, Chia seed pudding, Kale salad, Bacon). Bacon slices are super thick and worth the $5. Overall, everything was absolutely delicious. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu! As an added plus, drip coffee is bottomless! Roasted Mushroom Toast: Super fresh and creamy. All around amazing flavors. Toast was still crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Highly recommend this dish! Mine disappeared in seconds. Chia Seed Pudding: I didn't taste any banana and the granola tasted like wheat rice crispies. BUT the chia seed pudding was still very delicious because of the mango jelly sandwiched between the granola and pudding. It took about 30-40 minutes for our food to arrive, but other than that food was out of this world! Left the restaurant feeling not overly full and completely satisfied. This is my favorite brunch place in Winnipeg. I like lists so I will try to split my review as such. Pros: -Food: Super tasty, changes regularly, has innovative dishes and everything goes together well. This is a shared plate type restaurant, but you can definitely get away with ordering your own dish or two. The prices are pretty resonable for the quality of the food. They are also incredible when it comes to dietary restrictions. I'm vegan and have never had issues getting something altered to accommodate my needs. I have heard the same from people needing gluten free items. -Drinks: Their coffee is delicious. Lattes are always well made. I also love their cocktails or non alcoholic options. They have unique mimosa flavors pretty often. -Seating: No reservations, but they have a queue system in place where you can leave your name and number to wait while a table frees up. Waits can be long at peak times (9am-12pm), but the area is great to walk around and there are nearby coffee shops. -Decor: Really charming, close knit and trendy. Even though it is in a basement, the lighting is well placed. Cons: -Accessibility: The one problem is that this restaurant is NOT ACCESSIBLE to people with mobility issues. It is down a flight of stairs. It is a pretty big con, but otherwise it is an amazing restaurant. If you can order food to deliver it is worthwhile. read more

I decided to visit Clementine on my visit to Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was an amazing breakfast and brunch restaurant. One of the most famous items they have here is Fried Chicken on Toast. In fact, not only are they generally known for it, but there were people waiting in line to get into the restaurant talking about this menu item. Fried Chicken on Toast came with Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Dill Ranch, Maple Calypso, Pickles, and Sourdough Toast. The chicken was fresh, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and very nicely cooked. The flavour of the fried chicken was very unique, and absolutely delicious. It had a hint of spice and a decent amount of sweetness in the buttermilk batter which made it quite flavourful. The sourdough toast with maple calypso and dill ranch added a hint of sourness and some creaminess. The toast with maple calypso and dill ranch and the buttermilk chicken with sweetness and a hint of spice was just a fantastic combination of ingredients and flavours that made this dish absolutely outstanding! This is one of the best fried chicken dishes I've ever had. I also had a side of Fried Potatoes which came with Chickpea Mayo, Bravas Sauce, and Green Onion. The potatoes were fresh and crispy and the sauces combined with the potatoes were absolutely delicious. I also enjoyed the cappuccino. The staff were very friendly and the service was perfect.
