Unfortunately, what should have been a great experience turned into a very uncomfortable one. The gentleman who took our order was extremely rude from the start and made us feel unwelcome and clearly unwilling to respond to our questions about the menu. We initially gave the benefit of the doubt, assuming it might be a cultural misunderstanding. However, things only got worse. After we sat down, he never brought us water while consistently serving other tables. At one point, he even prepared a full table setting--with water and food--for a reservation that hadn't yet arrived, while we continued to sit there unattended. After nearly 30 minutes of awkward waiting, we were finally given water. What made the situation more concerning was the clear difference in how we(Caucasian Americans) were treated compared to other customers. He was warm, kind, and engaging with others--particularly those who appeared to share his background--but would not acknowledge or engage with us at all. The atmosphere became so uncomfortable that I made the decision to leave for the sake of my daughters. As a father, it was clear they felt unwelcome, and that was not something I was willing to tolerate. I left without asking for a refund due to what seemed to be hostility. We've had many wonderful experiences at Asian restaurants, but our experience at Daylight Sushi was deeply disappointing.
