Service was bad and the food was only okay. I was one of four tables in the dining area that were occupied and my server never checked on me till she brought the bill. I had an empty drink for a good majority of my meal. The sushi rolls on their lunch menu were so lackluster. They were very small and felt like they were barely filled. It seems like a good deal on paper, but once the meal is in front of you, the price makes sense. I was still hungry after the sushi rolls so I ordered some nigiri, which was pretty good. I won't be back. read more

One of my go-to lunch spots whenever I'm craving Japanese food. The sushi is always fresh, beautifully prepared, and consistently hits the mark. Today I went with a few specialty rolls, a salmon and avocado roll, and a fresh side salad--everything was flavorful and plated well. The atmosphere is clean, modern, and relaxing, making it a great place to slow down for lunch whether you're dining solo or meeting friends. Service has always been friendly and attentive without being overbearing. If you're looking for quality sushi, generous portions, and a consistently enjoyable experience, this place is definitely worth adding to your regular rotation. I'll definitely be back... again. read more

We love this place. We always enjoy sitting at the tables and having the robots bring us our food. The staff are great and food is very tasty. Good portions... oh and the sushi is always very good. I get delivery from here often via Uber Eats and they prepare their to-go bags perfectly so everything stays like it should. read more

This was my first visit here. Food was super delicious for hibachi! The only thing is that the portion is a lot smaller than other hibachi places. However the service was very nice. They have a robot to entertain kids. Will definitely be back! read more

Takumi is an all-around great spot for any occasion and has become my wife's and my favorite weekend destination. We primarily go for the hibachi, which is phenomenal, but the sushi and other menu items are also excellent. The staff is always friendly and, given how frequently we visit, consistently attentive and responsive. We typically dine in the standard seating area, but we have also experienced the hibachi seating and found it to be comparable to other hibachi restaurants. What really sets Takumi apart, however, is the addition of food-delivery robots that bring your meals directly to the table when they are ready. It's a fun touch and, perhaps fittingly, another reason the service has always been so efficient! read more

90 minute wait after being seated for chef to arrive. Some problem with the ticket led to another 5-10 minute delay as the chef had to get more protein and fried rice, and making sure that everyone knew that the waitress had screwed up. We had three kids with us who had never been to hibachi and the chef was just off the presentation game tonight (no choo choo onion train, no banter, no tossing rice, etc.), but the food was really well prepared and tasty. Unfortunately the delay and the resulting confusion tainted the experience for us significantly. Our waitress Allegra was extremely apologetic but they didn't have enough chefs to handle the load tonight and there was nothing she could do about that. It was over two hours and the temperature was too hot especially for the duration of the wait and toughest on the youngest kid. read more

Came here on Christmas day for dinner. The hostess were very welcoming once I walked through the doors. I know hibachi is usually for large parties, so I sat at the bar. I found it very spaceous and perfect for a party of 1. Wendy was my server and she was so great! I ordered hibachi and crab ragoons. Both were very delicious. I really want to highlight my server Wendy! She made my experience really warm on a day that could have been very lonely. I'd gladly come back to have her lovely hospitality. read more

Takumi Hibachi - Sushi Bars Near Me - Franklin, Tennessee

My first time at Hibachi and I could NOT have asked for anything better. This was absolutely incredible. My server was Justin, and he was so sweet and welcoming! I ordered a Shirakiku Japanese soda in lychee- and it was actually ice cold. Our appetizers were fast, and the salad and mushroom soup were great. A minute after, the chef for our group walked in. Tom was our chef, and he made sure our food was delicious and that we were laughing the whole time. From cracking jokes to tossing rice in people's mouths to setting things on fire, this is definitely one of the top experiences I've ever had. I ordered the Hibachi Salmon and Chicken Combo with Hibachi Fried Rice. Literally immaculate. The food was cooked perfectly, my family's steaks being cooked to order as well. The flavor was spot on, and the yum-yum sauce is to die for, especially when paired with their spicy sauce. If you're in the area, this place is definitely worth the stop. Justin and Tom were both amazing to us, incredible people. 10/10 would recommend! (PS: the little server robots are so adorable) read more

Favorite hibachi place in Nashville! They have great lunch specials and the food is always so good

Sad to see it, but I echo recent reviews that this place has struggled to maintain the standard they had when they first opened. On a recent visit solo at a time they were not busy at all, waited literally 15 minutes after being seated to finally flag down a server myself to take my order. In the meantime, I watched the servers fully ignoring me, waiting around, doing nothing (talking to each other by the bar) or doing trivial things like straightening the salt and pepper on tables. It seems the server later forgot about my food so waited a long time for my food to actually come as well. On this recent visit, the food was still good but in past recent visits it's been inconsistent and is sometimes overly salty or not seasoned properly at all. I've learned to always double check my check here because there is a waitress who has messed up my check not once, not twice, but multiple times. When this place hits, it's amazing, but it's struggling to do that consistently these days. read more

This place was absolutely fabulous in terms of quality and presentation. We had the golden dog roll, pretty woman roll, fire takumi, tempura, rice, crab rangoon, and many, many other items. I stopped by here in the Fall and it was good. Stopped by recently and wasn't the same experience. Chef Jeff was awesome and he gets 5 stars. The place was looking a bit rough, probably because it was a busy night. Drinks were great BUT the food was Meh. The Omega roll literally had flavor. We had to wasabi and ginger it up. Someone in our party found hard plastic in their sushi roll, it was comped but that's always a damper. The hibachi chicken was great and so was the fried rice. But veggies were off and the noodles were too sweet. All in all it was just okay. The bill was pricey - lots of food but taste was meh. read more

Dined in on a Saturday evening ~5 p.m. without a wait. Their dining room has the largest TV screen(s) we've ever seen in our lives so would be great for a watch party if they'll stream the channel you want ;) Servers were very professional and friendly and we absolutely loved the food! So... it's been a few years since posting on Takumi Hibachi.... And this review is just as great as the last; but I took a picture this time instead of eating it all. I have been coming back multiple times over the last 2 years for bday celebrations and a quiet lunch once in a while by myself. The sushi is just as fresh and delicious as it was 2 years ago. The hibachi experience is fun but my true appreciation lies in the fish. They have the best lunch sushi deals around and the highest quality at that price. Will keep returning. Thanks Takumi. Service is a little slow to start but everyone is very friendly and the ambiance is nice for a quiet weekday lunch. read more

Very disappointed with our experience at Takumi. My family and I arrived at 2:02 PM, but we were told, "We stop serving hibachi at 2:00 PM," and were refused service--even though their posted hours say they close at 2:30 PM. If hibachi stops 30 minutes before closing, that should be clearly stated on the sign or online so customers don't waste their time driving there. Closing at 2:30 should mean customers can expect to be served until then, or at least be informed of any earlier kitchen cutoff. This was frustrating and left a bad first impression. read more

The hibachi experience is certainly entertaining, and the food is good. We found the service was somewhat inattentive, and more attention should be paid to cleaning. This was our first visit, so we opted for a seat at one of the hibachi tables rather than the regular tables. While this was entertaining and fun, in the future I would sit at a regular table on the assumption you would get all your food at one time. With the hibachi we opted for fried rice, so that was made first and then served onto our plates. While we were eating the fried rice (so it wouldn't get cold) the chef cooked the vegetables and served them. So we naturally started eating the vegetables while the chef cooked the meat. By the time the meat was served I was mostly done with the rice and vegetables, and starting to feel a little full. So the flow wasn't great, but the experience was certainly entertaining. The food was good, but not great. We had filet mignon, which was tender but didn't have much flavor (but they do put a yummy sauce on the table, which helped). I also had shrimp, which were good. We plan to try the sushi next time in the hopes that it will be more impressive. The space is quite large, with a huge television in the main dining area with the hibachi area in a separate room that has rollup doors that don't open anymore (they were left over from the restaurant that used to occupy the space). The menus we were given had oil or grease on them, and that got transferred to our plates that the hostess put the menus on. Those ended up being the plates they put our food on, which was a bit unappetizing. While the hibachi experience was fun, I wouldn't opt for that again. Fortunately they do have a pretty wide selection on the menu, so we'll give them another chance in the future and hope for a better experience. But it was good enough that we will try them again. read more

The atmosphere was absolutely amazing and stunning--very luxurious! The food was up to par, and I especially loved the Crunch Munch sushi. The chicken katsu was a solid 10/10, perfectly done. The gyoza I'd rate 8/10, only because I personally prefer a different cooking style than the oil-fried version. The Japanese soda (Ramune) was a fun touch--it came in a 6.7 fl.oz bottle, which felt a little small for a 'large.' I would have appreciated a little help opening it or having it poured into a cup since the bottle can be tricky. I also loved the little robot going back and forth--it was so cute and added to the fun atmosphere! Pricing is nice and fair for such amazing food. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and would definitely come back! read more

This was our first visit here and we really enjoyed it. The food was delicious and the sushi portions were larger than other local places. Our server Johnny was very nice. Had high hopes when we made reservations. Horrible website is the first issue. Order, reservations, hours are all wrong and don't work. Got there at 11a for our lunch res. Waited 10min for anyone to come to the desk. They were not ready. Sat at our table and another 15min before the server came. Chef wasn't even there, and finally got to the table at 12:15. He had zero personality, not friendly. Constantly turned head to cough (yuck). $3 extra for fried rice, which he overcooked. They charge if you want to take sauce with you to go order. Filet was good, but shrimp was very fishy tasting. Watery ginger dressing. Food was mediocre at best. Definitely a 1 and done for us. read more

Stopped in here for a late afternoon lunch by myself. I walked in at sat at the bar and was greeted by a server right away. This place is very clean & quiet. The lunch menu goes til 2pm on the weekends so I was able to order off the lunch menu. I ordered the steak & shrimp hibachi combo. This is a great value as it comes with soup & salad (as well as fried rice served with the meat). The soup was so flavorful! The food was excellent and the portion was huge! I like that the side of yum yum sauce was automatically included & I didn't even have to ask for it! The steak, shrimp, rice, & vegetables were all cooked perfectly! My server was great & my water glass never reached below half full. read more

Went to Takumi tonight with my dad. We ordered the following: French fries - 5/5 Didn't honestly expect much from these but they were fresh, just the right crunch, and really delicious! Hit the spot just right. Takumi Popcorn Chicken - 4/5 Also was not what I expected. I think I expected more karrage like but still pretty delicious. My dad really liked it. Only comment is there could have been slightly more. Sushi and Sashimi Combo for 2 - 5/5 As someone from the east coast who has worked in sushi restaurants, I've never had sushi this fresh in Tennessee all the years I've lived here. The tuna and salmon were fresh and creamy. They tasted like they were just shipped in. The makrel and Madai was also really delicious. Black caviar - 3.5/5 Was not my personal favorite. My dad likes caviar but he wasn't not super impressed. Still good overall, but not our favorite. They also have really cute robots that deliver food to you. They had a stage as well for live music and said they have concerts sometime. Definitely a really vibey place and would definitely come again. read more

This place has spectacular decor and is a lot of fun; the robot server is amusing and hibachi is always fun. The plating on the sushi is gorgeous. I was very impressed by the ambiance. Now, for the food. The food is very fresh and the hibachi overall was good; the sushi flavor is nice. The seasoning could use a boost and the tempura was dry and hard. Our group wanted dessert, and was originally offered ice cream or cheesecake, but then the offer was withdrawn and we were told it was only for birthdays. That was disappointing. Why offer if you don't have it? They then came back with "birthday cheesecake" for the kids to split. We appreciated it but the whole thing was a little odd. Overall, though, pretty good. My family has been going to Takumi at least monthly for the last couple of years. The food is solid. It's not waygu, it's not superb cuisine, but it's solid and consistent. The service is good enough - also consistent. My kids love the robots, they love the "smoke" stack, they love the experience. I like that it's laid back, informal, and easy to just chill. My husband and I have lived all over the country and know Michelin Star cuisine. If you pay Hibachi prices, and you get a consistently decent experience, and the family is happy, it's worth 5 stars. My wife and I came here for a dinner date, so we sat at a private table rather than the one around the Hibachi live counter. We ordered tempura chicken sushi and Japanese fried rice. Takumi Hibachi is a fairly new addition to the Franklin/Cool Springs food scene, and just opened at the beginning of 2023. It is located in the shopping plaza on Cool Springs Boulevard alongside Trader Joe's, Starbucks, Drake's, and much more. Given it's location, parking is plentiful. Takumi is mainly known for their hibachi, but they also have a full sushi bar! So, if you are interested in sushi and a cocktail, they got you...or if you are like me and want sushi, sake and hibachi...they also got you! We had a group of 9 coming in on a Tuesday evening, so we called and made a reservation. Heads up that they will not seat your party until they all arrive, and if they do allow it, they will need everyone's food order before being sat. This is done to keep the show moving, and I can respect it. Lucky for us, our party was all arriving together, so we got to belly up to the hibachi table immediately! To start, several of the group ordered appetizers including yakitori chicken, edamame, gyoza and a couple of sushi rolls to share. They came out fairly quickly and were served by a robot! Such a cool little dude delivering the goods to us on multiple occasions! For dinner, we of course all got hibachi, and of course in multiple variations including chicken, shrimp, steak and scallops. The hibachi is served with all the standards including clear soup, ginger salad, rice, veggies, protein and of course, a show! Average Hibachi price is around $27 pp. To wash all the food down, several of us got a combination of cold and hot sakes, along with a few Kirin's and cocktails. Overall, our visit and experience was solid. read more

I've now been here twice, once for sushi lunch, with girlfriends, and the other for hibachi dinner with my husband. Very glad there is an additional option for both in the cool Springs area. How could you not love a place that has a robot that will deliver your entrée sometimes, not sure when it's the robot, and when it's the human, but I also witnessed the robot singing happy birthday to a young lady at our hibachi table. The sushi was quite good, my table mates, enjoyed a quite reasonably priced bottle of nice sake, and our hibachi dinner was quite good as well. I would say four thumbs up! read more

It was clean, aesthetic was nice, our hibachi chef was friendly and entertaining, and food was good. We had a 6pm reservation and weren't seated until about 6:45. I understand the limited seating at the hibachi tables and that reservations are dependent on the guests leaving but 45 minutes seemed excessive and they could have communicated a little bit better with the wait time. Some felt the chicken was bland, but everyone at our table agreed this was the best hibachi option in the area and overall we enjoyed it. read more
