The "Hopeful Heap" longs to find its value restored at some future date.
    David S.

The sign says "Open," but the space is nearly bare. Hmm. Take-out it is, then. Three lone chairs spaced 6 feet apart line the south wall. The pandemic seems to be winding down, but this apparently two-person operation is still spending lonely hours behind the limiting plexiglass Wall of New China. Finally, a head bobs up from its task beneath the service counter. Hungry for variety, I ordered a Po Po Platter (that snacks-for-two mix of pork ribs, skewered chicken sticks, Crab Rangoon, cabbage with pork egg rolls, fried chicken wings, and fried shrimp.) It only took a 10-to-15 minute wait, was still hot by the time I got home, and was mostly satisfying. In future I'll know to skip the shrimp. It wasn't bad, but it's a far from stellar blanket of thick, heavy dough suffocating a tasty shrimp. (Up-side: the shrimp will never be cold and the doughy mass is easily pulled away.) It reminds me of ever-present, random bites of sweet-and-sour whatever that while being as large as other bites are void of any meat. Former dining chairs and tables huddle in a heap along the north wall. The heap is silent, but orderly and seems hopeful that its community of parts will find happiness in a near future return to service. I'm crossing my fingers for the Hopeful Heap.

    14. Fried Crab Rangoon

Call and told them that all of my crab meat Rangoon was over cooked and puffed out with overt very little filling inside and they said it's not their problem.... Liked there food a lot . But dang .

The crab Rangoon was the best I have ever had, and I am sort of a connoisseur of Chinese food. So freaking delicious!

I did a pick-up order, so I'll have to come back and try the hotpot, but our experience with the two dishes we ordered was good. Ordered: 1. Snow pea tips ($21.99) - a classic chinese restaurant dish that they did well; would order again. 2. Sour cabbage fish ($28.99) - the portion is huge (you get what you pay for ~$30), but satisfying. The fish fillets are incredibly tender. The pickled cabbage gives it a nice sour flavor to round everything out, and the soup comes with noodles which was a nice surprise. Food was ready in 40 minutes on a Friday evening, so it's a good idea to plan your order ahead of time.

This fit our time budget just fine as we had about 3.5 hours before our flight departs. This location is what you would expect from an ordinary hot pot restaurant with simple seating, a custom bar to choose the items you want, and a small sauce station. My lovely lady and I decided to go with the custom hot pot option where you grab a large bowl, go to the custom bar and choose the items that you want them to cook in your hot pot. They weigh all the stuff together and charge $14.99 per pound. We originally choose the House Spicy broth, but my beautiful partner asked the lady how spicy was the broth, and she did say it was actually spicy; so she asked them to downgrade my broth to the Sour and Spicy broth, as it was more mild. I'm so glad she did, as my broth still seemed quite spicy, especially the red chili oil floating at the top. I'm not sure how she was able to deal with the House Spicy level, but she was able to power through it. The sauce station was quite limited, without any sweet options to mix with the spicy oil and scallions. Overall, this place is ok for Tennessee. I feel like we are spoiled coming from the Los Angeles area where we have access to so many options with super fresh ingredients.

From the food to the service, everything exceeded our expectations. The first thing that stood out was their small plate concept, and I absolutely loved it. I enjoy trying a variety of dishes instead of committing to just one entrée, and this concept is something I wish more restaurants would adopt. We ended up trying almost half the menu and loved nearly every dish. A huge shout-out to our server, Nestor. He welcomed us warmly, was cheerful throughout the evening, and his recommendations were spot on. He truly made the dinner even more enjoyable. We started with a couple of mocktails, and the Purple Haze was refreshing and delicious. Here are some of our favorites: MI Cucumber - Smashed cucumber with soy dressing, crunchy chili oil, and cilantro. Simple, refreshing, and packed with flavor. Plantain - Fried plantains topped with sriracha goat cheese, cilantro, and crunchy gremolata. The sriracha goat cheese paired perfectly with the sweet plantains. K-Pop Chicken - Korean sweet and spicy popcorn chicken with great flavor and a perfect balance of sweetness and heat. Dumplings - Homemade steamed dumplings with edamame, truffle, yuzu ponzu, and garlic confit. I really enjoyed the truffle flavor, though it may not be for everyone. Kimchi Bacon Risotto - Caramelized kimchi, applewood smoked bacon, tomato, and shrimp. One of the best dishes of the night--perfectly cooked with incredible flavor. Crispy Spicy Tuna - Spicy mayo tuna served over crispy rice. This was one of the highlights of the meal. The crispy rice was absolutely perfect. Cauliflower Taco - Crispy cauliflower with guacamole, creamy miso, and tsiran spice. The filling was flavorful, and the cauliflower was cooked perfectly. Lamb Chops - This was the only dish that felt average. The lamb was cooked well, but it was missing a bit of flavor. A little more seasoning, especially some salt, would have really elevated the dish. To finish the meal, we had the Banana Pudding with Vanilla Gelato, which was a delicious and satisfying way to end dinner. Overall, MI Kitchen completely exceeded our expectations. Amazing food, a fun small-plate concept, and outstanding service from Nestor made this a memorable experience. We'll definitely be back to explore the rest of the menu!

It's one of those places where everything is packed with flavor and every dish feels a little special. The Mi cucumber is absolutely to die for--especially when you put it on top of the dumplings. Trust me on that combo! The K-Pop chicken is AMAZING and a must-order every time. The arancini has such a flavorful and unique twist that really stands out. The spring roll was delicious too, full of flavor with just the right amount of spice. And the tacos... you cannot skip them. The beef tacos are incredible, and the cauliflower tacos are just as good. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything here. On top of the fantastic food, the service is always great--friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Highly recommend!! Be sure to make a reservation!

Today I opened up Y *LP and the top review that came up was a negative review from 2 freaking years ago. How is that even fair? My son owned a bar / restaurant and he despised Y* LP because he said they try to get business to pay them to curate reviews or show what they want. I think I saw a review 2 years ago from Jackie S complaining about the orange chicken. Saying something stupid like if you removed the breading the chicken is bland. Well that's dumb. The breading and sauce is what orange chicken is all about. It is not my favorite but other people in my family rave about how delicious it is made here. Not once in the many years we have been have we ever been disappointed. Their wontons are the bomb! They have American favorites and also lots of traditional dishes. We love having this place and it is honestly our very favorite in all of Brentwood and Franklin. We usually do dine in but their take out business is off the chain. Enjoy your meal. Be happy!

Yes, many of us find ourselves buzzing around (especially this time of year -…read moreright before Thanksgiving) like bees and other creatures hustling to prepare for the cold months ahead. And, somewhat surprisingly...the same was true for Great Wall of China early afternoon on a weekday. There was a virtual constant flow of patrons coming and going, picking up call-in orders, and stopping for a mid-afternoon lunch. (1:30 - 2:30pm) Regardless of the "buzz," we were politely greeted by Lynn (Lin ?) and seated immediately. Drink orders were taken (fountain drinks or bottled available), menus presented. Drinks delivered and orders taken within 5 - 10 minutes....and a small dish of complementary candied peanuts placed on table. They were delightful. Our orders came out within another 10 minutes or so....even while customers continued to come and go. And 3 different people came out to check if everything was in order..."all good?" - "yes." First for me was a hot, super crispy, veggie egg roll. Multi layers of rice paper wrappers contained a rather bland stuffing. A dollop of "Momofuku-style/Lao Gan Ma" chili crunch with its savory, salty, spicy, umami nature helped. (Of course the traditional hot mustard or duck sauce could have been chosen instead...but none was offered.) Second - my go-to lunch dish, Hunan Chicken. Uber-tender small bites of white breast chicken sauted and bathed in an earthy sauce, along with carrots, mushrooms, onions, and zucchini. Good - yes. Great....not quite. The depth of flavor wasn't here. But the subtle and persistent heat was spot on. Chicken and broccoli for my luncheon guest...was also shy of our top marks. And this dish (attested by both of us) was way over-salty. Too much soy or...? We'll ask next time. Regardless, we will be back because the selection and affordability of pretty darn good Chinese food is what we continue to seek on our Yelping quest across all cuisines of the world....especially close to home.

I am always on the hunt for a solid pick-up Chinese spot and usually wait until I am closer to home to scoop up the food, but decided to give Asian Taste a try recently and get it right after work. Online ordering process was simple, not a huge fan of the 7% processing fee, but the prices were fair so I pushed through. Quoted time of 25 minutes was spot on. When I walked in the door, they were walking from behind the curtain with my order. As noted in previous reviews, I always judge a Chinese spot by their wonton soup...and Asian Taste came through with some of the best wonton soup I have had in the area! In addition to the tasty soup, we got sesame chicken with fried rice and an egg roll, and house lo mein. The egg roll was more of a spring roll, but it was fried to perfection and packed with the goods, so again, I let it slide. All the food was hot and delicious, and plentiful. Pricing was not bad, including the fees, tax and a tip, we spent around $32, which is not bad at all! If you are interested in dining in, there are several booths and tables. The dining room was well kept and clean. Overall, really enjoyed Asian Taste. Definitely will be added to the rotation for those weeknight Chinese dinners!
