This is the most popular stall in this food court. I really like coming here because the owner is very friendly, he greets everyone that comes in line. He also runs the food to the people overall very friendly service. I ordered a bowl of beef noodles and I made it spicy. It's not spicy. I'm starting to think there's something wrong with me because I find a lot of things not spicy. There is a generous amount of noodle and beef for the price point. I definitely think it's worth it. A lot of places give you way less. I definitely think it is a little on the saltier side, but also packed with a lot of flavor. If you were ever in the Chinatown plaza of food court, this is definitely a good stall. It's set up kind of like a small food court, except you actually get a full meal. The other stalls aren't as friendly although I will say all the food in this food court is pretty good. I just specifically like this one because he's very generous with the food, it's definitely worth your money. Fair warning, if you do go to this food court, prepared to smell like the food haha
Visited the Chinese food hall on Peachtree for lunch. There are so many options but we went with Chong Qing hot pot. It's not like other hot pots I've had where everything is brought to the table and you cook it. Here, you select your meat(s), spice level and any other entrees you want at the register. The veggies and noodles are cooked and brought to your table in the pot with bowls of rice. I kind of liked this style of hot pot. You're able to actually enjoy the pot without the work of cooking it too. The flavors of the pot were so good. The lamb and veggies were so tender from sitting in the hot broth. Only thing I didn't like was discovering noodles were in the bottom of the pot when I was almost done. Wish I had dug down deep when filling my bowl. Would have loved to have eaten some of those noodles before I got full. Service is what it is. The guy taking our order kept trying to tell us what he thought we would like down to the hot spot level of spiciness. He was slightly rude, whereas my sister would be saying what we wanted and he either interrupted or talked over her. It took us possible 6 minutes longer to order because of this. My sister eats here often so we knew what we wanted. Over all, the food hall is a nice concept. It's clean and spacious. I recommended eating in the Chinese garden if weather permits. It was very peaceful eating out there. I plan to go back and try some of the other options there.
My friend and I split their Szechuan fish which came with complementary white rice, Egg Drop Soup and Hot and Sour Soup. Given how densely flavored the fish was, we needed a lot of white rice to balance it out, which luckily came with free refills. Not sure if it was because it was the end of the day but the egg drop and hot and sour soups were not good. They tasted almost soapy/fishy in very unpleasant ways. Overall, the portion and quality was well matched for the cost so I definitely want to come back and try something more items from their menu. Staff were kind even though they were busy. This is very much a low key and whole in the wall place. As long as you know that (and be cautious of the complementary soups), I am sure you will find something that you like!
This place never disappoints. Another successful lunch buddy adventure. The leftovers were better than the actual entree so always take those. Love this place.
Pretty good hot pot in a food court setting. I liked the flavor of the broth in the beef hot pot (a little spicy), but it really needed salt. I could taste flavors like garlic and ginger in the background, but it was a bit bland. I ended up experimenting with adding sole soy sauce to the broth and it perked it up a lot. The steamed pork dumplings were some of the best I've had. Not too thick or gummy, lots of filling. I liked the atmosphere and saw some other noodle dishes I'd like to try.
Dan Dan Noodles - overcooked fettuccine on top of Dan Dan sauce. Not attractive, not tasty, not Dan Dan. Cumin Lamb - oily, greasy, lamb full of fat and cartilage, not at all pleasant to eat. Best part of the meal? The white rice.
We discovered this spot on Tik Tok (thanks, @livinginatlantageorgia). And we ordered exactly what he recommended! We tried the spicy beef hot pot and given that temps were in the 30s, it was a perfect dinner for a chilly night! The food court itself is tucked away in a mall with a cute courtyard with a garden and pond. Lights and decorations make the spot super cute. Lots of people there, but it wasn't too crowded. Most spots only had one or two people in line and finding parking and seating was no problem at all on the Friday night that we visited. We ordered our hot pot at Chong Qing and a few items from other stalls and found a seat to wait. Our hot pot was ready in about ten minutes and was well worth the wait. We ordered our hot pot medium spicy, and it was a little much for some members of our family. We will probably take a step down on the spice next time and let each family member add their own chili oil (which was specifically shouted out as being the very best in the Tik Tok we saw). Beef was great, and the texture of the tofu was perfect and custardy. We got a side of rice, which helped us cut the spice a bit. The hot pot does have glass noodles, but if you are a carb lover like me, you'll want more - so the rice helps with that. They have lots of hot pots to choose from, so we will definitely return to try some new things!
CASH Preferred =. Ambiance is that of an outdated food court. There are ~6 Asian restos at this Chinatown food court. DR is open, self serve tables inside and a couple of garden tables outside. ++. Food is SPICY Chinese. Over the years, I've tried dishes like cumin lamb, cumin beef, Chong Qing spicy chicken, egg plants, string beans but my favorite is their dry beef (or chicken) hotpot. It's a good balance of veggies to meat ratio and balanced spice. Included is steamed white long grain rice. If you eat on site, they offer self serve complimentary hot and sour or egg drop soup but not for take outs. +. Prices is reasonable and CASH is preferred. Credit cards are accepted but you incur a transaction fee. Pay inside. ++. Service is friendly and efficient. I do takeouts and call ahead. My order usually is ready in about 15 - 20 minutes. +. Parking is a limited shared lot and free. CQ is a tried and true traditional Chinese food. Best for takeouts! MY RATINGS - - - Inhumane - - Disgusted - Don't bother = Missed the Mark + Good ++ Better +++ EDIBLE...WHERE have you been all my LiFe!
Step inside and you're automatically transferred to East Asia. This food court, and Chong Qing specifically are an absolute gem. This was probably the most authentic East Asian meal I've had since my time in China. The spicy beef hot pot was so flavorful and definitely lived up with the heat (I went through several cups of water)! My favorite dish was the cumin beef, I'm still thinking about it! Be warned though, you must love cumin because it's completely covered in it. The value of the meals here is also great, we had lots of leftovers. Parking: Easy free parking shared with various businesses
Tucked away inside Atlanta China Town mall/food court. Hubby brought me here for dinner because his boss took him for lunch a week ago and he loved it. The food court is across from a nice courtyard garden. There were 4-5 restaurants/vendors and almost everyone eating in was getting their food from Chong Qing Hot Pot - this was a very good sign to me. We ordered the medium sized Beef Hot Pot, medium spicy, with sprouts instead of noodles. They have complimentary egg drop soup, hot & sour soup, and rice. As we waited for our hot pot, I tried both soups. Both were pretty bland, with no signature flavors of either of these soups, but hey - they were free! I think xxx I'll pass on them next time. The hot pot came out steaming hot and they set it up on a burner. We got some rice because hubby said, "we're going to need it!" I had a little concerned about flavor after tasting the complimentary soups - they definitely put their focus on the hot pots!!!!!!! Yummy and spicy and delicious and hot. I'm very glad my hubby brought our own spoons. I thought he was crazy, but they keep costs down by only providing the bare minimum in service ware - styrofoam bowls, little plastic spoons and forks, and chopsticks (and napkins of course). The order taker asked us where we got the spoons and we said we brought them in with us - she giggled and said that was a good idea. Now to describe flavor... The beef was tender and soaked up the yummy szechuan red chili broth. Medium was the perfect spice level for me and I LOVE heat!!! It had cabbage, carrots, zucchini, tofu, Szechuan chili peppers, and the beef in it. We substituted the noodles for bean sprouts and asked for more sprouts for our left overs. Yes - we have enough leftovers to have lunch for both of us tomorrow!! What an amazing deal - $13 for the hot pot +$1 for the extra sprouts and we had dinner and lunch for two!! Amazing . Service was.top notch. The order taker was so helpful and friendly. She made ordering easy and getting our extras and to-go containers was a breeze. We definitely will be back and this will probably become one of our go to places.
We saw this on Strictly Dumpling and had to make a stop on our trip. It is in a food court with other Chinese stalls. You order at the cou ter and it is brought out to your table. It was delicious and a huge portion for the price! I ordered the beef hot pot not spicy. It took a few minutes to come out but when it did it was worth the wait. It comes out in a pot with a flame burner underneath. There was so much beef and veggies. The broth had great flavor. Not too salty or bland. I would want to eat it on a cold day, when feeling sick, or any old day. You can get rice at the counter for free to go with the hotpot. If you are near I would highly recommend a stop in to try the hotpot.
Never a bad experience. Good food for a good price. I normally stick to the same couple of items.
Chinatown food court is such an underrated place and this is one of my favorites restaurants in the food court! Once you order at the counter you can sit wherever you like. They have free water or hot tea that is self serve as well as free egg drop soup and hot&sour soup too! when your order is ready they'll generally call it out and you can get it OR they'll bring it to your table. This place is known for their spicy dishes and they make their own chili oil (yum). My husband and I shared: - hot pot with crispy pork ($12.50): such a steal for the price, and it's huge! we got it medium spicy and will definitely get it hot or extra spicy next time. The broth is flavorful and comes out in a mini wok over a fire so it's kept boiling. Filled with vegetables like carrots, zucchini and cabbage + vermicelli noodles and PLENTY of crispy pork. They also offer hot pot with other meats like chicken, beef or lamb. Recommend for sure! - string bean with minced pork (I forgot the price but around $10): fried string beans in sautéed garlic, onions and minced pork. So good! - Chongqing spicy pork intestine: my usual go to item here. They fry it crispy and it's sooo good with rice.

Chong Qing is located in a food court, which was busy when we arrived. We had placed a takeout order, so our visit was pickup and go. Both chicken orders were heavily breaded. Sesame chicken was bathed in a sweet sauce with a dusting of sesame seeds. The General Tao's chicken was resting in pepper oil with pepper flakes throughout. The flavor was there; a touch of heat, but not hot. The mix of breading and oil created a spongy feel. Not bad- I would have preferred a little less breading and more chicken. The lo mein was seemed tasty by my daughter. We also ordered egg drop soup which was on the bland side. Not a bad meal, but not an outstanding one. read more

An authentic szechuan spot in atlanta at an incredible price. Picture menu is very customer friendly even if you don't speak Chinese and the cashier was incredibly nice and helpful. (I do speak Chinese for clarity.) Recommend their jumping fish and tofu or any of their hot pots. They have many classic chinese dishes as well with homestyle sichuan preparation. An easy place for me to recommend for good Chinese food. read more

I lived and worked in china and got accustomed to authentic Chinese food. Since coming back, my taste for Americanized Chinese food is no longer there. I simply cannot stand Americanized Chinese. This place is legit. I've been to several authentic sichuan restaurants around the country and this place is easily as good or better than almost everyone I've been to. They have my favorite sichuan dish on the menu...Ants climbing a tree and it's just like I remember from eating it in China. I'm here on business for one more night and I'm going back. Next time I'm in town for business, I'm going back. It's. That. Good. You'll notice I gave the atmosphere 5 stars. I would assume most Americans would give it 1 because it's, well, a food court. Thing is...it reminds me of the restaurants in the malls that I'd go to in china so...5 stars it is. The facility even has a small garden in the middle which gave me pause. Don't get me wrong, it's no Suzhou garden but there's something about it that is comforting. Bottom line, you have to try this place. If you like Americanized Chinese food then I'm sure they have something you'll like but I don't know because I didn't look. read more
I've been to this food court where Chong Qing is located multiple times and have been trying to do the whole circuit and try every restaurant in here. We ordered the fish fillet with eggplant, crispy pork hot pot, and house lo mein. We enjoyed all the dishes, but especially the fish/eggplant dish. Fish was perfectly tender. Never really eaten eggplant before, but I couldn't get enough of that either. Service was overall quick and friendly. I would definitely come here again to try more of their menu items. read more
This little food court tucked in the side streets of Buford highway is the definition of a hidden gem and one of the most fun places to visit here in Atlanta. Many of my friends who have moved from ATL still dream of this place so I'm really thankful to have been introduced to it back in 2015 by some friends. The Dan Dan noodles are a must try (they're like crack) and I also enjoyed the beef hot pot at medium spicy level. A few of my favorite parts of visiting below: 1. The Dan Dan noodles basically come separated, they have the special chili sauce at the bottom and mixing it together is oh so satisfying... 2. I've always had really good customer experience, they have free rice and soup as well as really nice service so it's just a nice place to visit 3. The whole setting in the food court just really feels like you're transported into a different place and out of Atlanta If you're looking for Dan Dan noodles this is your spot, you'll see more from Atlanta China Town soon read more
Get the Dried Fish Hot Pot and make it spicy you will not regret it! Make sure to mix it after the fire goes out so the flavors are mixed in well. Every bite is better than the last and the serving size is huge. I get at a least 2.5 more meals from this dish. Additionally, I always get string beans as a side and this time we tried the Dan Dan noodles (no meat) which were good as well! read more

Found this place on Yelp I had a taste for real Asian cuisine. And boy did it not disappoint. I like that this food is Szechuan because it is a diff type of Chinese food which means it's more spicy and more flavorful. When you first arrive at the building you might by thrown off because it looks like a hall. But it's a good kitchen in the rear and there are several Asian places all authentic and the smells are amazing. I ordered the 1.Kung pao chicken 2. Chicken fried rice 3.Greens beans tossed in garlic sauce (favorite)!!! 4. White rice There were so many items on the menu it was hard to chose. The rice could have had just a little more flavor it's kind of plain but everything else was superb. I will be back again. read more

Whenever I take a trip up to Chinatown plaza, I always have to order from Chong Qing Hot Pot. We ordered the Cumin Lamb and the Dry Fish Hot Pot. I've order from them several times in the past and have never been disappointed. Their service is always helpful, as they help you set up your hot pot and refill your bowl of rice when needed. This is located in the plaza's food court, but the food exceeds any type of mall food court you can imagine. The place is generally pretty clean and simply designed. I will always recommend this place! read more

My husband and I love this place. We live in Florida but every time we do road trips we try to pass by this area just to go to this restaurant. The food is delicious specially the Spicy chicken and the fish. The hot pot is also delicious. The service is good and fast. The food is always hot. This is one of our top two places to get Szechuan! The prices are extremely fair, the environment is super casual (cafeteria-style), and the owner is really friendly and accommodating. This reviews covers a few visits, so some pics may repeat, but at least you know what we are coming back for. Not pictured but LOVED is their Cumin Lamb. It is the best I have had anywhere in Atlanta. The cumin to spice balance is on point! Beef Rice Noodle soup - Outstanding, the broth is so simple and clean yet flavorful. My hubs prefers rice noodles because he can't eat flour noodles, so it is great to have that option. They always give you enough of everything- noodles, bok choy, and beef. Seafood Hotpot - This is amazing and more than enough for three or four people. Plenty of seafood, rich spicy broth, and the fish (I am guessing Cod) is cooked perfectly! Spice Level- we LOVE spicy food and can handle it - the hubs is Korean and I lived there for eight years so we had plenty of spicy food experience. IMO, medium is perfect. Not too spicy, but more than enough heat. Salt & Pepper Squid - This is another great dish. The coating on the squid is nice and light in texture, never heavy. It is seasoned well and a perfect complement to their other dishes. Szechuan Spicy Fish Soup - This is my alternative to the seafood hot pot. It is only fish - amazingly soft, melt in your mouth fish, but has the same broth (or tastes similar enough) as the hot pot. It comes Medium-spicy, which is perfect. Scoop a spoon of the broth and fish over your rice for balance. Steamed dumplings- I enjoyed these but dumplings are pretty average. My favorite part of this dish was the steamed Bok Choy in the hot oil, which made my husband happy cuz all the dumplings were for him. We are regulars, if you can't already tell! Love this place and highly recommend to anyone in search of more authentic Chinese food. My only complaint is the use of styrofoam - I get that it is cheap and keeps the food we love affordable, but there are better alternatives that I hope they look into one day. read more

Such an unassuming location in the center of a tiny "china town" the pandemic has the place pretty quiet but there are are few restaurants open in the food court. I've never been to China but I feel as though these eats are close to being on the streets in Asia. I'm so thrilled to be venturing out to support small businesses like this. The food is spectacular. We got the dry fish hot pot and two orders of the spicy Crispy chicken--it's intimidating with all the red peppers but the crunchy texture and the full flavor bites are perfect with the Asian white rice staple. I hope these mom and pops survive c19! read more
Chong Qing Hot Pot serves authentic Sichuan Chinese cuisine within a strip mall in Chamblee. FOOD (4.5/5): The are many options here but my personal favorites are the hot pot options, egg plant dishes, dumplings, and Sichuan flavored entrees. I highly recommend ordering many things and splitting them with your party. SERVICE (4/5): Very friendly and helpful in choosing dishes. There is a 3.5% charge for all credit card purchases but the dishes are affordably priced so it doesn't bother me much. Overall, this is a great stop for affordable traditional Chinese food near ATL. read more

Y'all, Chongqing Hot Pot is still open as of today for takeout and still making delicious food! We placed an order through the app, it went immediately through to the restaurant (we did call to confirm), we called again once we arrived at the food court, and they brought it right out and set it on one of the chairs near the door. Easy peasy: no contact, no need to enter any rooms or touch any doors. Particularly standout dishes tonight: perfectly saucy eggplant garlic and chewy rice cakes with beef! I always do love the bok choy and wood ear mushroom, too. read more

Chong Qing Hot Pot is a hidden or maybe not so hidden jewel. Great quality food, affordable prices and large portions. Everything is prepared fresh and there was a steady stream of customers but they got the orders out quickly. I went for the Spicy Chicken which I like but the true star to me was the Sweet & Sour Fried Fish. Crispy pieces of white fish in a very delicious sweet and sour sauce. It was so good and I can't wait to have it again. Next time I will order the fish and one of their hot pots. If you find yourself in the area and close to the China Town shopping plaza definitely check them out. read more

Not authentic Sichuan food, or maybe I ordered the wrong items. Their pic of the dry fish hot pot on the menu featured many fish pieces but what I got in reality was mostly bland veggies and few fish pieces. The Chong qing chicken had no numbing peppercorns in sight and tastes like it's flavored with sweet chili sauce... read more
I got Dan Dan noodles ma and I'm glad that my boyfriend and I got it. There's a lot of yummy food pictures in the binder. We decided to try this. This dish is pretty good and dip it with their spicy sauce that they have on the side! It tastes pretty good! The spicy sauce isn't too spicy so it's the right kick for this dish. My boyfriend actually like the spicy sauce and wanted to take it home. The noodles were cook just right and the veggies were fresh. I try the sauce that's used in this dish, it's a bit salty on its own but it's not salty when the noodles, meat, and veggies! This dish is really cheap; $5. Most dishes here are very cheap! I would order this again. The beef stew soup and cold jelly noodles also looked good. I'll try those time along with hotpot. read more

Came to Chong Qing which is located inside a small food court for lunch! Make sure you bring cash though! There were a lot of options with television screens and pictures of food items to help decide. We decided on the Crispy Chicken with Garlic Sauce with medium heat. It was really tasty and packed a nice heat. The chicken was way more crispy than I thought it would be and was still extremely moist. This packed a great bang for your buck. This entree was around ~$9 and is easily 2 meals and we took home leftovers. Chong Qing has free rice, hot and sour soup, and egg drop soup. You'll definitely want to take advantage of the free rice to eat with your entrees. The egg drop and hot and sour soup you'll want to skip. The flavor wasn't there and it was like drinking food colored water practically. I didn't factor those into the review as it was completely free so I didn't feel like I wasted any money! Would definitely come here again! read more
You can find Chong Qing Hot Pot in the China Town Mall at 5385 New Peachtree Rd, Atlanta, GA 30341. China Town Mall is tucked away off of New Peachtree Rd - I've generally heard the area referred to as Chinatown but that may be due to the mall's location - there are other Chinese businesses in about a one mile radius, but I don't know if the local population warrants the name - I think it's more about the businesses. China Town Mall is one of Atlanta's best kept secrets - featuring a good ethnic food court that's heavily visited during lunch. On this weekday early evening we were in the area and decided to hit the Chong Qing Hot Pot. The food to my tastes is more towards the traditional Chinese as opposed to the swag Americanized Chinese you get a places like Panda Express. This is a food court so the dining hall is shared - what you'll find at Chong Qing are hot pots and good inexpensive Chinese dishes. The menu for the most part is handwritten on whiteboards behind the counter - there's also a takeout menu so you can order ahead and pick up or pick up and eat in the mall - you can't get much simpler. The board features vegetables, Fried Rice/Lo Mein, Hot Pots and Noodle Soups. You'll find the prices super cheap but don't let that fool you - the food here is way above average, especially for food court food. Once you order they call out when it's ready - there's a kettle of tea, sweet-and-sour soup and steamed rice on the counter where you can help yourself. Make sure you get chopsticks and anything else you need while you're up there (don't worry I always forget to grab something). On this night we went with the string beans and a Szechuan style Chong Qing Spicy Chicken. While some of the ingredients in the beans were a bit light the flavors still pulled through in this classic dish - the portion is very large and good for sharing - as I recall all the veggie portions are generous. I think the veggies are really well prepared here and that this is a good destination for vegetarians. The Chicken, frankly wasn't on par with Gu's or Peter Chang's Tasty China, but was still very good and filling. I think it's the type of dried peppers used or perhaps it's the whole pepper as presented instead of cut pieces - these don't have the level of intensity or spiciness. For $7.95 I don't have anything to complain about. In fact our entire meal for two people was about $15. Speaking of costs - make sure you bring cash. (also posted to my food blog) read more

Came here bc of mikey chen and it did NOT disappoint!! got 3 dishes and it was only $36.. couldn't believe it. They also have unlimited rice and free soup that comes with your order. Spicy and good food, especially considering the price. It is heavy, so eat accordingly. The Szechuan Fish was delicious, and even better the next day with leftovers. This review update for Chong Qing Hot Pot is for one dish and one dish only: the Chong Qing chicken. This is a great Sichuan dish that is also known as Shan City chicken at Tasty China and Peter Chang's. It consists of several chopped and deep-fried boneless chunks of chicken stir-fried and tossed with a plethora of red Sichuan chili peppers. Two people ordered this dish at the UYE (http://www.yelp.com/events/atlanta-buford-highway-uye-chinatown-food-court) a few days ago. It's a pretty intense dish. Very flavorful not only because of the peppers, but also because of the salt and other seasonings that are used to prepare this dish. Because of all the sodium and oil, it's not a healthy dish, but boy does it taste good. It's best that this dish is shared. It's not as spicy as it looks unless you eat the peppers themselves (which I like to do, but only a few). Another deceiving thing about all the peppers is there is not as much meat on the plate as you think. The pieces are small and they are concealed by the peppers. Chong Qing Hot Pot seems to be the current king of the Atlanta Chinatown food court. The owner is certainly dedicated. read more
I'm a fan of this place. They have tons of pictures so it's easy to order for someone who doesn't read Chinese or wants to order by pictures. They are also very friendly and quick with the orders. I'm also a fan of their side soups, rice, water and tea that's all included with your order. Makes it feel like a real restaurant instead of a food court restaurant. Thought the green bean dish was excellent but wish the chicken dish had more of a char grilled taste to it. Enjoyed both dishes though and will be back soon! read more
This is inside the food court. The owner is very friendly. He stopped by twice to check on us. We ordered the spicy beef and tendon cold dish as appetizer. It is not saucy like other places and on the saltier end. I had better flavors elsewhere. We had the hot and sour potatoes, spicy diced chicken, and spicy broiled fish. The portion size is huge. The chicken dish was crunchy and spicy but it was missing the "numbing" spicy we were looking for. The spicy broiled fish was tender but again lacking flavor and it was a bit too oily. The potatoes were nice and crunchy and it wasn't too oily. read more
You know when you look at a food picture and you salivate just from the THOUGHT of how good it will be. That's how I felt after reading these reviews. Chong Qing is located in a food court in a small Asian shopping plaza that has been there for as long as I can remember. With that said, parking can be a challenge since it is quite cramped and Asians can't drive or park so be careful. This isn't racism. This is merely an observation. Anyways, this is a very low key place. You order at the cashier area. The owner who is very informative will bring out your meal to your table. Get as much white rice or hot and sour or egg drop soup as you want. Although, I would skip the soups. It's essentially colored water. We ordered the most popular dishes here. Chong Qing aka Spicy Chicken: Reminded me a lot of the Taiwanese fried chicken nuggets. Too much sodium and not enough other seasoning for me. There was way more peppers than actual chicken pieces. Spicy Seafood Hot Pot: Very good although a little bit oily. The flaky big pieces of fish fillet were the best part. I recall squid and some pieces of shrimp but mostly glass noodles and cabbage. Not much else in terms of seafood. Good soup base. Dan Dan Noodles: LOVE the soy sauce. The other peanut sauce at the bottom of the bowl was too creamy for my taste and I thought the aftertaste was weird so we were glad we didn't stir up our bowl and mixed everything without trying. As excited as I was to try this place, I wouldn't make a special trip here. If I was in the area, I might consider trying another hot pot here. read more
