Amazing food. Authentic and flavourful. Highly recommended. Great service and complimentary fruits. Quiet and cozy

Deluxe vermicelli bowl Pork and chicken broken rice Spring rolls One of many Vietnamese restaurants in Winnipeg. This one had cool interior and prices were fair for the vermicelli bowl. The protein that came with the rice vs vermicelli bowl was very diff and noticeable. read more

I am giving this place 4 stars because my friend really liked his meal but I could have given it a 3 stars because the waiter or cook didn't follow my directions on what I wanted to eat. My friend did, however, love his Shrimp Satay and Grilled Chicken Vermicelli bowl. It was a big bowl and everything was well cooked. But when it came to my food, items were missing. I ordered number 36, Shrimp AND Crabmeat Vermicelli soup with Tomatoes and Tofu but NO PORK. I told the waiter I want everything but no pork. When I get my soup the shrimp and crabmeat is not there. Maybe the waiter didn't understand my English words. I don't know. I decided to eat anyways because there was no pork and even though I wanted seafood it still smelled tantalizing. I think there might have been crabmeat in my soup at one point because there was traces of meat disintegrated in the water but no chunks of shrimp. The noodles were delicious and the tomato and seafood flavor surprisingly went well together in the soup. The fruit pieces served before our meal was fresh and tasty though and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. read more

This place is unreal. Love P19 spicy beef pho. The S10 Shrimp dish is delicious! Everything on this menu is so tasty and big portions. I love the staff too, they always treat us like family. This is one of my very favourite restaurants. we go here a lot. read more

Definitely not going back and i wouldnt recommend. Family of 5 who wanted dinner around 445pm. We sat down and placed our order. 20 mins goes by nothing was coming, my kids were getting cranky as they were hungry from an event we went too. I asked for it to be put to go. Then waited another 15 mins for them to make the order. I was very frustrated as my kids are in the car screaming and just wanted to go home. I then just asked for a refund. She first didn't want to give me back my money but I insisted. Restaurant was not busy at all as there were like 3 tables with customers at that time. And looks like there was 6 people work maybe more in the kitchen. Food is good here. But service is the worse. I'd rather go to a place that has good food with better service. read more

no bad, There is a little less food, and the taste is not bad. It doesn't feel as good as the other one in my mind.

An absolute must when looking for authentic Pho. I can only assume that the rest of their dishes would be on par with the pho they serve, but don't quote me on that. Whether hungover, sick, or just plain hungry, Pho Kim Tuong is one of two go-tos that I have for the Vietnamese phenomenon that is Pho. The broth is super flavourful, and the soup is always served piping hot! The service can definitely be a hit or miss; but I have learned not to have super high expectations in the service department at these types of joints. Our experience yesterday however, was amazing. They must have had 5 different staff on the floor, our soup was out within 10 minutes, and we were given complimentary tea and a fruit plate when we were finishing up. After paying our bill we were given a Vietnamese calendar along with a "Merry Christmas", this was definitely our best experience here to date (who doesn't love presents?!). Also important to note: they have a GREAT selection of beer here, at extremely reasonable prices. Domestic bottles are $3.75, while imports (Stella, Heinekin, etc) are a mere $4.50. New pre-game location perhaps? read more

Pho Kim Tuong - Pho tai. Extra beef. All the trimmings. - Vietnamese Near Me - Winnipeg, Manitoba

One of my favourites for Vietnamese food in the city! Decor is updated and clean, staff are friendly and food service is fairly fast, and food is absolutely delicious. My go to dishes are the pho tai (pho with rare beef) and the grilled pork and spring roll (V6) vermicelli bowl (or aka bun bowls). The pho broth is delicious and they bring out all the fresh veggie and herb dish with it along with the birds eye chili. One of the best phos in the city. The vermacelli bowl is another winner as I love their grilled pork. They also serve up very good stir fry dishes like the basil shrimp and ginger chicken. I find their portions to be a better value than other Vietnamese places. Dinner is busy but their food service doesn't have you waiting long. They also bring out a nice complimentary plate of fruit for you to eat post dinner. Parking is on Ellice. This place is directly across from General Wolfe school. read more

I found out about Pho Kim Tuong from a friend of mine. After seeing photos he posted on Facebook, I had brought my husband here on several occasions. The restaurant is kind of dark when you enter inside, except for the light fixtures they have on. There is barely any natural light going into the restaurant at all, except for the table that is in front of the counter where you pay. So for someone like me who likes to take photos of my food in natural light, that was a downer, but the food totally makes up for it. I've never had their pho before, but my husband seemed to think it was quite good. He always orders the pho tai, which is the one with just rare beef. It comes in small ($7.50), large ($8.50), and extra large ($11.50). The spring rolls were also quite good, and you can get them either with meat or vegetarian. They don't ask you which kind you want, so make sure you let them know. It also comes in small ($3.50) or large ($5.95), and we usually order the large which comes with 6 spring rolls, and comes with a nuoc cham (fish sauce based) dipping sauce. One of my favourite things to order is their bun rieu, which is a tomato and crabmeat based broth, served with vermicelli, fried tofu puffs, cha lua (vietnamese sausage), sliced pork, and topped with fried shallots, scallion, and cilantro. There are also various herbs, bean sprouts, and lime provided for you to add into your bowl. Usually when my family makes this, we would add shrimp paste for additional flavour and enhancement to the broth. Shrimp paste is an acquired taste, so do be careful if you plan on trying it. Also, they don't automatically provide you with the shrimp paste. I happen to ask the server if they have any, which they did, and brought some to me. So whenever I order this dish, I always ask for shrimp paste to go along with it. Another thing is, this is the only place in the city which seems to have this dish, because I haven't seen it in any of the Vietnamese restaurants that I've been to. Also, like most Vietnamese restaurants, they don't usually provide much table service. The only time they will come to your table is when you're ready to order and when they bring food to your table. Otherwise, they don't really check up on you, and if you want a drink/water refill, you'll have to call them over. read more

3.5/5, +.5 for service I'm actually quite impressed with the Pho options in Winnipeg. There seems to be a nice cluster of Pho restaurants, especially in the West End. I decided on Pho Kim Tuong as the reviews looked very positive, and it was on the way to a couple of errands on Ellice. The decor was quite nice; it looked recently renovated as well. I find the doors to the washrooms quite cute, since it's a double door before there are separate pathways leading to the washrooms. As for the food, I ordered the stewed beef noodle soup, since I saw photos of that order from reviews and it looked appetizing. Indeed I really liked the broth; it brought out that tomato taste very well. The carrots were not chewy at all, which is exactly what it should be for this noodle soup. Service was very good and attentive overall. I was definitely satisfied with my meal, and will definitely consider returning. EDIT: Review #900! read more

I've gone here quite a few times. Most times have been just fine: great Pho, beautiful fresh fruit for dessert. The food is great. However, this one time (stay tuned because it's not just once, there's other things) I went in a had a very negative experience with the service. I had ordered a seafood soup dish and requested no squid (only shrimp and crab then). I've done this before no problem. When the dish came out it had pork on it. I don't eat pork. I didn't touch the dish and when the server came back, I told him I must have accidentally gotten someone else's order. He told me no, that's mine. We had a back and forth where I said I didn't eat pork so it must not be mine. He took the dish to the kitchen to ask. He came back saying that they had put pork on it to make up for there not being squid. I said I didn't ask for that so I won't eat it, and I'll have to order something different. In short, he and the kitchen kept insisting that I'd have to pay for the dish that THEY messed up. I'm still not sure how someone can think that it's okay to add random meat to a seafood dish and then blame it on the customer and try to make them pay for it. Anyway, I ate MY dish when it came out, all while the other dish sat on our table. At the end of the meal, the server asked if I wanted to pack it up. I said no, thanks. I won't eat it anyway. Finally, when I went up to the front to pay the lady, she didn't really want to hear anything about it. Apparently they'd already been aware of it. In the end, she took it off my bill without argument, but also without me being able to get a word in and very kindly and gently say that that was pretty unreasonable. I paid and she gave me a boatload of litchi candies for the road. When I told a friend about this, she shared with me that she had gone a few times and both times, the staff tried to overcharge her party. The menu prices were NOT what they ended up paying, and when it was brought up at the till, a whole argument ensued. I also read that this happened to another reviewer, so not an isolated incident. This is definitely NOT the way to treat your customers. If YOU make a mistake, you fix it. If you put a price on your menu, that's the price the customer should pay. Don't ever try to sneak extra money out of a customer because they're not following with mental math at the till. Don't ever try to make a customer pay for a dish they never ordered. That said, I'm definitely willing to give the place another chance. It's been a longtime favorite of my husband, so I'm bound to go back (but only with him or if I'm invited, and we'll definitely be checking the bill). I won't go out of my way to go back there myself. read more

I had p21, it was great, not too spicey, great flavour, beef was perfect. Lots of mint, sprouts and fresh limes. At $11.75 for a salad bowl full of veggies, noodles, meat and fantastic broth, it's not expensive and it's very authentic. Also the free fruit plates given to each table are very nice. I will definitely come back, also the best place in Winnipeg for pho. read more

Came here for New Years 2019, will probably never come back. The waitress didn't even take our order, she gave me a pen and paper and told me write it down myself. I then had to bring my order to the front and force someone to take it since all the servers were running around like crazy even though only half the tables were full. My husband and I waited 40 minutes and all we got was spring rolls. I had to ask for something to eat the food with and then ask for water twice. When our pho came out, it was missing the beef tendon. I asked the waitress about it, and a woman from the front came to my table and literally said "hi what's your problem?" We also ordered crispy 5 star shrimp that took 50 minutes in total to come out. All the tables around us were also complaining about how long they were waiting and why their orders were incorrect. One of the server's response was that they had 2 large tables in the back and what do we expect them to do. Horrible service and even worse attitude. The food is amazing, but it's expensive and you'll wait forever and get attitude on the side. In the end the server also told me the reason they were so behind was because they had so many skip the dishes orders. So in short this restaurant only cares about making money, not about customers or their service. read more

The design there is quite pleasant looking. The service is good. Presentation of the food is good, clean and attractive. The food their are quite delicious too. I heard they are focusing on how they can improve the taste of their Vietnamese coffee at home, which shows that they care about their foods and they're looking for ways to improve them. It's a wonderful restaurant, a great new start. read more

I really like their Vietnamese food here, it is one of the best tasting one in Winnipeg. I've been here over 3 times now and so far I've only had 1 problem with their food. Last time I've ordered take out for their broken rice dishes R14 it has grilled chicken, grillded pork and also shredded pork. My shredded pork has already gone bad and I had no idea and ate it but had to split it out. It tasted very slimy with a bad odour. I didn't contact them as I don't think I could drive back to return it and don't want them to remember me everytime I go there. Overall it is quick service and if you want to get take out order by phone as they do get busy in the dining room and you may have to wait for them to finish serving dining room first before they start on your take out. They prefer cash payment over debit as the owner will ask every customer to pay cash instead of debit/credit card. And then she will give you candy for paying cash. read more

My crew is in town from Toronto and we decided to give this place a try. We were really surprised. One of the best Pho restaurants I have ever been to. The staff is awesome. You can tell they genuinely enjoy feeding their customers and that energy translates directly into the food. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend anyone who loves good Pho check it out. read more

Absolutely love this place!! Service is always friendly and quick, food is always fresh and flavourful. There are many vegan items which can be hard to find in Winnipeg and the prices are reasonable. Do yourself a favour and pay Pho Kim Tuong a visit! read more

This restaurant used to be one of my favourite places - reasonable price, great food, good service, quick.....not anymore! I was there yesterday, ordered a deluxe wonton noodle soup, tasted good until I got to the bottom of the bowl and found a cherry seed. Someone had eaten a cherry and spat or dropped the seed in the soup! I mentioned it to the waitress who didn't say much. When I was paying for the food, I found a plate of fresh cherries on the table near the counter. How coincidental! I mentioned it again to the owner - he questioned the waitress and some kitchen staff, came out and apologized. Each time I think about that, I am just disgusted. The thought that someone ate a cherry and I found the seed in my food just makes my stomach turn. read more
