I'm convinced I probably just came here on a bad day last time I gave this place two stars. The food is still just as incredible and the service is friendly and decently quick. Still not giving this place five stars because parking is a major issue to get to this location, but then again, it's Downtown Winnipeg, so it's kind of to be expected. Great job on redeeming yourself, Stella's!

My boyfriend and I went to have brunch at Modern Electric Lunch before we went to the airport. It…read morewas raining heavily but we walked from our hotel to this brunch place as we wanted to experience brunch one more time before we left. It was quite empty when we got there, which was a surprise as this place is quite good, but we went first thing in the morning so it was understandable. Perhaps it was the rain outside, but this brunch place felt very chill and peaceful. Our server was helpful and took our order quickly. We started with drinks. I got an iced tea (that I no longer see in the current menu) and my boyfriend got a matcha with strawberry milk. I thought my tea was pretty good, although it was a tad too subtle for me. I could taste hints of peach but not much else. My boyfriend liked his matcha drink and thought it was one of the better matchas he's had in our short Winnipeg trip (I would agree). Our mains came quickly. He ordered the chiquilas (and he ordered it with chicken) and he really liked it. I had a bite as well and it was a nice interesting flavour. I was craving bacon and eggs so I ordered the classic breakfast. It was delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was good and crispy. I added sausages on the side and I'm glad I did. Overall, this is a great place to have brunch. They have cocktails as well as a diverse drink selection. They have some interesting stuff on the menu, such as the Palestinian breakfast, which I am curious to try if I ever come back.

I tried the Vegetarian skillet and asked for avocados to be added. I really love how the pan comes with padded silicone material around it so that you can't accidentally burn yourself by touching the hot surface of it. The proportions are generous! That also looked enticing! The waitresses were nice and the ambiance is casual and upbeat.

They don't punch in my order, just put my cash straight into the tip jar. Several times they've forgotten to make my hotdog, cause there's no ticket and have left me waiting, serving other customers that arrive after me but not recognizing that I'm still sitting there! And when I finally have to step up and point out that I'm still waiting, I'm the asshole! I'm the one being rude or making a scene! I just wanted what I paid for. I show up almost everyday, I'm polite, I pay cash, I don't cause problems while I'm waiting, I tip, I smile, I treat others with respect.... It would be nice to get some in return. And now, when I don't show up again, there's no way for you to make things better with me, but maybe, reading this, you'll learn to cherish your regulars, respect the peop!e who show up in your business and respect you. I'm gonna miss those foot long bacon and cheese hotdogs, with the fresh onions, chili and mustard! Mmmmmm. I regret feeling like I have to say these words but like I said, this wasn't the first time. On good days their sandwiches are delicious. They like locals and other Canadians, I would say they are good for friend groups but I don't think this is a place for tourists. Overall I kind of like this place but it's seen better days. I hope more business and success helps.

One day I went into this place and ordered a sandwich. The person preparing it washed her hands and…read moreput plastic gloves on. So far so good. Next, after handling the bread and other ingredients with her gloved hands, she began to handle the uncooked bacon that was ultimately going to go on my sandwich, also using the same gloves. She was preparing to quickly microwave the bacon before placing it on the sandwich. I pointed out to her that she should not be handling the bacon right out of its package with the same gloves that she was using to touch all the other ingredients. Instead of correcting course, by apologizing, switching gloves, or doing something else reasonable, this food handler began to strongly argue with me that the bacon was "already cooked." Why the use of the microwave then? Was it just to warm up the bacon? I did my research online. Packaged bacon is "cured", which means that it is prepared with salt and nitrates to inhibit the growth of bacteria. However, uncooked bacon, especially if it has been left open and unthawed for sometime, can still harbour bacteria and cause food poisoning. So no, I do not want someone handling uncooked bacon with the same gloves that they use to handle all the other ingredients. I especially do not want someone arguing with me about this!
