I was delightfully surprised when my Spinach and cheese pie came out, it was the size of a large plate! Bigger than most pizza slices! The table service was good too, they brought the food right to our table once it was cooked. The Baba Ganesh was very sweet, maybe a bit too sweet, but I dipped my spinach and cheese pie in it and then it was such a delicious blend of creamy! Cheesy and creamy goes well together. This place has plenty of dishes to choose from. The wall is plastered with pictures and a number beside it to help you order. The restaurant itself is not very bright inside, there's a few tables inside but it was full at lunch time. Take out works as the food holds up well to travel. The service is super friendly and warm. I ordered the beef shawarma platter with tabouli salad and hummus and pita for about $10 after tax. It's a massive lunch but I managed to finish the entire plate in 20 minute intervals. The meat was a bit dried out, guess it was roasting a little too long. And I didn't find the meat to be as flavourful as I had hoped. But it was still good. I LOVED the tabouli - I'd say the best one I've ever had. It is packed with flavours and the citrus helps cut out the heaviness of the meat and hummus. I'd go back and just order a plate of the tabouli. The hummus was garlicky and pureed very smoothly. I got two big pieces of pita bread to enjoy all that hummus. The kebab platter came with 6 kebabs, rice, tabouli, hummus and 2 pieces of pita bread. The rice is deliciously flavoured and the kebabs were a tad dry but had great flavour to it. I would've liked some hot sauce to go with it, it was take out so I added some sriracha from home which made it even more delicious! I like their falafels as well as it was a very generous sized ball (a little smaller than a baseball). Very light inside. The spinach pie is a pretty big enclosed pita with spinach and cheese inside for $3. Delicious and not greasy at all. The only con if you're not dining in, is finding parking on Ellice Ave during lunch time. Otherwise, great place for a very satisfying meal. read more

The food is reliably tasty and it comes in good time. For a while I was worried that it had closed, but I guess those rumours were wrong because it looks just like it always has: the same posters, the same staff, and the same wall of photos that replace a menu. I usually order meal #29 - the Falafel Plate, but I have also ordered: -Meal #26: Taboli Salad -Meal#27: Fatoush Salad -Meal#36: Falafel Sandwich -Meal#42: Tomato Pie -Combo#19: Grape Leaf Rolls, Taboli Salad, Hummos, and Pita Bread -Combo#20: Falafel, Taboli Salad, Hummos, and Pita Bread French fries They are all very good. I don't know if the earthy flavours are standard with Lebanese food, but they are a pleasant addition to the meal as a whole. The main contributors to this flavour are sesame seeds and turnip pickles. I can't say turnip pickles are my favourite, but it is nice that they haven't totally conformed to western tastes. Flavours you aren't familiar with can be one of the great things about eating food from a different culture. The taboli and fatoush salads are very good. There is a lot of lemon and a lot of parsley, which is everything that I want from those dishes. The falafels are also very well made: they are slightly crumbly but they stay together, they are cooked so that they don't have a lot of hard bits, and they aren't tough. The French fries are tasty but there is way way way too much seasoning salt on them for my salt-phobic taste buds. Other winners on this menu include the tomato pie, which is basically as good as any pizza I have ever ordered! The grape leaf rolls are also fabulous. read more

Ive been here twice and both times I've really enjoyed the food. Royal Sandwich ($4.99) is a delicious combination of kebab and tabbouleh in a pita. The tabbouleh was the dominant flavour and texture in the sandwich and it was excellent. The zatar ($3.00) was okay - it tasted delicious but the texture of the pita was a little bit dry and chewy around the edges. But oh, the spinach and cheese pie! I'm a little obsessed with their spinach & cheese pies ($3.00). It's spinach & cheese folded up in a pita and it so simple but so amazingly delicious. They're generous with the fillings and the pita is hot and soft and I'm drooling just thinking of it right now. I'm not sure if it's the spinach or the cheese or something else that they put into it, but it has a very strong flavour with a bit of tartness to it so that the taste really fills up your whole mouth. For $3 a piece these are such an awesome deal and one is almost enough to fill me up. I wish I was eating one now. I ordered the fries and two samosa platter ($4.99) for my partner. I didn't get to try the samosas, which are quite a bit smaller than the ones from Rasoi down the block, but he said they were good. I helped him out with the fries which were really delicious and had the skins on. The staff is really pleasant and friendly and they get your food to you quickly. They have a small, cramped parking lot around back, with access off Maryland. It can be a bit tight to get in and out of but it beats street parking at rush hour. read more

I was so happy happy when I found out that a shawarma place opened up in Winnipeg. I got hooked on them when we were in London, ON. We have sampled a lot of the items on the menu and haven't had a real dud yet. The spinach pies as reviewed by the others are tasty and not greasy. They also reheat really well. The tomato pies and zatar are also great cheap options. The fries are claimed to be the best in the city. I might not go as far as that but they are pretty damn tasty and you get a healthy portion. They are nice and thick and have the potato skins on them. You also can't beat either the whole or half roasted chicken for the taste and price. I always get the beef shawarma. It is nicely spiced and tender. I usually ask for parsley instead of the lettuce which makes this an especially nice and healthy treat. For six bucks, it's nicer than a subway. Since there are still no really awesome Mexican burrito joints in the city, this has become my consolation prize. The service is fast, people are very friendly and are really good at remembering your special "needs" and orders. Everything always tastes fresh. I didn't mind the decor. It's in the inner city, the food is relatively cheap, and it gives you the feel of being in the third world. It's clean.I come for the food and not the atmosphere. read more

Shawarma Time is not my favourite shawarma place... I was greeted by super friendly employees and I felt pretty welcomed here. Coming in, one of the first things I noticed was the meat. It looked somewhat dry, wasn't being heated and just looked meh. I got number 29 which is pretty much mixed meats on rice. Just by looking at my plate I could tell the meat was dry, and after taking my first bit the texture of the meat was rough because it was so dry. Flavours were alright, nothing special. Both the rice and meat were neither flavourful or bland, it was just meh. Got the hummus cause I love hummus, and I was disappointed. Very oily and just meh. Pita bread was stretchy and a bit rough, so it was for sure old. Looking and trying my friends plate, the dish was about the same as mine in quality. Glad I tried it, but I probably won't be coming back to try anything else because I've had much better Shawarma at another place. read more

The "Falafel" wrap that was ordered by my coworker for our lunch meeting today literally only contained the crust from the outside of the falafel patty. There was no texture or consistency of chickpeas whatsoever. Literally just the crumbled oily breading. Disappointed to say the least. read more

Didn't learn our lesson and we went back a second time and my husband and I got sick within a few hours of eating their chicken Shwarma. We have gone in the past many times with the previous owner where the shawarma meat was cut off a hot foil covered rotisserie and fried on the grill before assembly. My husband told the staff tonight that the last time we ate here we both felt really sick after eating their chicken shawarma and we didn't return for a year. We were craving shwarmA and thought we would try again. My husband saw three empty rotisserie racks and two plastic uncovered containers with beef and chicken on the side, We asked how long the two containers of meat had been out. The staff responded "only an hour" then said "no only a half hour" as the look on my husbands face dropped. We should have walked out then and there but we missed our old time shwarma. They screwed up our order and proceeded to make it in the most stale hard pita on the planet. Then we had to repeatedly ask the lady to grill the chicken- she wanted to microwave it to heat the meat and soften the pita! Gross! Then we waited for them while sitting at a half dirty table in an empty restaurant with six staff sitting in the back room. The last few times we have been there the place is going down hill like putty on the walls not painted and kinda dirty looking. The previous owner would be ashamed.
