I almost wish I could give them a 4.5 stars because I wish they had more vegetarian options meal wise but the customer service is excellent. They are really nice to people. I see them giving poor people freebies like a free can of soda once in awhile. That's why I chose to stop here a couple of times and when I bought the Falafel wrap and was able to customize it with lettuce and pink beets and onions and garlic sauce plus tzatziki sauce I was extremely happy and filled with gratitude and joy. I've been ordering here for the closer part of a decade, everything is consistent and satisfactory to a regulars expectations. Friendly and courteous service at the counter and at the table if need be. Their menu has variety though I'm only there for the wraps and occasional potatoes -I highly recommend btw, yum- but for those of whom have a more epicurean fascination, apposition is available. Ahh yes, consume to the reverberations of contemporary culture with a tad of mainstream. I've also met the Khan, all the charisma of a veggie somosa. The best kind in my opinion. Overpriced and sub-par. I don't eat shawarma very often, and so I can only compare this with what I've had before in other cities like Toronto and Ottawa. I ordered a large chicken shawarma. The ingredients weren't very fresh. Tabouleh was an extra $1 (which I had expected it to be included in the price I was paying). The whole wrap was cold as it was only left in the grill for a brief few seconds. This gets 2 stars for its location in the Exchange District of Winnipeg. read more

3.5/5 I'm not a shawarma connoisseur by any means, so I'll judge this restaurant by simply what I ordered and what it tasted like given the price factor. My friends encouraged me to try some shawarma, so I joined the clan and ended up dining here for lunch a couple of weekends ago. I ordered the beef shawarma wrap with tahini sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. It tasted quite good, though I wasn't completely blown away by it. The beef I had was quite dry, but the tahini sauce definitely made up for it. The ingredients were also plentiful, so even though it costed $6.49 + tax, it filled me up good for lunch. I might consider trying other items, although I would assume there are better shawarma places out there. read more

This review is based solely on the stand in the upper level of the Investors Group Stadium, and happened the day of the Banjo Bowl (Sept.7/14). I had the chicken shawarma, omitting onion and tomato, my boyfriend had the shawarma that contained each meat and falafel. We also purchased 2 drinks. It came to around 30 bucks (Mine was 13$, his was 15$ plus drinks). A note that they forgot to put falafel on his shawarma, which kind of sucked, but they were busy so I could see how they would forget. They only had tahini and hot sauce available, so we had both. The pickle was very good, the meat was tender and was the only thing with real flavour (though hard to find- there wasn't much) and the tahini was tasty. I would ask for extra hot sauce, as I found that it was soaked up by the bread and not all that hot. Overall it was not greatly flavourful, which is what I was hoping for. The chicken was minced, so there also wasn't much texture (although, there would be more with onion and tomato, I can admit) since the lettuce was also shredded. My boyfriend enjoyed his (scarfed it down in like 2 minutes) but we both agreed we have had better (Baraka, anyone?) and more authentic. I can buy the pita they used at Superstore..not a good sign IMO. Perhaps the in-store platters are better, or the quality is better at the store, rather than this little stand. But if I'm travelling across town for falafel, I'm not going here. read more

This place is good but not great for chicken shawarma. I have had better in the city as the chicken was a tad dry though not terrible. The flavours were very light and palatable for a main stream crowd; it reminds me a more ethnic version of Pita Pit. But what this place has going for it is Obby - he was at the cash register and was super hilarious and make a funny/dirty joke with my friend and I. It's good to add an option like this in the Exchange. read more

Anybody who ever had shawarma before in his life, Please DO NOT SET FOOT IN THIS RESTAURANT! Absolutely sub par and no standards, this is how quality interior design can confuse a customer to walk in to a bad restaurant: The service person behind the counter wiped our plates with her bare hands, not wearing gloves, not sanitary! The "Pita Bread" is a soft Mexican tortilla (what a joke!). We ordered the Shawarma Beef&Lamb Mix the meat was dry and chewy. The tabbouleh salad had a weird after taste that resembles a yogurt. The Hummus had a watery texture and no seasoning. There was no manager on site to report this issue but the rude service counter employee. We didn't finished our food and left with our Pepsi drinks to Johnnie G's across the street and got great service and amazing food. If you want to waste your money down the drain then go ahead and try Shawarma Khan, we are never coming back. read more

Great place, I work a block away and it is becoming one of my go to places. I am vegan and they were sampling a desert today and I asked if there was any dairy in it and the cashier looked at the line of food prep'ers and one answered "yes there is butter". They have a great atmosphere. By the way I got no problem with what is in the free sample I just want someone to know what is in it. Great value. read more

Obby - I hope I got this right, as I didn't see your restaurant listed. Let me start by saying this - I don't know much about shawarma. I've had friends who said it was like a gyro, but with a little twist. No. No it's not. I can't find a decent European style gyro anywhere in this city. That aside, there is very little the same about a traditional gyro and shawarma, aside from spit cooked meat and pitas. Today was my first shawarma. I ordered two beef and lamb, as did my wife. I was pleasantly surprised to see Obby himself working behind the counter, unlike some other athletes turned restauranteurs. His crew was professional, quick, and pleasant. The food was amazing. I've tasted anything like it - and my wife, who loves shawarma and used to eat it in Ottawa all the time, says it's even better than there. Been meaning to try this place for a while now and am I happy I did. Great place to grab a quick bite or even take your meal to go. I got the Beef and Lamb plate, the plates give you a lot more so you get to try a little bit of everything! The rice is enjoyable and not super heavy. The meat is flavourful, but not moist or juicy and a bit more on the dry side. I chose the Tabbouleh salad (parsley, bulgur wheat, red onions, cucumbers, tomatoes and spices), along with the beet and apple salad, a unique combination but works well. The hummus and tahini sauce were both delicious, very flavourful! The potatoes were lightly seasoned which was great, because everything else is full of flavour. My only complaint is that my food was barely warm and I ate it like 32 seconds after I got it. I for sure enjoy my food more when it's hot. Also, the hot sauce wasn't actually hot, so that was a bit disappointing, but other than that this is a great place! Staff is super friendly, it's in a great area of the city and of course the food is good! You just might want gum for after, cause the garlic tends to stay in your mouth. read more

For the price, which was $38 for two platters and two beverages, I have to say I was very disappointed when comparing with say, Pita Bakery. The rice was dry and crunchy from being on the hot table, the meat had been carved off the rotisserie and left in the hot table, so we had rare meat (weird for shawarma) that was also dried out. I would estimate that we had 2 oz of meat total, and we ordered the combination plates. They were little tiny chips of meat, not nice, moist, shaved slices. The hummus was okay, and the pita (half a pita, warmed up, but still not fresh) ran out well before the dip did. read more

I'm a shawarma junkie, and the chicken shawarma that Obby served up with a little extra hot sauce curbed my need. I'll be back many times.
