Since first moving to Long Beach almost a decade ago, I have been on the hunt for a really good Chinese fast casual restaurant. But it has to be like a a wannabe Panda Express with even larger potions and greasier food. This does not exist in Long Beach! When I finally gave this place a try, I was hopeful. The food looked right, the decor without any real thought put into it looked right, the employee seemed right.... But none of it was right. The noodles and rice had no flavor. When the lady behind the counter asked me how many soy sauces I wanted, I wasn't aware I was going to need 10 just to give my sides some flavor. My proteins weren't as bad but they weren't great. The broccoli beef and kung pao chicken were fine... at least they had flavor but they just didn't hit the spot. I will not be returning but wish them luck in the new year. read more

Absolutely horrible. I went there because I saw multiple stars for them. I got the egg drop soup for 999 zero flavor. It was more like a vegetable soup. Also ordered the salt and pepper, chicken, bland, and chewy's in the meat. This is my first review on yelp that I use all the time so this is how I'm expressing now happy unhappy I am. read more

This spot has become our go-to for work meetings, and it never disappoints. The service is always fast and efficient, which makes last-minute meetings a breeze. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming. The food is consistently delicious -- you can count on it to taste great every time. Food is decent workers attitudes are horrible! I asked for an order of veggie egg rolls and 1 chicken egg roll when asking about my order the lady was like your done as she shoo'd me away with her hand only to get home and no egg rolls in sight. This place is the real deal. Portions are generous, food is fresh, and they serve you the big chunks of meat from the top, not from the bottom of the tray like most Chinese places. My go-to spot for Chinese now. Best kept secret in Long Beach. read more

The food is really good, I love the orange chicken, the fried rice, and chow mein is sooooo good. The service is awesome love the couple that runs the place, now that I've come in more and I think she has recognized me we have a little chatter. The environment is really relaxed and it's very nice to be in there, I usually get it to go but, I have hung out in the n it's nice n quiet. Do have a couple house less people around so be carful. read more

Nothing to drive a long distance to eat. Food was dry and "past its prime" being served from the warming table. Good service and a place to stop if you are in a hurry. Parking is tight and 7th street is always a busy street. read more

Typical Chinese fast food restaurant. Ordered a 2 item combo and hot and sour soup for under $24. They use fresh vegetables but the same veggies for my combo and soup. Button mushrooms and zucchini must be in season. Didn't find dried mushrooms typical in hot and sour soup. I also commend that their bbq pork is not dry and tough. read more

We picked up food close to closing and the chow mein was already hardened. I wasn't satisfied what the meal we got and it was very disappointing. We couldn't finish the meal and we through it away. Maybe getting the food earlier in the day is more fresh. read more

I'm sorry to say this but brutal honest review here about the food it's very wet the noodles taste old the rice taste outdated as well lack of flavor in all food. Not sure what's going on in the kitchen but the food is missing flavor not even rice has flavor. I couldn't even eat my food because I was scared to get sick everything tastes old and with no flavor. The teriyaki chicken is sitting soaking in sauce all day under a hot lamp and when I get served all I receive is fatty pieces of meat I'm sorry but after this visit I will not return. I also ordered a 6 piece wonton order and only received 4 pieces and the cream cheese very watered down too. The whole menu is watered down lacking major Chinese flavor. read more

This is my go-to place for Chinese take-away. Food is always pretty fresh, not sitting in the steam tray too long before they bring out more. The place is clean. The staff is very friendly and the lady always packs sooooooooo much food into that to-go container. It is an easy 2 meals worth of food every time. Great spot. Nice people. read more

The Orange chicken is not crispy at all and is soggy and very dry The chicken teriyaki is dry and does not taste like teriyaki at all. Chow mein flavorless and barley and cabbage and no flavor. Fried rice no seasoning and no flavor at all. read more

Okay, I hate leaving bad reviews because I'm not trying to ruin any business but I want to be completely honest so they can step up their game & make better foods for their customers. I got their 2 entree meals all white rice with orange chicken & spicy chicken. The spicy chicken tastes like it was from yesterday and they reheated it up. It was dry but saucy. The orange chicken was a huge disappointment. It literally tastes like only flour no chicken & it was from yesterday. So it tastes like stale flour in sauce. Please make fresh new batches so if I ever try this place again I can write a better review. 1000% cause I wish I read more honest reviews. read more

Best food ever and lots of it. Constantly bringing out fresh and tasty dishes almost like momma is cooking in the back. The front area is small, cozy and clean, the food presentation is mouth watering. You will be greet when you walk in and treated like a friend while ordering. The jalapeno chicken is bomb. A little bummed they ran out at 8pm today. So instead I copped the mushroom chicken, orange chicken, chow mein and fried rice. So much food! The chicken is actually chicken and not fried crisp breading. The staff is nice. This is a nice recovery meal after an afternoon of wakeboarding. About $8. The lady who helped me is so rude. I ordered 2 entrée combo with boba Thai tea with no ice. She wouldn't make exception and told me that she would charge me extra for the drink with no ice and my drink wouldn't be filled to the top. She could have asked me open ended questions instead of arguing with me. Avoid this place if possible. read more

I had this random intense craving for some Chinese food! This place HITS the spot!!! I'm currently eating it and I just had to leave this review. I got a classic one combo with chowmein fried rice and orange chicken with a Diet Coke on ice. Soooo good and they accept card which is amazing! My husband and I went in 10 min before they were closing. Lady at the counter was extremely nice. Since they were closing a lot of the food options were not available so I was bummed however they made a new batch of orange chicken for our order which was amazing! The items we were able to try were really good. She even thru in an item we didn't order so we can try it. Great customer service and the food is really yummy. We can't wait to try it again, next time we will pick up hours before they close so we have more options. Thank you we are so happy we found us a local Chinese fast food restaurant read more

I don't think you can go wrong with what you order. Definitely fusion of authentic with a modernized American feel. Cocktails were excellent and recommend their Tamarind Spicy drink, don't remember the name but it was so good. That aside.. this gnocchi was not good and too undercooked. The sauce tasted honestly like a chef boyardee sauce, with a little bit of a fish after taste, and no ricotta. It did taste like slight parm, which, even if a little bit more Parmesan was added, maybe this would've tasted a bit better. But apparently all the Parmesan was reserved only for the salads. (This dish was supposed to have a duck base, but this was not cooked properly) not only was I simply turned off by this dish, there was nobody by to help or even get it to go box. But quite honestly, I just left the food which is so sad. Left over pasta is always so good but I really could not continue eating this as I truly did not enjoy the taste. I left hungry and sadly disappointed.

I went to Long Beach today and stumbled upon this place. Guess what? They just open today under new management so I gave it a try. To my surprise, the food was delicious. They have so many selections such as cream cheese wonton, pepper chicken, spicy fried chicken(Chinese style), teriyaki chicken, and BBQ pork just to name a few. We shared their chicken bowl, which was extremely, ridiculously good chicken - super moist in the middle, perfectly crispy on the outside, no gristle or anything, just very good chicken... but I agree with Denise, a pretty tiny amount of it for the amount of rice. So the first slightly less than half of the bowl was solid rice with basically life-changingly good chicken... and the second half of the bowl was just rice. The rice is solid enough, but it's clearly not meant to be the star of the show. We also tried their dumpling bowl, which same thing - four not that big dumplings per bowl, very good dumplings, but then half a bowl of just rice. We actually just took the leftover rice and the full third dumpling bowl (since we had 3 bowls for 2 people from the two deals), added our own Chinese sausage, and made it lunch and dinner, so it's obviously a great deal as long as even one of those promotions are going on. But after that, I'd probably want to hear fewer people saying what I was saying about the amount of meat you get for the price. Mine was spiciest of the two. I really enjoyed the meat, but my favorite was the steak. The sauce that came with it was good and the rice was terrific. The price for it was reasonable so I would definitely make this my go-to spot for Teriyaki. They do make burritos, wraps and burgers so might want to try those one day but happy that my experience at this new spot was excellent.

Located in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach, Bamboo Teri House recently celebrated 41 years in business at this location. My wife read on social media that they recently experienced some vandalism at their storefront, so decided to show local support by dining in on a weekday with my wife and her mom. It is located in a small, unnamed strip mall, so has shared surface parking that we took advantage of. The front door had been temporarily fixed with plywood after the vandalism. The set-up is that of a fast casual diner counter restaurant, where you place and pay for your order first, and then the food is brought to you. It's a pretty big menu, which for me is not a good thing for a Japanese Restaurant. We found an empty table, and waited after we ordered. They have a self-serve soda machine ($3.25 for 16oz soda) with small water cups for use, and the tables are already prefilled with the necessities (napkins, disposable chopsticks, soy sauce). One interesting thing is that they do have Sapporo on draft, and some good weekday happy hour specials. It was fairly busy, but the food came out in a reasonable time. All the diners in our party were happy. We got items from different parts of the menu, and shared all of it, family-style. Lunch Special C ($12.50) - Chicken Teriyaki, California Roll, Karaage, steamed rice & Pan fried noodles. Plenty of food for sure, and the chicken teriyaki on the bed of rice was good. The Karaage on the noodles and the california roll were OK. 3 Item Combo ($18.50 + $1.50 upgrade for beef) - I guess this would be considered a teishoku. I really liked it. My three choices of entrees were sesame chicken (very crispy battered chicken but no sauce), angus beef teriyaki (a good choice for beef lovers, and the overflowing sauce was used for other dishes that didn't have as much), and mixed tempura (included two nice shrimp pieces, well made with panko and deep fried, along with some vegetables and a light dipping sauce...mainly used this sauce with the chicken). The noodles were OK. Yakitori Bowl ($11.50) - two chicken thigh skewers over a bed of rice and noodles and some mixed vegetables. It had grill marks so not sure if they have an open flame grill back there. It was well made with well portioned chicken thigh pieces, cooked really well. Would be an easy, filling lunch if in the mood for chicken. Reminded me of Yoshinoya, except quite a bit better. There was no place to self-bus, so assuming an employee would bus and clean the table, ready for the next guest. The restaurant was well staffed, so glad that they had plenty of foot traffic. My wife and her mom really liked this restaurant, and we will come again when back in the neighborhood.
