I've been to Kosho many times in the last year + that they have been open and have always had the BEST experience. The service and kindness of every staff member that works here is above & beyond most restaurants. They always have fun, creative new specials or menu items that are exciting & always flavorful. The lounge area is a perfect golden hour spot to enjoy their fantastic happy hour specials. One of my all-time favorite restaurants. Not just in Nashville, but anywhere!

My favorite restaurant in Nashville after 4 years of trying new places every week. They are so kind and the atmosphere is just perfect. We've had 2 birthday dinners here and many celebrations. The toasts, potstickers, crispy rice, ube banana pudding, boa buns, and hot pot are all must haves. Emphasis on the ube banana pudding. You can't go without trying!! I love this place beyond words.

What a treat!! It's so refreshing to see amazing Asian food in Nashville. I love the concept of Kosho with Asian small plates, handrolls, shabu shabu, and izakaya skewers. We learned that the menu changes over time, which is exciting. We came for Valentine's Day and sat at the counter so we got a front row seat to everything. Nick was truly the best! We got to chat with him a little and he provided exceptional customer service. Will was our server and he gave really good recommendations and made sure we had a great night. Every single item was FIRE and sooo good! Shabu shabu: this was impressive as you get to pick one of three broths (sukiyaki, miso, kombu ) and you can even do 50/50 of the broths. We chose sukiyaki broth which is a little sweet like teriyaki. For meats, we picked the wagyu beef, which was freshly thinly sliced when ordered. The meat literally melted in our mouth. It also came with veggies, tofu, and ramen noodles which was a great touch. Great portions for 2 people. Unagi crispy rice: Get it!! That crispy rice was perfectly crisped and the unagi flavor was amazing. Wagyu handroll: the Wagyu beef melted in our mouths, so good. Highly recommended. Spicy tuna handroll: very fresh and delicious Shrimp garlic noodles: sooo flavorful, lots of garlic flavors For drinks, I got the lychee martini and it was the perfect level of sweetness. You really taste the lychee which I loved. For dessert, we tried the ube banana pudding. Great ube flavors and the banana pudding was light and so good. I can't wait to come back and try other things !

My husband and I came here last weekend to celebrate his birthday. It is the perfect spot! We tried so many things off the menu, and they were all delicious! Our server helped us navigate which options were raw and what would be pregnancy safe. I was grateful for his help and that there were so many options I could choose from! The highlight of the meal was the Shabu Shabu. It was definitely enough food for two people without all the other food we ordered. The New York Strip was absolutely delicious, and I was impressed by how generous the portion was. I had the spicy mocktail, and it was so refreshing. I appreciate that it was reasonably priced, as that is not always the case with mocktails in Nashville. My husband tried two different whiskey cocktails and enjoyed both. We took advantage of the reduced parking rate in the garage next door. I can't wait to come back!

I saw this place had great ratings here so decided to stop in for a week night dinner. I was able to find free street parking nearby. There were a couple of other tables occupied and I was seated immediately. The hostess was very friendly. It has a cute cozy vibe. Our server brought us filtered water and ran down the menu being sure to note when dishes wouldn't meet any dietary restrictions. I ordered the unagi crispy rice and miso cod with sweet potato puree. My friend ordered the steak, brussels sprouts, and pickled cucumbers. The meal arrived all at different times. The steak tasted off so I tried it too and it was bad. So bad that a chef came to apologize for letting it come to the table. They of course comped it. The cucumbers were ok. I enjoyed the unagi crispy rice and the miso cod was good. Overall I don't think the meal will be memorable.

This was my first ever hot pot experience and lets just say.. after the first time I went back for a second time within two weeks. My friend is from Newport Beach and was so excited to hear Nashvile got something by Tabu. I, personally, have no idea what this was so thankfully I have a Californian to tell me about it! The first time we went I went with a group of friends and we sat at the bar for the hot pot. We were greeted at the door by Ellie who checked on us with a smiling face throughout our time at Kosho. Our server and bartender were both named Will and both were great! I got one of their signature drinks that is a gin and tonic with a twist. It was refreshing, strong, and just what I needed. They had some fun beers on the menu which my boyfriend ordered. I totally forgot which one he ordered but it was good and fun to try a new one! We got the pork belly skewer- sooo good! I love when pork belly is cooked to get crispy and delicious. Do not sleep on the handrolls. I would literally go and get a handroll every day if I lived close. I would recommend sharing one hot pot per two people! I also asked the staff what their favorite was and learned a hack- mix the miso and the sukiyaki. The first time we did sukiyaki and second time we mixed. Just go for it and mix it!! I'll never do it any other way. Cant wait to come back to Kosho!

Kitchen space appears to be larger than the dining space. Food was average, yet satisfying once I added a couple of their in house hot sauces, which were delicious. Portion size was filling and food temperature was hot upon delivery, which I definitely appreciate.

I actually came for the Guyanese chef pop up event (word to Pepper Pot). I had not heard of Kosho, I just came because I love carribean food of any kind and was intrigued by a fusion with Japanese food. I didn't know they would have their regular menu in addition to the pop up menu, what a nice surprise because the food was amazing. I got cabbage off the pop up menu but decided to order the garlic noodles of Kosho menu. I've tried garlic noodles at a similar Asian restaurant here and the garlic is always too overpowering. But this dish was delicious and balanced. The juicy jumbo shrimp were a perfect addition. I ate the entire thing in one sitting because I couldn't stop eating it. The service was also top notch. Several staff checked on me throughout the evening and everyone had a great attitude. The space has a nice vibe , I like the downstairs bar area which is were I was seated. I am looking forward to a return visit to try more dishes in addition to the cocktails.

Kosho in Nashville, Tennessee is definitely a must-visit if you're into elevated cuisine Our top three favorites were the pork belly buns, potstickers, and spicy tuna don -- all a solid 10/10. The garlic noodles were also incredible! Honestly, everything we tried was delicious, but the pork belly buns stole the show. The venue was open and very clean, you could see them cooking your order. Be sure to make a reservation and plan ahead -- everything is made to order, and totally worth the wait!

A friend and I went to dinner at kosho earlier this week and it was fantastic! Service was great, food was exceptional, and the atmosphere was a 10/10 environment for us to catch up and enjoy a great dinner out. Neither of us have stopped thinking about the edamame hummus since that night, it was so good and an absolute must get! I also want to add that parking was very easy especially for a downtown!

Can't wait to come back -- still dreaming of the garlic noodles! A really top-notch experience from start to finish; among the best service and hospitality we've experienced in Nashville, with inventive food and drinks to match. We really appreciated the chef stopping by to introduce himself, too. Favorites included the cucumber; edamame hummus (could've licked the bowl!); garlic noodles; and blistered broccolini. We loved sitting in the bar's dining nook, as recommended by another reviewer. It was quiet and cozy.

One of my bosses was in town and asked for a place to go. I sent him a list, but one of the people he was working with here suggested this place and made a reservation for us. I'd never heard of it, but wow, what a hidden gem! We walked in right when they opened and were incredibly friendly in seating us. We originally sat in the bar nook, which was so cozy, but decided we wanted to try the hot plate soup cooking experience. (The Shabu Bar) We also ordered Salmon Crudo (which was phenomenal), Cucumber Sunomono (so good) and the Garlic Noodles (still so good the next day!). We were recommended to do the NY strip for the Shabu. Personally, it didn't have much flavor and it wasn't my favorite. They bring it on a plate in semi frozen rolls, almost like you'd see in a Mongolian buffet restaurant. Overall, it was really good though. They give you a ton of dipping sauces, and the broth was so good. I loved the cabbage and noodles in it, especially after they cooked for awhile. We had banana pudding for dessert. It was good. Rich and a giant portion. It felt a little odd for the type of restaurant we were in (I didn't want the rice ice cream and they were out of donuts), but it was still good. I could only really eat a few bites of it. It was a little pricey, but it seems to be expected in Nashville these days. It's on the upper end of mid level dining I would say. Expected to spend at least about $50/person. End of the day: Great service Great food Great atmosphere I would highly recommend it. I rarely go out to eat as I enjoy cooking at home, but I would definitely come back. There were a lot of things that I really wanted to try!

This was my first time at Kosho after being recommended by a friend. We went on a Wednesday evening so it was pretty mellow and the decor was fitting for the asian cuisine. Our waitress was very attentive and recommended different plates as well! The unagi crispy rice, shrimp curry roti and the ube banana pudding stole the show. We got two orders of the unagi crispy rice and the shrimp curry with the roti was so good. The seared hamachi was a little strange due to the furikake with the overpowering sauce and the waygu croquettes and pork belly was okay. I would definitely go back and also try the hot pot as well and order some of the same things.

None of us had been to Present Tense before, and we were excited to try it (we picked it because the menu looked great and it was central - we were heading to Green Hills after and my brother in law was heading downtown). Present Tense is a Japanese-izakaya inspired restaurant and natural wine bar. It's tiny, with only 14 chef's counter seats, a few indoor tables, and even fewer outdoor tables. We had a reservation for 5:30pm. We waited a bit to be seated but were soon sat at an indoor table (the outdoors remained busier throughout our dinner). Reservations are recommended. We shared several dishes from their menu: a half dozen Miyagi oysters with yuzu leche de tigre and tarragon oil; yellowtail amberjack sashimi with citrus, orange wine, and olive oil; mushroom rice with an egg yolk and hemp seed furikake; Wagyu flat iron steak with black sesame mole and lime; and blood orange and prickly pear soft serve for dessert. We enjoyed everything, and I think it says a lot that argued about our favorite courses; one of us made an argument for almost every course. In addition to our food, we each had 2 glasses of wine or 2 cocktails (wine for me; cocktails for the boys). The wines are natural and interesting, and the cocktails were creative and delicious. The restaurant is modern and cool, and the ambiance was great. If anything is holding me back from giving Present Tense five stars, it is probably the service. It just wasn't the most welcoming/friendliest spot. And beware - the location is great (surrounded by lots of bars to go to after dinner - if you don't stay at Present Tense to keep drinking their great wine), but parking in Wedgewood-Houston is worse and worse all the time as it keeps expanding and growing. We found street parking a couple of blocks away, but our dinner was on the earlier side. Give yourself some time to find parking if you drive there. Overall, we had a really good time at Present Tense. The food was creative and delicious, and we enjoyed eating it and being surprised by it. And I loved their focus on natural wines. I'd come just to drink great wines and have a small plate or two. Anytime, really. Someone invite me, please.

When we arrived for our reservation, we were promptly seated at our table. Our quickly waiter came by to grab our drink orders and give us food recommendations. I had the peach soda to drink. it came in its original bottle and they served it with a small cup I thought was super cute. The real highlight of the show though was the food which I shared with my friend so we could try everything. We started with the Onigiri which came with 3 varieties: Yak (grilled rice and roe), snow crab (with avocado and cucumber), and Japanese curry (vegetable). These were so delicious and my favorite was the Yak. The grilled rice gave the onigiri a nice smoky flavor that was warm and very satisfying. Next, we had the Curry Rice which was composed of Japanese curry gravy, chicken katsu, and steamed rice. Of the 3 dishes we had, this was probably my least favorite, but it was still quite good and hearty; I just thought the other dishes were better. My second favorite dish was the Chilled Curry Udon which came with udon, chilled curry sauce, curry crisp, grilled summer squash and rapini. This was super refreshing and exactly what you would want for a hot summer day. The flavors blended so well together and made for a delightful dish. Las, was the Creamy Bacon Udon which was my favorite of the 3. This was made with fresh udon, creamy white miso sauce, bacon, corn, egg, tempura flakes, and nori. It was similar to a carbonara but was even better than what I expected. The dish was creamy and rich with a touch of saltiness from the bacon and a sweetness from the corn. It was a well crafted dish and I'm so glad I got it! Overall, such a great experience here and I cannot wait to come back!

The price is just a little steeper (over 30$ with tax and gratuity for a bowl of ramen), but I get it. It's super fresh ingredients and made with a lot of effort.

The menu changes so it's hard to give a fair review of the food as I cannot guarantee it will be…read morethe same next time. But I definitely feel like it was not worth the price I paid. First off, the actual price of the bowl was easily $5-10 more than anywhere I've ever had ramen (including more expensive cities like Honolulu or NYC). And it's not like this could be considered upscale or fancy. Then you add a mandatory 20% tip but the only time I interacted with my server was to order the food. Someone else brought out my bowl. And I couldn't get the waitress attention to get water the whole time I was there... so what was I paying for?! So all in I paid double than I would have at the aforementioned restaurants for equal ramen and terrible service.
