I really enjoyed the flavor and crispness of the chicken and the crunchiness of the egg roll. Fried rice was ok but was surprised it didn't have veggies. Lighting and authentic Chinese food couId improve. We ordered Won Ton soup, chow mein and sweet and sour. It was very disgusting! The food was very greasy and I could have made the won ton soup better with more stuff in the soup. The won top soup had very little filling in it and very little vegetables and tasted very plain! I thought I just wanted to give an honest assessment and don't want to offend the owners of the restaurant. I think their prices are high based on what is offered on the menu. I am Chinese and come from the SF Bay Area and probably spoiled a bit. But I think they need to hire some Chinese experienced chefs. The locals including us that live in the Westhaven area probably don't know what real Chinese food taste like! I think Panda Express is better than Ching Asian Bistro at the moment! read more

This was my first time eating at Ching Asian Bistro. Being new to Westhaven I want to try their Chinese food. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken with fried rice. The fried rice was lacking as it looked and tasted as if they only added soy sauce. No veggies or protein. The Kung pow chicken was a good size for a to go order and it was delicious. The veggies were cooked to perfection. I would order the Kung Pow Chicken again with steam rice. Although I got my order to go, the service was quick and correct. We ordered three different dishes and unfortunately none of them were very appetizing. The flavors were underwhelming and the food just didn't live up to expectations. The one bright spot was the green beans, which were actually delicious. On a positive note, the people working there were very nice and welcoming. It took us several years to find a great Chinese restaurant . We would drive nearly 50 minutes in rush hour traffic to dine at Ching's Asian Bistro when we lived in Nashville. It was worth the drive ! Now that we live 10 minutes away, it has become our neighborhood eatery. We rated it 5 Stars 8 years ago and I can only say ---it's even better now (if that was even possible). They have fast and friendly service, delicious Chinese food and a large menu. Anything on the menu is superb, some of our favorites are: General Sao Chicken House Fried Rice Tempura Shrimp Chicken Low Mein Mushu Chicken Sweet & Sour Chicken My husband and daughter and family love the Beef Egg Fu Young. Way overpriced.... mediocre at best. small servings as well. ordered a house salad. It's literally comes on a tiny tea plate. It's a handful of Romain with a couple thin slices of avocado seven dollars. The rainbow roll, most expensive roll gangly looking & small. Zero presentation the wasabi is Artificial and died nothing looks fresh the only price right thing in here is their beer. I'll never step foot in this place again. Ok so I've eaten here twice now and I haven't been disappointed. It's a small restaurant but they have plenty of seating. The staff is friendly and attentive. They have a regular menu and they offer lunch specials. They have a small sushi bar and offers a few chairs but the cash register is there so is doesn't seem very comfortable to eat at. I've used them to wait on my food before. They also have a few tables outside. I have tried their chicken fried rice and their Chicken Lo Mein. I've love their veggie egg rolls and the sauce that comes with it. Their wonton soup is also very good and the filling of the wonton is too. Their portions are fair comparing to other Chinese restaurants. I definitely come here once in a while when I'm working in Franklin and recommend it if you're in the area. read more

WHAT!!! Why did it take me FOUR years to get this again?!!! I'm so annoyed at myself!! It's a Friday night, we ordered through GrubHub and it came pretty much on time and the sweet girl delivering was great! The food was warm, packaged great (no leaking), order accuracy - check! My husband and I both got things we haven't in the past. I got chicken fried rice (it's soooo good!!), the egg rolls were the best I've had anywhere in a long time, and oh a whim I wanted to try the green bean entree ($8.95) which was an amazing choice!! I only wish I would have gotten two orders of egg rolls instead of just one. Everything was flavorful and tasted really fresh, and I'm hands down a believer in Ching! Husbands review just in on the Generals Chicken: 4/5 but to him 5/5 is perfect. He did add the green beans were 5/5 though!!! Ok can wait for our next Chings experience!! This has been my go-to Chinese food location for the past 4 years I've been in Nashville. The family that owns/run the restaurant is always so welcoming, and after one or two visits they remember you (how nice is that). The food is/has always been consistent and delicious. My "regular" entrees are either Kung pao chicken or the Mongolian beef, and their spring rolls taste like the ones my mom and grandmother used to make. Everything is flavorful and tasty! I spent 6 months trying to find a Chinese food spot that reminded me of some of my old west coast local spots - I'm so happy I found this little neighborhood (Westhaven) gem. The ambiance is typical of most Chinese restaurants in the 21st century. The people were an absolute delight. The service was fast, but not rushed. The food was great! I had shrimp in lobster sauce. The shrimp was so incredibly fresh and the sauce was wonderful. My husband had a mixed vegetable chicken dish that he thought was excellent. He also had Hot N' Sour soup which he thoroughly enjoyed. We ordered egg rolls which were, what in New York, we would call Spring rolls. But they were the best we have ever had and were filled with lots of cabbage and other shredded vegetables. read more

Our go-to is honey chicken! Better than orange chicken - I tell you! We also tried general chicken and it was delicious (not that spicy by the way- it's almost like honey chicken but teeny tiny bit of heat- I might even ask for it spicier next time). The fried green beans are delicious and the portion is HUGE! I didn't have high hopes on the sushi but their fish is fresh and their sushi is delicious! I actually want to get more sushi next time :) I just tried their tuna roll and I could tell that the tuna was fresh. My husband had veggie roll and avocado roll and they were both yummy as well. (Oh but their teriyaki chicken wasn't that great - I tried a bite when someone else got it.. I absolutely love Chings! I used to work in Westhaven and would get Chings every other week or sometimes EVERY WEEK! The employees are super nice and the food always comes out really quick! I would occasionally work remote from Chings or their outdoor patio. The staff was always great about letting me stick around to work and would continue to bring me refills or anything that I needed! You really can't go wrong with anything at Chings, but my go to is always the Chicken Broccoli! I do sub out the sauce and get the brown sauce instead. And it is always delicious! Their fried rice and spring rolls are delicious as well! One bummer is that they are closed in Mondays- this was always a huge let down when I was craving Chings on random Mondays! read more

Every time I come back to my parents house in Franklin from out of town, I come here. Used to eat here a lot more back in high school, and winter/ summer breaks in college living at my parents house close to Westhaven. The lo mein sticks out the most to me, from every other chinese restaurant I've been to, has such a better flavor. I also usually get a sushi roll, which I vary up. I think it's cool to be able to do both Chinese and Japanese at the same time. Steamed dumplings like the filling of better than other places. Maybe I'm biased since a friend I had in high school still works there, her parents own it. So maybe biased but they really do have some things that make them stand out. It's always cost a little more than some other places, I think you get what you pay for though, higher quality ingredients, better flavor like was saying. For some reason Christmas Eve was super busy night for them when I ordered take out, busier than I ever remember them being. They just told us the wait time though, and actually got it ready sooner than they said. read more

Just had Christmas Eve lunch at Ching Asian bistro... It was absolutely fabulous. Party of eight, we were seated immediately and attended to by their lovely staff. Our appetizers came out immediately which were salads and the spring rolls, our drinks were exactly what we ordered, and when the entrées came out they were hot and delicious. Everyone received their orders without any hesitation and the staff was gracious. Extra napkins, spoons, knives, chopsticks, refills of ice tea and water... All done. We go here on occasion but will definitely be here more often after this excellent service.Several of the people in our party ordered generals chicken, sesame chicken, teriyaki salmon but the star of the day was the shrimp and beef lo mein. Wonder Szechuan style Chinese food. I lived in the SF bay area for a long time, which was known for its amazing Chinese restaurants, and Ching's is the closest I have had in America outside the bay to that quality. From the egg rolls, the general chicken, the green beans, to the fried rice and lo mein, we enjoy every bite, everytime. This is a pan Asian restaurant that's not quite certain if it's Chinese, Japanese, or Thai or something in between. Coming out of California, it's definitely not Chinese. It's not Japanese, it's not Thai, and it's not Vietnamese. We had some of the "Chinese" dishes. I don't know what region it was supposed to be from, but it wasn't from any that I recognized. My wife is from China, I've eaten Chinese food in New York, LA, San Francisco, Miami,and London, as well as Nashville and smaller environs. We weren't pleased, but everyone has a bad night. It's not often as a yelper that I go to check in at one of our favorite spots, and find that other yelpers have obviously not discovered a place. If you are a Franklin resident or not, you need to check out this adorable little Chinese place that is in the posh Westhaven subdivision west of Franklin proper, out Highway 96. Ching's isn't a big place, I think there's only about 15 tables in the whole place. It's family owned, and as you look around you might wonder why one wall is papered in a feminine oriental tea pattern, and the other is a darker copper accented Chinese letter pattern. Like often happens in marriages, that's because the husband and wife owners couldn't agree, so they picked both. This is NOT a buffet Chinese restaurant, you are seated and order your entree of choice that comes on a larger plate ideal for shaing and your choice of fried or white rice. They have all the usuals you are probably expecting: Cashew Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, Seafood Delight... and whatever you choose, your order if prepared fresh just for you. It's very reasonably priced, the Cashew Chicken that I enjoyed Saturday is like $8.95, hubby's Beef and Broccoli is like $9.95. Beer and wine are offered, and they have good wonton soup for a starter or our favorite, crab rangoons. I know, it's really cream cheese with a touch of crab rolled in a dumpling they fry... unhealthy by any accounts, but delicious so I don't care. It's a neighborhood kind of place, tons of to-go orders stream in and out from Westhaveners enjoying life and grabbing a quick dinner. The servers are nice, young folks for the most part that all speak English, many appear to be many folks from Westhaven and not Asian at all. Ching's isn't an overly remarkable place, except for the fact that Cool Springs in all its splendor really doesn't have a good non-buffet Chinese place that isn't a Japenese hibachi type of P.F. Chang's. I love the smaller, independently owned shops, and this one is just our style. You can use chopsticks, you can use a fork - no judgement. If you visit on a pretty weekend day, Westhaven does have a pond out front of this portion of the strip shopping center where they rent canoes and paddleboats. If you haven't toured Westhaven at all, please do and drive thry admiring the great houses, commons areas and parks. And yes, the developer who created Seaside, Florida of "Truman Show" fame did develop Westhaven... and it's just as cute as you imagine. Word to visitors from areas other than Franklin, pay close attention to speed limits on Highway 96 venturing out of Franklin to here. Franklin Police are serious, and this is a favorite area for ticketing. But other than that, do visit! read more
