My boyfriend and I went to have brunch at Modern Electric Lunch before we went to the airport. It was raining heavily but we walked from our hotel to this brunch place as we wanted to experience brunch one more time before we left. It was quite empty when we got there, which was a surprise as this place is quite good, but we went first thing in the morning so it was understandable. Perhaps it was the rain outside, but this brunch place felt very chill and peaceful. Our server was helpful and took our order quickly. We started with drinks. I got an iced tea (that I no longer see in the current menu) and my boyfriend got a matcha with strawberry milk. I thought my tea was pretty good, although it was a tad too subtle for me. I could taste hints of peach but not much else. My boyfriend liked his matcha drink and thought it was one of the better matchas he's had in our short Winnipeg trip (I would agree). Our mains came quickly. He ordered the chiquilas (and he ordered it with chicken) and he really liked it. I had a bite as well and it was a nice interesting flavour. I was craving bacon and eggs so I ordered the classic breakfast. It was delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was good and crispy. I added sausages on the side and I'm glad I did. Overall, this is a great place to have brunch. They have cocktails as well as a diverse drink selection. They have some interesting stuff on the menu, such as the Palestinian breakfast, which I am curious to try if I ever come back. read more

We arrived 10 minutes before opening on Saturday morning, and there was already a small queue. It's easy to see why this place is so popular. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, but the restaurant is so cozy and chic! We loved sitting at the window, sipping on coffee, and enjoying breakfast. Service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend the Palestinian Breakfast, but it's one of those menus where you can't really go wrong. read more

9:10 am I'm writing this review live. I walk in to this place sat at the I'm the out of town guy table for one. Clean bright near the window across from the bar. I was I was seated immediately the server then brought a bottle of water from an old tequila bottle. It looks like their glassware short the water tasted clean and refreshing. 9:15: am I just ordered a vanilla latte and I would be lying if I didn't say this was the best tasting perfect temperature vanilla latte I ever had in my entire life unbelievable. The perfect cup as well. This is a trendy breakfast at restaurant. Nice crowd and perfect music. 9:22 am I ordered the chorizo hash. Now I'm waiting with excitement while I wait for my food. This place is now packed people have started to line up. There's takeout here BTW. The latte has made me so happy just ordered another one at 9:27 am. 9:31 am the Hash has arrived and OMG this was the best tasting meal breakfast I've had since being in Winnipeg for the last month. Now I'm just waiting for my latte and for the Bill. I will tell you come early get a table but it's well worth the wait. The vibe is incredible. The staff so lovely and kind and hip. They told me how it used to be a lunch spot called modern electric lunch and they have super cool receipts from the 1920s framed on the wall. Recommend checking that out! I came in 11:12 am, sat down, and waited for my friend for 20 minutes. They were very polite to me. We stayed for over 1h30m. I noticed they advise against it, but they gave us no trouble at all, and I thank them for being so kind towards us. I enjoyed their breakfast sandwich. The waitresses were friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the vegan breakfast sandwich and their vegan bacon was delicious! So were the vegan eggs. I would have ordered a drink but I wasn't thirsty after drinking the water they provided me. It came in a cool glass bottle with their logo and it quenched my thirst. Water is very good for the body! I've heard people in the past, complain about the high prices here but honestly they were average and decent. I'd say the prices are affordable. I recommend this place to everyone. read more

Absolutely loved this lunch. I walked in at noon and requested the club sandwich with a side salad to go. They had it ready in less then 15 min. Once I was able to open it and take a look I was very impressed. The sandwich held well together and just had a ton of great flavours blending together. (I could have done without the tomato confit, but that's my own issue to deal with). The kale Caesar salad was quite large once it was taken out of the container. The chicken club and coffee were yummy! Love the relaxed atmosphere and the service was fast and friendly.
