This is a restaurant located down the street from me. It's been there for years. But, I just recently dined there at the request of a friend. Oh my goodness, I've been missing out! The food was absolutely delicious the first time I went. I got an Hibachi bento box and liked it so much I had my husband go with me. On top of the seats having cracks so big you fall through the booth, the communication is very difficult to convey what you want so you can get what you asked for.... The menus are so old they're hard to read... when I asked if I can modify a roll, it came out not at all what i asked for and an up-charge of $10... this is the only sushi place in this area and they get busy because it's the only option... but this place really disappoints the sushi veteran consumer. read more

I'm not sure why we don't frequent here more often. Went on Friday night and it was packed. (they do a brisk takeout business so that is an option if the dine in is full). We ordered the Fire Dragon roll to share as appetizer. Our server informed us they were a bit backed up on those, but we were okay with waiting. It turned out to be a not very long wait and she put our dinner orders in when the roll was almost out so things flowed smoothly for the dinner. Fire Dragon roll was really good, such a nice crunch and the avocados were perfect with the Salmon etc. I ordered a Shrimp Teriyaki Bento box with Vegetable Tempura, Fried rice and California roll. Everything was so good and freshly cooked when it arrived at the table. Vegetables Tempura were fresh from the fryer hot and so tasty! I could probably make a meal of just those. The Shrimp Teriyaki was fresh and delicious also. The Bento Box is a lot and I couldn't finish but fortunately there were others in the party who helped me out. Service was great and they were busy! I tried a few different kinds of sushi here and wasn't too impressed overall. I ordered a shrimp tempura roll, an asparagus roll, and egg nigiri. The egg looked way overpriced at first ($3.25!) but when it arrived, it turned out to be 2 pieces...that's not so bad. The egg itself was pretty good - sweet as it's supposed to be. The rice underneath, though, was really bland. It had a tiny hint of plain vinegar, but no sweetness at all. Of course, the same rice was used for the rolls too, so the complaint carries over. The shrimp tempura and asparagus tempura were actually both pretty tasty and crispy. The asparagus roll had too much spicy mayo on top, but the mayo did help offset the blandness of the rice. The servers were friendly, accurate, and quick. I like the laid back environment and the fact that there's ample free parking outside. It's too bad, if they had properly seasoned sushi rice, they probably would've gotten a solid 4 stars from me. read more

Wasn't planning to eat here but saw a steady flow of customers coming out of this place. I'm glad I did. I ordered the tempura shrimp and tornado roll. The shrimp was good but the roll was outstanding. It was flavorful and had the right amount of shrimp and crab. And they were very busy but my order was ready in about 10 minutes. The service was great and they offered to get me a drink while I waited. This will be my new go-to sushi place when I'm in the area visiting. read more

Miso Japanese Restaurant in Franklin is a casual, no-frills sushi & Japanese food restaurant. It is located in a shopping center with plenty of parking and seems to be a neighborhood favorite. My friend and I met here for dinner on a weeknight and it was packed. Their menu is actually not just limited to sushi and Japanese. I noticed that they have Thai and even Vietnamese pho. Their prices are all really reasonable. We decided to share two rolls and the vegetable and shrimp tempura. The tempura ($5.95) was pretty good and was brought out to our table quickly. The fire dragon roll ($8.50) was definitely our indulgent pick as it was salmon, avocado & cream cheese and the whole roll is deep fried and covered in sauce. This roll was a bit too rich for me with all of those fatty foods all in one roll. The white snake roll ($13) was the standout of the meal to me. It is one of the newer additions to their specialty roll menu. The inside is spicy crab & shrimp tempura and the outside had white tuna. It was drizzled in a wasabi sauce with lime and sriracha. Although it sounds like it would be really spicy it only had a small kick to it. I would definitely order this one again. I think Miso is a good restaurant and I'd give them another shot. I think that it matters what you order here since I enjoyed the tempura and the white snake roll but I didn't care for the fire dragon. The service was a bit spotty towards the end but otherwise pretty good as well. read more

This place is probably my go to when it comes to sushi; great quality, good flavors, and always consistent. My only gripe would be that the service is slow even when not that busy. I understand fresh sushi takes a lot of time to prepare but nearly 60 min wait times is not ideal. Let me start by saying I don't really ever give a bad review. I'll make an exception here... we decided to take a much deserved night out with our son and his friend. Instead of having an enjoyable time and good meal what we got was a 2 hour ( yes 2 hour ) wait for our food which never came till we were fed up and out the door. $70 for grocery level sushi ( actually Whole Foods is much better) to bring home and waste our whole evening with hungry kids and every table around us experiencing the same situation. I'm surprised there wasn't a mutiny as everyone was pissed. Their take out business was doing great as that was apparently the only orders they were making and all the people dining in was left to starve. As an accommodation we were rewarded with 2 tiny off brand sodas . Wow they really know how to do damage control! Had family friends not suggested Miso, I would not have found it on my own. Boy, am I happy they did. We walked in and my number two son, right away, says the feng shui is good, Mom. Feels good in here. We arrived earlier than our dinner companions and so settled in and ordered apps: fred oysters (panko crusted--super hot, pretty tasty), soft shelled crab (lightly dredged in tapioca, crispy, tasty), edamame--naked, unadorned. In perusing the menu, we got lots of attention from Ron, the proprietor's son, who enlightened me that "Larmen" on the menu Is actually "ramen." The clouds parted and heavenly rays framed his head. "What?!" I asked incredulously? You have ramen here? Sure he says. I sat in stunned contemplation for about 30 seconds. Shook myself and ordered the miso ramen, post haste. Our dinner companions arrived and ordered plum wine. Huh? This has never occurred to me to do and I would describe myself as a crusty pro of asian restos. One of my dinner companions shared her cold plum wine and it was delicious! Note to self, underlined in bold. Plum wine. There is a fulsome selection of wine and beer. The kids at our table ordered a dizzying array of sushi and sashimi. Gluten free requests were enthusiastically received and the one kid in our party who needs this attention ate his food with relish and abandon--unusual for him, who is often gun shy b/c some food causes him pain. I almost cried to watch him eat with such trust and relish. There is also pho on the menu. A solid bowl. There is also Japanese roasted mackerel. Yes! Hand rolls, too. These guys are honest about their takeout wait times, and they deliver strong product. It's not too easy to find places with menus this big that actually do a good job on every corner of that menu. My only issue over YEARS of getting their food has ever been that one time the tempura batter wasn't perfect. That's over the course of probably 50 visits.
