Hot pot soup cauldron at our table
    MuzicalMatt ..

The Beijing Hot Pot restaurant feels just like dining in China or Hong Kong .... But right in Franklin. Decent dim sum is available all day, and the soup options are presented to you on a menu tablet. We haven't gotten pst the curry soup and the golden chicken in two visits .... Since those are both such a nice starting point. This place is recommended!!!

Went with a group and this place is still good. Ingredients are fresh. Staff is attentive and a few checked in on us because we had a new server. Like their sauce bar and it even has seaweed salad. Since 4 of us were getting Hot Pot we opted for a large split so we could get 2 broths. Also we got the fixed beef set and was worth it. Lots of options for us and plenty of beef. Very fun experience and delicious food.

Serviceable spot for traditional Chinese hot pot when I don't want to drive too far from home. Many years ago when we first moved to the area, this restaurant used to be a beloved classic Chinese buffet (RIP Canton Buffet) soy family was really excited to see this spot return to its Chinese roots. The space has gotten a real glow up and is super clean, extremely spacious, and warmly decorated. I'm a hot pot veteran and really likes traditional Chinese style. A make your own sauce bar is a must for me, and this spot probably has one of my favorite sauce bars in the area, plentiful ingredients and several tasty pre-made options (the Malaysian sauce was a real favorite out of the pre-made options!) Great broth selection as well, with a mix of traditional and not really traditional options for Chinese style hot pot. My favorite was probably the golden chicken - warming, savory, with turmeric for extra goodness and a decent amount of fall-off-the-bone tender chicken. I also liked the herb / vegetarian broth which is pretty bland on its own, but how I prefer it because I can adjust the flavor with sauces and what I cook to make it to my liking. We also tried the tom yum once, but despite the server saying it was mild, it was actually very spicy, even for my mom who loves spice. Wish they had been a little more forthcoming on that as I had specified I'm not wild about spicy food. All the traditional hot pot options are here. You can choose from a small ($7) or large ($17) pot of broth and if you choose large, you could get a selection of two different broths. I always prefer individual pots so we have always gotten the small. Pro-tip, they will also refill the liquid of the broth if you run low, so it's the most cost-effective option. I typically do a combo platter when I go for hotpot because it's typically the best bang for your buck, but that is not the case here. The vegetarian platter is very tofu heavy, light on interesting vegetables, and no rice or noodle options. The chicken platter came with meats we don't eat, and they don't allow substitutions. Whereas at other spots I usually share a combo platter with another person, here a combo is really only ideal for one. In general, I think the combo platters need some work here. That said, there are plentiful options to choose from for à la carte and we after several visits have found a rhythm for what we like out of these options. It's slightly pricier than I'd pay at other spots, but I get the convenience of having something really close to my home. The service (spice tolerance aside) is very friendly, and there is an easy parking lot since this is part of a shopping center. Overall, this is a great option when you're in need of hot, comforting food. There's a small dim sun menu if you aren't into hot pot and a larger Chinese menu of classic (somewhat Americanized) favorites. We will definitely be coming back here and will consider it part of our hot pot rotation!

We came on weekend during lunch hours. We got seated right away, and it wasn't too busy. I want to start with the decor. I really liked the decor a lot. I thought it looked pretty neat inside. I started off with the wings. The wings were pretty big here compared to a lot of places. I liked them. I thought they were fried perfectly. They weren't over fried or under fried. It had its crunch, and it was still moist and juicy. I also tried their hot pot. They had a sauce bar where you can go up and make your own sauce. For the hot pot, you pretty much order whatever you want on the tablet for it. The soup base I tried was the Sichuan spicy. I felt that it was very flavorful. They had a really nice broth going for this one. I'm someone that can't handle spice at all, but I didn't think the spice level was too overwhelming. You pretty much pay for your soup base, and then pay for each item you want to add like the meats or veggies. You can also do the combo, but I wanted to just do my own thing that day since I didn't like what the combo came with. The service wasn't bad, but our server forgot a few things we ordered that we kept having to ask for. In all, we didn't have a bad experience.

Hot pot combo, flavor was great!

Space was huge and very well decorated. We went on Cinco de Mayo so it was a slower day, which was perfectly fine. Our server was great and very helpful. We started off with chicken wings, those weren't my favorite it lacked flavor. The spicy hot pot broth was great. We ordered a combo next time. I would just pick Me and vegetables separately. The lobster was my favorite. We also got fish, a dry, hot pot and a chicken dish under the Szechuan menu. Everyone enjoyed it. Next time we go, I'd order the hot pot again and new dishes .

Service was great, our server was super friendly and really helpful. I also loved the self-serve station with tons of options to customize your own sauce. Big plus for the Chinese vinegar. They have a nice variety of soup bases. We got the pork bone broth and the beef broth; both were tasty, but the beef was definitely my favorite. The brisket was good, and I really appreciated the convenient cook-time guide, especially for beginners. Soup dumplings were very tasty too, just a little on the small side for the price. Overall, worth it.

    The "décor" and ambiance

The people were great; helpful, kind, cheerful, all that you would hope for in this situation. The rest, unfortunately, left much to be desired. If you loved this place, I'm happy for you, but this is my take. I'm confused with all the other comments about the décor and ambiance. I don't know what was in the space before, but if you told me all they did was change the sign out front and add hotpot burners to the tables, I would easily believe you. The ceilings were very high and exposed; very "warehouse sheik," which meant it was loud and echoey. The music was hardly aligned with an Asian restaurant theme (Ghost Town by Benson Boone was playing when I stopped to listen), and there were TVs going. It was more of a bar feel than I would have expected for a hot pot restaurant. I can certainly understand having a limited menu for various reasons, but it was still unexpected and disappointing that they don't have lo mein, and that so many dishes default to contain pineapple. We ordered off the non-hot pot menu, and frankly, it was underwhelming. We got the shrimp fried rice, orange chicken, and sweet and sour chicken. I was happy with how many shrimp were in the rice, but they were pretty big and completely unseasoned, so while "more shrimp" usually equals "better," in this case it meant a lot of tasteless shrimp. The orange and sweet and sour chicken were decent, but nothing special. The fried rice was not as good as you could get at any other Chinese place and the other dishes were more or less the same. However, the portions were smaller than most other places, while the prices were 20-25% higher than other places or what I would expect. Bottom line (and my opinion that you don't need to like or agree with): it's ok. For myself and my family, I don't expect we will return, not when I can get more, and better food, for a lower cost.

If you are looking for authentic Chinese food, come here and experience the genuine cuisine and modern atmosphere. You have a choice of hotpot and/or family style dishes. They have an array of sides, veggies, meat, and seafood. To complement your table there is a self serve dipping sauce station at your convenience. The food is not the only thing amazing aspect of this establishment. The host was welcoming and the our server Brook was the best we could ever ask for. She explained the menu to us since we are first timers here. She made sure our first time was memorable. We will definitely come back. Great for dates, casual and eventful family dinners, and parties.

Food was amazing, especially the House Tofu! Environment was very clean with beautiful ambience and decor. Our server, Kalli went above and beyond for us! We had a really great experience this evening. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

Such a Fun Family Experience! We had the best time at this local hot pot spot! The whole dining experience was so fun and interactive -- everyone in my family loved getting to cook their own food and try different broths and ingredients. The staff was super friendly and helpful, especially since some of us were new to hot pot. Everything tasted fresh, the portions were great, and the atmosphere was perfect for a family night out.

The fish fillets are incredibly tender. The pickled cabbage gives it a nice sour flavor to round everything out, and the soup comes with noodles which was a nice surprise. This fit our time budget just fine as we had about 3.5 hours before our flight departs. This location is what you would expect from an ordinary hot pot restaurant with simple seating, a custom bar to choose the items you want, and a small sauce station. My lovely lady and I decided to go with the custom hot pot option where you grab a large bowl, go to the custom bar and choose the items that you want them to cook in your hot pot. They weigh all the stuff together and charge $14.99 per pound. We originally choose the House Spicy broth, but my beautiful partner asked the lady how spicy was the broth, and she did say it was actually spicy; so she asked them to downgrade my broth to the Sour and Spicy broth, as it was more mild. I'm so glad she did, as my broth still seemed quite spicy, especially the red chili oil floating at the top. I'm not sure how she was able to deal with the House Spicy level, but she was able to power through it. The sauce station was quite limited, without any sweet options to mix with the spicy oil and scallions. Overall, this place is ok for Tennessee. I feel like we are spoiled coming from the Los Angeles area where we have access to so many options with super fresh ingredients.

And, somewhat surprisingly...the same was true for Great Wall of China early afternoon on a weekday. There was a virtual constant flow of patrons coming and going, picking up call-in orders, and stopping for a mid-afternoon lunch. (1:30 - 2:30pm) Regardless of the "buzz," we were politely greeted by Lynn (Lin ?) and seated immediately. Drink orders were taken (fountain drinks or bottled available), menus presented. Drinks delivered and orders taken within 5 - 10 minutes....and a small dish of complementary candied peanuts placed on table. They were delightful. Our orders came out within another 10 minutes or so....even while customers continued to come and go. And 3 different people came out to check if everything was in order..."all good?" - "yes." First for me was a hot, super crispy, veggie egg roll. Multi layers of rice paper wrappers contained a rather bland stuffing. A dollop of "Momofuku-style/Lao Gan Ma" chili crunch with its savory, salty, spicy, umami nature helped. (Of course the traditional hot mustard or duck sauce could have been chosen instead...but none was offered.) Second - my go-to lunch dish, Hunan Chicken. Uber-tender small bites of white breast chicken sauted and bathed in an earthy sauce, along with carrots, mushrooms, onions, and zucchini. Good - yes. Great....not quite. The depth of flavor wasn't here. But the subtle and persistent heat was spot on. Chicken and broccoli for my luncheon guest...was also shy of our top marks. And this dish (attested by both of us) was way over-salty. Too much soy or...? We'll ask next time. Regardless, we will be back because the selection and affordability of pretty darn good Chinese food is what we continue to seek on our Yelping quest across all cuisines of the world....especially close to home.
