I love these salads. wish there was one in the ballston/clarendon area. I've probably tried 10 or so of them and never been disappointed. Dressing selection is amazing. This makes them 'sandwiches', but I just call it super yummy goodness that's healthy for you! If you opt to have the real salad, you get about twice as much salad and no edible outside goodness. You choose your salad and dressing (there are a variety-even 'spa' (fat free!!) and they chop it up there in front of you with their special chopper. Another great thing that Chop't has are their drinks. They have in house lemonade, strawberry-lemonade (I recommend), iced tea, and iced-tea/lemonade as well as hand crafted sodas (sweetened with cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup). Chop't, though slightly expensive, is a worth-wile trip for those in the area that are in the mood for a refreshing lunch that won't cause them to nap after lunch or regret not going to the gym (plus you can get a 'Frequent Chopper' card that will reward you with a free meal after 9 paid ones). Everything is fresh in Chop't, even the bright green decor and clean, white tables. Chop't is my go-to lunch place in Rosslyn. Their ingredients are always fresh, there is a wonderful array of pre-set salads or create your own to order! I really appreciate the detailed calorie info and the 'spa' line of low-cal dressings are flavorful while keeping the calories down! You can take your order either as a salad or a wrap! I have tried various combinations over time, but I usually go back to either a Cobb variation or an Asian combo. During the lunch hour there is usually quite a line. But it moves along quickly! The prices usually run on the order of $10.00, which is a tad stiff for a salad. But these are SUBSTANTIAL portions!! It is a great alternative to the usual fast-food luncheon options!! read more

I usually go out of my way to come here because I love their salads. I always get the kale ceased and add avocado, dried cranberries, and tomatoes. They pretty much know my order by now and I don't even go on a consistent basis. The only downside is that it's downtown and parking is difficult to find. Not the best, not the worst. It's about $9 for a big bowl of salad. You can choose from one of their options or make your own. Depending on your toppings, it can either leave you feeling full or still hungry. Every time I've gone though, I've been unable to finish the entire bowl in one sitting (PROTEIN!) I like that they have so many options, especially their interesting dressings (chimichurri, smoky bacon russian, tabasco ranch, and my favorite: sweet and smoky chipotle vinaigrette). A friend of mine told me that their wraps are amazing, but I have yet to try them myself. I also like that they have mirrors at their tables, so you can make sure you don't walk out of there with lettuce stuck in your teeth! I really do not like chop't. the salad never tastes fresh here. something about the place kills the veggies. they're dead and flaccid by the time the salad comes out. the egg also tastes rubbery. overall bland and rubbery are the most common textures in their salads. service is fine. I just don't get why people eat here and how there are so many locations. I've given it two tries now and can confidently say there will not be a third. read more

By far the healthiest cheap lunch you'll find in Rosslyn. It gets crowded, but wait is never too bad. Delivery is free, and all the people that work here are very polite and good at what they. I come all the time, and will continue to come. Get a Chop't card too--by the time you've bought 9 salads, you'll have gotten a free drink, free desert, and free salad. During Passover, they even carried Matzo, and will switch cutting boards if you want to keep it kosher. I'm not Jewish, but I thought this was a nice touch. They also have the only Boylan's Cane Sugar soda fountain I've ever seen with 8 different cane sugar based sodas. I knock it a star mostly for the low seating--several times haven't been able to find a spot. read more

Need an overpriced gourmet salad? You've found it! The food is great, but the line is typically 6 people deep at 6:00 pm. (You can dodge the line by ordering online...) Salads are nearly $10, but well worth the sticker shock once you dig into it's crispy goodness... and you'll be happy to know it'll definitely fill you up! If you want them to hold something and go heavy on something else, let 'em know... the salads are customizable. Don't expect your typical soda options - they have the hipster version of a coke machine with hypothetically healthier options than the typical joints. Back in the South (sounds like a bad movie already), there is salad & soup place called Crispers. I frequented the place about 2-4 times per month. Fresh salads & yummy soups. My hubby and I decided to try Chop't after walking by the restaurant a couple of times (and my withdrawal from having salads). They have an impressive amount of ingredients & salad dressings...and I can taste the difference in the organic foods. Yes, it is a little pricey but you can feed two people with one salad bowl. We both ordered a salad bowl so we learned that lesson the hard way. I am sure there are times when the lettuce is soggy or the salad dressing is too much - but, hey, when has your steak arrived at your table and it's been too overdone or your food came out with the wrong side? Just food for thought. Will be going again...and sharing 1 bowl. I like salad but that not much. read more

The salads here are terrific. A bit pricey, but the portions are generous and the ingredients are always extremely fresh. Chop't does salads well. Period. I also love that Chop't posts its nutrition information - including a menu for those on special diets - online. They literally could not make it easier. What is really worth reviewing, though, is the service. Most of the employees at the Rosslyn location are Spanish speakers, but they certainly understand the words "Celiac Disease". I mentioned to the gentleman who took my order that I was gluten-free and might need him to change his gloves if he had touched any croutons or bread for previous patrons' orders. He immediately did so and whispered something to the man next to him. That man cleaned and sanitized the cutting board that my salad was to be made on, and he even took all the equipment and utensils he needed to use back to the sink to wash them prior to preparing my meal. I was literally amazed. Now THIS is service! The staff at Chop't is by far the most attentive crew I've encountered outside of a sit-down restaurant. Not only are the employees at Chop't clearly trained to handle diners with food allergies, but they are also extremely sensitive to the seriousness of the issue. They went above and beyond to make sure my meal was safe. And because Chop't continually provides great food, good value and outstanding customer service, I will return again and again. read more

I really don't know how to feel about Chopt. Often I love the sound of their salads but I wind up disappointed, particularly with their seasonal salads. Often times I think they are way too heavy on the acidic/sour notes in the attempt to create "bold" flavors. After today I've learned my lesson. I had the seasonal Vietnamese meatball noodle bowl exactly as on the menu and it was just SO sour. The salad was swimming in some kind of vinegar that the noodles were stored in, in addition to the heavy dressing and the overpowering lemongrass flavor of the meatballs. I am well used to salty, sour, strong flavors in Vietnamese food but this was over the top. The dressing, meatballs, and noodles were all heavily competing instead of complimenting each other. It gave me instant heartburn, for the cost of $12. Ugh. read more

I've been to quite a few different Chopt locations, and have been really impressed. However, this Chopt was pretty disappointing. For one, they did not have all of the meat that I chose, so they gave me half and subbed in the rest with something else. The salad assembly line also seemed confusing and out of place. It was hard to follow and they did not guide the process very well. Finally, the dressings were not correct at all. There seemed to be some confusion with what dressing I asked for, but I trusted that they knew which was which in the bottles. They have several different types of lettuce, just about every different type of toppings, and to top it off they place your greens in a travelers case to snack on later! Great concept of a food spot. Although, my main issue is that every part and parcel counteracts each respectful ingredient. For example, with fruit punch there is not a single fruit concentrate that is dominant over the other. Unfortunately, chop't salads accomplishes this. They "Chop't" the salads mighty quick with toppings, granishes, and other sprinkles that become a mess over spinach and romaine greens. When I'm craving a salad that I can put exactly what I want on it, I go to Chop't. The only complaint I would have is how much they charge for extra ingredients. Sometimes my creations cost $12. But, when I think about it, for me to go buy those ingredients would probably cost more than $12, and I'd be stucking eating that same salad for the next 3 days in order to use everything before it goes bad. So, I return to Chop't another day. If you go here, get the dressing on the side. They always put too much dressing on, and if you go eat it somewhere else, your dressing drenched lettuce has wilted and the salad is mushy. read more

Certainly not the best salad place I have eaten at, but by no means bad. When you walk in, you are greated by a line that wraps around the store and out the doorway. It was humongous! It took about 10 minutes just to place my order. When you finally make it to the end, there is a worker that places you somewhere on the "salad bar" to speak to one of the preparers. Everything gets so confusing - the preparer sends your ingredients down the line and back and forth, they don't really talk to you since they are so busy, and you end up getting nudged along by one of the workers because you are standing in the wrong place. It was Washington DC traffic in lunch line form. So, I got a Chicken Ceaser salad sandwich (as basic as it really gets). The portion was enormous; I almost didn't finish it. Oddly enough though, It was a little skimpy on the chicken. The bulk of the portion was lettuce and dressing - which I suppose I should expect from a salad place. Their ceaser dressing was kinda runny and brown which was a bit disappointing, but I suppose it's a little better for you than the white creamy kind anyway. Although it was somewhat satisfying, I don't think I'd come back on my own craving or will. It's one of those places that if a friend wanted to go, I'd eat there because it's not terrible - but if he asked me where I wanted to eat, I wouldn't suggest this place. read more

I live in California, but my folks live in VA. They live in Reston. Reston is NOT near Rosslyn...at all. HOWEVER, I used to live in NYC. And while there, I worshipped at the altar of Chop't. Chop't is so good, in fact, that I will sometimes hop in the car and drive from Reston to Rosslyn just to pick up a salad for dinner. You'd think places like this would exist in California, that California would have invented the damn build-your-own-healthy-salad business. But no, no one can do it like Chop't. Dressings made fresh on-site. Anything you can dream of to put in your salad. Also, when you put in avocado, they give you a HALF of an avocado. That's a lot of avocado! Yay Chop't! If anyone doesn't like Chop't...they're a communist. Except sometimes they don't dry off the lettuce enough and the salad can be a little soupy at the bottom, but that doesn't happen every often, and even then it tastes awesome and is a total foodgasm in my mouth. We are originally from Michigan so when our family visits, they always want to try the "special salad place". I guess specialty salad shops have not caught on yet in the Midwest. Go figure... We're always very excited to show off "our" Chop't because we are rarely disappointed. My husband and I also occasionally like to eat here after several days of greasy pizza. It's like a detox meal for your body. The service is OK and most importantly, they get our orders correct. Substitutions are ok which I love because I always substitute avocado for tomato on almost everything and its always free! Love! As a native Californian I was sceptical about this place, but it was absolutely delicious! Fiance ordered a custom made salad that he could only eat about half of. I ordered the vegetarian wrap & it was so delicious I ate every bite! The soda they have there is all natural, similar to Hansen's. Delicious with natural fizz, yum! & it's healthier too! Chop't needs to come to the west coast! I love this place. You can choose to make your own salad or choose from their own recipes. There are tons of fixings and choices, I can't see anyone not finding some combination to tickle their fancy. I love that the ingredients are locally sourced, utensils and bowls are made from recycled materials and they prepare everything in front of you. BF ordered the heirloom tomato wrap and I had the Cobb salad. His was much better than mine! The Cobb was good but not as good as the heirloom tomato salad. This review is under the Rosslyn store, but now I mostly go to the 16th and K store since I now work in that neighborhood. Chop't is fantastic (regardless of location). These days my usual salad is a make your own Spinach salad with crumbled egg, tomato, carrots and chick peas as the free add ins and honey dijon dressing. It is $5.99, in DC with tax $6.59, and easily one of the cheapest and healthiest food options for lunch in the DC area. My other recent favorite is the Monterrey salad with spinach as the lettuce instead of iceberg and the chipotle vinaigrette dressing (the chipotle vinaigrette dressing is a real winner). Don't do that salad as often because of the increased cost and calories (chicken and pepper jack cheese) but it is a real tasty change of pace. read more

It was meh. I think it was because I didn't get enough dressing, but the salad was very bland. It was my first time there, so I didn't know how much dressing to get. I do like that they chopped up the pieces, making the salad more easily eaten, but there was too little flavor. I had to add salt and pepper, which just made it taste saltier and peppier. Another minor annoyance was that the soda I wanted (cherry soda) was extremely foamy. It took me forever to partially fill up my cup. Bleh..I'm just impatient. Love Chop't! I often crave the spicy Mexican Caesar and the tiny bits of jalapenos chop't into the salad. I've never actually been to the Rosslyn location, but have ordered from there (via DoorDash) and the process was quick and seamless. I definitely agree with the other reviews that the menu is wayy too pricy, but I don't mind treating myself to Chop't every once in a while! I tried this place on a Saturday afternoon, and I have to say I was quite impressed. Although, the choices are overwhelming!! Pick your lettuce Pick your 4 choppings Pick your protein Pick your dressing Sounds easy, right? It took my 10 minutes to read through the menu. I suggest picking up a menu, reading through it at a table before trying to order. If you want a listing of what's in the dressings - there is a menu for that at the end of the salad line. The salad is the same size as a Cosi salad, but there is way more lettuce than choppings. The ingredients are fresh as can be, and if you get the right combination, quite tasty! The highest factor for me was the Boylan's soda machine. IT IS AWESOME! I am a huge fan of the brand and have never seen it "on tap". Now I can have a soda and not feel guilty. Where the salads have way too much greenery in proportion to toppings, the wraps are just right. I never eat salad, but this is the only place where I will eat a salad. It is a very healthy type of salad too! I get the kabob cobb salad with tzatziki sauce. It's the only salad I get here and I haven't tried anything else cause it's so good, but it's a really generous portion. I assume all their other salads are just as good. The kabob cobb includes free bird grilled chicken, some feta, bell peppers, red onion, pita chips, and romaine lettuce, and I like to dress it with their greek yogurt tzatziki, which is delicious and really low cal. Being a tourist, I had never heard of this place before, but one night I needed some fast food to bring back to my hotel, and this seemed to be the only place nearby to help me achieve that. These salads are good, not great but it is technically a fast food place. While it is a little more expansive, the salads are filling. And let's be honest, there's just not a lot of options in Rosslyn. You have to be careful because the extra topping costs add up quickly. You can make any salad into a wrap which I love. The chicken Caesar is great. If you're calorie counting be careful because they don't include the dressing calories in the overall salad calories. The spa dressings are a good option for low cal. The lunch rush/how the line works can be confusing but hang in there. I think it's worth it but I like to treat myself to a Caesar salad wrap and a diet dr pepper :) read more
