We came early in the morning so it was pretty quiet and not much people were around. Interior is very nice, liked that we can see some of the chefs working behind the counter so that we were able to watch some of them prepare meals. Service was also quite fast. Menu had a decent selection, from ramen to donburi bowls, and quite a few options for appetizers, sushi rolls, and sashimis. I was a bit confused though as to where the drinks were on the menu, but when we went to pay for our meal we saw that the list of drinks were on a sheet of paper attached on the side of the cash registry. I ended up ordering a tuna donburi bowl, it was absolutely delicious! Tuna just melts in your mouth, and the portion is quite big as well as it got me full quickly. We also tried their crabsticks tempura, it was my first time trying it and I quite liked it! I usually don't eat tempura though because it gets very oily to eat but this one was tolerable. The customer service here is great! The people working here are helpful and the food is served at a decent time. I like how they play music videos on the TV that are from different parts of the world. My friend highly recommends the Chicken ramen. He says that that one is slightly better than the Beef ramen but he still enjoyed the beef ramen nevertheless. I decided to taste the Tempura ramen. I thought it was pretty tasty. Not the best ramen ever but still pretty delicious. I don't know what the fish tasting little cloud shaped things are with the pink swirls but they are yummy! I felt like I was eating anime food hehe. The shrimps that come with it were fried and delicious. The Takoyaki was very interesting. I don't know if I loved it but I am glad I got to taste a bit of it. I love how the inside of the balls is soft and dissolves pretty quickly in my mouth. read more

+.5 for service Winnipeg has a wealth of Japanese/sushi restaurants from what I can tell in my month of being here. Kazoku is another one in the list, located in the south end near the University of Manitoba campus. Kazoku has a wide selection of sushi and rolls, but they also have ramen available. Seeing as how I haven't had ramen in a long time, I went for the ramen here. I had the miso ramen, which is the standard ramen I order in ramen places. For $14.95 it was definitely one of the more expensive ramens I've had, but the quantity was certainly there. Unfortunately I found the ramen to be quite overcooked, as it broke apart too easily. The pork belly was surprisingly tasty, even though it was thick. Service was excellent. The owner seemed to have a grumpy face while I was dining, but he's really a nice person to talk to. Unfortunately the price for ramen was a bit steep, so perhaps I'll stick with the sushi/rolls here. read more

Kazoku treats their sushi as works of art! My friend and I were thoroughly impressed when they put our plates in from of us. Not only were the dishes presented well, they were delicious and in large portions! We were expecting 6 small pieces of each roll so we ordered 2 each... But we got 8-10 large pieces of each roll. I love leftovers!!! My friend and I shared the crab tempura as a starter which already filled us up pretty good. My friend ordered a spicy tuna roll and a special roll called The Creepy which came with a fried lotus root on top. Almost like an Asian French fry, it was interesting. I ordered the classic yam roll and a special roll called Aloha which had a bit of sweetness and wrapped in a pink wrapper which I had never seen before. Decor was nice and modern and they have nice chopsticks! Not just the disposable wooden ones. I would definitely go back to try their Korean food. read more

I ate here often while I lived in the area for a bit. This was one of the 3 restaurants I actually liked in Winterpeg, especially during the freezing cold seasons. Being from the Bay Area in California, I can honestly say if you stuck this restaurant in Downtown SF, it would be just as popular as one of the other ramen houses here, so for me, I loved this place because it reminded me of home. Their broth is very flavorful!!! We would always get the spicy chicken ramen. The curry ramen is surprisingly good as well, I just don't think I could eat a whole bowl of it. Their bento boxes are awesome too! Rolls are big and the fish is fresh. The service here is great too. The owner and his staff were always so friendly. I wish I could give a three and a half as I would say this place didn't quite deserve a four. Interesting decor as every chair has tennis balls on the bottom to stop from scratching. Didn't try and Korean dishes, only sushi which I would say was pretty good, service was a little slow and I think they forgot to input our order because other people were being served before us even after having come in ten minutes after. All in all the staff were friendly but didn't do much to stand out, food was decent but could be better. read more

Went with my 11 year old son and shared a philedelphia roll, shrimp tempura, spicy crab roll and the usual negiri tuna. All very good but the spicy tuna roll was outstanding! Restaurant is very small and was pretty much full. This restaurant is modern and very clean! Many people eating ramen and it looked amazing, will go back for that. The 'Spicy Beef Ramen' was calling my name. The sweet broth, spicy tones, soft hard boiled egg, those green onions, and the perfect ramen noodles. From being brought up on the delicacy of Sapporo ichiban ramen and its exquisite flavours such as Original, Chicken, and Beef, I can tell you that this knocks it out of the park as easy as Ken Griffey jr. Heck, David Chang would have though he walked in to a three star michelin chef restaurant on Pembina Hwy. You can't beat the Tuesday ramen deal for $12.95. I will not order sushi here again. I ordered spicy tuna, salmon + cheese and volcano rolls. Volcano was the worst, especially for $20. Tuna pieces too big and nothing like I expected. Spicy tuna roll was better, but not enough rice and far too much tuna in each centre. All of the rolls were mushy and messy and too much meat/not enough rice. Generous portions though. read more

Been faithfully patronizing this place and with the owner of Kazoku & his sons since they were in Momo/Korean restaurant before. I don't usually write but I felt I have to after the incident tonight. Someone from church make a reservation for a party of 10 but only 9 of us came at 6:00PM. We left at about 7:30PM after our meals. I was the last one in line to leave the place and saying "thank you" and "goodnight" to both sons and owner and one of the son with the glasses snap and says, "After today, we are not taking anymore reservation and if you have a big crowd, you will just have to stand and wait outside!" Wow....excuse me? First of all, I did not make the reservation, I was only a guest for the group, this is really not necessary and uncalled for. If you have crappy day, don't take it out on your customer. Maybe you should tell it to the whole group instead only to me! Is it because I've been there so often that you think you know me it's better to say that to me instead of the rest of the group? I have spoken so highly of this place to my contacts and I have nothing but good things to say. You know how much business I have refered my friends, co-workers, families and clients to eat at your establishment? By the way I think our bill was close to $300.00 plus. Is it not enough for our group to spend for our outing tonight? You should out on your website and FaceBook page that you are not taking reservation in the first place if you cannot accommodate a large group.
